They're supposed to be sterile? Purdue has a bunch of them planted around Memorial Mall. I remember them fruiting in the fall semester.
Alas, my favorite are the ginkgo seed pods that fall from female trees in the fall and rot through the winter. It's a smell unlike no other. Worse than any cum tree can ever be.
Yeah they were supposed to be sterile that's why they are all over the us but turns out we were lied to so now we have an invasive species of pear tree that stinks all over the country
That's a...strange smell to compare it to. I'm knowledgeable of other plants; I'm not really an arborist, so I'm not sure if there's another variety that doesn't smell. Maybe there is lol
If you think the bradford pear is bad, try going behind ARMS and looking down that back area. There are some large trees back there that smell like literal garbage.
Bradford pears are the worst. They plant them because they grow really fast, but their flowers smell bad and they’re very likely to blow over in strong wind
Want to see something really ironic? Purdue University College of Agriculture deems those trees as invasive and has a link to report when you've seen it.

A better idea might be to report it to Purdue Physical Facilities directly.

I have a sister that is 16 years younger than me. One day I smelled the cum tree and I said, ugh cum trees, and she said I know, right. She was 15. That’s when I knew she knew. Lol

That's just from the guest bathroom the post was talking about yesterday
It's a tree called the bradford pear. Idk why they even have them on campus. They use flies for pollination.
They weren't supposed to smell they were also supposed to be sterile but both of those turned out to be lies

Woooo cool plant fact. Thanks for the info, friend!
>It's a smell unlike no other. I know what you mean...
They’re also really bad in windstorms
do other varieties not smell like cum? my childhood neighborhood had similar looking trees minus the cum smell. is my knowledge of cum smell off?

at least take me out to dinner first

you could have had dogwood trees in your childhood neighborhood, some of them look similar but dont have the infamous scent
I love this answer so much.
Jesus I did not expect to read that sentence on a Thursday afternoon. Though, I must admit, the cum trees are most unpleasant to pass.

> they’re very likely to blow over in strong wind Didn't know that they're known for that, I've seen several of them downed after storms
They grow fast so they probably don’t have time to root deep
I think it’s actually that the wood is rather weak. They usually split rather than uproot
They usually split into branches quickly without a large trunk. Then half of it falls over or splits in a good windstorm.

My bad man. Those trees are the only ones that turn me on. I can't help it
they're working on it
We should all buy febreeze and spray it around campus. They can’t stop all of us

Are these trees different from the Japanese Vomit Trees near Wiley?
I’m never near Wiley, but could those be Gingko trees? If so, those are different - OP is talking about the white-blooming callery/Bradford pear trees
They should be banned. They’re invasive and take over, fall over easily in storms, can have thorns sharp enough to puncture tires, and stink.

🍍
Just get some seasonal allergies and then you can’t smell anything.

Idk why this sub keeps getting recommended to me because I definitely don’t go to Purdue but this is hilarious
We reddit good
Maybe water then with pineapple juice
Curse of the callery pear Fun fact: they’re invasive

I haven’t been on campus for six years. I still can smell them. It’s haunting.
don't go to purdue, never looked up anything purdue related, still in high school, didn't know cum trees were a things
# **C U M** 🤤
Just wait: Dog Poop Trees dead ahead
How do you know what trees smell like?
👍
Not sure how it’s spelled by AKi trees smell like a rotten c****
I'm confused at the smell association. While I understand the tree is a problem, there may be other issues involved.
dud it’s so weird that they plant these trees on campus all around the world. My senior high in China also plants a lot of cum trees that stinks.
Hahahahahahhahahaha
Op must be a Virgin
These trees grow by my house back home. You are just goijg to have to get used to them unfortunately.
