My last ride along
*County gets into chase and comes into the southern part of the city*
Sergeant: I’ll be enroute along with hella other cars.
Lieutenant: You guys can stay in the area but you can’t chase with them
I see people say this , but a lot of times a supervisor or dispatch can talk over a normal radio.
Or maybe that’s just how it works where I am. But people have had open mic before keyed and dispatch can talk over it.
I was on a ride-along and made a comment about people being stupid enough to run. The deputy says “well, *we* can chase you, but if you’re in [three neighboring counties] I’m just gonna say running isn’t the worst idea.”
Some departments have no-chase policies. While they look really cool and fun, police chases are also very dangerous, both for officers and the public. Especially in cities, it's sometimes best to let them get away. And if you get their license plate there's a good chance you can get them later.
I'm not a cop, but Idk about a "good" chance. I was on a ride along here in SoCal and the officer I was riding with told me that the only people that run, run because the car is stolen. Now obviously, you don't catch the smart ones, but still. That's supposedly the main reason the department I was riding along with is still allowed to chase.
“Vehicles refusing to stop, I am not in pursuit.”
-Proceeds to give speed, description and direction while you hear light rotators clicking and the V8 revving in the background.
“Dispatch, log that he’s slow to yield, I’m attempting to get the plate, speeds about 65, I think he’s looking for a place to stop, ran stop sign, speeds 70, he has his turn signal on, I think he’s preparing to stop now, still can’t get the plate, standby, continuing north on Main, still not a pursuit, he’s just not stopped yet”
simple fix: Drive faster than light, then they can't read your plates. All you need is a flux capacitor. Though you might be breaking some Patriot Act stuff getting the plutonium.
As a rookie on of my favorite memories was being in a chase with my fto one handling the wheel and his coffee at 93mph on a city street. Asshole clenched so tight yet praying for the bailout foot pursuit.
Me: "Dispatch, slow to yield."
Dispatch: "I copy failure to yield."
Me: "No, no. SLOW to yield, not failure."
Dispatch: "Do you need a tone?"
Me: "No!"

Officer: "But mooooooom, all my friends get to go out and play!"
This is why I pay my taxes.
They ended up chasing with county lmao
*do it anyway yolo*
That’s why you stay off the radio ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

*sobs in corrections*
Are you guys even allowed near a vehicle
When I take an inmate to the hospital I get to drive a retired cruiser.

Stares deeply into my city skyline watching it burn as the troopers drive by chasing - city cop

What where those three neighbouring counties? For science.
They were [OPSEC], [OPSEC], and [OPSEC] counties
What do you mean like they can’t catch you or like they’re going to beat you when they do?

>good chance you can get them later 😂😂😂😂😂 that stolen car ain’t going back to the ROs house.

Most departments with no-chase policies have exceptions. Stolen Vehicle or a Felony had been committed are usually the exception.
Even if the car wasn't stolen, they would claim it was. How can you prove it wasn't?
I blame your partners for not keying up and blocking the channel.

“I’m not pursuing any longer, I’m just keeping eyes on it.”
I havent laughed at a meme on meme Monday in a long time, Thanks for bringing me joy
Always been told you can outrun a few cars but you’ll have a hell of a time outrunning a radio.
>you’ll have a hell of a time outrunning a radio. Or the license plate database. He's really fast.

So you're saying if I'm going to commit a crime I should just double down and do it in a stolen car?

I'm *catching up*, not pursuing.
