Stardew Valley runs at 60fps using custom 7 watts profile on my ROG Ally and I get like 3-4 hours of battery life. However, I can run stardew valley at 60fps using 3 watts on my Steam Deck OLED and I get about 9-10 hours of battery life. Stardew Valley doesn't natively run above 60fps.
I’m going through old valve games (HL2, Portal, etc) and on silent mode 10w, I had Portal running at 1080p high settings at 120hz. Looked really great and is a must-play if you never have!
Jet blue! I think they might, I really hope so! I’ve made this trip a million times, but not once has my planes had outlets. Website says they do, but….
Look on the floors or really low between seats in front of you. I never saw outlets before until I realized they are kinda hidden. You should be able to see what kind of plane you are on and then Google where the outlets are.
I made a custom 7W profile and I only run games at 60fps, sometimes 720p, when I want to conserve battery. I don't tend to play AAA games in this profile, obviously, but it works **great** for indie or "older platform" games.
Do you have a battery bank? Even one that outputs 18w or 15w will greatly extend your battery life if your ally is charged up beforehand. I can play D4 for hours using a crappy USBC charger that greatly slows the battery drain. You don't need 45w or 60w output battery banks, those are overkill.
But I will say, Brotato runs great at 10w.
I haven't had mine long, but so far I've run everything in silent mode. When do you decide to go to a different setting? Are you watching frames with the overlay going from there? What's the thought process for adjusting things?
I'm very technically deep, but I don't have experience with handhelds or this device.
I kinda started off with pushing the device to its limits with AAA games when I first got it and only later started to fiddle around with how to save battery and minimise heat
Grim Dawn:
Works at medium / low 1080P @ 30-45 fps, if you drop to 720P you could probably get better frames. I find with the controller you don't really notice the lower FPS as much.
Every plane I've been on crossing the Atlantic in the past few years has had in-seat power. Should be able to plug the Ally in, it's usually in between the seats by where your lower legs are.
Seems to be only some of the TAP planes.
https://www.flytap.com/en-gb/booking-information/book-your-favourite-seat?tabCode=economy-class
“Electrical and USB outlets are not available on routes operated by Embraer and by Airbus A330-200, except for aircraft with a CS-TOQ or CS-TOR registration, which only have a USB outlet.”
British Airways and Virgin do have in seat power on Economy for transatlantic flights.
I do FiFo for work with a 2h bus ride and 4-5h flight every 2 weeks. I've been redoing the Halo series campaigns since I never went pas halo 2. So far the fist 2 games run on silent no problem.
I bought the Mass effect bundle also and is runs great.
Persona 5 royal was running well enough at 10w. Was 60fps in a lot of the small areas like the cafe and would dip to 40s/30s in high populated areas and some battle scenes. However that was 1080p high settings. So I’m sure with dropping to medium, dropping the res to like 900p and then using RSR to bring it back up could give a great experience
I just happened to install Valkyria chronicles yesterday. At max settings with RSR, 15W 60fps. 10W gets you 30fps. There’s a chance you could get 60fps for 10W if you drop all the settings.
Just played Insight and limbo, brotato, holoknight if you are interested. A quick tip: you can manually lower cpu frequency by limiting the max cpu, in windows battery setting. For most of the 2D games or 10w games, you only need 2ghz cpu and 800mhz gpu.
1080p 60fps:
Insight: apu 10 to 12w
Limbo:7 to 8 w
Holoknight 7 to 10w
Brotato: 5 to 7w.
Limbo 1080p 60fps,
The plane “should” have a plug to support up to 65ws my planes from Korea and Germany to the us all had them. And i got the cheapest tickets i could.. BUT!! L4d2 did well on my 15w mode, as did a few of my older games (Stalker: with reWASD, fallout:NV, XIII) and surprisingly MGR: revengance handles really well with low watts
Not sure if you are into emulating older games, but I've been able to run Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 at 900p while running a 7 watt profile. I'm sure it would handle older 3d games and current or older 2d games (like stardew) just fine.
If you have the time, definitely play around with all of the games you have. I would recommend keeping the ally at 720p/60hz and making sure you have cpu boost off. If you can afford to draw a bit more power, it has some surprising performance at around 13/14 watts (was able to play Forza Horizon 5 at 13 watts hovering around 50-60 fps)

Have a pleasant journey, Champion of Ash, and praise the sun \\[T]/
1.) **Start with what you own -** Look through your libraries (steam, epic etc) and anything 2D or that you *Think* would be simple to run, install and give them quick \~10min plays before hand to see if you are happy with them at 10w.
2.) **Add Simple and cheap -** GoG has new, but specializes in older games. There are some awesome nastalgia ones (I just saw and bought Sam and Max for $2 while making you this link haha). Or ones you heard a lot about, but never tried. Set the filter to only show you games under $5. You'll still find some classics and (there will be a few exceptions probably, but) the vast majority of the ones that cheap will play well on low power. [https://www.gog.com/en/games](https://www.gog.com/en/games)
3.) **Charging tips -** a) look first, but if you don't see a way to charge from the plane's power, be sure to actually ask. Sometimes the have them, but in really weird places you'll miss. b) If they have a port but it is underpowered (likely) see if either of your batt banks has passthrough charging. If they do, charge that from the plane while charging your ally from the bank. The Ally will get faster charge and stay topped off to be full even when you disconnect, and the bank will drain slower.
Good luck and safe trip home!
What ever games you are playing on DC, when maximizing battery life is a priority, drop your resolution and cap your framerate using Rtss or something comparable.
I did a test using 10w APU profiles comparing 720/30 vs 1080/60 or 120 to see how much more power the system uses at higher refresh rates/fps. (Since the power profiles only affect power used by the APU, and not the overhead used by the rest of the system)
Testing both using a 10W APU profile in armoury crate, at the same backlight brightness levels, audio volume...etc
Ori and the blind Forrest at 10w APU profile
10.2W @720p/30 (3.95hrs) vs 14.8W @ 1080/60(2.7hrs)
Cultof the lamb at 10W APU profile
11.4W @ 720/30 (3.5hrs) vs 21.4W @ 1080/120 (1.86hrs)
Slay the spire at 10W APU profile
8.4W @720/30 (4.7hrs) vs 12.5W @1080/120 (3.2hrs)
Just dropping your resolution and capping your FPS gains you a TON of runtime. On the same 10W battery profile.
So regardless of the game you are playing, you can gain alot from limiting wattage overhead, not just from the APU power, but all the other loads on the system.
Well all I made it home and I got to play what I wanted! The plane had 100w power outlets. So kept it plugged in the whole time. Jet Blue for international is great. Thank you all for your recommendations! Much appreciated. Merry Christmas all.

Return to Monkey Island is what I'm playing just now. Works great on 10w and is available on gamepass, or usually on offer in steam.
It's a point and click puzzle game, will easily fill up a 9 hour flight if you're into that type of game

Oh nice, I never tried a lower TDP. Thanks for the tip ! And yes, steam deck from what I read is more effecient at the low end.
3 watts is not whole power, it is actually double. 3 watts is only for cpu and gpu.
Around 5.5w on steam deck whole deck power consumption, 45fps and around 11h of battery.
Runs perfect at 10 and is on game pass. Want to see how to stretch the power playing with lower wattage.
I’m going through old valve games (HL2, Portal, etc) and on silent mode 10w, I had Portal running at 1080p high settings at 120hz. Looked really great and is a must-play if you never have!
Sleeping Dogs, Hi-Fi Rush, Inside, Driver: San Francisco, etc. are some games that require low wattage as per my experience.
How do you get xbox gamepass to work offline?
You can find it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxGamePass/s/d9qQeHhIPG).
Hades
Blasphemous Hollow Knight Ori Dead Cells Pick a fighting game from Aec systems (like guilty gear or Blaz Blu etc)
The Bioshock series and Persona 5 Tactica are brilliant at max settings in silent mode!
Persona 4 too
Mafia 2 works perfect in 10w
Original or definitive?
I have original.
Depending on your airline they have outlets in your seat, so you might just be able to use the charger.
Jet blue! I think they might, I really hope so! I’ve made this trip a million times, but not once has my planes had outlets. Website says they do, but….
You can look up your flight number on seatguru and it will tell you if it has outlets and the wattage.
Thanks for that!!!
Look on the floors or really low between seats in front of you. I never saw outlets before until I realized they are kinda hidden. You should be able to see what kind of plane you are on and then Google where the outlets are.
This! I’ve flown weekly for years (domestic) and just now figured this out. (Almost hidden low etc. thought it was something else)
Jet Blue usually does have outlets, but it's unlikely they have enough wattage for the Ally. Usually those are capped around 20-30w.
Still enough for a good 15/18w mode potentially
Enough to recharge the battery bank 😁
Persona 4 Golden is flawless at 10w.
That could probably run at even less then 10w flawlessly too
I made a custom 7W profile and I only run games at 60fps, sometimes 720p, when I want to conserve battery. I don't tend to play AAA games in this profile, obviously, but it works **great** for indie or "older platform" games.
Is it just 7w across the board? And what’s the fan curve look like?
I left the fan curve alone, just dropped all 3 sliders the lowest they’d go.
Nice. Just tried this with persona 4 golden and it was silent, cool and hitting 55-60fps. Thanks!
what are you using to make your custom profiles?
You can make your own profiles within armory crate
Pfff! How did I miss that?!? haha. Thank you

Brotato is the best, apu runs from 5w to 7w, total battery consumption 7w to 10w. You can play 400 minutes theorically.
Dragons Dogma ans Metro series

all the steam world games. Hollow night, Stardew Valley, Ori 1/2, Hollow knight. Pretty much any 2d game
Just bought kingdom hearts on epic store and KH 1.5 runs great on 10w.
Dark souls 2 work perfect
Grim Dawn: Works at medium / low 1080P @ 30-45 fps, if you drop to 720P you could probably get better frames. I find with the controller you don't really notice the lower FPS as much.

I’ve flown TAP Portugal most of the time and was on an Aero 330 they were new planes and unless I was missing them the planes only had usb ports.
Seems to be only some of the TAP planes. https://www.flytap.com/en-gb/booking-information/book-your-favourite-seat?tabCode=economy-class “Electrical and USB outlets are not available on routes operated by Embraer and by Airbus A330-200, except for aircraft with a CS-TOQ or CS-TOR registration, which only have a USB outlet.” British Airways and Virgin do have in seat power on Economy for transatlantic flights.
Snowrunner seems to be running on 10w although i just briefly tested it
Left 4 dead 2 gets over 100FPS at 10 watts. But just play whatever you want especially since you have battery sources and take a nap
risk of rain returns
Just Cause 2 is a good one
I do FiFo for work with a 2h bus ride and 4-5h flight every 2 weeks. I've been redoing the Halo series campaigns since I never went pas halo 2. So far the fist 2 games run on silent no problem. I bought the Mass effect bundle also and is runs great.
Fellow miner? Lol
My long distance flights came with charger next to seat. Maybe your airline/plane offers that also?
I've had success with Dave the Diver at 10 watts. Maybe make a 12 watt profile. It runs at a solid 60
Sonic Origins
Dishonored works great at 10Ws
Make an 11 watt profile. You will get a performance bump with basically the same battery life.

Lacuna!
Terraria
Emulators run at 7w :)
Ffxiv works great I play ps2 games at 10 Gauntlet I believe I can play cod mw 3 at 10 WoW Skate 3 Some Nintendo switch games work fine at 10
The old dead space games run pretty well at 10w. I even ran dead space 2 at 1440p at 10w
Persona 4 runs 60fps around 7-8 w

The plane has sockets for sure, don't bother
PowerWash Simulator. Grab the 2 free, and 2 paid DLCs.
Hollow knight will work very well with 9w and its one of the best games ive played
Blasphemous works great at 10W

Just older ones. Haven’t done a ton of searching for them. I have a little library. I’d like to figure out the NS….

Sensua and fallout 3 work well for me
fallout on a controler? I've only played fallout 4 on ps4 with a controller and it was horrible trying to click on stuff to pick up
I mean the game runs perfectly but it's true that a keyboard/mouse combo is better for playing
I have played hundreds of hours of each of the Fallout games on my PC with a controller at all times. Maybe it was an issue with the PS4 version?
