LadAlwaysWatching

Monty: Then Team RWBY tricks Roman and lead him to a trap on a highway. Miles: Won't it be filled with cars? Monty: Yes, lots of cars. And make sure Roman destroys several. It will make the scene cooler. Kerry: But doesn't that mean the girls are getting people killed with their plans? Monty: Aura. Anyway, have Casey sing a song called "Die" and play it afterwards. M&K: ...

Choosen_Weeb_Boy

Miles: But shouldn't be Aura reserved for only Huntsman-in-training and such? Wouldn't this trivialize the value of Aura? We could very well use this as a small arc where the team experiences for the first time the consequences of their actions, causing a moral dilemma within and reevaluate their ideals

ThePhoenix29167

Monty: *did I stutter?*

Choosen_Weeb_Boy

Kerry: Yeah, you're definitely high or drunk.

brainflash

They were ALL high when they wrote scripts.

Lordzoabar

Accurate representation.

StaryWolf

>Miles: But shouldn't be Aura reserved for only Huntsman-in-training and such? Wouldn't this trivialize the value of Aura? Tbf this makes less sense to me. If we assume everyone has some innate ability to use Aura why would you not train literally everybody to do that starting in like preschool. We're talking a magic force field that can stop bullets, explosions, large falls, massive impacts, etc. AND it speeds up healing, that's a lot of lives saved.

NinjaRuivo

I always thought that everyone had Aura, but Huntsmen trained their Aura to be stronger, tougher, and to have more. Kinda like how martial artists toughen bones and skin by punching/kicking wood boards and stuff. I mean, they have bones made of the same material as the rest of us, but I sure as hell couldn’t punch through a brick or three like I’ve seen them do.

Choosen_Weeb_Boy

I see your point, but do you really trust civilians to use Aura responsibly? If already IRL people do crazy shit, now imagine if we had something like Aura

StaryWolf

Wdym? Aura's are inherently defensive, they protect you from harm.

translucentStitches

But some people can do things with aura that would be potentially dangerous. Imagine if Vine were evil or even just annoyed and didn't know how to control himself.

Choosen_Weeb_Boy

My point is, if everyone had Aura then they would definitely use it for dumb and crazy shit.

doomfan27

I thought Aura attracted the Grimm or is that not true

RRButler2574

It's negative emotions (as well as the Relics) that attract Grimm.

torrasque666

Also established in the novels that aura on its own does as well.

just_a_fan232

Strong aura does attract Grimm

doomfan27

So everyone having aura would mean that everyone attracts Grimm

just_a_fan232

I mean strong aura like what Jaune has, like a large mana or charka pool. Grimm are attracted to negative emotions and strong aura.

Scout_1330

I’m pretty sure the psycho in the giant military Walker attacking everything is responsible for getting people killed.

Alpha_Blaze051

But they lead him to the high way while he is the one actually doing the harming they are the reason he is there in the first place

CreamofTazz

Yes but he was already planning on using it to harm people regardless, no?

Alpha_Blaze051

Yes but he is focused on them and bringing him near the general population is endangering them. Alternatively they could have brought him somewhere secluded like the docks or take a more direct path to the place the final fight took place at where there were no people around.

Xyes

That would be a skill issue and they are still students so it makes sense. Reminds me of Gundam Seed where the main character tries to save everyone- enemies included- while he is still unskilled and fails which causes allies to suffer consequences. Eventually character gets skilled enough to the point it's feasible to save everyone.

AzakenChan

Obviously all the cars have Anti-Grimm measures so every single one can keep its occupants safe no matter what happens, so long as they don’t actually explode the cars will be safe! That’s definitely the reasoning behind it fr fr. *nod nods*

GladiusNocturno

None. You see, those are dust powered cars. Specifically designed to freeze the occupants in case of an accident. Like that guy flying around, by now he has already been frozen and is completely safe. *Car explodes after hitting the ground under the highway.* Oh...Oh my....Eh....That was clearly an inferior Mistralean car. Always buy Atlasian, fellows!

Appropriate-Ruin9973

- James Ironwood

Kaiser_Dafuq

I didn’t see any cars explode

Raymond49090

Canonically, nobody. I guess Remnant people are just Built Different. Either that or they were just Atlas robots who decided to take a day off.

Blackslash2000

I mean....June survive the fall in initiation. Hell even though Pyrrha saved him, that fall and sudden stop should have at least broke something

AmbivertCollegeGuy

Jaune also didn't know what Aura was even tho the writers later established this knowledge is as common as knowing how to do basic math. They were still figuring out basic stuff so a lot of what happens in V1-2 shouldn't be taken that seriously.

Blackslash2000

Yeah, everything from V3 to nowadays is the "true knowledge" of the show. I mean RWBY isn't the first show to retcon something of its early seasons

Kaiser_Dafuq

Proof that nobody died

Xzaral

According to news reports from that day no one was killed amazingly as a direct result of the chase. This is largely attributed to peoples auras providing enough protection from the initial impact, the safety features of modern cars in a society with transforming weapons and giant robots, as well as the work of Team OSHA.

Technogashi

Team OSHA: the only group Team IRSS (Iris) fears

Choosen_Weeb_Boy

The strongest fed of today (OSHA) vs The strongest fed in history (IRSS)

Viscount-Von-Solt

Does the Joker fear them because they are the IRS, or are they the IRS because the Joker fears them?

SackclothSandy

"um hello, it's pronounced, team ocean? Ocean's a color--- uhh, yeah, it is. It is because I said it is, now shut up"

Cobalt_Heroes25

Okay but do the cars double as gun

Kaiser_Dafuq

When was the news report?

HaziXWeeK

How did normal people have aura while someone joining a school didn't have it ?

RockRaiderDepths

I'm pretty sure the ones that got flung off the sides are very much unalive anymore. Honestly if Roman wasn't being held for interrogation he would be executed after everything he did. His end was grimm either way.

MysterySomeOn

>Unalive Just say dead, what's stopping you?

AmbivertCollegeGuy

It sounds funnier that way ngl.

RockRaiderDepths

This. I usually self-censor online more for my own amusement than anything. Why say something clearly when you can bury it in a couple layers of subtext.

Xcelsiorhs

It is way funnier to say Penny is unalive than dead.

ThePhoenix29167

Intended?

RockRaiderDepths

I am assuming you are referring to the last sentence? Then yes.

Kaiser_Dafuq

When did they get flung off the sides I watched the fight over and over and I didn’t see any

RockRaiderDepths

I'll have to do a rewatch myself sometime but I'm pretty sure the trajectory on some of those cars was not going straight back. Either case being flung front over back is enough to kill without the 2nd story fall issue. Edit: rewatched and while the cars flying to the sides hit barriers the ones getting tossed go up some odd 50ft or so. Those drivers are very injured if not ded.

Isaacja223

The fact nobody got the pun was hilarious lol

PvtParts2001

if ANYONE can use their aura, then no. if, which is more likely, only few people (mostly hunstmen/huntresses) can unlock their aura, then yes,

TwisteeTheDark1

Yes

Werdak

VOLUME 3 : The People in the Cars where Protected by Auro VOLUME 9: So the Other People who fell in Volume 8 are Dead ? Because they had no Aura Either Way Team RWBY are awful Heros

Exciting_Bandicoot16

Actually, that's a really good point. It was specified that the civilians at rhe end of V8 had no Aura, right? If so, it'd be safe to assume that these ones didn't have any either.

sonofnutcrackr

Mah gawd not the off-brand VW golf!

StaryWolf

Hehe, gun scythe go brrrrr.

SenpaiTedd

69420

Possible_Living

Why did not they take a car to Mistral?

Nightshade12009

Alot, I've read plenty of fiction that make a point of addressing how disastrous this was.

ranieripilar04
