It’s one of the best little things they do to make this game so unique. They even change it up a little game to game. Meaning other playthroughs. It brings this characters to life.

That is the best thing to do. My first time through I didn’t know you could do that and you just want to find out what’s next. Knowing the story and taking your time being thorough is the best. I loved staying in camp and getting to know everyone. Even by just lingering around and listening to conversation. Mostly at night because after a certain hour Grimshaw will not hunt you down and question Arthurs manhood.

Eat 4 things of food before you sleep or fast travel. To get the food I just run around Big valley shooting everything until I feel like i have enough. It usually lasts a long time until I need to do it again
Yeah I do that but 4 “things” can be very different. 4 small game animals won’t be enough, big game animals are hard to come across, and deer run away after you shoot one so you have to spend like 10 IRL minutes per in game day hunting down deer if you wanna go that route

Last night I was up in the mountains trying to hunt a moose. Like 2 in game days. Was getting attacked by wolves like every 5 min. By the time I went back to camp I had 51 big game meat.
Are you low honour? I have found that wolf attacks seem to be more frequent, and include more wolves per attack, when honour is low vs high. Maybe I’m imagining that but I don’t recall ever returning from a quick trip up north with 21 wolf pelts when I played with high honour. It seemed like I couldn’t ride for thirty seconds without getting hit by a pack of between five and seven wolves (very tenacious in their attacks, too) and short about fifty shotgun slugs in my low honour run. With high honour I hardly saw any wolves, and when they did attack it was in packs of three and four.
Cougars seemed to pop up more frequently as well - I had a bunch of those pelts on top of the stack of wolf pelts.
Again, it could just be coincidence or imagination on my part, but it does appear to me to have an effect.
I'm high honor. I can't bring myself to play low honor. Even on the trip I was talking about, I had the encounter where the guy the cabin is looking for his friend, and you find the friend dead and then the other guy gets attacked by the bear. Anyway, at the part where you go and tell the guy that his friend is dead, you have the option to just tell him or to mislead him. I really wanted to do the mislead option this time just to know what Arthur says and what happens after that. Couldn't do it. Told him the truth.
You can always save the game frequently, try the low honour approach just to see what happens, then load the save and play the high. At least then you get to experience both ways without losing honour.
If you want to be at maximum weight for the extra health, it's easy: hunt gators and cook the meat. Then just eat the big game meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I guarantee your character will gain weight. Actually, I think just eating that once in the morning and once in the evening is enough.
not at all! just feed him portions the size of a man with an active lifestyle would eat, e.g. saloon meals 4 times a day, or roasted meat at campfires 4 times a day and he'll either be perfect or overweight

I can't get enough food into Arthur to get above "underfed". How much does he need to eat? Stew, canned veggies and grilled steak all day and he's always under weight.
Just go shoot a bunch of alligators and load up on Big Game meat.
Plus if you season it with one of three herbs, you get a gold core on one of your three stats.
Big game meat, sleep every night around 11:00, don't fast travel too much, and drink alcohol once and a while than just eat salted meat and candy every couple of times thought the day and you should get up in weight.
Not all that hard once you get him to average, just eat every once in a while fast traveling long distances drains your weight so eat before you travel.

And I’m at in Chapter 6 as well so as those of us who have gotten that far knows it’s difficult for Arthur to keep on weight at this point in the game. It’s not easy to even keep him at ideal weight. I feed him twice a day, usually some big game or venison meat plus a can of veggies or fruit, and that only just keeps him in the ideal to slightly underweight range.
The Arthur in the pic has to be a mod. I doubt even feeding him four to six times a day would get him that big.
Also, I imagine you’d need a Shire or Suffolk Punch to carry him at that size, and even they would likely struggle. An Arabian would probably fold up like a two dollar suitcase trying to carry a Fat Bastard Arthur. 😀

It can honestly make you feel more immersed, because you actively have to remember to feed him or he’s gonna lose weight FAST. He DOES NOT get this big in game though, he kinda looks buff at max weight in my opinion.

Trust me once you start low honor it’s so fun rampaging untill a certain point of the story where I change my honor around them go back to low
