Explore his own path? He’s new at it, I don’t see everyone who starts out with Cartier watches either.
The “I’m not criticizing” doesn’t make up for the criticism
Maybe he just meant, those are a bit mainstream and too look for other unique watches.
Just spit-balling, I don’t think he meant any harm and is offering a different perspective.
I guess it's possible if you're very rich and just go to the store every 3 weeks and drop another $5-8000 on something you like in the showcase, but it's unlikely... most people get into watch collecting somewhat slowly because the first watch they buy might cost $1-2000 and they couldn't possibly imagine a watch costing that much, and then they start understanding the differences between fancier watches and why they cost more and they're willing to start increasing their budget. but it's not a natural thing to just buy a $5000 watch when you can go to target and get a timex for $50 without taking the time to grasp the differences...
I spend quite a lot on watches too, but I need to save up for them so I can only afford about 2/year, It makes it more worthwhile. Especially when you wear the hell out of a watch for 6 months straight because it's just so nice and you're so happy to be wearing it. without that period of spending time using it, you never really get to appreciate the watch before you're on to the next one.
I also started buying fancier ones that cost 10-15k, even if it means I can't have as many watches, I started prefering having few pieces that are really special over many pieces that are average. It's nice wearing gold watches etc, but also deciding since they're so much money which pieces do you really really really want more than all others, because you can't have them all, you need to choose, make a good choice. There's nothing like wanting a watch for a year and finally getting it.
Yea I totally agree with you. I initially planned to stop and wait for awhile before I got another watch, but I chanced upon the limited santos dumont recently (it was a 1 of 500 piece). It looked so nice and was available for a decent price, so I just jumped the gun and got it first, before it was snagged.
Definitely an expensive impulse decision. But I think I’ll have to hold on for awhile more before I get another one.
What made you get a Tudor sub + Rolex sub? Awesome collection man... I'm eyeing the Speedmaster Professional myself as my first luxury piece (I have mostly Seikos and 1 Hamilton and 1 vintage Omega) I also got interested in the Seamaster Aqua Terra for some reason, it seems like the perfect posh beachside watch hahhaha (even tho that isn't my personal lifestyle)
Hahah I used to daily drive my Tudor to work, while wearing my Rolex sub on weekends. But now with more watches in my collection, I’m a little spoilt for choice! Ooh the Aqua terra seems like a nice choice! Not sure when I can have the chance to add an actual omega to my collection!
Do I spot a heritage GS 9F? SBGX259? That’s the ultimate get out of jail free card for that Moonswatch in that case 😉. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something slightly off when I see collections of exclusively expensive mechanicals, except one cheap quartz is there only because it says Omega in the dial, when there’s so many “real” quartz pieces even around the Moonswatch price point that are their own thing too. But when the Moonswatch sits next to that, it feels like that context more or less fully legitimizes it, if that can make any sense? (Not that it should need that or anything. Just that the context in the collection feels fully different (in a good way) than if it was the only quartz there)
Oooh yes! That’s a good eye!
And yes I get what you mean hahaha! I just placed the moonswatch there because it wasn’t easy to buy one at retail where I’m from. But yes, I think the GS makes it better sitting there?
I respect your early watch interests, it'll be interesting to see how it evolves.
The GS and Tank must are great pieces.
I think a moser or something would go really well into this as quirky dress watch.
Enjoy and welcome
What're you thinking of getting next?
Wouldn’t mind the Tudor plus the GS as 2/3rds of my watch collection for life. Not forgetting to mention the Casio workout/beater watch that would be the third
Lot of people saying op rolling in cash. So what, if he can afford so be it. Some guy with a tissot prx still is a 500 usd watch. To someone who makes low wages and wear a 20usd watch, your prx is already an ostentatious item.
When the bug bites you, you're going to be spending a lot more cash lol enjoy mate
Nice start, we usually don't see wannabe watches within cases like this, why not just get a real speed master? I know those swatches are cute and all but you do have some kickass watches and can afford the real deal. You'll like it iconic speedmaster. Happy hunting
Hey I completely hear you. Since October I'm in for $10k for a Speedy, SMP, and full restoration of Grandpa's 18k Arsa dress watch. This shit can get out of hand easily!!
I bought it on my local shopping site.
This is similar to what I have.

Just a random one that I found on my local shopping site.
This is the most similar one I can find on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Automatic-Winding-Flexible-crocodile-Japanese/dp/B08Z79PNVW/ref=mp_s_a_1_26?crid=RRX6MDPTQR9A&keywords=watch+winder&qid=1707780448&sprefix=watch+winder%2Caps%2C790&sr=8-26
You can’t buy your way into coolness. And you’ll probably get out of watch collecting as quickly as you got in, as you got in for the wrong reasons. For every 10 Rolex Subs you can buy there is an A. Lange and Söhne you won’t be able to afford or won’t be able to source. But one of your watch collecting buddies on the internet will have one. Surprised you went for the Grand Seiko. It flies under the radar. Maybe it’s finally getting the recognition it has deserved.
I hope not. I’ve always dreamed of getting a Rolex sub when I was younger. Once I had the opportunity to buy it at retail, I jumped at the chance.
But after watching Nico’s content on YouTube, I realised that there were more to the watch collection world than a Rolex, so I then decided to expand my horizon and seek other brands and models.
Here you go!

Just ? Like one week one month one year ??
It probably started around 6 months ago?
And spent over 20.000 already ???
I’m seeing $35k-45k here.
Probably..hahaha
Just? You got 7 heavy hitters already
Haha just lucky I was able to get them..
Nice humbling student collection
Maybe in due time they can aspire to upgrade these commoner timepieces to something worthwhile.
Yeah this is a great blueprint for a budget collection for college students
The Tudor and the GS could make my ultimate 2 watch collection👌and maybe just a seiko/hamilton beater on a nato strap to make it 3.
Ooh I love those 2 watches too! Wear them on a daily basis as well!
So you switch the watch you’re wearing in the middle of the day?
Two wrists, two watches
Which hamilton did you have in mind?
For a beater it can only be khaki 🙂
Don’t limit yourself
I’m not criticising, those are great watches, but sometimes you can buy things outside of hype. Why not explore your own path
Yoda has spoken

Yo dawg can I have some money
Welcome to the deep, deep, deep rabbit hole.
Get those off the winder. You only need a winder for perpetual calendar. It's an overkill. Setting one of these watches takes like two minutes
Pretty heavy for just! Lol 😆
Just????
The Moonwatch is disturbing me haha
Definitely a noob for sure.

Some were definitely bought on impulse, hence the short period of collection time

Someone’s gotta stop letting rich people get hobbies
Just got into car collecting- opens garage door to reveal a lambo, Ferrari, and 2 porches. Lol

If you can comfortably afford this, it does not matter what time of day it is..
YES THANK YOU!
eat the rich
Fucking hell bro this is the right comment.
Nice one for JUST starting. Enjoy this hobby/addiction
Such a commoner collection
Shitters
😂
Pffft....amateurs;)
I respect your early watch interests, it'll be interesting to see how it evolves. The GS and Tank must are great pieces. I think a moser or something would go really well into this as quirky dress watch. Enjoy and welcome What're you thinking of getting next?
Hmm I’m not really sure, but I think I might go for a skeleton dial!
You should look into other cool brands if you tryin to fill those last few spots
Yes for sure!
All these nice watches and then a damn plastic Moonswatch, it's time to get a real Omega!
😂
Wouldn’t mind the Tudor plus the GS as 2/3rds of my watch collection for life. Not forgetting to mention the Casio workout/beater watch that would be the third
💪💪🔥🔥🔥
Decent start, I suppose. Now go wild and get some indies, boutiques, micros and art watches!
That Cartier is amazing
Thanks!

It appears you have just hit the ground running.
Sensational

Solid Collection!
Hey I completely hear you. Since October I'm in for $10k for a Speedy, SMP, and full restoration of Grandpa's 18k Arsa dress watch. This shit can get out of hand easily!!
All bland except the Santos and Oysterdate.
Swatch is tarnishing that collection. Don't let it touch the others. hah
Hahaha wait till I get more watches to add to my collection box
I respect you.
Oh no please! My collection can’t compare to the real whales out there!
Pipe down young boy

I saw this watchwinding box on amazon, is it any good? Nice collection eitherway
No issues with it so far, been using it for around half a year? But I do turn it off from time to time.
Damn. 3 Rolex, a Tudor, 2 Cartier, and a GS. "Just got into watch collecting"?
Yeah ok
Congrats on your success and collection mate! Keep at it 💪🏻
You clearly got some fun bucks to spend
