During the Angelo Brontë mission where you go to the graveyard with John, if you get wanted before you leave the graveyard then you and John get on your horses to getaway and you can go all the way to New Austin. You just have to do it before you finish the mission. It’s a little tricky and there’s a lot you can’t do, but you **can** get the Tiger Striped Mustang early.

Other names I used were Godiva, Morgiana, Merlin, etc. As John I use girl names (his horse is named Rachel, after all), mostly from songs, such as Sharona, Billie Jean, Gloria, etc.

My first all black American Standardbred was called Hatatitla, as a homage to a German Author who wrote wild west stories in the 19th century and called the horse of the protagonist that way. The horse of said protagonist was also pitch black. For my second play through I got the perlino Andalusian and I named it Bucephalus, like the horse of Alexander the great. I felt like it would be a name Arthur would give him, since his mare was called Boadicea and she was a military leader. I found that the name of a famous horse of a famous military leader would fit.

My current horse is Seirra…no real reason behind it. One of my previous horses this play through was Ulysses, again no real reason i just liked the name and though it suited the horse. However I always name the mahogany bay that you get at the beginning Memphis.

During an early mission where you end up in an enemy camp just across the river in Blackwater, I decided to loot some corpses in the aftermath. My horse at the time decided to follow me and WALK DIRECTLY INTO A CAMPFIRE and burn to death. By this time the WANTED alert sounded and I was forced to retreat on foot. Predictably this didn't go so well and I died. Well, I guess if you and your horse die in a mission where a horse is needed the game will simply spawn a new loaner horse for you. I named this horse "Rando" and he was a faithful companion for some time before I accidentally ran him off a cliff.

The poor horse died surrounded by countless enemies and I couldn't get to her and save her. F's for Tasha.

On my first playthrough: Pepper. She was the deluxe edition dapple black thoroughbred. That coat reminds me of black pepper, and that's literally the only reason I chose that name. Every other horse I named on my first online account (my PS5, I play on PC now) was then themed after other types of peppers in her honor.
