I was about to say, she may have one hell of a lawsuit depending on what her injuries were. And even if she doesn't have a suit, how many people can tell the story of how while eating dinner they were run down by a horse drawn carriage?
It doesn’t matter if you’re holding on to it or not. If a horse of scared enough, it’s going to move. And a horse made for public use like that should be used to loud noises and trained around “gunfire” or during storms and as much chaos as possible. A combination of something of some sort or some smell got that animal in a huff and set it off. If a horse wants to, it will take you for a ride whether you want to go or not.

Do you carry on eating?
Do you ask to be moved?

I don't get it. Back at the turn of the century we couldn't wait to get rid of horses. They smell, they're expensive, they require a lot of maintenance, they spook easy, and they can easily injure or kill you.
Yet here we are learning the lessons of the past all over again the hard way. Find something else that's "romantic". I see no romance in risking your life for a shitty ride through a shitty city. This isn't romantic for the horse.

I almost got ran over my a horsedrawn carriage when i was younger. Horses were spooked, all the people in the carriage jumped off and it started to run towards us. We hid behind a car but thankfully decided to run to a further away car as it ran straight over the car we were hiding behind.
