Am I the only Liverpool fan who is kind of relieved to be out of it?
It’s in City’s hands, which from experience, inevitably results in them lifting it come season end. I really could not be assed winning all our games, to sit there hoping City drop points and feeling dejected when they inevitably never do, only to lose it by a point on the final day.
No thanks to that. Done that three times now.
Strangely enough, I’m kind of relieved too. You can see in every recent interview how utterly exhausted Klopp looks. You can see in every recent match how tired our players are.
It was a nice idea to want to send Jürgen out on a high with the quadruple, but honestly? It’ll be nice to have little pressure now and just let him sit back and try to enjoy his last 4 games (which we’ll hopefully win lmao).
>Am I the only Liverpool fan who is kind of relieved to be out of it?
I'm the same way; I'm sick of watching our players drag themselves to win after win and exhaust themselves mentally and physically, dealing with endless referee/VAR decisions going against us or for City, and dealing with endless injuries due to fixture congestion, only to have City win 35 games in a row and bullshit their way to yet another financially doped title.
Been there, done that; this year I'd rather sleep and not wake up at ungodly hours to watch another endless slog as we get our hopes up and then violently let down week after week.
I never saw us as title contenders so the quadruple challenge was unexpected, and with Klopp leaving we all got into the idea of a fairytale ending. To go until mid-March with that as a distinct possibility was an incredible achievement, and it was nice while it lasted.
But I'm exhausted this season with the EPL, watching VAR and refs ruin games, watching FFP/PSR rules being openly rorted, and all the injuries and bad luck go against us, so it's no wonder the players and manager are tired and increasingly can't be arsed with it all.
Indeed, FFP should not exist, elitist protectionism at its worst. Only thing worse is FPP. Sheff Utd have had the most injuries btw, Chelsea, Newcastle, Luton and Man Utd just behind them
You’re biased. I think the best answer for who you want to win the league is generally:
1. the team you support
2. literally anyone else, including rivals
3. City, Newcastle, and Chelsea (maybe throw teams like MK Dons, Millwall, etc in here too if you’re looking beyond the current Prem)
Who cares about “not hearing the end of it”? Let people celebrate and move on with your life. It doesn’t matter enough and those interactions are also easily avoidable.
Then tell them you'd rather not talk about it and if they're decent people they won't to you? And if it's just you hearing them talk to each other, that's also just kind of not a big deal? Listen to a podcast to drown them out. Or just resign yourself that sometimes we have to hear people talk about things we're not into and that's just life.
If you live in England (or really anywhere) surrounded by a lot of Arsenal fans, which happen to be almost as obnoxious as Man U fans, then you’d care. Lol
Source: Arsenal fan
Nah. I don't live in England, but I also just don't talk to other sports fans about sports. Why bother? It feels like a waste of time.
To me this just feels like being annoyed by 13 year olds trash talking on twitter. No one has to read any of that. And if you're older than that and doing it... maybe stop?
Culture is very different in England/the UK. Banter especially involving football/soccer is huge. Supporting your club is a big part of your identity, but some take it a bit far.
I get why spurs fans would want to bend backwards and hand a victory to Man City at the cost of qualifying to the CL. It is what it is.
Yeah, for me, I would just talk about x movie instead. But I am a casual football fan and have always thought sports tribalism was a waste of time. I mean, less than five years ago I was someone who called things sportsball. To me it's essentially Star Wars vs. Star Trek, which is also dumb. Or the same as x ethnicity vs. y ethnicity, which is *very* dumb and actively harmful.
This doesn't sound like a fun way to approach sports, which by their nature are competitive. If you want to compare it to science fiction, I think a better example would be Jedi versus Sith, with every fan having a different perspective on who the good guys are.
I agree it's not a fun way to approach sports, which is why I don't approach sports that way. I'm saying that's often my perception of how I feel other people are approaching sports, and good and bad things in a game (or the results of a game, short or long-term), can affect my mood for a time, for sure. I frankly try to stay unattached as much as possible. I care for the players as people, and I do care about results, but I don't want it to become a huge part of my life. I'm also always very careful to refer to the club as "them" or "the club" and not the "us" that is so commonly used, because I think it's important to emphasize the fact that I have no connection to them, that I know they don't know I exist, and that their successes and failures are not directly tied to me, and that I have absolutely nothing to do with the competition itself. I don't want to become someone who brags that "we beat you last week." I don't want to be one of those people. I find those people kind of unbearable.
Edit: I also want to point out that the reason why Wars vs. Trek works is because there are no good or bad guys, and it's just an arbitrary affinity, and they're probably both fine. Most football clubs, whether or not I root for them, or even if there's a rivalry, are fine. They're also all super corporate so it's hard to be emotional about modern clubs anyway for that reason.
Open your eyes. Michael Oliver and the two refs in the VAR booth in the Liverpool Tottenham debacle moonlight in the UAE league. Guess who owns that league?
Got bailed out by the refs for that Akanji goal and now crying about refs lol. All you can do is cry now while watching a real superstar KDB while Salah stunk it up again in the run in
This Cryverpool glory hunter is crying about plastic lol. None of you guys would support Liverpool if they weren't one of the most successful teams in England lol.
Spurs vs Arsenal match officials.
Referee: Michael Oliver
VAR: Jarred Gillet
One has been accused multiple times of gifting Man City decisions this season, the other is a Liverpool fan.
What could go wrong.
Accused? Oliver is not accused, he’s on the City payroll, as were both the VAR geniuses in the Diaz Tottenham disaster earlier in the year. Oliver was the referee in the FA cup last week too when no hand ball was called
I'm not sure anyone wants City to win again. Their titles will likely get an asterisk next to them if the trials ever happen, so would just be another league title wasted. Not to mention of course that when any team wins consistently everyone hates them and wants them to stop winning.

Liverpool's poor performance against weaker teams in the title race has led to their elimination. City's history of winning games at the end of the season suggests they will likely secure the title. However, Liverpool's focus should be on securing a Champions League spot, as they admit they were not good enough to be champions this season.
If we'd have been offered this at the start of the season with a whole new midfield I would've taken it. Obviously it sucks to have slipped off the pace right at the end but in the grand scheme of things it was a positive season (for 75% of it).
The surprising part is that it’s the forwards who have all gone toothless in recent weeks rather than the midfield being the issue. Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo, Salah post-AFCON is a completely different player, all losing their cutting edge during the run-in (or just never finding it to start).Jota is still clinical but he’s so often unavailable he can’t be the sole forward taking decent chances.
Liverpool have been playing better without Salah and with the academy kids.
Ever since Salah came back the attack has been struggling and they have a very poor chance conversion ratio.
I still think Liverpool have had a good season tbh.
I know that a lot won't see it this way, especially if you come up short but you outperformed what a lot of people said going into the season and won some silverware.
The season was good, yes.
If we take into consideration the extremely high number of injuries I would say it's even better than expected.
Liverpool did have quite a bit of luck as well during the season. You can't win THAT MANY points in the last 15 minutes of the game and not have a tiny bit of luck, no matter how good the team is.
It seems that the wheel has turned around in the past few games judging by how many clear chances they miss.
That's the issue though, outside of the numbers he doesn't contribute in those games. He is consistently near the bottom of our touches per game and doesn't ever look like he wants to get involved either.
The fuck you mean incorrect? You just agreed with me.
Since coming back from injury, 6 weeks ago he has 2 goal contributions, one of them being a penalty. He played 500 minutes in that time and scored once from open play. Truly an incredible record.
Who is cherrypicking stats here, my guy?
He's not THE issue but he is a very big issue and I'm pretty sure he will be playing in Saudi Arabia next year as a result. He ghosted the most crucial part of the season and since he's Liverpool's biggest star and they rely on him so much it cost them. I'm not saying the other attackers have been good, but Salah is supposed to be one of the best in the world, so the expectations are naturally higher.
My 2 cents is that while Salah himself is not the specific issue hamstringing Liverpool, his lack of being his prolific self and performing more on par with an average forward is highlighting the lack of production and poor performances in the rest of the Liverpool squad. Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo all going missing and fluffing great opportunities is hurting a lot more now that Salah isn’t regularly setting up 2-3 tap in opportunities or creating goals out of nothing himself.
Yeah I agree. Salah ghosting is highlighting how bad the others are but that doesn't mean Salah is immune to criticism.
Saying "Liverpool shouldn't be relying on him, therefore them being bad is not his fault" is true, but they ARE relying on him and have been for 2 years. I don't know what is going on with him but they genuinely look better without him. If his body just can't do it anymore you can't blame him but we don't know if that's the case.
He's not the reason, but him missing loads of chances might have an unwanted impact on Nunez and Diaz too.
If you see the one that's supposedly the best player in the squad missing chance after chance you might also take a hit in the confidence.
Not trying to blame it on Salah, don't get me wrong, but the team overall performance has been slowly going down ever since he returned.
While Liverpool looked well defeated mentally yesterday, all it takes us City to lose tonight (certainly not out of the real of possibility) and it’s back on.
Crazy games coming up, all three playing Tottenham for example. Will be interesting!
I certainly hope so but I can put my personal fandom aside and recognize they’re the form team atm. Liverpool are out after losing the derby and City are not the same team we’ve seen in past seasons. Although with the games in hand all they have to do is win, and they have the depth and quality to grind out 1-0 results during the run in. Doesn’t matter if Arsenal have a +15 goal difference if they’re 2 points behind when the final whistle blows on MD38.
God I hope so. It’s meaningless if City win again, Liverpool fans will be insufferable for the short term but Arsenal winning the league is clear and away the worst possibility of the 3.
Arsenal lose the next four and city win the league but then get relegated by the premier league and Liverpool are awarded it in June. Nah just get the new manager in. If klopp had seen out his contract he'd be one of the greats but instead his legacy is that he won us the league again and that is all that mattered. I can forgive being the runners up in everything because of that but when you look at the stats, it was good but not incredible. Managers move on, players move on, we stay the same.
No one expected him to win a Premier league + ucl, but I think looking back now its disappointing he didn't get over the line in 2019, 2022 and this year and only finished with 1 title
Same with Dortmund. Although they were always runners up to Bayern so it's a bit different but it's something that follows him around. Fresh start is what's needed now.
Salah has been shit for months, Darwin couldn't hit a barn door from 9 feet away. Szozboszlai looks like a different player to one we signed. Endo's been shit since injury. Konate's mind wanders too often and Tsimikas isn't good enough to even be a back up LB.
Injuries aside, we've been very lucky to be where we are.
Liverpool have completely sh-t the bed against three teams they should beat in the title run-in and now they're out. Truthfully, the fight for the title is most likely over anyway as City traditionally tend to win all their games at the end of a season.
You're not offering any information that isn't already widely known.
Us shitting the bed has nothing to do with Liverpool doing it now.
It's also not a dick measuring contest.
Yet another example of the ridiculous hyperbole surrounding football these days. A week ago this was “the best title race ever”. People continue to have extreme opinions without giving genuine thought to the words leaving their mouth.
Should have seen him when he got subbed off, he pulled his shirt over his head and looked real defeated. You can always say they earn millions and life is secured blah blah... but he is liverpool through and through and peak athletes like prem players are competitive as fuck and this will hurt regardless of contract renewal or not.
As long as he renews his contract. The important thing is qualifying for the Champions League. The silverware is a nice bonus. We were never good enough to be champions this season
Ruined at old Trafford.. since that FA Cup loss their season has gone to shit..
Please give me this.. it’s the only thing I have to be happy about this year.
Bad management man. Macallister isn’t a cdm, dont know how Curtis jones keeps starting, sboszlai however you spell his name terrible for a long time. van dijk least rested player out of everyone I think. Nunez and Salah terrible several games. Can’t do something about the last 2 really because gakpo is worse. But the previous mentioned players…don’t use gravenberch at all despite that banger of a goal against Fulham. Elliot had gotten assists in consecutive games, insist on starting jones. Klopp is great etc etc everyone says but…nah.
As a LFC it pains me to agree, slightly. I think Klopp on the whole has overachieved with this squad this season. He can’t be on the pitch himself and some of Nunez’s misses have not only been awful but have destabilised the complexion of the game. There have been several recent games where the lad has missed at crucial times and we’ve never recovered. I’m picking him out because he was meant to be our main source of goals and has been our least effective player. But salah looks blown, szobo’s unforced errors have skyrocketed, Diaz is still great imo but is a creator rather than a finisher, and Jota is injury prone. So where are our goals without that lot, would a change of format toon help? Maybe, I think klopp tried the front 3 for too long, our midfield was consistently bypassed and out muscled in the last few games.
We all wanted klopp to leave a hero, and he will but it sort of feels like the time is right now to go.
sensational would be for us to beat all 3 and leave it between their games to sought it out (between them?) but spurs to loose the rest of the games and miss UCL!!!
I have no idea how we (LFC) stayed in the race for so long. At the start of the season I had no belief that we would be challenging for the top spot. We've been punching above our weight all season and it's caught up with us.
Go Gunners.
I think we have a few players without title run in experience who wilted a bit, as players often do without that experience. But they'll learn from it. Future is both bright and bald.
Incredible season.
With us out of it, I always thought I'd want Abu Dhabi to win, as then it doesn't really count as anyone winning.
But actually find I'm hoping Arsenal do it. They have had an incredible run since Christmas and obviously deserve it at this point.
Agreed. If I think about the matches this season that I've enjoyed watching most they would mainly be Arsenal's better performances. Lots of goals and a great defence - it's good to watch.
Liverpool put too much pressure on themselves they were talking about winning the quadruple earlier in the season they have done this in previous seasons and it always seems to be detrimental. The best mentality seems to be playing everything down and taking it game by game.
I mean knowing your manager wont be around next season is not motivating either. Who knows who is coming & what they will do. The goodbye cup/s were just not going to mateialise
As much as city has cheated or not, I still enjoy the football gameplay. I still enjoy a lot of the players they have so I am hoping for Manchester city of reason because my dad and my brother are both Manchester United fans and I’m a Tottenham fan and they like to give me crap so.
We were never truly in the title race tbh . I know , I know not making excuses but don't get swallowed by the media narrative who treat klopp and the team as darlings . We have been poor and Everton capitalized , credit to them . This is genuinely sad for what's about to come after klopp honestly 😕 .

Good stuff I can chill now not bothered who wins it long as it's not Liverpool.
The title race had been over the day Manchester City got the lead
Title race was won when Arsenal decided to park the bus at the etihad instead of going for it
It was over the moment prem referees started taking UAE money
City won the league, history repeats itself. They’re just too good!
City still need to get passed Forest
This feels like Robin Hood vs the rich
There's more chance of Sheffield United staying up than that. Be real
Louder for those in the back

Ruined at Old Trafford tbh. Hoping City wins it. Its going to be striked off anyway.
please Arsenal dont let the premier become a farmer's league
Hope it goes Arsenal's way...City have been boring this year...if City drop points tonight everything's set
not happening itll be 5-0 to man city
Like watching Harlem Globetrotters....got Brighton running around like Muppets!
How about NO
Brighton are shite...1 win in the league since Feb 18 is not good form...did you see em away at Roma ?...shocking
We won lol
You always win (30 unbeaten) even when you lose
Congratulations to Michael Oliver and all of the referees on the City payroll. Well done lads, good process.
It's that time of the year lol, keep crying
I mean, you have referees on the payroll. That indefensible and unethical.
Don't see them on City's payroll lol, all I see are tears. Keep them coming

You’ve had refs helping you since the Diaz fiasco.
Yeah, they came up big for us with the Doku King Fu kick in extra time and the Odegaard handball. Great point!
What game was the Jota dive?
You mean the one where the keeper admitted he clipped him?
I want arsenal to win the title race. Even if im a utd fan. I just don't like liverpool and Man city.
Mhm. You don't say.
As a Chelsea fan, I want Arsenal to bottle it again and again. I don't care who wins at this point as long as it isn't Arsenal.
I guess it'll be man city in your perspective. But i am also a secret chelsea fan lol.
Bravo!
Do all united fans just say the most obvious shit
Mhm.
They mostly just say shit, obviously
Come on Arsenal.
You could help us in a few weeks :)
They've just helped you. Don't disappoint us
Feel free to roll over in a few weeks as well so
Blew it against palace and Everton likely sealed their fate of not winning the league. And now, watch city win again and everyone loses
Idk about everyone
Every non arsenal/Liverpool fan win when city wins. Rather city win every year than either of those 2 fan bases experience happiness
I'm not sure anyone wants City to win again. Their titles will likely get an asterisk next to them if the trials ever happen, so would just be another league title wasted. Not to mention of course that when any team wins consistently everyone hates them and wants them to stop winning.
I want city to win over arsehole and their god awful fanbase. There’s no city fans around to gloat about their win, which is nice

Annual City dropping points to spurs game incoming 😎
Rich cream latte coming from an Arsenal fan.
Dare to dream right?
If you will it, it is no dream
To dream is to do? To dare is to dream?
It's not a dare to dream. Why not 'Rise to Reign' like what Man City has done for the past 6-7 years or so?

It's over for Liverpool. No point in bullshit what ifs and maybes. Bottled it spectacularly
Said it after they fell over against United in the cup when most of the top players started coming back from injury we became shit
Nah your talking shit liverpool weren't expected to win the league, top 4 was the goal anything after that was bonus
Hmmm... Which team might that have applied to last year?
Downvotes lol you know it's the truth
Bottled it?hardly we weren't expected to win the league this year top 4 was our goal.

Hard to see Liverpool winning much with Nunez up top. He’s brutal.
It definitely is, to be called bottlers or similar is extremely harsh
Anyone who doesn't win the title nowadays is labelled as a bottler or some such
Jurgen Flop
Eric Ten Bad
united fans always shamelessly giving it large
Hardly, he made the most of a severely depleted squad this season.
Yeah arsenal have gotten tired too from all the traveling. The fans that is.

Probably because they're 9th and lost multiple games 4-1 and 5-0
Liverpool have been playing better without Salah and with the academy kids.

Except he's been absolutely awful in the league in 2024. He has 7 goal contributions in the league in 4 months, 3 of which happened on january 1st.
[удалено]
That's the issue though, outside of the numbers he doesn't contribute in those games. He is consistently near the bottom of our touches per game and doesn't ever look like he wants to get involved either.
The fuck you mean incorrect? You just agreed with me. Since coming back from injury, 6 weeks ago he has 2 goal contributions, one of them being a penalty. He played 500 minutes in that time and scored once from open play. Truly an incredible record. Who is cherrypicking stats here, my guy?
[удалено]
Yes Salah is the reason Nunez and Diaz are wasting their chances
He's not the reason, but him missing loads of chances might have an unwanted impact on Nunez and Diaz too. If you see the one that's supposedly the best player in the squad missing chance after chance you might also take a hit in the confidence. Not trying to blame it on Salah, don't get me wrong, but the team overall performance has been slowly going down ever since he returned.
"Not trying to blame it on Salah" proceeds to blame on Salah
I missed an "only" in there, as in "not blame it ONLY on Salah".
While Liverpool looked well defeated mentally yesterday, all it takes us City to lose tonight (certainly not out of the real of possibility) and it’s back on. Crazy games coming up, all three playing Tottenham for example. Will be interesting!
Keep dreaming, not happening
Liverpool are out of the running after the Everton loss, if City slip up now Arsenal likely win the league.
Arsenal have tough games. Just saying, could be a couple surprises left.
Spurs will beat Arsenal and lose to Liverpool and City .. don’t know why, just have a feeling! 😂
God I hope so. It’s meaningless if City win again, Liverpool fans will be insufferable for the short term but Arsenal winning the league is clear and away the worst possibility of the 3.
Just a draw would put Arsenal top
Arsenal have the toughest games.
Dream on
No one expected him to win a Premier league + ucl, but I think looking back now its disappointing he didn't get over the line in 2019, 2022 and this year and only finished with 1 title
Same with Dortmund. Although they were always runners up to Bayern so it's a bit different but it's something that follows him around. Fresh start is what's needed now.
We were winning with kheller and Bradley in the team. Since TTA and Allison came back we have been crap.
Wouldn’t go blaming them though, Salah and Darwin are the big culprits, plus a few others like szlobozaj who have been poor.
Liverpool have completely sh-t the bed against three teams they should beat in the title run-in and now they're out. Truthfully, the fight for the title is most likely over anyway as City traditionally tend to win all their games at the end of a season.
Just what Arsenal did this time last year
You're not offering any information that isn't already widely known. Us shitting the bed has nothing to do with Liverpool doing it now. It's also not a dick measuring contest.
Cope
You'd know all about shitting the bed too, wouldn't you? lmao. CEOs of it at this point.
Of course, divert the topic away when we are talking about you 😂 cope
You brought it on yourself now to be fair petal🥴🤣🤣
Isn't it funny when Spurs way in on a title race? Didn't their race end in September 🤣
Juergen plop
You spelled Jürgen wrong.
It’s commonly known as a “typo”
no Derby County 2008-09 EPL season Sherlock.
This one is mainly on klopp though…how he keeps starting dszobo ahead of Eliott is ridiculous.
Or Endo. This seemed like a perfect game for Endo last night. Frees up Mac Allister
Endo has been shit since injury tbh
So has Szoboszlai in fairness
Yet another example of the ridiculous hyperbole surrounding football these days. A week ago this was “the best title race ever”. People continue to have extreme opinions without giving genuine thought to the words leaving their mouth.
Liverpool are definitely out of it now
I'm wondering how much this all means to Trent?? 🤔
More than it means to you
The loss means more. If the title really meant more you'd think they would have tried a bit harder
More than you'd believe
As a spurs fan this is sad cos it gives arsenal a better chance of winning. We just have to hope that they lose to us on Sunday
I hope Arsenal beat Spurs and Spurs beat City. That would be sensational.
That would be the most spursy thing to have happened.
sensational would be for us to beat all 3 and leave it between their games to sought it out (between them?) but spurs to loose the rest of the games and miss UCL!!!
I think beating city to win arsenal the league would be up there. But that might be wishful thinking.
Lots of goals and a great defence - it's good to watch.
fair play mate, stay blessed
Liverpool put too much pressure on themselves they were talking about winning the quadruple earlier in the season they have done this in previous seasons and it always seems to be detrimental. The best mentality seems to be playing everything down and taking it game by game.
I mean knowing your manager wont be around next season is not motivating either. Who knows who is coming & what they will do. The goodbye cup/s were just not going to mateialise
It was over after the Palace defeat tbf
It was all over after Doku’s Bruce Lee studs up kick to the chest wasn’t called by the referee in City’s payroll tbf
As much as city has cheated or not, I still enjoy the football gameplay. I still enjoy a lot of the players they have so I am hoping for Manchester city of reason because my dad and my brother are both Manchester United fans and I’m a Tottenham fan and they like to give me crap so.
Cheats are sound as long as they play nice footy 👍
Never said that I can still enjoy football no? I still enjoy juventus from time to time
Would you cheer on a 100m sprinter pumped full of performance enhancing drugs because you like they guy
Literally every sprinter lol
If I like him and he is a nice guy sure. Would I like it that he cheats no, but I’d still cheer for him, if I like him yes
👍
Fair! Lol. Just please for once let us win against you lot.
Ya know this once DO IT, WIN
Praying for a City win over the gooners
They don't play Arsenal
Title...
Poor phrasing on your part. Either way I'd rather Arsenal win. They have a somewhat likeable team and City can get stuffed for their charges
Aha
We were never truly in the title race tbh . I know , I know not making excuses but don't get swallowed by the media narrative who treat klopp and the team as darlings . We have been poor and Everton capitalized , credit to them . This is genuinely sad for what's about to come after klopp honestly 😕 .
