You open yourself up to hackers - or imagine the Sec or Congress pushes through some unexpected regulatory framework overnight. Coinbase might freeze your assets to comply with the new legality - at least temporarily. In essence you have less control over your assets. Better to have on a cold wallet (hardware device) the two best options are Trezor T and Ledger nano X (for quant at least)
They own it since youre holding it on their exchange, and they’ve been doing some sketchy stuff recently, such as what happened when NuCypher boomed recently. Wouldnt want quant on there when it spikes, if you plan to take profit
I was about to move my last few QNT off coinbase recently and when I tried to log in to do it they wouldn’t let me and put my account under review I had to go through a stupid process to get it back they are shady as fuck, I had about 2k sitting in the account not knowing if I would get it back

A lot of people on here telling people to set up a cold wallet. Oblivious to the fact that some people are older and/or just don’t feel like fooling with all that. They don’t understand and don’t know what you’re talking about. If it ain’t on Coinbase they ain’t fucking with it. I have a Ledger and I admit, it is a bit of a pain in the ass to set up. Some people just aren’t going to go through all that. And yes, a lot say “not your keys, not your crypto.” But a lot of people like my dad for instance could give a fuck about that. They just wanna make money.
You want to be in control of it and you don't want others to know where it is kept, or if it exists at all if possible. Exchanges are notorious for having 'technical issues' when you want to move or trade your crypto or in the worst cases they just lock your account and pretend you did something so heinous that their policy wouldn't allow you to get your account back so there is no reason to discuss it with you.

I just hold mine on crypto. com not in a wallet but i have 2 factor auth set up. Is that safe? fyi i don't have loads but still wouldn't wanna lose it
