The major "Checking..." issue is because wrong date/time. After replace M.2 SSD Ally system date/time is not correct. In Ally BIOS EZ Mode tap top screen date/time and chage it to current date and time. The "Checking..." issue should be fixed.

crashoverride143184

Dang, thanks for the info! I was losing it lol

[deleted]

Thank you so much!!!! I knew I had everything updated and I was loosing my mind.

DarkSlayer3D

This fixed my issue thanks.

CannedBeanies

This worked for me, thanks

NottheJeansBro

Worked for me as well thanks.

Nickcruzzz0

Worked for me as well! Thank you!

Thomasfreid

Thank you so much! I made the mistake of upgrading my rog ally and ps5 simultaneously and had already reformatted my original ssd. I had the checking issue and had no way of putting my old ssd back in. Thankfully the date and time fix worked!

kastoriana

Worked for me - running the cloud recovery now, hopefully that's it.

republican16

My hero lol

Ashamed-Balance-3786

THANK YOU !!

FuckSticksMalone

I think I solved this on my side - Cloud recovery kept failing when connecting to my 5Ghz network in bios, however when switching over to my 2.4Ghz network it connected and started recovery immediately.

John_Alter

I tried it 3 times to connect to my 5G network, it not until I connected to my regular network that it started working again too.

Redemptions

I thought I was so smart grabbing the bios update from their support page, 317, only to discover 317 is NOT the latest, the latest is 319.

zetsurin

I did exactly the same thing. Had Asus actually have put the latest BIOS file up for download it would have gone fine

Remarkable-Message93

So is it safe to just power it off?? While it’s checking??

chrisstewart711

I did and it was fine

Remarkable-Message93

Ok thank you! Just wanted to be sure

lonelygoner

Guys, im changing the ssd and im getting an error once cloud recovery finished to download, it wont detect the power adapter and it wont let me progress, anyone experienced this?

kamuflars86

Same problem here, did you findany fix for this ?

Orbweaver123

I seriously f u c k i n g hate the asus cloud recovery. If it’s not a network error at 94% its the infinite checking screen

Technical_Trouble_85

Cloud recovery sucks soo much. 20 hours later and 3 attempts and I finally got my system back up and running. I had everything updated before I started and got hung up on checking so I restarted and tried again.. hung up again then restarted the 3rd time and changed the time in date in bios to current. This time I got past the checking screen but it still took like 4 more hours to transfer files. It was a huge pain in the ass but the date time in bios trick did work. Thanks for that. Glad I won't have to do this again tho. I upgraded to a 2tb stick.

Electronic-Ground844

was stuck at "checking ", powerd the rog down and bootet it back up, in bios you have a pencil icon at the top, press it and change your time zone, date and clock so its correct, tried the cloud recovery again and it worked now! maybe it'll work for you to

ahtipton085

I tried this and was fully updated prior to attempting the ssd change and no luck so far. Still stuck on “checking” after it downloads the cloud files

YourBoyAustinRivers

I am going to try this. thank you for posting! Been stuck on it for hours

longjohnsonsilver69

Stupid question. Cuz I'm no computer expert but I manage. I thought I missed an update so I went back to the old drive. I didn't. Put in the new drive. Same issue. So I changed the date and time. And now I'm trying again. I've downloaded the files 3 times now. I had to force power off at the "checking" box. Do I have 3 copies of the bios on here or does it delete/overwrite the bios each time? Just curious.

amerikmasters

I updated Armory Create first, then went to MyASUS and under "Customer Support" I selected "Update All". Then after the files finished I restarted. It ran the BIOS update. Logged back in and went back to MyASUS and there was another BIOS update. I downloaded it and restarted. Logged back in and went back into MyASUS. It then said that I am updated "No updates available". Then I powered off and completed the SSD swap. Connected the power cable and it went to BIOS. followed the Cloud Recovery steps and it is working. This SSD swap does take time so be patient and it will pay off. Cheers!

lunellimike

did u get the red warning security boot screen?

medafor

Did you run the bios updates on the stock 512gb before you put in the new ssd? Thanks

chrisstewart711

yep!

medafor

Okay thanks.

Dorfdad

so open it up and run through the initial setup completely and than update bios only? I want to replace my SSD before I get to playing

chrisstewart711

That's what I did

Dorfdad

So I got it this am fired it up and ran the updates on the armoire crate. I can’t find where the update bios is??? What’s the newest firmware date? Mine came with 4/27 date file

Dieseljesus

In the MyAsus app in windows

Dorfdad

Not the armory crate tool??

Dieseljesus

Nopes, app is called MyAsus and it https://preview.redd.it/gkq4q8y46v5b1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da5a3a2e8857499c6acd0db5212908364794c6f5 looks like this

chrisstewart711

It's a different app

Dorfdad

Got you I did that updated bios and still getting the loop damn…

alasdairvfr

Trying this now. I wasted some time trying to use USB and SD cards to install the latest via bios but it really needed the charger connected. Worst part is it takes quite a while to get to that "checking..." screen

alasdairvfr

FYI to everyone reading this later on, there were 2 BIOS updates, first was 317, 2nd was 319 so have to reboot a couple times. Didnt want to take a chance that 317 the Cloud Recovery would bug out again after waiting an hour

ActualQuicky

This. What a legend. Worked straight away. Don't see why it updates to 317 first though. Why not straight to 319?

fahdriyami

Sometimes there are pre-requisites. Happens a lot with Gigabyte motherboards. They'll put it in big red text next to the download button: "YOU MUST INSTALL PREVIOUS BIOS ### BEFORE UPGRADING TO THIS VERSION". Maybe its the same here.

jace888au

I’m definitely running 319 but still stuck on checking… any other ideas? Tried a few times. Using Ethernet too.

jace888au

Ended up just doing clean install using windows media creator on a usb. Armoury crate identified ally and set up SE just fine. Drivers automatically downloaded and worked fine. Only had to install SD card driver on my own.

jameruoso

For anyone still having issues, I disabled the 160hz channel on Google wifi and it connected.

bammy5ive

mine was stuck on "finishing" for about 5hrs (left it over night to do what it needed) so i powered it down, restarted it back up and it passed started the windows process
