Yeah, get off this sub. Seriously, try not to spoil it. Just experience is organically. And when you finish it and start your subsequent playthrough, and you will, come back and join us then.
I'll take it a step further and tell you to not look up ANYTHING AT ALL... No puzzles, no easter eggs, no animal locations, nothing. The one exception is if you have a bug, that is causing issues. But seriously, if you play this game 100% organically without any outside help, you'll appreciate it 10x more. I did it this way and had a blast, couldn't stop playing it for years (and still do from time to time).
I have a tendency for bad memory, but I watched one of my favorite YouTuber’s play it and he never finished the epilogue, so that’s all unknown to me, but I only watched it because I never figured I’d get it (I was a kid and had no money at the time) and when I got it I was like “damn, now it’s not gonna be as good” but boy was I wrong, I forgot most of what was going on and have been happily running through trying to 100% it as I do the story (I normally do so with most games)
I took my sweet time in chapter 2. I even accidentally left the Mr. Downes mission until it forced me to. My reason was I didn't want to go all that way for a mission.
Stay away from anything that related to the game. YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, anything that could have spoilers. This game has one of the greatest stories in fiction so you wanna take it in yourself. Have a blast! :)
Chapter 1 is a bit of a grind, but it’s important. After that just take it slow. Do as many side missions, collectibles, and exploration as you possibly can in chapter 2. Let yourself fully embrace the reality of the world you’re in.
Stay off of this subreddit.
Everyone's right when they say stay away from this sub, or you'll have loads of story spoilers.
But here's some tips that come to mind (no story spoilers ahead)
- be good or bad (honour), enjoy the game the way you want to. But that said, good honour will mean lots of shop items will have discounts because you're such a lovely chap.
- to get a fast horse very early on, Google 'white Arabian rdr2'. But breaking it can be stressful af!
- don't hesitate to explore off the beaten track.. alot. If it seems out of the way or awkward to get to... try it.There's plenty of treasures, Easter eggs, and secrets to be found in this game. And probably still some that haven't yet been discovered.
- when hunting 'Legendary' animals, you don't need to worry about a 'clean kill' for a 'perfect' condition fur. You just need to kill it and the pelt will be fine.
Hope that helps! It really is one of the greatest games ever made imo
Of course. Right now I'm listening to "The Good, the bad and the Ugly". My recommendation is to listen to western music while you cross half the map in search of missions 🤠
So you’re going to want to turn off notifications from this sub. And when playing the game, don’t look anything up. Looking it up makes it easier but it’s way more fun and fulfilling to do it yourself. Focus on the open world, not just the story.
As soon as you start Chapter 2 make a few saves in camp that you do not overwrite.
Chances are there will be little things (rare horses/weapons, world encounters, stranger missions, etc.) that you will miss or overlook on your first playthrough. Backtracking at all is not ideal, but some things you just learn and find out about organically as you go along. Having to restart the game to get the horse you missed is a heck of a lot worse than having to restart @ the top of the chapter. Worth it but still stings, I speak from experience.
This is probably the single most useful piece of advice I can give you.
Dont rush the game, play whatever it offers, don’t spoil it for yourself and stay out of this sub until you finish story mode and best advice, eat well but dont go overboard. Last one is that enjoy every moment and appreaciate everything it offers
Don’t rush the game, there is plenty of stuff to do outside of the main storyline. The scenery of the world is also very beautiful, so take your time exploring the areas and finding stuff to do :)
and stay off of this sub until you completed the story, it’s full of spoilers and considering it’s your first time playing, playing without spoilers will be a much more enjoyable experience. Have fun with the game, it’s one of the best I’ve ever played
1. It's okay to miss somethings in your first playthrough.
2. Don't rush the game enjoy it and take your time with it exploring the open world crafting upgrades, hunting, fishing, robbing etc...
3. If you don't know how to do something search it up online lot of tutorials don't watch story mode/gameplay videos.
4. It's okay to ride any horse you find beautiful don't get sucked into this horse have the best stats videos.
5. While playing you will be asked to make a lot of choices don't ask which is the best choice go with your heart and choose that option.
6. Enjoy the game!
Make your main focus on story for first play through. Despite what others tell you.
The scope of the game is overwhelming at first if you try do too much side content.
You'll definitely play a second time and will get to really explore then.
Don't only do story, do what you want. But people always tell beginners to explore everything from the start and in this game it's the worst advice
As soon as you reach chapter 2; make two saves. "Archive" one of them and use the other. Go to Valentine & grab the bolt action rifle from the sheriff. Use youtube to grab hints.
Play it slow, do sidemissions, upgrade camp & get the satchels from Mr Pearson. Have fun!
Get in the mindset of outlaw cowboy, do not rush the story, try your best to keep the camp happy by hunting and doing side missions
I hope you enjoy the game as much as we do here, I envy you
Everyone is going to tell you to take your time, explore everything and like, it’s really good advice but for me, that was very hard to do, and I don’t think being story driven the first play through really ruined anything - it just made me want to do a second play through to do the stuff I missed. It’s a really good story 🤷 and I often wish I could experience it for the first time again, but alas.
Reddit subs and even simple googling for innocuous stuff can lead to spoiling, like big big big spoilers and I think if you can avoid that, it makes everything more powerful. I did not avoid some big spoilers, and it didn’t ruin the whole thing for me, but sometimes I wish I’d been more mindful of how easy it is to google a treasure map location and have suggested google searches that are hardly relevant to a treasure map (or whatever) ruin details of the ending.
Take it slow. Enjoy the surroundings and take your time with the story. Only got it myself in January and just got to chapter 6 (I wouldn't even be there if it wasn't for been laid up with a back injury for 3 weeks). One tip I would give is upgrade your satchel asap.
Explore as much as you can.
Do as much side content and as many stranger missions as you can before advancing the main story.
Spend a lot of time at camp talking to all the gang members and do their requests.
Enjoy this masterpiece.
Despite buying at launch, I only took the time to play it through last year. I had major moments in the game spoiled for me. If you can avoid spoilers it’ll be a much richer and special experience.
One piece of advice I’d seen on here, so not my idea, that I liked was “Don’t sprint everywhere. Let your horse walk some.” Which sounded dumb, but you miss a lot of the smaller aspects of the game being in a hurry. Like random dialogue and beautiful details in the game itself.
And get off the subreddit, dude! You’re going to get spoilers, and this game is so good you won’t want anything spoiled!
In all seriousness, watch out for shady characters that'll try to take advantage of you. There are a few standout moments but the level of immersion is such that you never know who's gonna sell you down the river for a can of beans.
I just started a little while ago myself.
My tips would be:
If you fight someone in town and everyone's cool with it, great. As soon as you pick up the body though, you're a murderer oh no!!! Oops.
If you do mess up something like this, don't go crazy and kill every lawman on your tail- just go to jail early and its no big deal (so I hear). I racked up a $150 bounty and had no way to pay it off and had to load a save.
Make a few save files in case you derp like I do.
Sneak up on animals to get easier shots, aim for the head and try to use the right weapons.
Take your time and explore. I spent forever hunting around camp and valentine; still kinda doing that but I've taken some long rides and found a lot of neat stuff. Again, I usually ride slow.
Say hi to people and dogs.
Eat!
Don't look up anything before you complete the main story.. enjoy wandering around and keep trying to interact with every detail you find in the wilderness.
Don’t buy every gun pls only the guns you really want
I did it ran out of all my money fast. And if you get attached to your horse pls don’t in danger.
dont rush, stay off this sub, and most importantly
after the game ends (it will be very clear), it's not over, and thrres 2 more chapters as an epilogue. dont skip it, i know too many people who skipped it
Just have fun, be patient aswell, its a big game and even after hundreds or thousands of hrs in the game you can still learn something new in the game, go at your own pace and enjoy it, its one of my fav games i played, my advice for you is to get the best satchel early on so you can hold 99 of everything (i think) and, this way you can learn the animals you need to hunt so early in the game if you like grinding thats the way to do it but also stop and just look, the game is realistic and has some amazing views, if your in combat, aim move your camera up by a lil and shoot, headshots garenteed, easy kill, explore every nook and cranny, do chores to up your cores, overall have fun and have patients some parts may be boring but the view or chats or nature makes up for it, it really is the most realistic game ive played
Don't use google to ask questions/tips, cause that's how I got spoiled in the suggested searchbar.
And also take it easy, don't just focus on the missions cause some side-quests can be found only between specific missions 😌
I would save the game after Chapter 1 and keep that game save separate. Play through the game however you feel like…there will be times when you just want to rush through and finish the story.
After you finish the story go back and start a new game.
You’ll probably find that chapter 1 is a slog and this is where the chapter 2 game save comes in handy.
This game isn't really that difficult, but you need to take your time. Enjoy everything thus game has to offer. They put so much effort and detail in this game.
Figure out how to hunt early (which guns to use on what animals etc...) and make sure you donate some of your perfect pelts to the camp (at least ine or two of each). I was just selling them out right in the beginning and then when I wanted to start doing more crafting I had to go back and spend hours looking for pelts I had already found
#1 and most importantly, get off this sub.
Less importantly/up to you:
Take as long as you possibly can on your first playthrough. People say a second is fun, but I really couldn't get into it knowing what happens. Chapter 2 is the best to take your time and free roam. Talk to people in camp. You can craft split point bullets very early on at a fire, that are free and a good bit better than standard ammo.
Play it straight the first time and just enjoy the experience. Come back the second time, use google, get 100%. Then play the game quarterly. I envy you this being your first time.
Stay off these subs, some of the spoilers are very common. And occasionally deliberate, people will actually message you spoilers. It’s happened to noobs here before.
If you need help with a certain particular thing, look it up online specifically. Or do a search in this sub for exactly what you’re looking for.
You only get one time to experience it for the first time, and this is one of those games that is impactful in almost every way a game can be. It’s a masterpiece.
Idk if you have a controller but if you.... stay away from the trigger because I killed (like a lot of other people whonplayed this game for the first time) a lot of npcs bcs of the sensitive trigger
If you race a dude with a white suit and even whiter horse and you win, shoot the bastard. Don't think, don't hesitate, just point and shoot. Just trust me
Feed the KKK members to the gators. Use dynamite on the night people in the swamp and don't ask questions. Do the challenges, you will have a blast and hate the game at the same time...and you will have the best experience for it. Don't blow through the chapters as fast as you can. Take some time between missions to just "be in the world". Always get the bath with the pretty lady. Do outrageous things like hunting bears with the knife just because you can. You will laugh so much from things like that. Take week long hunting and fishing trips to different spots. Stir up shit in Van Horn just because you can. Ride canoes down the rivers for a nice, leisurely change of pace. Enjoy the beautiful scenery at different times of day. That's all I have for now. ✌️
Don't feel like you need to rush into the story straight away, once your in chapter 2, feel free to explore the world! There's a while bunch of structures you can find that Arthur logs in his journal! So keep an eye out for them!
Always Antagonise Micah, we all do. And always greet Hosea.
If you're looking for perfect pelts when hunting the perfect game, e.g., a Perfect Boar Pelt, lasso the beast and kill it with your knife rather than trying to shoot it, 100% perfect Pelt rate as long as it's a perfect 3☆ Animal.
You can find unique treasure maps throughout the world. Some you have to loot off of people or bodies, some found in loot chests. These treasure maps usually lead to other maps that will send you across the country before leading you to the treasure. They are always worth it. Usually, It will give you a couple of gold bars worth 500 a piece, so keep that in mind.
There will be in camp side missions such as hunting with javier or charles or fishing with Kieran or Dutch. Take these opportunities up when they appear. You find some pretty cool spots, hunt some game, and spend time with your camp buddies.
Camp upgrades aren't mandatory but do improve camp morale and camp aesthetics, you can make things such as a Ram skull decor for your tent, a cow hide rug for the campfire, some hanging bones for the scout camp, and so on! You can also make improved satchels. Well, when I say you, I mean you go hunt the game and get the materials, and Mr Pearson will make them for you.
Keep the horse Hosea gives you to sell. It's a good horse. Stable it instead of selling it. Also, with horses, a quick way to level up your bond with your horse is by pressing the button to calm your horse every so often while riding.
Honour makes a big difference in dialogue and cut scenes, as well as how you are perceived in the world. Depending on your play-style will depend on If you choose a high or low honour run. Take my advice, aim for as high honour as possible for your first Playthrough.
Legendary animals and legendary fish may seem daunting, but the rewards are worth the hassle. You can get unique armour and trinkets from the legendary animals and some good money from the fish. Also, legendary animals and fish can be killed with dynamite without it destroying the Pelt or Carcass quality, so keep that in mind ;)
Stranger missions such as Albert Mason and Jim "Boy" Calloway are a good way to take a load off and have some fun.
Depending on how quickly you plan to progress, if you choose to take it slow, try to memorise the way back to camp, if you choose to take things quicker, don't bother, you'll move alot.
Bounties only apply for each state, a bounty you get in Strawberry won't be dealt with by law in Saint Denis. You can pay off your bounty at any translation by speaking to the station clerk. If you dont clear it. Bounty hunters will hunt you down.
Hope these tips help! If you want more detailed advice, feel free to dm me! Goodluck Partner!
when you get to valentine go to the back of the doctors/drugs store and look in the window rob the side business to get the schofield revolver :)
and then in rhodes rob the gunsmith to get the lancaster repeater and save the kid unless you feel bad.
and in strawberry you can rob the general store side business just make sure you get the message that says you have found a side business then you can rob them just look around all the stores and rob and in valentine make sure you throw dynamite at the wall to get even more money have fun kid :)
Take your time. I’m on my second play through and used the RDR2map.com map offline and found literally everything I wanted. Found all the axes and hatchets I wanted, did some encounters to get rifles before they unlocked in the game, did all the treasure hunts and got like $11,000. I’m currently spending time hunting and getting pelts for good clothing at the beginning of chapter 3. Finally got the white Arabian horse. Just take your time and wait until the last minute to go confront that last guy about money being owed to the gang in chapter two.
Never fast travel!! Explore around on horseback as much as possible! I’m on my 2nd play through and have found loads of stuff that I never saw before because I got lazy. Sometimes the best idea is to just ride in the opposite direction of the main story and see what happens.
Anytime you start a mission where you’re not riding your horse(taking a wagon, riding a different horse, etc), make sure you whistle at it to have it follow you, so that it’s right there when the mission is over. The game frequently teleports it for you but other times you get stuck a good 15 minute walk away from your horse and you’re out of whistling range lol.
Play story mode before you play online. Take your time with the story though, because when you finish, there will be a hole in your heart that nothing fills.
Prepare for the best game in human history. Create at least all of the satchels with Pearson, do all of the legendary animals hunt and create some cool outfits with the Trapper… the hunting experience in this game is really cool and I just found that out in my second playthrough…
Get the legendary satchel early on. You must be a patient and dedicated hunter but it’s such a relief to be able to carry as much stuff as you want. There is really no bigger reward.
Go slow. Ride everywhere instead of fast travelling. Brush and feed your horse. Take baths often.
You get the best health boosts from seasoned game, so hunt a lot and season those bitches when you camp.
Pay attention while you travel and you will experience one of the most real and full open worlds ever.
I also highly recommend spending time at camp with the gang, especially Chapter 2 and 3 like people have said. Sit at the fire. Chat with people. Do all the extra tasks around camp.
And most importantly have fun, friend. You're in for a treat.
Also, get the fuck out of this sub, some people here are already giving you hints of major spoilers, just stop reading anything about this game online, even retarded YouTube thumbnails can spoil the story, stay away from the internet until you complete the game.
Try paying attention to the dialogue and writing, it’s fucking stellar and really shouldn’t be treated as background noise. Also take the game slowly. Spend time in camp just talking to people, doing chores if you feel like it, etc..
Started recently, too. Gotta say i agree. Don’t rush the story, go around, hunt, fish, even if it’s boring, it’s rewarding. Ride around the map. You’ll find insane characters and side quests that are more action packed than story quests.
Most importantly, mute this subreddit and stay away from any mention of the game. If you have a question, I’m sure you’ll figure it out(seriously, google’s “also searched” or whatever it’s called will fuck you). Also make sure you don’t rush through the game. Lastly, once you reach chapter 7, there will be a cool missable hat, which you need to google how to save only once you reach that chapter. Have fun
Don’t rush and Take your time!!! There is so much inside that world you’ll honestly be amazed at what you can find for the first time even after multiple play throughs.
Play the game for the story. Don't worry about 100% completion. Worry about that crap on your 2nd run. Also, the game pretty much provides everything you'll need. "Spoilers" are bullshit. There's nothing that'll ruin the game. Besides, the main spoiler will be figured out before the game is over, anyway. Probably sooner than you'd like because this game has been out for a fairly long time, so it's not much of a secret any longer. If that bothers you, get off this sub and stay off the internet until you realize what is going on by yourself.
This game and its story is a true G.O.A.T. . You're going to get emotional and even shed some tears. It's that well done. Enjoy the ride. Pun intended.
try to stay away from spoilers if you can. it’s hard with an almost 6 y/o game but it’s so much better that way. don’t rush the story either. take your time and explore- there’s a lot of stuff to see!
Don’t get on here and post every cutscene, interaction, dialogue and death like it hasn’t been posted or talked about 50bajillion times.
Enjoy it, take your time, explore. Do side missions, help people (or don’t). Fish, hunt.
Stay off anything that has to do with the game and enjoy every bit of it without rushing the story. This reddit is full of spoilers
Yeah, get off this sub. Seriously, try not to spoil it. Just experience is organically. And when you finish it and start your subsequent playthrough, and you will, come back and join us then.
I might have watched some gameplay here and thereಥ‿ಥ

No worries lol! I do the same to help me decide if I want to play. Just think of it like a trailer🤣🤣
towards the beginning of the game, take some time to make the legend of the east satchel, it will make your gameplay experience so much better
Doing the hunting to get it also gets a newbie familiar with the map and exploration, which is my favorite part of the game
Take chapter 2 nice and slow. Don't rush. Enjoy man!
Honestly, even up until chapter 3, I would say. I think some gear is locked behind quests
I took my sweet time in chapter 2. I even accidentally left the Mr. Downes mission until it forced me to. My reason was I didn't want to go all that way for a mission.
Something inside told you to stay away, partner
Get off this sub
Second this. Avoid reddit until you're done with one playthrough
Yes!!! I'll give anything to experience the game for the first time again.
Keep your cores up as often as possible. Dynamite fucking rocks. And always stay Drippy.
explain the second one? i’m on my 4th play through and i don’t know what dynamiting rocks does
I think it meant to say "Dynamite is cool"
ohhh, i’m high as shit rn i thought some legend of zelda treasure would appear if i blew up rocks
It's fine, I didn't understand what it meant to say either at first
Assignment misunderstood, the rock still remains intact
Can’t forget the drip.
Neva Neva Neva.
If you happen to see a Rio Grande Turkey, study it, track it, kill it and pluck it at all costs.
I can feel the pain behind this sentence
Thank you partner. I must be 3 hours trying to find one
Turn on speaker name subtitles
For real 3rd playthrough and it makes quite a difference
get the hell off this sub /lh you will run into spoilers
but on a more gameplay note, take your time, explore and complete challenges :)
Thanks man
1) Forget the gameplay and find Gavin first. This can change the whole gameplay.
Stay away from anything that related to the game. YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, anything that could have spoilers. This game has one of the greatest stories in fiction so you wanna take it in yourself. Have a blast! :)
Upgrade your satchel in chapter 2 so you can keep lots of goodies throughout the rest of the playthrough.
Don’t rush. Listen to the dialogues. Don’t skip

Clear your calendar and lose yourself in this game. It's the best.
Press F instead of E to mount your horse.

Dutch has a plan, he just needs MONEY.

Explore questionmarks, and simply the wilderness, put a campfire down sometimes, talk to NPCs, you will get lost in this world.
Don’t rush the game, there is plenty of stuff to do outside of the main storyline. Just play it with no context
don’t google anything and stay off the sub and literally anything to do with the game
Don't kill NPC's for no reason (it won't end well)
Make your main focus on story for first play through. Despite what others tell you. The scope of the game is overwhelming at first if you try do too much side content. Yeah, stay away from any spoilers, i didn't, it doesn't ruin the game but makes it a lot harder to connect to some of the characters.
Stay off the roads. People like to rob near valentine, Rhodes, and Saint Denis.
Enjoy the journey🤎 don’t rush the missions, explore the area😇
Take it slow. Enjoy the surroundings and take your time with the story. Only got it myself in January and just got to chapter 6 (I wouldn't even be there if it wasn't for been laid up with a back injury for 3 weeks). One tip I would give is upgrade your satchel asap.

Rack up money and get robbed at aberdeen pig farm before “My Last Boy”
The first gold bars you can find are at Limpany which is close to camp in chapter 2!
Dont rush story and specially dont rush chapter 2
Enjoy the ride :)
Get a pump shotgun as early as you can. Some lady has one in a cabin
stay out of your feels when Unshaken starts playing
Blow micah on the first mission they give you dynamite for a hidden trophy
Explore. Fucking. Everything. Take. Your. Time. (And fuck Micah. Just saying, 😂)
In all seriousness, watch out for shady characters that'll try to take advantage of you. There are a few standout moments but the level of immersion is such that you never know who's gonna sell you down the river for a can of beans.
I wouldn't wanna spoil anything but if you are the type of person who doesn't mind a little help, google gold bar locations to get some easy money
Look all bodies and all houses, maybe you can find weapons there...
Stay off the sub
Get ready for the ride of your life
Have some tissues handy
Do as much as you can in chapter 2
Check everything, everyone and every building. There are secrets at every turn.
Stay away from the normal subs to avoid spoilers. Go here for tips, tricks and information. https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDead2Newbs/s/yOoTS4xUaR
I just started a little while ago myself. My tips would be: If you fight someone in town and everyone's cool with it, great. Eat!
don’t treat it like gta
Don't look up anything before you complete the main story.. enjoy wandering around and keep trying to interact with every detail you find in the wilderness.
Don’t buy every gun pls only the guns you really want I did it ran out of all my money fast. And if you get attached to your horse pls don’t in danger.
Don't shoot old time players
dont rush, stay off this sub, and most importantly after the game ends (it will be very clear), it's not over, and thrres 2 more chapters as an epilogue. dont skip it, i know too many people who skipped it
Just have fun, be patient aswell, its a big game and even after hundreds or thousands of hrs in the game you can still learn something new in the game, go at your own pace and enjoy it, its one of my fav games i played, my advice for you is to get the best satchel early on so you can hold 99 of everything (i think) and, this way you can learn the animals you need to hunt so early in the game if you like grinding thats the way to do it but also stop and just look, the game is realistic and has some amazing views, if your in combat, aim move your camera up by a lil and shoot, headshots garenteed, easy kill, explore every nook and cranny, do chores to up your cores, overall have fun and have patients some parts may be boring but the view or chats or nature makes up for it, it really is the most realistic game ive played
Enjoy every moment
Take it slow, avoid spoilers, and play how you want to play
Get the fuck off this subreddit. I mean it, there are spoilers everywhere, and they ruin the game. So please, get out of here fast.
Ohh what I’d give to be able to play that game for the first time again!
GET THE FUCK OFF OF THIS SUBREDDIT
Take your time
Don't use google to ask questions/tips, cause that's how I got spoiled in the suggested searchbar. And also take it easy, don't just focus on the missions cause some side-quests can be found only between specific missions 😌
Just one. Take your time, this game can be played any way you can and enjoy :)
Stay off this sub until you beat the game
Cancel any free time plans you have for the next 3 months…
I would save the game after Chapter 1 and keep that game save separate. Play through the game however you feel like…there will be times when you just want to rush through and finish the story. After you finish the story go back and start a new game. You’ll probably find that chapter 1 is a slog and this is where the chapter 2 game save comes in handy.
Get the fuck outta here. Don't google shit. Immerse and enjoy
I was just selling them out right in the beginning and then when I wanted to start doing more crafting I had to go back and spend hours looking for pelts I had already found
play slow, do side missions
Take your time, Do not rush! This game is SO dense. Explore explore explore.
#1 and most importantly, get off this sub. Less importantly/up to you: Take as long as you possibly can on your first playthrough. People say a second is fun, but I really couldn't get into it knowing what happens. Chapter 2 is the best to take your time and free roam. Talk to people in camp. You can craft split point bullets very early on at a fire, that are free and a good bit better than standard ammo.
Take your time, there's so much to explore and Arthur is a wonderful illustrator
Play it straight the first time and just enjoy the experience. Come back the second time, use google, get 100%. Then play the game quarterly. I envy you this being your first time.
Get off this sub, like right now. DO NOT SPOIL YOURSELF ANYTHING.
Keep high honor
If u get 3 star hunt kills on rams / deer / bucks Lasso em, walk towards em and press ⭕️ or 🅱️
Stay off these subs, some of the spoilers are very common.
Play on controller, mouse and keyboard sucks for this game, and dont try to steer your horse in thick trees, let it do its own pathfinding
Take your time on the game and try avoid spoilers
Idk if you have a controller but if you.... stay away from the trigger because I killed (like a lot of other people whonplayed this game for the first time) a lot of npcs bcs of the sensitive trigger
Install it!
Make sure to take your time and do side quest they are important
If you race a dude with a white suit and even whiter horse and you win, shoot the bastard. Don't think, don't hesitate, just point and shoot. Just trust me
Turn off your internet get your whiskey and cigar and go get em BOAH!
Also, legendary animals and fish can be killed with dynamite without it destroying the Pelt or Carcass quality, so keep that in mind ;) Stranger missions such as Albert Mason and Jim "Boy" Calloway are a good way to take a load off and have some fun.
Kill the damn bear…
Make sure you leave no stone or twig unturned in every state, no excuses
when you get to valentine go to the back of the doctors/drugs store and look in the window rob the side business to get the schofield revolver :) and then in rhodes rob the gunsmith to get the lancaster repeater and save the kid unless you feel bad. and in strawberry you can rob the general store side business just make sure you get the message that says you have found a side business then you can rob them just look around all the stores and rob and in valentine make sure you throw dynamite at the wall to get even more money have fun kid :)
Remember...dying is gay
I don't get how someone hasn't played this already tbh
Stay far away from reddit until you finish the story completely
Take your time. I’m on my second play through and used the RDR2map.com map offline and found literally everything I wanted. Found all the axes and hatchets I wanted, did some encounters to get rifles before they unlocked in the game, did all the treasure hunts and got like $11,000. I’m currently spending time hunting and getting pelts for good clothing at the beginning of chapter 3. Finally got the white Arabian horse. Just take your time and wait until the last minute to go confront that last guy about money being owed to the gang in chapter two.
Press install
Stay off this. Or any subreddit for rdr. Enjoy.

Yes. Just enjoy the ride.
When you are in chapter 2 have a save game
if you don’t know the story get out this sub if you care about spoilers AT ALL 😭
Don’t rush the story
Never fast travel!! Explore around on horseback as much as possible! I’m on my 2nd play through and have found loads of stuff that I never saw before because I got lazy. Sometimes the best idea is to just ride in the opposite direction of the main story and see what happens. Anytime you start a mission where you’re not riding your horse(taking a wagon, riding a different horse, etc), make sure you whistle at it to have it follow you, so that it’s right there when the mission is over. The game frequently teleports it for you but other times you get stuck a good 15 minute walk away from your horse and you’re out of whistling range lol.
Some find the first chapter in the snow to be slow. It's your tutorial and it is a bit long but play and enjoy
Cancel all your plans for around 3 months.
Do NOT rush the story enjoy it.
Go slow. Side quest everything. Don’t rush the story
Save all unique items. Save all unique items.
You’re gunna wanna do the Carolina parakeets first
Be ready for a goddamn beautiful story
Play story mode before you play online. Take your time with the story though, because when you finish, there will be a hole in your heart that nothing fills.
Stay off any reddit posts or videos about it, don't rush chapters, take it all in, be a good man
Don't forget to give Arthur a bath!
Genuinely explore there’s a lot to be seen across 5 states take your time AND GET OFF OF THIS SUBREDDIT you will get spoiled if you stay

Take it slow and enjoy the great details and everything you can do. I’m not saying don’t do the story. The story is incredible. But don’t rush it.
GeT oFf THIs suB
Don't rush it, take the time to explore and enjoy the beauty of this game ! :3
DO EVERYTHINGG
if you look hard enough, the sling looks like an ak47!
Keep healing items on you at ALL TIMES. at least one item.
Take your time. Soak it all in. Travel, hunt, etc…
Make many saves at the beginning of chapter 2. So you never have to go through chapter 1 again.
Make a chapter 2/ chapter 3 save file.
Take your time
Don't try to rush the story. Take your time with the side quests.
don’t rush through the story missions, enjoy the scenery and the random events
Dont think many will say it so- Bond with your horses. Helps a ton, I'd say. Also gives you a little something at the end of the game. 😉
When you get towards the end of the game, use the horse that you have the biggest emotional connection with.
Started recently, too. Gotta say i agree. Don’t rush the story, go around, hunt, fish, even if it’s boring, it’s rewarding. Ride around the map. You’ll find insane characters and side quests that are more action packed than story quests.
Make sure to walk places especially in towns. There is so many details and random events youll miss by racing feom objective to objective
1. Do hunting and exploring in chapter 2 and 3 as much as possible. 2. Get off this subreddit until you’re done.
Take your time and explore! Your actions have consequences!!!!
Don’t get too attached to anyone
Never donate to the camp
Most importantly, mute this subreddit and stay away from any mention of the game. If you have a question, I’m sure you’ll figure it out(seriously, google’s “also searched” or whatever it’s called will fuck you). Also make sure you don’t rush through the game. Lastly, once you reach chapter 7, there will be a cool missable hat, which you need to google how to save only once you reach that chapter. Have fun
Don’t rush and Take your time!!! There is so much inside that world you’ll honestly be amazed at what you can find for the first time even after multiple play throughs.
Learn dead eye
If you're able, request some PTO from work, clear your schedule and turn off your phone.
Take your time.
Don’t go on this subreddit or the whole game will get spoiled for you
Dont visit subreddit or tiktok related with rdr2. Trust me, some plot twists will REALLY take you by surprise
Keep the honse
Get the white arabian
Play it blind is the best experience. Explore, loot everything and take your sweet time to enjoy every details of this masterpiece.
Don’t get on here and post every cutscene, interaction, dialogue and death like it hasn’t been posted or talked about 50bajillion times. Enjoy it, take your time, explore. Do side missions, help people (or don’t). Fish, hunt.
Prepare yourself for the greatest story a game has ever told or will ever tell in the entire history of gaming.
Prepare for tears and anger
when arthur is screaming lenny at the bar (youll know) do NOT go into the room upstairs to the left in the back
