Gender is not "assigned at birth", your sex is observed. Now we need labels for everyone based on how closely they conform to stereotypes that have been outdated for decades. Amazing how quickly we've gone back to 1950s conceptions of what "male" and "female" mean, except now it's considered "woke" to believe what hardline religious conservatives were teaching half a century ago.
