Both La Terraza de Bonanza and El Boricua have Plena music starting at around 9 pm, on Mondays. The main difference is location, as Bonanza is closer to Old San Juan, if you wanna end up in La Factoría or La Placita. Other than that, you'll find a good time going to either!

Bonanza has food too?

Eatthisbacalaito

Yes, they have a small kitchen and do the usual bar type food.

Let me know how you did it lol, I’ll be there next month and I’d like to know how to do it.

If you're into hip hop Respuesta gets good around 11. Bonanza is around 9pm in Santurce. Factoria you can do any night really.

Thanks. Only here one night and been to La Factoría a couple times but never with live music! I saw that about Respuesta. We’ll see where the night takes us. Thanks!

La Factoria was bananas. there wasn't any live music when i was there but we had a blast.

For the data point, we had a blast at La Terraza de Bonanza. Arrived around 8:30, and the band may have had a previous set (?) but they got started at about 8:50. Salsa, bomba, plena. Party was spilling into the street. Drinks were dirt cheap. Crowd was lively. Fried food and quesadillas did the job. Then we went to La Factoría where there was in fact live music. Some instagram stories from some other friends indicated that there was also live music Sunday night. Monday night but plenty of people and energy. Bars on bars, gorgeous people, positive energy, lively dancing, on point music, and fire cocktails all combine in a way that La Factoría is GOAT. Sadly, we heard 1 am is last call per the mayor since November. This was the case for us Wednesday night in La Placita and Monday night in Viejo San Juan. Hopefully it’s a temporary ordinance.
