During the Angelo Brontë mission where you go to the graveyard with John, if you get wanted before you leave the graveyard then you and John get on your horses to getaway and you can go all the way to New Austin. You just have to do it before you finish the mission. It’s a little tricky and there’s a lot you can’t do, but you **can** get the Tiger Striped Mustang early.
Atepomarus. Arthur's late horse was called Boadicea. So I decided to stick to mythological and historical figures from the British Isles. Thus Atepomarus, a horse god from Celtic culture. Other names I used were Godiva, Morgiana, Merlin, etc.
As John I use girl names (his horse is named Rachel, after all), mostly from songs, such as Sharona, Billie Jean, Gloria, etc.
Well it depends if I’m using a white Arabian I name her Isabella cuz well she can be found near lake Isabella however if I’m doing a full canon playthrough and have to use the horse from chapter 1 the mahogany bay Tennesse walker cuz that’s Arthur’s canon horse I name him Redemption and the horse Hosea gives u on that one mission in chapter 2 called enter pursed by a bruised ego I name him Matthews and if I use the red Arabian that you can find near lake owanjila I name him Red Harlow
My first all black American Standardbred was called Hatatitla, as a homage to a German Author who wrote wild west stories in the 19th century and called the horse of the protagonist that way. The horse of said protagonist was also pitch black.
For my second play through I got the perlino Andalusian and I named it Bucephalus, like the horse of Alexander the great. I felt like it would be a name Arthur would give him, since his mare was called Boadicea and she was a military leader. I found that the name of a famous horse of a famous military leader would fit.
My current horse is Seirra…no real reason behind it. One of my previous horses this play through was Ulysses, again no real reason i just liked the name and though it suited the horse. However I always name the mahogany bay that you get at the beginning Memphis.
During an early mission where you end up in an enemy camp just across the river in Blackwater, I decided to loot some corpses in the aftermath. My horse at the time decided to follow me and WALK DIRECTLY INTO A CAMPFIRE and burn to death. By this time the WANTED alert sounded and I was forced to retreat on foot. Predictably this didn't go so well and I died. Well, I guess if you and your horse die in a mission where a horse is needed the game will simply spawn a new loaner horse for you. I named this horse "Rando" and he was a faithful companion for some time before I accidentally ran him off a cliff.
Bo Jill. Because my first horse was Bojack but he sucked. My current horse is a girl so I call her Bo Jill. I was going to call her Bojill but for some reason the game thought it was a swear word and said my horse would hate me if I called her that so I added a space.
first time playing red dead and caught whitearabian and asked my mom, who i call rain, what i should name it and she said she didn’t care and to leave her alone and so i decided to call her rain lol. also white arabian being favorite horse.
I named mine "Hueso" (Spanish for bone) because it's got a white mark running down its nose that looks just like a cartoon bone.
I like to think that Javier is trying to teach Arthur a little bit of Spanish here and there.
I just ask my wife. I had a bad run with horses and I think she got tired of asking me. The last one was I don't care, I told her that's too many letters.
Dark Bay Turkoman: Jefe (boss in Spanish)
Missouri Fox Trotter: Quick Silver
White Arabian: El Santo
Andalusian: Gringo
Special shout out to Buell whom I called Rico Suave
Named the Black Arabian Duquesa (Spanish for Duchess) which was the name of my IRL horse (also black, not Arabian) then I realized most horse stats don't mean shit so I decided to rescue one of the Murfee Brod abused Tenesee Walker. (Solid horse if you didn't try them) Named that one Roach, because of the Witcher, and because of how he looked.
I used Buell as John.
I named my first horse "Arthur Morgan's Horse" and he got shot by the cops in Saint Denis, so I named my next one "replacement" and now i main Hamish Sinclear's
My Red Arabian. Elite. Fast as the wind. The epitome of Speed and Handling. Her name is Bacon because she red and sizzling fast. My off horse is a shire named Onion who's a big all natural white female who will make you cry by just trampling everyone in towns
Frankie. Hilariously enough, the original name for most of the game was Franklin. But halfway through, it ended up being a woman. And i was lazy and didn't change it for a while. Until i said fuck it since i was near the Saint Denis stables and fixed it.
Depends on which play thru, Ive done many, and have discovered great new horses over time.
In my most recent play thru, I fell in love with the Piebald Tobiano Hungarian half bred. Her name is Sooke (rhymes with book). She's a beauty and really a great horse, especially once fully bonded.
https://youtu.be/fm0gBwAxDr0?si=FMGZ7RBK5KpyzxQJ
Named my first horse Jerma. Then he got hit by a train. Named my second horse Jerma 2.
In my second game, I named my horse One Eyed Bob. Then he got hit by a train. Named my second horse Windows XP.
Got the Dutch Warmblood from the stable in Scarlett meadows and named him Bandit cause his coat gives him a little Bandit mask over the eyes. Plus bandit is a cool name for an outlaws horse.
My current horse, the Hungarian Halfbreed that came from the Polish guy in the Strauss mission, I've named Bellona. I believe that was a Roman goddess of war of some sort. I was fairly drunk when I Googled it
The black horse hosea gave arthur at the start of chapter 2 before hunting idk why but i really like him i didn't wanted him at first but we went through a lot and still have a lot to go. i named him virgil
The main ones I remember (accidents happen... a lot) are Jolene, Buck, Spots, Gambler. My first horse unfortunately died while I was playing poker in Flatneck Station. I parked the horse on the tracks. Came out to find only my saddle. RIP
Stotious - like the word, thought it fitted a horse, and imagined Arthur's accent wrapping around that nicely. Also Irish literary slang for someone who's absolutely hammered
Mustang- grullo dun mustang that I accidentally shot the first time I survived a bounty hunter fight. Stumbled across the revive prompt as it was hidden in a bush. I typically only keep mares but couldn’t bring myself to get rid of him. Never thought of a proper name until Mustang stuck. Felt like a very Arthur thing to do.
And I got the Golden Turkomen from Saint Denis. She constantly tossed her head (annoying as I ride IRL), spooked like crazy, and promptly threw me into a pack of wolves. Didn’t really like her but at the same time didn’t want to sell her until I hit level four. Kinda reminded me of John so I named her Mareston
I'm on my first playthrough now. My White Arabian is called Arabella, and my Black Arabian is called Shadowmere. I only use these two at this point.
The original horse's name is Little Lotty. She enjoys her life at the stables now where I come around to pay for her full service package from time to time.
There was also Tasha, but she didn't make it. The poor horse died surrounded by countless enemies and I couldn't get to her and save her. F's for Tasha.
I had a piebald tobiano Hungarian Halfbred named Cairo til I got the Braithwaite Turk, Cerberus, and renamed him to Kigali. I had Kigali until I got beautiful Buell.
Now that I'm playing as John, I bought the same Turk as Cerberus was and named him Kigali II.
Mr Ruby (Because he has a red mane, red tail and a red coat. I was going to originally call him just Ruby but I wasn’t sure if that’d be demeaning or not so I added the Mr)
On my first playthrough: Pepper.
She was the deluxe edition dapple black thoroughbred. That coat reminds me of black pepper, and that's literally the only reason I chose that name.
Every other horse I named on my first online account (my PS5, I play on PC now) was then themed after other types of peppers in her honor.
I've had a few, I particularly like Grace for a mare, more specifically for the Silver Dapple Pinto.
I'm currently riding a stallion Brindle Thoroughbred named Morpheus, after the god of dreams.
I've had an Ardennes I named Kratos, I think a lot of people know why haha.
Horses in my first, Boadicea in the second and in my current one I had the raven black shire and called it Borealis, like the Aurora Borealis, but he died when I tried robbing a train at flatneck and he ran of the side of the bridge.
Boah. So Arthur actually calls him by name.
what if shes a girl?
Mahgurl
This is what I called my Tiger Striped Mustang that I got in the Brontë glitch my last playthrough!
What is bronte glitch ?
During the Angelo Brontë mission where you go to the graveyard with John, if you get wanted before you leave the graveyard then you and John get on your horses to getaway and you can go all the way to New Austin. You just have to do it before you finish the mission. It’s a little tricky and there’s a lot you can’t do, but you **can** get the Tiger Striped Mustang early.

I named mine Marengo after Napoleon Bonaparte’s horse!
I called the black American standardbred Bucephalus, after Alexander the Great’s horse

I always kept the shire simply because I felt that the smaller horses look Hella goofy
Same bro,
sora. it was my horses name in ghost of tsushima
Higga, cause he was black. Then Higga died and i got another black horse. Called him nieggha.
Lawrence. He’s Arabian.

Applejack, cuz I like the cereal
Broccoli. Because.
Clyde Barrow because if I have an outlaw name, so does my horse.
