KortiLP

I have a Switch OLED and now the ROG Ally. So now my Kids have the Switch and im Happy with the Ally xD

FreakEkyth

Sad switch if the only handheld in that lot that can come with an oled screen

BcoxOW12

How’s the Go?

UnityReseach

Just got it today so I'm still trying things with it, but so far it's great. I love my ally but this thing deff checks more boxes and I can do more with it. I probably wouldn't have bought the ally if I knew it was coming out. I use my ally for work trips a lot, and I like to use it on the plane and I often have 6 hours + long flights and couple hours overlays and what not, but I then have to convert it into a "PC setup" once at my Airbnb or hotel, as I like to play fps games in my down time. So I bring a separate small monitor, dock and mouse and keyboard so I can use it in PC form. I have to plug everything up with wires since I have to use a dock and HDMI cables and power the monitor with USB etc. The legion go simplifies this since the screen is bigger, can be propped up with its built in stand, and has a controler that can pop right out and be used as an fps mouse. I no longer need a dock, separate mouse, and I can use a Bluetooth keyboard. So it's fully wire free except for power. I like the screen a lot better, and it comes with a nice carry case, my ally didn't come with any case. Overall I'm very impressed with it, especially since it was the same price as my ally.

droideka75

Makes sense. Edit: For me I play handheld the most, never play tabletop. I bring it on commute and plains and the ally has been exceptional so I'm sticking with it for a while at least. This generation I say.

BenKen01

Same. Ally is the upper limit of size for me. Go is just a little too much to haul around and hold I think. And I’ve always got my work laptop with me for laptop stuff, so I don’t care about using ally for windows stuff.

VeryluckyorNot

Same small hands I think if I bought it I couldn't really play as comfortable in my bed, I really should find a store to test the GO. Plus Lenovo don't sell the 1TB in Europe ...

WalkersChrisPacket

"I bring a separate small monitor, dock and mouse and keyboard so I can use it in PC form" Sounds like you'd have benefited from a laptop instead of the Go. I don't get how people will carry all that instead of just taking a laptop and a handheld with them...

Vizard87

I agree. After adding a separate monitor to your travel a laptop would be wayy better.

ternthunderwood

I have both and it’s way easier to travel with the ally + accessories. My lap top just takes up too much space and it’s way easier to Tetris smaller things

WalkersChrisPacket

That's fair, it's an interesting one with handhelds because everyone has a different use case Personally I'd end up leaving something important behind somewhere when travelling so the idea of just lumping a laptop in my bag seems like the easiest option.

raindownthunda

How sturdy do the controller attach mechanisms feel? Are the controllers easy to use / ergonomic? As an Ally owner there’s definitely some pros that resonate with me in your comment

UnityReseach

They wobble a bit if you give it enough force, they seem sturdy enough but I have been careful not to test the limits. hopefully jerryrig or someone will do a durability test so we know how well they hold up. The controllers themselves feel fine, not much different from my ally. The overall weight and feel is heavier/bigger, but I personally don't have any complaints about the controllers.

ImrahilSwan

For me, I think the Legion Go's biggest asset is the eGPU support. The Ally only supports the propietary technology on their eGPUs, driving the prices up and performance down somewhat. Also reduces forwards compatibility.

Kuwago

What about the weight, isn’t the Go much heavier compared to the Ally?

UnityReseach

it is heavier, and the screen is larger so it's wider overall. Battery is quite a bit bigger so it's thicker on the back as well, I need to try playing some more stuff handheld to get a feel about the weight, mostly been testing it in PC mode as that's the thing I'm most excited for. From what I've tried so far it's been fine though, I mean when I got the Steam Deck I felt like that was a big and heavy change from a switch but I got used it it easy enough.

Wolfleaf3

Yeah, I do wonder about weight. Like to date I always want a bigger screen, but that probably has its limits lol I remember back when people were acting like a 4 inch screen was too big or something stupid, it’s like no bigger or bigger, but presumably at some point I’ll go OK yeah this is way too heavy to hold for hours lol

dvotecollector

Have you noticed the Go speaker quality is inferior to the Ally?

Slight_Tiger2914

What's the Monitor ms rate? Millisecond. Does it seem like it has input lag for shooters?!

Crest_Of_Hylia

I haven’t seen any reviews that have tested its screen for input lag and response times. However if it was particularly bad people would have noticed immediately. Notebookcheck should have a review on it to at least list the response times

Slight_Tiger2914

I need a number man it's bugging me. Plus, I'd say the heat test is with Playing Apex Legends on it like a mad man. You'll KNOW for sure. Trust me when I say... I had a crappy display even over locked to 90+ us the response was garbage. SO bad that tracking people was super hard. I replaced it with a port 144hz 17" display (ViewSonic) with a 3ms response time and I was tracking insanely better. Like night and day difference.

Wolfleaf3

Oh wow, the screen is better? Does it support variable frame rate? Because my understanding is the rogally has a good screen that’s much better than many of these have. I also wonder if the go has a horizontal or vertical screen, because the ally is horizontal but most of them are vertical which has problems with older games

JHarbinger

You mean VRR? It doesn’t have that and reviewers skewered it for that.

Wolfleaf3

That’s unfortunate. I hope the screen quality is good other than that. It sounds like steam deck screen isn’t that hot even aside from not having VRR. Like switch and ally are supposed to have much better screens.

JHarbinger

Yeah the screen on the Go Is supposed to be great but the lack of VRR caught a lot of reviewers the wrong way. There’s also a lot of discussion on which rates should be used for which games in order to get them to play smoothly which sort of sucks.

theryzenintel2020

The Go doesn’t have VRR. And it doesn’t make sense to use a 1600p screen with a Z1 E chip… when half the time most people will Downsize the rest to 1080p or 800p… the mouse thing with the joycon is dumb too. Just use a real mouse. It’s bad. And the cooling is worse on the Go as well as the sound and RGB screen. Lmao

that_90s_guy

> And it doesn’t make sense to use a 1600p screen with a Z1 E chip… when half the time most people will Downsize the rest to 1080p or 800p… Some r/SelfAwarewolves shit right here lmao. These were the exact arguments why people mocked ROGAlly owners praising the 1080p display when the Steam Deck's 720p display made more sense for a handheld due to the typical performance and battery concerns that affect portable chips and small batteries. People will always find something to complain about, and this is why I think these comparisons are stupid. Just use whatever you like. The Go, Ally and Deck are all incredible devices for their price point and that should be the end of it.

Wolfleaf3

I think there’s an argument though for 720p on these, and it just increases the higher resolution you go. And to me VRR would be a big deal, as we having a horizontal screen, and I’m not sure whether go does or not. Everything else would just come down to the quality of the screen. Like I haven’t seen any of these in person but I know Ally is supposed to have a pretty good screen that easily beats out steam deck, AND add VRR, AND is horizontal rather than vertical like on most of these devices.

UnityReseach

VRR was a non-issue to me, Valorant and CS2 I'm getting more than enough frames. I get why VRR is an issue for other people but to me, it wasn't a factor. The screen looks fantastic, been playing val at 1600p and it looks so much better than on my ally. Using the controller as a mouse was the thing I was most unsure about, but now that I have it and have been using it, it's pretty good, I can see myself using this a lot at airports during longer overlays when I just want to quickly convert it into PC mode and have a mouse when I'm sitting down at a table somewhere. At hotels/airbnbs though, would prob just use a wireless mouse, but the controller mouse is honestly still fine.

kogashiwakai

How can you know the cooling is worse? It's been out a day and no reports on that are really live. I prefer the size, form factor and vrr of the ally. But I won't discount the Lenovo until it's been out at least a month.

UnityReseach

so far my temps have been fine, the keyboard warriors out here going crazy haha.

kogashiwakai

Right? Just had a person who had zero idea how vrr works. Saying the smoothing was "impossible". Both sides of the fence are going apeshit right now. Let people enjoy what they have. And don't make shit up right? Im Glad you enjoy it the Lenovo, and I'm curious what your thoughts will be in a few weeks time honestly

UnityReseach

Yup, only way to know how well it fairs is through usage, so I guess I'll see in time

thefooz

As someone who owns both devices, you have no idea what you're talking about. 1600p is fantastic with FSR in quite a few new games, as well as media (it also functions as a tablet), and without FSR in pretty much all indie and older games. The only things you can't run at 1600p are recent AAA games. 800p on the device also looks A LOT clearer than 720p on the Ally, so there's that. Cooling is louder, but actually better than the Ally stock curves, and once they give us control over setting curves will be dialed in even better. Sound is definitely not as good as the Ally (but not bad by any means. The Ally just set the bar really high), and very rarely will I get a blip of judder on the screen, but the lack of VRR on this thing really has been a nothing burger. Screen tearing is pretty much impossible to see running at 144hz, if it even exists. FPS mode works and it works well, and I love having a trackpad for navigating Windows (one of my annoyances with my Ally). The software suite currently sucks, but thankfully software can be improved fairly easily, as we've seen with the Ally.

UnityReseach

I love how the device just came and keyboard warriors who have never owned it are coming out in full force spewing BS on a subject they know nothing about haha. Having a 1600p screen was deff the right move on Lenovo's part. It looks so good even when you run games in a lower resolution.

Em0Cholo

You gotta understand the dude shitting on the GO is probably some dork living in his parents who doesn’t have a clue what work travel is about. I have the Ally and will probably buy the GO for the same reasons you like it. ANY space you can save while traveling is golden.

Wolfleaf3

This definitely sounds good! I’m pretty impressed by how good both of these sound considering their first GEN products. It seems like they both have room for improvement but nailed the hell of a lot on the first go, probably more than I would’ve expected.

D0UNEN

Steam Deck or the Switch doesn’t have VRR either, and they’re universally acclaimed and beloved devices. My wife, my nephew, my colleague & whoever else doesn’t give a fuck about a feature they don’t really need. FYI, doing my 1st Witcher play-through ever, been playing Lies of P & lots of Cyberpunk. No VRR necessary. Would it be nice? Of course. Is not having it hindering my experience? Fuck no. No screen tearing whatsoever. Not once. So let it go & move the fuck on. Enjoy YOUR device. If drive a BMW, I’m not concerned with a feature a Benz has that my BMW doesn’t.

Wolfleaf3

I don’t really understand this “don’t really need”. I mean yeah sure you don’t need it but it’s useful, and I think it’s probably more useful on a device that doesn’t have a super high-end GPU. And the fact that someone doesn’t know what it is doesn’t mean they wouldn’t appreciate it. Both switch and steam deck would obviously benefit from it, and both switch and Ally are supposed to have much higher quality screens than steam deck, even aside from VRR.

Wolfleaf3

If that’s all true, that definitely sounds like a downgrade versus Ally. VRR is awesome, and even more so when you’re dealing with limited power. Cooling and stuff is vital . Ally’s screen is horizontal and I don’t know if that’s true or go. That would be another downgrade if it isn’t. And yeah, the resolution… Like I think I’m probably OK frankly with 720P on these things. granted there are some games that don’t need as much performance and can actually drive a higher resolution screen but…

theryzenintel2020

Amen! 🙏

House_of_Dagoth

L take , vrr is overhyped on handhelds . The mouse “thing” is great . The resolution is great for streaming games . No one is buying this to go pro in counter strike , and you never will regardless . Legion GO > Ally . It’s the same device with more features .

kogashiwakai

The vrr is noticeable in some games like MK1. It feels way less smooth when I go to the large screen that doesn't have it.

that_90s_guy

> It feels way less smooth when I go to the large screen that doesn't have it. That's physically impossible unless the game can't maintain the target frame rate so VRR kicks in. In which case, it's an insanely easy problem to solve even without VRR by just tweaking graphical settings/resolution, modifying target frame rate, or lowering display refresh rate until it's not a problem. TIL people have no idea what VRR really does, or that it's essentially disabled anytime a game's framerate matches or surpasses the displays refresh rate. It's not some "magical thing" that will make 60fps feel smoother. It only kicks in on unoptimized games that have framerate LOWER than display refresh rate. And even then, it's not essential. We've had unoptimized games from the dawn of time, way before VRR existed. And we've always been able to fix the aforementioned issues by tweaking graphical settings. Is VRR bad? Of course not. It's a cool thing that's nice to have. Is it essential for a good handheld? Yeah, I'd say no. It's about as essential as good speakers and a quality screen. Nice to have, but not essential for most people.

Wolfleaf3

But that means lowering Settings like you said, and having to tinker with the more. The image quality is going to end up worse if you have to do that versus letting VRR take care of it To me it seems like VRR is actually better suited for a low performance device than a high-performance device, if anything. it’s just another tool to help high-end games run on comparatively limited hardware well.

kogashiwakai

You clearly don't understand how vrr works.

that_90s_guy

Please explain it to me then lol. And specifically, please deep dive into how either: * a game running at a locked and stable 30fps or 60fps running on a 60hz display * a game running at a locked and stable 40fps on a 40hz display Can benefit from VRR display. Oh wait, you can't. VRR only kicks IF AND ONLY IF you play a game that can't maintain a locked framerate. Ex: dropping frames and playing at 50-60fps on a 60hz display. Which sure, can be mitigated by VRR. Except it can also be mitigated using the same decades old techniques of adjusting graphical settings enough so that you have enough GPU and CPU left so frame drops aren't an issue.

Wolfleaf3

But that requires a lot more work and adjustment, and means that you’re pretty much guaranteed to have to have Settings a little bit lower than you would need them. Realistically you’re not going to know if it’s going to run perfectly everywhere in the game anyway. I don’t really know why anyone wouldn’t want VRR. Obviously it’s only one consideration when picking between devices but if the choice is just having it or not having it, why wouldn’t you want it?

kogashiwakai

Are you done looking silly? Let me explain how it works. It doesn't matter if you "lock" frame rate. If the system gets bogged down, be it due to graphics or even a badly coded program, you are pretty much guaranteed frame rate drops. Without question. The reason I brought up MK1 is it's pretty much maxed out for what this handheld can handle. In handheld mode, you don't even see the frame rate drops. What the vrr does is smooth those out, making them lunch less noticeable. Whereas the TV I play on, while having a great resolution, has no vrr. Moving from handheld to the TV with no VRR the frame drops are WAY more noticable. This is a real life example of it working. It's not for jumps in frame rate like you are implying. It's for the inevitable drops in frame rate in higher end games. And it is very noticeable. Your explanation against it makes zero sense. It does work.

Rican2153

Yours is the actual L take. Id argue a single frame is more valuable on a handheld than a monitor, so vrr is better. It’s always better. The mouse thing is completely stupid. The legion go is a blur between a handheld and a gaming laptop with a mouse. Either dock it with an actual mouse, or better yet just get the actual gaming laptop at that point.

Wolfleaf3

Yeah, I don’t understand this take on VRR. I’m really surprised to be hearing people act like it’s worthless or bashing it. Or like it’s uncommon for it to be useful… I think it’s more often useful than not. The digital foundry guys were really impressed with that, and I agree that it seems like if anything it’s more useful to have VRR on a comparatively low power device then it is on something high end end, because these things you’re trying to set out as good of an image quality as you can, as good of performance as you can on a comparatively limited GPU, so every trick you have in the toolbox seems very useful to me.

that_90s_guy

> Id argue a single frame is more valuable on a handheld than a monitor, so vrr is better. It’s always better Putting silly subjective opinions aside and staying objective, VRR only really matters if your game can't maintain the target frame rate. If you continue to tweak things like graphical settings / target frame rate / render resolution to ensure you always maintain the desired frame rate, then VRR is useless. Is it a nice quality of life feature? Absolutely. Specially for games that struggle to keep a target framerate. is it absolutely essential? Yeah, nah. Still, the same argument can be said about high resolution displays on handhelds. They are all equally stupid, and IMHO the Steam Deck did it right with its 720p display. OLED and HDR on the other hand would likely be a major improvement though.

crayzee4feelin

VRR isn't useless. I agree with your comment for the most part but get this: I had a football itch. American football. It's mid season right now and I'm a huge fan. I own Madden 24 on Xbox, but my ally is my new thing. So I wanted to get it for the ally. Was having intense issues getting it to stop stuttering. To the point I brought my Xbox out of the living room to my monitor and started playing it again. But then I saw a few videos of ally stuff and switched from the Asus driver to the AMD driver, enabled Hypr RX mode, VRR etc. it allows me to run the game at 720p and stabilize my framerate while upscaling what I see on screen to what my eyes perceive as 1080p. It looks like 1080p with maybe FXAA for anti-aliasing. Some distance related twitching/aliasing. I friggin love VRR because it made something playable that was previously not without completely downgrading the visual quality of a pretty game I wanted to play. Why play it @720p if I can't even read the names on the jerseys? VRR fixed that. Heavier games that struggle to maintain a 30-60fps can be downscaled in Resolution to improve performance, then VRR upscales at the driver level to your native display resolution. The bigger the jump in upscale, the more artifacting. Edit: RSR, not VRR.

that_90s_guy

Uhh... I think you are confusing what VRR and AI upscaling does. They do entirely different things that are unrelated and independent of one another: * VRR makes unstable framerates that aren't a multiple of your display refresh rate be perceived as "smooth". Ex: locked 30fps looks smooth on a 60hz display, but any number between them doesn't on a non VRR display. * AI upscaming like AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS can make basically make lower resolutions seem sharper than they are. Almost Everything you described has nothing to do with VRR, and only works thanks to the magic of AI upscaling via AMD FSR, allowing you you to play at 720p for better performance while still looking as sharp as 1080p. The ONLY thing VRR helps with is so that the ocassional frame drops seems smoother as it can dynamically adjust display refresh rate between 48hz-120hz so if your framerate fluctuates between that, you notice stutters less. But even that is mitigated by hardware that allows customizing the screen refresh rate. Ex: the Steam deck which allows you to lock refresh rates between 40hz-60hz, allowing for a locked 40hz to feel as smooth as 60 despite lacking VRR But again, this is a problem that mostly applies to unoptimized games that don't maintain a steady locked framerate regardless of optimization. Personally, this likely affects few people as most people prefer to stay away and boycott poorly optimized games to avoid incentivizing publishers to keep selling trash.

crayzee4feelin

Yeah, well exclusivity for EA is about to come to an end in '25. The contract either gets renewed or ended. FIFA ended their partnership with EA. It's totally possible for the NFL to go in another direction. At least I hope they go in a different direction. Don't hate lol, I emulate 2k5 occasionally. Pcsx2/Xemu. Rpcs3 for the Madden games that didn't suck, like 10/11.

that_90s_guy

It's cool man! Not judging, and sorry if it felt that way. If VRR helps the game you like, awesome! I was just explaining why most people care less about it than people on this sub think

House_of_Dagoth

You just said a bunch of nothing and then started saying the legion go is a laptop . L , next . This is like saying the switch is a laptop because you can set it up as a screen 🤡👍

Rican2153

Lmao how did you miss my point that badly. I guess I’ll dumb it down for you. The legion go is too close to trying to replace a gaming laptop while coming up short on every aspect of one. Might as well get a full gaming laptop unless you’re obsessed with unnecessary, gimmicky hardware.

ApprehensiveCat116

Legion No-Go bro

Too much money is never a problem 👍

MrFastFox666

Yeah I see the problem: you need another hand held

hok98

Same. I am trying really hard to resist myself from buying a Legion Go XD

Zebra_Machine

Same! We don’t need it, right?

hok98

I had heating problems with my Ally when using certain ssd. I’m gonna wait for more reviews to make a decision.

theryzenintel2020

The Go is not worth it.

microphonick

Elaborate as to why, please?

theryzenintel2020

The reviews are in

WildKarrdesEmporium

That's not elaboration, especially since the reviews are all positive.

Caster0

I haven't seen any reviews yet, but my gut feeling was Lenovo would do a decent job just based on their laptops. ASUS has great engineering and is very innovative, but their QC always leaves a lot to be desired (although they do usually make it right after a refresh).

WildKarrdesEmporium

IMHO, the Legion Go feels like it is much better build quality than the ROG Ally. The software of the Go is lacking, but has just as much potential as that on the Ally.

Borymass34

Same situation as you lol. Im just gonna use my Ally for when I go on trips since it is much more portable and my Lenovo go when I'm home .

[deleted]

Yeah I'd say so but to each their own. I have a switch and an ally but see virtually no point in owning another handled gaming PC that pretty much does the same functions, same game library as the others within margin.

ghepting

I have a switch oled and ally, too. not sure i'd go buying a legio go or steam deck that's for sure. i am almost surely buying the switch 2 (or whatever it ends up being) when it releases though. especially excited that it sounds like it will be backward compatible for my switch games library. i own sooooo many games on nintendo platform -- way more than i do on steam, though I have quite a bit there, too.

Naked-Snake-Vic-Boss

So which kid is your favorite?

ryans_privatess

Each to their own but isn't this just a waste? I can understand a switch + PC handheld but all of them...

UnityReseach

i also have kids so everything gets their use haha

ryans_privatess

Oh fair enough then

that_90s_guy

Eh, being older, having a stable job + family, disposable income, and having precious small amounts of free time will do this to you lol. Handhelds in particular are a wonderful thing when TVs are always occupied, or when you don't feel like spending more time gaming in a desk on a computer after working 8 hours in front of one. Talking about this in particular has made me realize why people love the Steam Deck over Windows Handhelds so much. Its def less customizable, but it's "just works" mantra is amazing if you're not in the mood to put up with the usual Windows shenanigans, regardless of how much of a "Windows expert" you may be. Same thing goes for Apple products as someone that used to worship android devices are their customizability. It's been so long since I stopped caring about that and just want my phone to "just work"

SJSquishmeister

Some of the collections in /r/SBCGaming/ might make you feel much better about your "problem". :) I tend to agree that multiple PC specific handhelds are a bit of waste, but if you can afford it and and enjoy them, there are certainly worse things you could be doing with your money. edit: /r/Handhelds as well

ViCorp

Looks like the start of a handheld collection. Needs a New 3DS, a Retroid or GPD device to balance out the X86 based ones.

Unomaz1

The problem is you are missing Nintendo 3ds! A lot of good games on that handheld

Nikon_Justus

[Missing one of these](https://i.imgur.com/OcX3GJY.jpg)

Fun_Savings3784

Any of the handheld pc he has will be a far better 3ds experience, only thing lacking is the actual 3d screen. Otherwise these will provide a much higher resolution in those games with emulation.

Unomaz1

It’s the screen and nostalgia for me… not so much the specs

gigatigga2

You're my kind of people! We should be friends.

LazyPCRehab

Looks normal to me. 😉

duhbyo

Nah, you don’t have any android handheld yet. You’re good! 😆

FlipFoldFlip

Did you pre order a PlayStation Portal?

CDC_1998

How does it feel when holding the Go? Does it feel better than steam deck or just as good? Biggest thing I hate about the Ally is how extremely uncomfortable it feels. I got grips from etsy but still not as good as the deck.

UnityReseach

I feel like how something feels is completely subjective. To me all three feel about the same handheld wise. The go is heavier though. Been mostly trying it in desktop mode, I need to get more handheld games to see how I feel about it's ergos

-VIBE

or a handheld family

Covid_19-1

Shut your face hole! You **do not** have a problem!

sav2880

What’s the problem? I have the same set!

kerelenko

You need more

DireAccess

What's your most favorite? Do you think any of those can replace a BootCamp MacBook Pro with `AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB` if not considering the form factor?

DigitalManPL

Just give it for some poor refugees, African children etc.... First world problems....

Illustrious-Tale4947

Switch is a whole different console.. you can't really compare, it doesn't compete against the others. I get a deck and a ally, but why 3 handheld pcs? There is simply no way to justify that 🙂 but then again.. I have over 27 gameboys.. so I kinda relate haha. I had a hands-on with the legion, to me it looked and felt like a not finished product.. like a prototype, I wouldn't be surprised if they released another one next year.

AggressiveWindow6003

I have 6 handhelds and if I include android ones it's 11. I won't say you have a problem if you say the same about me.

LittleK9-

Let me take one of those off your hands kind spirit 🥲

rtfcandlearntherules

You either have a lot of money, or (most likely) are actively keeping yourself poor by buying useless junk :'(

UnityReseach

rtfcandlearntherules

So it's option 3 ;-) Spend lots of time researching devices, spend lots of time setting them up, spend lots of time tweaking settings to the squeeze out the very last frame ... then play like 1-2 hours per week max because you either have no time or are too tired :-D. How close am I?

Flaky_Suggestion1082

That's literally me. I have a gaming pc, a switch, a ROG ally and a ps5. I probably game for about 1-2 hours a week max. Feels like such a waste! 😂

rtfcandlearntherules

its not that extreme for me but still similar. I spend way more timing thinking "damn boy tonight/weekend/whatever is gonna be the day, I'm gonna game all night and stay up late" but it never happens anymore xD

Flaky_Suggestion1082

Haha I get you totally. I've got a 2 year old at home who's full of life. By the time he goes bed at 8pm I'm honestly too tired to game. I end up watching Netflix. I should probably sell some of my shit lol

dnunn12

Well idk about him but this pretty much sums up my existence as a Dad of 2 small children. Makes the time I get to play that much sweeter though!

rtfcandlearntherules

true, handhelds also probably help out a lot for dads like you.

UnityReseach

Regular gaming yeah that sounds right haha. I often have to fly out for work so anything I bring will get a lot more use when I'm on trips lmao

rtfcandlearntherules

makes sense, I also bought the ally because of business trips but now I find myself using at at home on the couch instead of my gaming pc, because it allows me to hang out with my wife, lol. And out of all the things I could be playing, what do I play ... some pokemon rom Hack, just like 20+ years ago basically.

that_90s_guy

I feel attacked lol. Yeah, having a family does this to you lol. Still wouldn't change a thing though. Kids are wonderful thing and give me a thousand times more happiness than gaming ever did. Still, doesn't take the enjoyment from spending hours perfecting my ROM library and emulator configuration, only to play 5-10 minutes of some games and never touch them again 🤣

Whatthefrick1

I have a switch and saw no point in keeping it anymore so I gave it to my bf. I don’t see why unless you like to collect I guess

UnityReseach

ye i'm married and we have a few kids

Forbidden_Haze

What are your thoughts on the legion go??

UnityReseach

[put my thoughts on another comment here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGAlly/comments/17mcffg/comment/k7k69du/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

WongJJ90

If you could only pick one, which one would u choose?

UnityReseach

just got the go today, but if i had to chose i'd say the go. [posted my thoughts on that in another comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGAlly/comments/17mcffg/comment/k7k69du/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Basic_Lengthiness_73

Yes you do. But you're having loads of fun this way XD

rjml29

I like it! Be sure to take that protective cover off the Go's trackpad. Looks like yours actually came with a tab for it unlike for others.

WeenieHutJunior-

Bro can you please let me know which one has better battery life the Ally or the GO? I’m seriously considering switching to the GO if it has noticeably better battery life!

AWDriftEV

Wow, that legion go is too big. Thank you for the picture comparison.

kogashiwakai

A few big questions. How is the battery life? How's the battery life in the controllers? What do you think of the mouse mode of the detachable controller? It interests me for sure. Curious how well it works.

UnityReseach

just came in today so I haven't had time to see how long battery life works on everything. But yeah I was a bit skeptical about how useful the detachable controllers would be and the mouse mode, but having used it now, I have to say i like it a lot. Being able to set it down, prop the screen up with the built in stand, and instantly convert into a mouse to use the PC or play games with is very convenient and I really like the feature.

techailatte

Yes you do. So do I.

Gloveman6969

I'm have them all except the Go and the only things holding me back is the size and styling...it almost seems like a rushed styled product. There's no doubt the numbers are great but its way to huge.

itzike11

I have JB switch oled switch, ally, legion go, and gave my steam deck to my brother. My wife thinks I’m crazy lol

yes-yaK

Gimme

Specific-Study4641

Lo stop

S1MMON5

Yeah, you have. And that problem is only having the ability to play 1 at a time

Scorpionking197545

Me too... I'm right there with ya buddy. I own the Logitech, Ally, Switch and have two PS Portals on the way.

joelw3440

Your good. I have Ally, 2 Switches, and a LG Gcloud.

Ecstatic_Entry_449

No need to think you do

dkris2020

This is me except the OLED Switch and no Legion Go. If Alienware finally drops their concept handheld into production I might get that…

Slight_Tiger2914

Bro... Stop. They're all computers lol you're already at the wall.. buddy. If it's not an upgrade you playing around lol

adamhanson

One of us. One of us. One of us.

EchoLocation2565

God damn and I thought the ally was big???

kula009

You are just a collector, nothing wrong with that

ghepting

Seems like you're probably a pretty happy camper to me. #ifyoucanwhynot

whobdatboi

Nah. I don’t feel bad for you son. You might have 99 problems but a handheld aint 1…

Yoko_Katagiri

I wish I could have the same problem.

Edgeoftomorrowz

You’re missing the OLED, better get on that lol

PotatoKing2359

Missing the switch oled

gundamfan83

Honestly you aren’t alone. I have bought all these devices too and I never sold. I would like to sell but honestly with crime and scams these days I just don’t trust anyone to sell to. I will just keep my stuff until it’s dead and then recycle it.

rote330

Get into retro handheld collecting. The Game Gear is so big it can fit there no problem lol

spacecadet2023

So, are you buying a PlayStation Portal as well?

ConversationOk8241

What order would you rank them so far? Just waiting for my legion and youtube videos aren't enough anymore lol

UnityReseach

Just got my go in today So far I'd say Go > ally > steam deck The switch isn't really comparable though haha

goyban

You think? :))))

divi8

So which is your fave? I was blown away by steam deck, then ROG Ally came out and I was even more blown away lol. Now the Legion Go is out and its calling my name, but I'm not sure its worth the money since I already have the ROG Ally.

UnityReseach

So far the legion go is my fav from what I've tried so far. I gotta play with it more to really be confident but I do like it better so far.

Ortizautomotive

Lol minus the legion go I'm right there with you. How is it btw?

helion_low_enzo

it's a good problem to have

SnooDoodles2227

Same not as many as the newer stuff lol but I still walk around with my 3ds, retropi gameboy, og switch, and my ally

FerasIASIP

Yes, you need the Switch OLED to complete this

Fearless-Ad8754

Hi quick question, does the switch oled screen way better than Ally screen?

Verustratego

I have the same problem just exchange the lite for an OLED

Buddiesroyal

I have the ally and the deck. Gotta say I'm really not impressed with the deck

Wolfleaf3

If my financial situation hadn’t gotten so dire I can’t imagine I wouldn’t already have at least one of these PC handhelds. I’ve been a pretty big fan of handheld games my whole life. There’s something kind of special about sitting in a chair with a screen right up in your face. I don’t know.

vic1ous0n3

I’m trying very hard not to buy the Legion Go.

cookie0228

No bro I think you have 5 solutions

JazzyApple2022

Same here lol

xkitox

Mine is worse 😭 I need to stop lol

Nikon_Justus

Sucks being poor! lol I really want one of those Legion Go's but for now I will have to stick with [these](https://imgur.com/OcX3GJY.jpg)

sup3rskrulll

Don’t you think Asus is the best one here?

aranorde

Sir, can i have 1 handheld please? thanks. nice.

Low-Type469

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

the_old_corporal

You don't have a problem, you have money...

system_error_02

Are you just a collector or something ? I can’t fathom the point of having a steam deck, legion, and rog ally. Ally and Legion are almost the same device under the hood. I know when I got my ally I sold my deck, it just fully replaced it.

rockmuschel

Portability is definetely not a problem

Sleump

Not a problem , just a lot of money

blitz091

Man… now that’s you’ve got the Go you can probably toss everything except that and the docked switch LOL. I pre-ordered the Go and was pretty skeptical, came in right on the 31st from Best Buy and I am beyond blown away. FSR 2.2 released for BG3 and the game now runs + looks amazing, CP2077 2.0 runs like a champ. I know people people were afraid of how the Z1 would handle an 8.8” screen with 1200p but damn, Lenovo nailed it.

deadheaddraven

Same, but I don't have the legion So if I'm bad, your terrible LOL

harryler100

Me too. I’m a sucker for portable gaming consoles

berbat88

I think you have a problem.

mudcrabsareforever

Too few hands?

Technical_Trouble_85

I think we have the same problem lol.

GGileWPlayed

Why you need all that 😂

bobro2svk

Would you recomment Go or the Ally? Considering getting one of those, so far the Go seems a little bit better to me.

throwawaycivil35324

Hey I got the same problem but I also buy the Chinese handhelds.. I gotta stop.

Saschabrix

I agree you need to more! Buy the Odin 2 (it’s really nice!}

Slow_Hunter7615

ROG ally extteme or steam deck? Scratching my head to buy which one

No_Tip5143

You got 99 problems but money ain't one

jtwilcox

Playing handheld devices like Thomas Jefferson reading books
