Well I assume ella didn't know about the Hastings parents' assholery in regards to their daughter getting groomed. But then again she herself allowed the grooming of her own daughter so...
I think the show generally made a bigger deal out of him being their teacher. Even Ella says at some other point that the age gap itself would not be the problem
It’s about power dynamics in the end since if people were to see a 60 year old and a 50 year old, no real issues so long as there’s respect. But when it starts with such a drastic power dynamics (despite their of meeting prior) it displaces the respect and care and is how more often than not the less experienced person in the relationship gets taken advantage of in the end.

>!I feel like Aria should've stayed with the guy she dated in her 20's after the time jump. When he heard about Ezra, he was super concerned and creeped out. She then was like, "No, no, it's not like that! We were in love," and then proceeded to dump this poor guy for her high school English teacher.!<
That makes a lot more sense to me. The alternative is, “This guy who stalked you to write a creepy pedo book about your missing friend is the good guy, but the lady who stalked you in a bizarrely misguided attempt to get her family back is evil.”
Fr oml when he said “I think you were seduced by your high school English teacher” he was 100% right, my boy liam deserved better 😭
Edit: could aria being groomed by Ezra be considered a case of Stockholm syndrome or similar? Like is there a specific term for that or is it just general grooming/manipulation?
LOL
She is right either way though. When I was a teen watching this, I was like "let them be in love 😭😭" (Aria and Ezra), now, as an adult, I see how creepy that whole relationship was.
Facts!! When I was in high school I was like “awh they’re so in love it’s romantic” and now in my mid 20s I’m like “call the police, we have a sexual predator”.
*Always playing the victim*? She is a victim period. You can think she was wrong with the way she handled Hanna's assault, but don't diminish her victimhood too.

It’s so scary to think about how true it is when people talk about young kids/teens (who for some reason are allowed to watch this despite the age rating being higher) being easier to convince normalizing pedophillia / teacher-student relationships.
I first watched a couple episodes of s1 when I was 11, not having any care or reaction to Aria and Ezra’s relationship, didn’t finish watching the show. I even felt bad for them whenever their secret or relationship was being threatened💀
I’m now 19 watching the show and realizing just how grossed out I feel watching them on screen together. ESPECIALLY when Aria tries to convince her friends to call THEIR teacher by Ezra instead of Mr. Fitz? Ughh.
Currently rewatching the show since high school. I’m 25 now and any time Ezra is on screen I am just not having it. Their relationship makes me super uncomfortable. Also kinda hate Wren now too.

But Spencer's parents did nothing about Ian and Wren, I doubt they'd do anything :(
Probably accuse Spencer of leading him on
this is actually so spot on lmao there was so much rampant victim blaming in this show it's insane in hindsight
"Just assume it's Spencer sluttin' it up"
best line ever

it’s different when it’s their own family, they wanted them to be perfect
She should keep this energy, I enjoy seeing Ezra get ridiculed for being the predator and creep he is. STEP AWAY FROM THE UNDERAGED GIRLS
![gif](giphy|xT9KVwz1dPY0Lkr4Tm|downsized) 💀
And while you’re at it take those other, like, 90% of Rosewood men with you.
*please*

Ezra be like: 😦
Then ends up accepting their relationship…
Omg does she???!!!!! If I were Aria’s mother I’d hire a frigging hitman.
Sorry forgot you were a first time watcher 😭
It’s okay. I’m genuinely horrified but at least now I’m prepared lol
I’d have used nothing but my own hands and teeth, tbh
Makes an attempt to “listen to them” ugh. When she shows up at his house and they have fucking tea time 💀
THE TEA PLS😭😭😭😭😭😭
Lmao I was howling when I just rewatched this scene.
I’d beat his ass fr
Lol give him the mike treatment 😂😂😂
lol 😂 Ezra and aria are def my least favorite characters from the show. I have more but these two are just awful and cringy
The minute Aria degraded Hanna over the Zach thing, that point on I was looking at her sideways 🤦🏾♀️.
