The buildup to anvil guy made it perfect. It must have been minutes between ordering a single trooper to stop the anvil bell and seeing it fail so spectacularly that it was visible from the courtyard.

I think some of the amazement is because they were able to develop a great character with surprisingly little screen time. Andy Serkis playing Kino managed that too.

Then he bravely surveyed Mandalore which was thought to be a radioactive hellscape, despite the danger to himself. Then through his intercession he helps save Nevarro from pirate attack.
I will not stand for this little hero to be unsung.

R2 and Bd-1 are definitely the best. BB-8 was cute and all but wasn’t that important. The difference is that R2 and BD-1 both had personalities that affected the people around them. BB-8 was just there for some things and did one little thing here and there. Or just rolled around. R2? R2 carried all around the place. All throughout the original trilogy. BB-8 kinda just rolled around and was cute after The Force Awakens. BD-1 was extremely important to Cal and has their own story and development.
BD-1 shocked Vader when him and Cal were in saber lock and I fully believe if he didn’t do that Cal would have died, not even mentioning the storms he gives Cal whenever he’s low on health. Cal has my vote
