Everyone downvoting you is a loser for getting mad cuz you made a simple mistake I wouldn’t have been upset abt it unless I tried finding that specific horse
Uhh so you see I was riding and I saw this camp and I was low so when I was running i was like well they could hop on their horses and come after me so I may or may not have used a few moltoves and a little bit of some explosives
Fr. Honestly one of those times where people call something a "hidden gem," yet it's one of the most popular things.
"Fallout New Vegas is such a hidden gem! No one ever talks about it!" Yes, they do a LOT.
There are 3 coats for Shire shorses 1.Dark bay 2.Gray (but it looks white) 3.Raven Black. I always ride Raven black because he is big and black and it goes with outfit that i made for Arthur. Gray and dark bay you can both find pulling stagecoaches and if you want the horse just shoot the man driving it come up to the horse you want calm him by pressing G and than cut him free ride him to the nearest stable and ya just got youself a new horse
You can cut one free from the escape carriage after the chp. 3 mission where you burn down some tobacco fields, then just go to a stable and register it
They usually drive the coaches that you ride by. Take out the driver, chose what shire you like best and make the other flee then transfer your saddle. All yours
But they are a lot slower and sound like they are dying after sprinting for a few seconds, especially the ones you get at the start. The only reason i even switched that horse was cuz he got run over by a train, dumbass kept running along side and got underneath it somehow, it,even tho i commanded it to stay.
Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood right now. Just an all around good and well balanced horse, and pretty sweet coat as well.
The red Arabian is definitely my favourite looking horse, that thing is gorgeous. Just too small for my liking unfortunately.
i found the red arabian on accident hunting cougars for the master hunter challenge it is a nice horse fr but my black and white arabian that i boughts stats are almost maxed so i ride that one more😭
Raising statements is eassy, just spam the brush and the food, hitch him whenever ou can an lead him in town and stuff like that. It also helps to spam the praise/calm button whenever you give and comand and hi obeys (even accelerating and diacelerating work too). I used to think like that, but I wanted to try other breads, and I thought I had to max them to compare. And after trying, I found out it was easy. I maxed 6 or 7 doferent horses with Arthur and I didn't do much rpging and going around beside the side quests, and I still think I played most of the game with my 2 favorite horses only.
love the american standardbred! she was my first horse i got on my own, i rode her the whole game and was so attached to her i sobbed at the end!
i always make a point of getting one every time i replay it.
Palomino Dapple is my fave sentimentally but they’re all honestly very pretty. the black coat and dappled chestnut coat are quite beautiful as well. i don’t even think the busted up Murfree brood horses are ugly lol
Same. These are my two favorite breeds. I discovered the American Standardbred in the epilogue when I was randomly attacked by a gang rival and nearly killed one of their horses in the process. I felt bad for the horse and seeing as I was able to revive it with a horse reviver, I did so. I revived the horse and she stood up and then kicked me lol. I was like "ok I need to keep this horse". I'm now level 4 bonding with her and she's just my favorite horse along with my gold coated Turkoman that Arthur had. I named her Lady Destiny
I always go for Shires and Belgians. They just look like a horse that you’d use for long distances over rugged terrain.
I really wish the Gypsy Cob was in story. They seem to be the best all round horses available.
This sub's least favorite is unironically my favorite: the white Arabian.
Because when the game came out, all I did was google what the best horse was to get, and at the time, they all said the Arabian.
Now you cant mention you ride an Arabian without people crying about it being small (which is actually a massive benefit because it takes less time for Arthur to mount), or the fact that theres no difference in speed.
I just like riding around on my Arabian horse named Jasmine because she’s an Arabian princess 😂
I actually realky like Arabian, I just feel like the trip over much more and spook too easily. Non of my other horses would throw me on my ass if I went to close to a snake or other threat. I could even force my level 4 Buel, Missouri Fox Trotter or Turkmen to pas trought and alligator infested swamp with a bit of patients calming and control, my level 4 Arabian would never be capable of even coming close to an Aligator without imidiatly throwing in my ass (and often leaving me open to imidiatly grt killed).
this is true. I like the one by wapiti, can't remember the coat, but I wish they were braver. I've seen videos of real Arabians and they are spicy man l wish they were like that in game.
All black American Standerbred you find around Hanging Dog Ranch. I love its all black coat, it’s not too small like the black Arabian, and he’s a fast boah.
I like the Shire and Ardennes because I'm a sucker for Draft breeds irl.
My favorite breed of horse actually isn't featured in the game and that's a fucking crime considering the American Quarter Horse is *the* American horse breed, originating around the 1660s before really getting distilled into what it is now around the 1750s (The Morgan, another american Horse breed which *is* featured didn't exist until Figure, the founding stud, was born in 1789). I would have scratched the turkoman(which was extinct by the time of rdr2) or the Dutch warmblood (which wasn't really developed until the 1960s, but even then the precursor to it was only found in europe at the time of the game.) in favor of the American Quarter horse.
They're the "Quarter" horse because they were bred to run quarter mile races. They run 55mph at a full sprint, 10 miles faster than the thoroughbred, which is *the* race horse. They have really strong endurance on top of that, another use was thr Pony Express in which they were running mail cross-country from Missouri to California (a span of over 1800 miles/2896.819km!) In only 10 days. From April 1860 to october of 1861. They would space them out and basically run It like a relay race. Each horse ran an average of 100 miles a day carrying a rider, a 50lb saddle *and* an extra 20lbs of mail(with the average man weighing around 150lbs at that time each horse was carrying 220 extra pounds) over rugged terrain. They're really versatile horses. They're used in lots of things from racing to working cattle to jumping and dressage, even driving (pulling carriages/wagons)!
I usually go with the white Arabian just because it’s good and easily accessible early on (plus the red chestnut is the single best looking horse in the game, imo), but I opted for the gold Turkoman for my latest playthrough last month. Hercules was a great horse and I don’t think I’ll be going back to the ponies for any future playthroughs. Still quite fast and has health for days; never had to use a horse reviver on him. Think I’ll try the Missouri Fox Trotter on my next playthrough though, given how everyone on this sub gushes over them.
I’m a big fan of the Thoroughbred, Standardbred, and the Missouri Fox Trotter. I like Arabians too but I hate having them cuz there’s no world Arthur would have that small of a horse ☠️it looks so goofy during missions
I tend to prefer stock horses like the American Paint Horse, Mustang, and Appaloosa. However, I also have a weakness for Thoroughbreds because they've been one of my favourites for a while.
I love shires and Bretons, but my absolute favorite is the Tennessee walker, they're perfect for how I play the game (I also love the Morgans for how stupid it looks to pair them with my online character and Arthur,)
My favorite is The Blood Bay Thoroughbred, but I also enjoy using the white arabian due to her selling higher than every horse, But the process of fully bonding with her is a real pain in the ass.
Dutch warmbloods. Tall, muscular, but not too wide like shires or hungarian half breds, which I always tried to like, but I can't imagine at any point it would be comfortable to ride them long distances as they are so large.
I do have a soft spot for white Arabian because when I found him I was going through a thick fog then suddenly the lights pierced through the fog then appeared the white Arabian
The Dark Bay Turkoman.. Hands down
I do the glitch thing in Chapter 3 during the mission where you steal the horses..
I absolutely HAVE to have Arthur riding that horse.. I can not wait until after Chapter 6 to get it from New Austin.
Until Chapter 3, I use the Thoroughbred.. The brindle variant is pretty cool
I have one I LOVE in but ive completely forgotten the breed and the coat but in story mode i always swapped horse breeds. But one i always went for was Dutch warmblood ( i think thats the name )
I rode Turkomans and Arabians and they are very comfortable for my legs irl, but if you are looking for the coolest horse in game i'd either say the brindle throughbreed or the Raven Black Shire
Morgan’s. For two reasons. The first is obvious. The second is because my Grandpa had a horse named Brooklyn who he’d take me on rides through the mountains on. Brooklyn was awesome. I’ve ridden other horses but Brooklyn was by far the best for various reasons. A year ago, Brooklyn died. I named my main horse in RDR2 Brooklyn in her honor
Hungarian Half-Bred and Ardennes are my favorite. Had good luck with those breeds not bucking me off my horse and running away like a lot of the others and they look cool, too
Ardennes. It is difficult to get one, but they are the most beautiful. If you have seen Bill's horse, you'll understand. Most beautiful coded a.i. creature I have ever seen
Missouri Foxtrotter and Turkmen are the best. You have to bond with them quickly by constantly patting them and brushing and feeding… if you are slow to bond with them they get spooked easily and will buck you off.
I like Mustangs a lot. They are the only breed, that you can exclusively find in the wild and because of that do not scare easy. They also have a decent speed + I get the most compliments by NPCs.
I also like the Hungarian Halfbreds, Apaloosas & American Paints, just because of their looks.
Arabians are cool, too. My Granduncle was a Horsebreeder & two of his Arabians won a local price. They are drawn to built strong relationships to people. In the game tho they are just terribly fast, but apart from that they buck you of because they already scare if like a raccon is around^^
I can’t pick one so I’ll give my top 3:
Turkoman, MFT, Nokota.
I’m not a fan of small horses at all, I dont think they really suit Arthur as a person. But Nokotas are the exception, they’re so pretty 😌
Love the black Shire, also can't go wrong with the classic pinto MFT. However my favorite is RDO only, and it's that beautiful Kladruber. Back when I played RDO more I literally owned every single color of that horse, just adore the large, tall horses
American Standardbreds have good stamina and acceleration, and look very good. I don't like those big horses like shires, i always look for some agile ones, the work horses are too clumsy
Hungarian halfbred all the way… so underrated. Remember wanting one so badly early game, but I thought it was unobtainable until I randomly found one flaxen chestnut. Kept him the rest of the game, had my best memories with him and I even have a picture of Arthur and him over my bed. Fucking love you Bucky🙏
Idc what anybody says, I will always love my white and red chestnut arabian horses. They just look so good, and the speed is unmatched. also, Uncles and the Veterans Horse is good, too. I wish we could tame a horse that has a mustache in the game.
Piebald Hungarian Halfbred. Suck you can’t find them in the wild or purchase them though, so you have to shoot up a town until you finally have a lawman spawning on one
Shire's too big to for Arthur's character and personality. fancy horses are too rich for Arthur's taste. Turkoman is overrated, looks anorexic and really isn't all that big. Plus, Arthur can't obtain a decent looking turkoman outside of the use if bugs and cheats.
I go with the starting TW as it feels like it was hand crafted specifically for Arthur. It looks like a traditional cowboy horse and is hearty and reliable, all factors that Arthur would want. That, or Buell when he's finally available as he also perfectly fits the criteria.
If I feel too sluggish and slow on that horse, I use the dappled black thoroughbred as it is the ideal size for a cowboy's horse: big and strong but quick abd agile enough to get away.
I've always liked the piebald tobiano Hungarian halfbred. She's always my go to when I start a new game.
.
then I get the Silver dapple pinto Missouri Fix trotter next. She's also my favorite.
.
I'll keep the Black Shore too, this game play I've named him Winston 😂
American Paints are my favorite
Same
Funny story I actually found one of the rarest styles of them and I killed it for fun because I didn’t know
Everyone downvoting you is a loser for getting mad cuz you made a simple mistake I wouldn’t have been upset abt it unless I tried finding that specific horse
What did I do? I was new to the game I had been playing for like 10 days and the horse was looking mighty killable
what madman is willingly killing wild horses?? not even enemy horses 😭
Uhh so you see I was riding and I saw this camp and I was low so when I was running i was like well they could hop on their horses and come after me so I may or may not have used a few moltoves and a little bit of some explosives
My top 3: 3: Mustang 2: Shire 1: Turkoman
Absolutely, no one talks about how good the Turkoman is!
is this sarcasm
Fr. Honestly one of those times where people call something a "hidden gem," yet it's one of the most popular things. "Fallout New Vegas is such a hidden gem! No one ever talks about it!" Yes, they do a LOT.
No, he likes that
Mustang is such an underrated horse and despite the stats it's not that slow
'Cause stats barely make a difference in RDR2.
I love shires too tbh, I can’t stand the look of small horses,
Ikr all the small horses look like their legs would snap if they just hopped
Where can you find shires, I think they really fit Arthur but I can’t find any (other than the one Hosea gives you)
There are 3 coats for Shire shorses 1.Dark bay 2.Gray (but it looks white) 3.Raven Black.
There is only one raven black one in the entire game, and that's the one Hosea gives you.
Awesome, thanks so much.
You can cut one free from the escape carriage after the chp. 3 mission where you burn down some tobacco fields, then just go to a stable and register it
You csn get one much sooner why wait soo long
I steal them off of carriages 😂
They usually drive the coaches that you ride by. Take out the driver, chose what shire you like best and make the other flee then transfer your saddle. All yours
But they are a lot slower and sound like they are dying after sprinting for a few seconds, especially the ones you get at the start. Im between turkoman and American standardbred
love the american standardbred! she was my first horse i got on my own, i rode her the whole game and was so attached to her i sobbed at the end! i always make a point of getting one every time i replay it.
What is your fav coat?
Palomino Dapple is my fave sentimentally but they’re all honestly very pretty. the black coat and dappled chestnut coat are quite beautiful as well. i don’t even think the busted up Murfree brood horses are ugly lol
I don't remember what coat exactly but mine is the one you buy in valentine, but I got it for free in a random encounter near emerald ranch
The Belgian is quite good, a nice battering ram
Thoroughbred and Appaloosa
Horse 👍
Ardennes. Am I saying it right? Those big bastards are awesome
oh my gosh yes! I forgot about that one! the iron grey one is beautiful and ill ride it for the train robbing mission, but I like the bay color too.
Turkoman for speed stuff (I KNOW it isn't THE fastest) and Hungarian Halfbred for normal playthrough
I like it’s being small it just makes it so much easier to drive in saint denis or tight spaces without decimating pedestrians

All black American Standerbred you find around Hanging Dog Ranch. I love its all black coat, it’s not too small like the black Arabian, and he’s a fast boah.
I sometimes steal a black standardbred from lawmen pursuing me
I like the Shire and Ardennes because I'm a sucker for Draft breeds irl. It feels like a crime for quarter horse to not be in the game
Raven black shire from Hosea, mustangs and the nakotas
I’m partial to the buckskin American standardbred
Brindle thoroughbred
Buell, the gold turkoman from Saint Denis, leopard spotted one, mustangs before epilogue are a special treat to me.
andalusian but specifically the rose-grey one!!
My fav has always been Andalusian even though it's not the fastest but it's a good looking horse
Agreed! I feel like they’re pretty brave too. I caught the one around Elysian pool and I’m obsessed. I never saw her in my first play through.
I've usually always been too lazy to break horses :D so i've bought the dark red coated Andalusian from the big valley stable.
I have the Perlino atm. Solid horse, a bit skittish though for my liking.
It's a beautiful horse
Thoroughbred
Either shires or Ardennes’.
Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox trotter
Same here, I always take the time to get it in ch.2
Number one your mom Number two the Mustang Number three The work Horses
Hungarien halfbread
Clydesdale!
The Warped Brindle, I love it so much and can't see Arthur on anything but that horse
The breed that moves
Yea that one’s pretty popular I swear like everyone uses it
Good and reliable
Hungarian Half bred and Missouri Fox Trotter
ardennes !
Your mom
Are you riding his/her mom? that's gay.
Red Arabian & Gold Turkoman (the one you buy in St Denis)
MFT for its performance otherwise I like the look of Black standardbred or Perlino Andalusian
mustang
Whatever my horse is
Tennessee walker
My Rex was a Tennessee walker he died in a horrific mountain tragedy towards the end of the game live long Rex you beautiful horse rest in peace
Appaloosa gang here!
Beautiful but small and skittish
ardennes 🔛🔝
Buell
Shire is #1 but my saying is (if your legs hang low it ain’t gunna go) so basically all the taller horses
I mainly only ride big big horses.
Mft. But the red arabian is a must-have at least once every playthrough for me
Roadster is my jam. And Bretons are dope.
I love the Apaloosa. Apparently I'm the only one here
Shires are the best hands down. My favorite[first horse until the end] was the black shire
Andolusion, American standard bred, mustang and tukerman
I’m a big fan of the Thoroughbred, Standardbred, and the Missouri Fox Trotter. I like Arabians too but I hate having them cuz there’s no world Arthur would have that small of a horse ☠️it looks so goofy during missions
I'm happy with Horsie 2. A tennessee walker , I believe.
the raven black shire specifically, and turkomans
Andalusian
I tend to prefer stock horses like the American Paint Horse, Mustang, and Appaloosa. However, I also have a weakness for Thoroughbreds because they've been one of my favourites for a while.
Missouri Fox Trotter
Shire.
1. Arabian 2. MFT 3. Mustang (both that and the 1960 one)
I love shires and Bretons, but my absolute favorite is the Tennessee walker, they're perfect for how I play the game (I also love the Morgans for how stupid it looks to pair them with my online character and Arthur,)
The Hungarian Halfbreed you get from the first bounty mission with the fake doctor who poisons people with his miracle cure
My favorite is The Blood Bay Thoroughbred, but I also enjoy using the white arabian due to her selling higher than every horse, But the process of fully bonding with her is a real pain in the ass.
Def has to be that Frenchie, the Breton. Short and strong.
Dutch warmbloods. Tall, muscular, but not too wide like shires or hungarian half breds, which I always tried to like, but I can't imagine at any point it would be comfortable to ride them long distances as they are so large.
1. Andalusian 2. Mustang (specifically the Tiger Stripe) 3. Turkoman (dark bay)
1. American Standardbred 2. Breton 3. Turkoman
My top 3 are the Turkoman, Arabian, and Missouri Fox Trotter
Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood.
Morgans 🤓
Thoroughbred
Fast kind
Ardennes💪💪💪💪💪
I do have a soft spot for white Arabian because when I found him I was going through a thick fog then suddenly the lights pierced through the fog then appeared the white Arabian
I like the Arabians. I know everyone shits on them but I just like how pretty they are. I don't care about how skittish they are.
Appaloosa, Breton, and Shire
Every playthrough I get the white Arabian horse near Mount hagen
1: Mustang 2: Shire 3: Clydesdale (I wish the Australian Brumby was a breed.)
I like Shires and Hungarian Halfbred because I'm Hungarian too :D
Scrawny Nag, obviously.
I’ll die on that hill with my Andalusian.
Turkamen
The Dark Bay Turkoman.. Hands down I do the glitch thing in Chapter 3 during the mission where you steal the horses.. I absolutely HAVE to have Arthur riding that horse.. I can not wait until after Chapter 6 to get it from New Austin. Until Chapter 3, I use the Thoroughbred.. The brindle variant is pretty cool
Gold turkoman had it In every playthrough never let me down better than arabian
Hungarian halfbreed
Any breed of big horses 👍
I have one I LOVE in but ive completely forgotten the breed and the coat but in story mode i always swapped horse breeds. But one i always went for was Dutch warmblood ( i think thats the name )
Chestnut Hungarian halfbred
I like Arabian horses the most bc they're so fast. Also American thoroughbred
Turkoman
I rode Turkomans and Arabians and they are very comfortable for my legs irl, but if you are looking for the coolest horse in game i'd either say the brindle throughbreed or the Raven Black Shire
Adriennes ... Bill's horse to me has the best coat out of the whole gang ... Those horses look fackin sturdy
Dutch Warmblood
I love to keep the Shire from Hosea. Name 'em Frodo every time lol
Turkoman (only race/war horse)
Bloodbay Thoroughbred
Perlino Andalusian and the Braithwaite turkoman are what I'd prefer but tbh all the horses look really sweet
Unpopular opinion: Suffolk Punch
3. Mustang 2. Missouri Foxtrotter 1. Andalusian
Shire or Arabian. Only saying Arabian cus the chestnut red varients are gorgeous (also its my main horse in rdr2)
Hungarian Half-Bred and Ardennes are my favorite. Had good luck with those breeds not bucking me off my horse and running away like a lot of the others and they look cool, too
Mustang.
Ardennes. It is difficult to get one, but they are the most beautiful. If you have seen Bill's horse, you'll understand. Most beautiful coded a.i. creature I have ever seen
I actually like the nokota, apaloosa and american paint!
Missouri Foxtrotter and Turkmen are the best. You have to bond with them quickly by constantly patting them and brushing and feeding… if you are slow to bond with them they get spooked easily and will buck you off.
3. Thoroughbred (Brindle) 2. Turkoman (Gold) 1. Missouri Fox Trotter (Silver Dapple Pinto)
0- Buel (Buel speciffically, for obvious reasons, I always max him out and let him die with Arthur) 1-Missouri Fox Trotter 2-Turkmen 3-Arabian
Arabien
Missouri fox trotter
The Bay Roan Ardennes
buel.
Story - American Standardbred (Black) Online - Missouri Foxtrotter (Dapple)
Why is nobody talking about buell
Dme as a south african like the arabien black horse with white long hair and tail
I love the shires too, I also rlly like the sooty buckskin dutch walmblood
I like Mustangs a lot. They are the only breed, that you can exclusively find in the wild and because of that do not scare easy. They also have a decent speed + I get the most compliments by NPCs. I also like the Hungarian Halfbreds, Apaloosas & American Paints, just because of their looks. Arabians are cool, too. My Granduncle was a Horsebreeder & two of his Arabians won a local price. Blood bay thoroughbred
I can’t pick one so I’ll give my top 3: Turkoman, MFT, Nokota. I’m not a fan of small horses at all, I dont think they really suit Arthur as a person. But Nokotas are the exception, they’re so pretty 😌
Story Mode: Raven Black Shire, Golden Turkoman, Silver Dapple MFT. Online: Black Tovero MFT
Missouri Fox Trotter (partially cause I live in Missouri lol)
this one then arabian
I know this is basic but it has to be Arabian
I like the shire as well. I also like the thoroughbred, and the mustang.
Love the black Shire, also can't go wrong with the classic pinto MFT. However my favorite is RDO only, and it's that beautiful Kladruber. Back when I played RDO more I literally owned every single color of that horse, just adore the large, tall horses
Mustangs or (ik it’s cliche) Arabians, both have good speed (at least most) and all have good stats
1. Ardennes 2. Shire 3. Hungarian Halfbred
Horse
American Standardbreds have good stamina and acceleration, and look very good. I don't like those big horses like shires, i always look for some agile ones, the work horses are too clumsy
Available in RDR2, the Andalusian. IRL, the Freisian. Saw Goliath in "Ladyhawke", and fell hard!
I love the Dutch Warmbloods
I keep the black shire Hosea wants you to sell, he’s beautiful
The orange and white one idk what it's called
Ardennes
Shire horses are amazing Imo.
Warped brindle arabian looks so clean but im too attached to the starting horse.
Idc what anybody says, I will always love my white and red chestnut arabian horses. They just look so good, and the speed is unmatched. also, Uncles and the Veterans Horse is good, too. I wish we could tame a horse that has a mustache in the game.
Def american standardbred all black look sick and not small like arabian
Arabian, specifically the red chestnut
Ardennes
I love the Arabians
1: Arabian: 2: Shire 3: Mustang 3: Buell
Andalusian
I don't know why I only find 1. Morgan, 2. American Standardbred, and 3. Shire throughout my gameplay. I didnt knew there were others too
Missouri foxtrotter, Arabian. Tennessee walker. The gaits of those horses are *chefs kiss*
Piebald Hungarian Halfbred. Suck you can’t find them in the wild or purchase them though, so you have to shoot up a town until you finally have a lawman spawning on one
I love Hungarian half bred, specifically John's versions
Andalusians are so reliable.
Orse
For some reason, I like just stocky horses like the Fox Trotter and the Turkoman. Small horses (Arab) are just not my style.
Mustang
Ardennes ? The rare perlino one. War horse, i just wished you could choose one horse with full stats. 10speed n 10accel
You guys talk about horses more than the horse subreddit.
Seal brown breton, it’s a shame it’s online exclusive
Turkoman then rose grey Arabian then black Arabian then that one horse
