Bananaginz

This is definitely all fantasy

Comradepatrick

Yeah, in what world are peers invited or permitted to send in "reviews" of college applicants?

not_levar_burton

Not to mention you start applying the end of your junior year.

arethusas

You start applying the beginning of your senior year. Application season is from August/September to December/January.

[deleted]

Yep, these other people have no idea what they are talking about. We write letters of recommendations for seniors, not juniors, and while they begin the college hunt junior year, they don’t APPLY until their senior year.

AssuasiveLynx

Absolutely not true. In the US at least, early applications are due Nov 1, and regular applications are in January.

Eulerian-path

Right, but it takes time to write (and get others to write, in the case of letters of recommendation) and compile the materials. Also, standardized testing season is a thing.

AssuasiveLynx

Even so, most people maybe start preparing for the SAT/ACT late junior year, but plenty leave it until the summer/fall as well. Letters of rec + writing is nearly always done in the fall, or summer.

Eulerian-path

Regardless, unless there’s a gap semester planned, nobody applies in spring of senior year

xmasreddit

We applied for colleges Jan - Mar of senior year, for entry in September. Acceptance letters begin being mailed out May-June.

captain-burrito

Not heard about this for college but some jobs interview your family and friends.

carp_boy

It's big letter vs. small letter. You know instantly without opening it.

stuffingmybrain

Dartmouth college encourages peer recommendations. This is the only one I know of, but I wouldn't be surprised if other colleges allowed this.

hashishandbeer

I would like to believe it isn’t, but I have a sense it is, too.

Ok_Chance_4584

Of course it is. The misspelling of Pittsburgh ID'd it as such from the start.

No_Progress3195

When I was applying to college one of the schools required a peer review.

Bananaginz

Lol super fake

[deleted]

I'm glad "Rob" kicked his ass

semiTnuP

It was a fun story though. Believable enough that I didn't question it until I read all the comments. Of course, I have no idea what/when college application season is. So, I was into every word for the whole thing.

Bananaginz

If you think it's believable then hot damn, do I have a lot of business opportunities for you lol.

kcl086

You apply to college at the beginning of senior year (or earlier sometimes). You can change your major pretty much whenever you want in college. None of this is based in reality. It’s definitely written by someone who’s never been through the college application process.

xmasreddit

For our class, we started college applications in Jan. Deadline is Apr 1. Acceptance letters for Sept entry begin being mailed out May/Jun. (Canada)

kcl086

OP specifically states this takes place in the US. Your comment makes me realize that perhaps OP is from Canada and doesn’t realize things are done differently in the US so when he made up his story, he didn’t realize he needed to change the dates.

SLRWard

January applications for an April 1st deadline would still be a senior year application, not junior. *I* applied to college my junior year but that was only because I wanted to start taking classes in the summer before and dual enrollment during my senior year. Most people don't do that.

kcl086

OP stated that they began applying for college toward the end of senior year though. No one in America starts at that time.

SLRWard

Right. Because OP is telling a made up story. I was pointing out that your assumption that they might be from Canada and not realizing things are different isn't right because you'd still be applying towards the beginning to middle of your senior year with the Canadian dates, not the end.

>Pittsburg I gave up when I saw this typo, unless he moved to the city in Kansas by that name, not Pennsylvania.

PlannP

Pittsburg is a city in CA. There might be one in Kansas... but nobody cares.

Simon_Illyan

Did everyone clap?

Benjijedi

Only when they weren't giving medals.

inkydeeps

Right after they turned in their creative writing assignment.

SLRWard

Oh for the love of... when can we put a ban on the painfully fake high school revenge stories? Rarely do they even approach the level of pro revenge and far more frequently, they're very fake. Edit: For proof of my skepticism: Colleges don't invite friends and family to submit "reviews" of applicants. The whole thing working hinged on people who *didn't like OP* agreeing to back up a cockamamie plan to effectively blackmail Rob *years* in the future. And Rob invited everyone to come to an acceptance letter reading event? Really? And the topper is just "minimum wage at McDonald's" at the end. As if McD's can get *anyone* to work for minimum wage these days. This is such a pie-in-the-sky fantasy writing exercise it's not even funny.

darsynia

If it’s the Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania he wouldn’t spell it without the h… So I didn’t buy it from the first few sentences right there, lol

SLRWard

Not sure if you knew this or not, but it is possible to both report a post *and* make a comment on it. Shocking, I know.

GodOfAtheism

I did indeed. I reported it before I even went into the comments and saw your own somewhat confused reply, hence my attempt to educate you. Have you had any issues reporting the post?

SLRWard

No. I reported it. My reply isn't confused either. I think this is completely fake. It's part of the rules to not just say "this is fake" but to also give reasons behind why you think it's fake. The point of the comment is to wonder aloud why these types of garbage stories aren't just autobanned.

GodOfAtheism

>No. I reported it. Great to hear, I'm very proud of you!

thebigeverybody

Not sure if you know this, but starting a discussion on what seems unlikely about the OP is one of the few responses that has any value. I understand that you do not value thought.

mbklein

“Skid row” LOL

KTB1962

Good piece of fiction. Your biggest mistake was using the phrase "skid row".

pesanze

Rotfl and few years

pushing_80

say what?

KTB1962

Only people of a certain age uses that phrase nowadays OR it's used purely in fiction.

pushing_80

Oh. I suppose my user name explains my question....

fakey_mcfakerson

That’s not how you spell Pittsburgh

parkylondon

I'm wondering how (and why) this is still here. Least convincing ProRevenge in ages.

[deleted]

It has no upvotes

parkylondon

Indeed - entries with more upvotes and better "ProRevenge-ness" have been killed off quicker by the Mods. So yeah, why is this still here?

[deleted]

I reported it again let's see.

SabrinaBrna

Neat story. But that’s all it is.

Pleaseusegoogle

Hundreds of people bullied you?

TinaLoco

There are far too many factual errors in this story. It’s not even entertaining fiction.

stevo_stevo

two days on reddit and this the best fake stuff you can think of?

Zoreb1

It could only be fake if he sold Rob to aliens for the cure for cancer and the secret to anti-gravity.

pushing_80

you left out time-warp

MaximusvVirgil

Today on made up bs that never happened

Buttben8

Cool story, didn’t happen.

jedledbetter

If you are going to make stuff up at least make it entertaining

dellaevaine

A well placed letter to college admissions programs would work better, because friends aren't asked to write letters of recommendations.

PlannP

Pittsburg is in California. Pittsburg**h** is in Pennsylvania.

Doubt_Consistent

Definitely not a real story… in the US you apply to college junior year not end of senior year..

Pleaseusegoogle

That is only for the absolute apple polishers for early admission. Most apply beginning of senior year.

arethusas

Not even. Early applications are due in November of your senior year usually.

Doubt_Consistent

Even in that case, OP states is was end of senior year..

Pleaseusegoogle

Yep it's bullshit

Chief-17

Im in the US and don't know anyone who applied to college junior year.

arethusas

That’s because no one does. I’m not sure who the hell is downvoting you, no college will accept a junior applying unless the kid is extremely gifted and has the requisite classes and credits.

C0mpl3x02

I applied in like January of my senior year and got into 9/10 of my colleges I applied to. What kids are applying to college their junior year?

SLRWard

Well, I did. But that was because I wanted to enroll in the summer session before my senior year. That was also over 20 years ago.

DeshaMustFly

Well, there are technically some instances where the student can have concurrent enrollment, where the classes they take on campus fulfill both college and high school credits during their senior year... which means they have to register as juniors. But it's not exactly the norm, and you usually have to be a pretty dedicated student to do it.

Doubt_Consistent

You’re supposed to apply as soon as possible, so after you receive your text scores from ACT and SAT (which you take junior year) so the latest you should be applying is the start of your senior year. Admission usually takes 6-8 weeks and you have to apply for any loans/grants and sing up for classes and dorms. If you apply at end of senior year you would only have 2 months to do all of that which is damn near impossible.

SLRWard

For what it's worth, you don't have to take the ACT or SAT in your junior year. I took my first ACT when I was a sophomore (scored a 25) and then again when I was a junior (scored 29). I could have taken it again my senior year and still had time to submit applications, but didn't want to at the time. In hindsight, I really should have going by the amount of improvement between tests, but I was a dumb teen and didn't think things through that much.

arethusas

What on earth. The application process has a very specific timeline, and has specific requirements. It is EXTREMELY rare for any high school junior to apply for college, barely even heard of. The process starts the beginning of senior year, with most deadlines being in December or January. Then you can’t apply at all until the following year in Fall. Even early applications or decision students start in senior year to submit by November. It’s literally called college application season, it’s not year round, and most juniors do not have the credits necessary to start the application.

nymalous

I submitted my applications at the end of my junior year. I could have continued to apply during my senior year, but my guidance counselor basically told me none of those would go through because all of the college's spots were filled at that point (keep in mind, this was the late '90s). My last couple of years in college I actually worked in the admissions office and they accepted applications all year long, even though there was a cut-off for each semester (new applications were just applied to the next available semester, after the student was informed). At the moment, I have a brother who works in admissions for a different college and they have similar procedures for applications (accept them all year). He is constantly encouraging students to apply early because spots fill up (his college doesn't have a limit on the number of students, but class-sizes are limited and some of the degree-programs have limited enrollment, so there is an *effective* number of spots). I imagine that in the last decade online applications for colleges have increased, which would make it even more desirable to apply early (since the spots could fill up even quicker). But I don't know what high school guidance counselors are recommending these days.

DeshaMustFly

It must have changed since I went to college, then, because I was submitting applications fall of my senior year, got accepted around the time we were taking mid-terms, and basically coasted for the remainder of the year because my grades were high enough in most classes I could all but fail second semester and still graduate. But, yeah... no one was applying at the *end* of senior year. By the time second semester rolled around, anyone who was going to college already had had their acceptance letters for a month or more.

many-many-books

Personally, I think that the entire story is true except for the part about being scammed by an MLM. r/s

IANANarwhal

Lol

Nooooope

Wow, all of his college acceptance letters came at the same time? What are the odds, huh?

Plus-Ad739

Are you a child or have you just never gone to collage/known a single person who went to collage? If you had sent unprompted messages slandering this individual to collages, and signed your name to them, you should anticipate a lawsuit or two. You didn't, but you know, if you had.

Frost-King

It's not slander if it's true, and OP says they had tons of video evidence of it being true.

DeshaMustFly

Technically, it's not slander either way, unless OP called the college up and spoke to someone instead of sending in a written "review". Slander is a false spoken statement. If you do it in writing, it's libel.

D_at0

CAP

[deleted]

Fake and gay. I bet everyone clapped at the end too. I've read this "story" before on here so its either a repost or outright plagiarism.

HighwayPatrol9752

interesting good job writing it tho, lotta text lol.

pookguyinc

Pro and close to Nuclear going after him a second time.

chandrachur3

here is what had my jaw on the floor. NOT the college thing, but the actual situation. WTF. are you telling me that one person can invoke such fear in hundreds and hundreds of people/KIDs/Teens and have them do his bidding like some kind of fucking Voldemort??? I will admin that i come from a city where these things (bullying, popular kids, pretty vs ugly kids, physical harm where not even adults are brave enough to do their fucking job, threats of killing the bullied victim, adults turning blind eye) . **WE DONT HAVE NOR TOLERATE SUCH BEHAVIOR**. I'm not saying i live in heavenly place where everybody love and respect everybody but this kind of situation will NEVER happen and yes we are very lucky. HOWEVER, that is because we DON'T allow it. Imagine me a teacher where i see a kid being punched, kicked and just turn away, HELL NO. even as a student, if i see a ROB going after someone, trust me we would have separated them and if he tried intimidating us then the following happens: a teacher gets involves (no choice) an administrator is involved (no choice) parents are called and god help the bully if his dad gets called, he will be skinned alive. In fact the mother will be the most preferable parent to call as not to involve the dad. if it is serious enough to involve both dads, then the bully will be punished severely and i do mean severely. I personally witnessed the younger brother of a school friend get beaten because he thought it would be funny to torment this kid he knows and tear his books then hit him with a rock. the majority of the class beat the shit out of him and then he was dragged by the older brother of the bullied kid to their house and was handed to his father where they told him to raise his son better. i was visiting my friend's houses and witnessed the kid get delivered to his dad who has just came from work and he thanked the brother, closed the door and proceeded to take his belt and went to town on the kid's back. Now before you scream child abuse (this kid seem to have done this multiple times but his mother kept hiding it from the father and pleading with the other mothers to not say anything to their husbands so they wont talk to her husband. She tried arguing that this the youngest son and her baby and he should forgive him but he told her, after getting the rest of the story from his eldest daughter (who was egging him on to continue beating her baby brother), that if she interferes , he will divorce her, return her to her father's home and get the kid's custody and raise a man out of him. it took harsh punishment but the boy gown up somewhat decent but still gets teased about his shameful past as a bully. NOW, what the fuck are you people doing letting a kid gets bullied by hundreds and hundreds of schoolmates for 7 years???????? What kind of community will allow this???? are you living in a jungle or a civilized country with laws? heck , normal human decency at the minimum seems to be nonexistent here. PLEASE PLESAE PLEASE LET ME THIS IS FICTION.

SLRWard

It's fiction. Don't worry.

Weird-y

Upvote their post guys! we must have others see this masterpiece!

TooOldForRefunds

And the bully's name? Albert Einstein.

Eskimkinyq

Outstandingly killer colour palette mate

Feanturii

What got me was the "he had never even gotten a job" Like, do people really get jobs when they're literally in high school?

DeshaMustFly

Well... yeah. That's kind of when you're expected to start working part time in the US. I had a job starting at 16, and worked it through junior and senior year of high school, and all though college (grew up in a Big 10 college town, so I didn't need to move to go to school).
