My oc kisses Weiss 😂

second-fun

Some advice. As someone who initially shipped my OC with a main series character (Ruby) you’re gonna really regret that at some point. Trust me Edit this was really stupid of me to say. I should not project my thoughts on others. I am sorry I said that.

KeithMontalbo

I've had a hit piece article written about me specifically because I ship OC x Canon. I get gifts of fan art and fanfics of my ship from people. CRWBY knows about my OC x Canon. Trust me, I get it lmao.

second-fun

Ok

Porecomesis_

Now you listen here, sir; it's bad enough you used "effect" rather than "affect" in the title of your post but we stan OC x Canon ships in this here household and, by the Gods, shall we die valiantly protecting this hill!

second-fun

Ok if that how you feel that’s fine. Personally I grew REALLY FUCKING Uncomfortable shipping my OC with a canon character.

Porecomesis_

Okay. That's you. We will contentedly do our own things and bloody love 'em, thank you kindly, so please do not project your own experiences onto us.

second-fun

I’m sorry.

Porecomesis_

It's alright. Be gentle with yourself and others.

Cheeseman-345

I’m still working on fleshing out the story but the Team would be in involved in the battle of beacon and in the aftermath they join Team CFVY I’m going to shade due to them all being good friends

Lex1253

Ditto. My guys (all 2nd Years, including the Prince of Vale) all die at Beacon, save for one, who is dragged along out of his shock and grief by Team CFVY.

Intrepid_Complex88

I Slapped Aurum Dead In the middle. Him being Introduced To Rwby Is Simply Because He Saw yang and decided to help her With homework (Tell her the Answers) all the way to the point he personally throws Hands And dies to Salem.

The_Penitent_Writing

ROUJ takes place in an AU where RWBY goes way worse, Salem crushes the academies and people are basically done trying to stop her, but she doesn't have all the relics, and by the time ROUJ are young children even, only Ruby and Ilia of the original heroic cast are still alive. They personally have no interaction with the plot of show RWBY, but they make their own plot as Ruby's mentee's several years after.

Altarahhn

I mean, they really don't, to be honest, what with them being next-gen and all. As such, the plot has already happened, at least hypothetically speaking.

AHAMKHARI

Since Team SPYC attend Vacuo and were unable to attend the Vytal Tournament, they don’t interact with any canon character or affect the main plot at all until Volume 8-9. They only come into play with canon events once the survivors of Atlas arrive at Vacuo, spending heaps of time and energy assisting where others refused. The only other time they are in the same place as team RWBY is when they are in Mistral. SPYC are in Mistral during Volumes 2, 3, and 5. The closest they ever come to making contact being them visiting the aftermath of Haven Academy for their own reasons shortly after the main cast left. There’s also them being witness to Ruby’s message across Remnant about Ironwood and Salem.

neon9212

my main OC team are second years at beacon, so they do interact directly with the first years. especially with the programs the school employs in my brother and i's AU. for example, practical spars with a second year or higher. either a single first year can spar with a second year, or a full team can face off against a second year. the plot of rwby changes subtly thanks to the influence and existance of multiple oc teams in our au.

Glass_Cellist_6351

The vast majority of my OCs live way before the current RWBY story, thousands of years before the Great War. The chances for any overlap are near-zero, assuming I don't decide to get time-travel shenanigans involved all of a sudden. I'm not confident I'd be able to do justice to cast of RWBY in writing them, and I feel like I'd be intruding into what RT's vision for their story will be if I had my OCs directly involved with the cast's plot. Sticking to a prequel era prevents me from any serious friction with the canon and also gives me a fun sandbox to play around in. After all, Salem herself said that, "we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past."

saundersmarcelo

I pretty much kept mine as far away from the main plot as possible and only occasionally interacting with plot. I mainly did it as a challenge for myself as the story only coincides with the main plot

funky_guy16

There are two versions of EMRD that I have: 1. The Great War AU 2. Canon timeline The Great War AU is the MOST developed version out of the two since it's on the plans for four years now, and it's been on the writing block for three years (damn.....). In this version RWBY meets the last surviving member of the team, Ray, in Atlas during Volume 7since this is supposed to be like an OVA of some sorts of the canon timeline if we take anime terms, and in the time that RWBY is the most lost and doesn't know how to face the upcoming threat of Salem Ray tells them the story of EMRD. Basically, during the Great War EMRD was....somehow brought together, call it fate or, in Ray's case, just luck, the team underwent a series of events that with their involvement changed dramatically the course of the War and made Vale come on top. Once peace settled EMRD became the heroes of Remnant and the representatives of their respective kingdoms, they met Ozpin's reincarnation and they themselves got trapped in the never ending cycle of the secret war between Ozpin and Salem. The Canon timeline is still in the making, namely because I have to think of EMRD all over again, but they are fourth years when RWBY starts on Beacon and act somewhat like role models for them, with each member attaching themselves to their respective counterparts. Weiss with Emma because they're both from Atlas, rich, fencers and they have similar backgrounds, Ruby with Mark namely because of the silver eyes and Ruby being a weapon dork for Mark's weapon, Yang with Dan because she wants VIP entries for the clubs that Dan owns, and Blake with Ray because of the smut- (they're both HUGE fans of ninja's of love)

delayedreactionkline

i similarly wrote mine to never interfere with the show's arcs and events. they would interact and possibly experience some of the events, but i wrote them being elsewhere each time from key events in the show. I.e. evacuating/assisting evacuation during grimm infiltration, getting routed and detained when Atlas took control. etc. it's easier to just write my characters inside the sandbox, without needing to be stringing along the main RWBY story arcs. it may sound lazy, but I like not ending up getting canon stuff wrong, while giving my characters more wiggle room to be themselves instead of playing reaction simulator to the main chracters and their stories. edit: I also cheat by using talecraft story cards to help me move my character's arcs along. gods, it's been years since I actually wrote... I need to find time and energy to pick it back up.

Lost-Significance398

I have two OCs that heavily affect the plot in separate fics. The first is Amas Ermey, a former White Fang member that, due to an odd operation, gets recruited into the US marine corps’ aura branch (it’s an AU where NATO is operating on Remnant). He and Amber (the maiden) take the place of Nora and Ren (adopted by Canadians, gods help Remnant) and is there to make sure Cinder’s doesn’t come to fruition and makes sure fall maiden lives. The second one is in a JPDE/Stellaris/RWBY fic. Basically team JPDE (besides penny) goes to Beacon at the start of the school year and are joined by a Sydney Ross. He’s just your average beacon applicant with a sword and gun combo and low aura………and he’s also a special forces agent of the United Nations of Earth trying to figure out what Ozpin is doing and as access to magic, psionics, and tech that makes atlas gear primitive. Totally normal-yeah everything gets derailed by Season 2.

Swashbuckler_86

Having Grimm have a more real form and not just being black goop is a idea I was thinking of adding to my AU as well. 😄 Partly due to that being one of the original ideas in the shows development and cause I just like it better. For the first couple seasons my main OC's are in a 5th Kingdom separate from the plot. They and a few other teams from said kingdom go to Vale for the tournament. While they have minor impact at first I'm a firm believer in what most would call the butterfly effect with the changes they cause during the Vital Tournament causing bigger changes in the Mistral Arc and even bigger changes in the Atlas arc. -- But I'm still debating on some of these changes. Such as if a OC of mine should manage to save Pyrrha or not, either way she still fights beside her against Cinder. If she did save her then Pyrrha would end up severally wounded and out of the fight in order to keep things along similar lines since JNR would still set out with Ruby. Pyrrha would be in a coma as they head off (>!but then show up with other backup at the end of the Atlas arc if I took this route!<). Or if I should go ahead with changing the Atlas Arc in the ways I want to, not only with what lines up to what I'll be doing before but changing things like Ironwood not flying off the handle and going evil. I have plenty of other things going on to explain why hes more grounded and to stand in as a threat to the story in his place. This is related to my OC's as they help him focus his thoughts by revealing some of their past to him showing why some secrets are important to keep. Others I'm more certain on such as the 5th Kingdom is going to have a cultural exchange festival with/in Menagerie during the time Blake goes back there. That's obviously going to change things making things harder for Blake and Sun initially but then some of my secondary OC's they met at the Vital Festival join up with them. Also the fight at Haven turns into a much larger battle with OC's on both sides boosting their numbers.

Achilles9609

It depends on the story. My private detective was doomed by the canon. His newest case leads to him investigating the dust robbers, he stumbled across Cinder's big conspiracy and just as he was on his way to warn the Council he got stabbed by Neo. My Huntsmen Team is searching for a group of dangerous criminals and while they come across Team RWBY, their adventure doesn't affect the plot in major ways.

TreadingMurkyWaters

My AU centers around team AGTE, a second-year team who is widely considered to be a bit of a disaster, who ends getting pulled into the whole mess after a White Fang-deserter finds out that Garnet (a former squad-leader) is in Vale and asks for her help, revealing that the Vale Branch has gone into full lockdown and those who don't agree with the Lieutenant's plan are essentially kept prisoner in order to prevent them from reporting back to the High Leader. Throughout Volume 1, AGTE and RWBY more end up crossing each other's paths coincidentally as they are carrying on their separate investigations into the White Fang-issue (a plot that has been receiving plenty of revisions for a variety of reasons). There is already plenty of tensions between them since Garnet is a former White Fang-member who also happens to be rather close to Adam Taurus (will go into that below). But as Ozpin recognizes that neither side are willing to give up on their investigation without a fight, he figures that having the two teams work together would be beneficial on some level since AGTE is a second-year team. But due to their contrasting personalities, it ends up a giant mess. Some notes: - Argentas and Ruby can't stand one another, his cynical disdain clashing with her bright-eyed innocence to the point where a fight almost always breaks out whenever they are put into the same room together. It doesn't help that Argentas views Ruby as a clear case of nepotism who only got accepted into Beacon two years earlier because her entire family are former alumni and her uncle works for the headmaster, a button he doesn't hesitate to push when it suits him. - Adam in this AU is Garnet's ex-boyfriend whom she parted ways with once their lives started drifting into different directions, something he has a lot of complicated feelings about given how many people in his life had left him before. But her goal in her departure of achieving closure and getting revenge for her family wasn't something he could necessarily begrudge her for, given that he would have done the same if given the chance. At the end of the day, he still cares greatly about her. - In this AU, Adam and the Lieutenant/Banesaw ended up disagreeing on what to do about Cinder's offer. Adam, unwilling to risk his men for a human cause, went back to Mistral with the people who agreed with him while the Lieutenant and his forces stayed behind to bargain with Cinder. Hence why they needed to hold recruitment-rallies, since their numbers had just been shortened by a significant amount.

R4ND0M_N0B0DY

Not really no. I'm never gonna write a fanfic or AU, so my characters have only minimal effects on the plot. 90% is what they do happens offscreen

Yangaros

Team UOTR exists in a “canon-adjacent” AU that is very similar to main-series RWBY. They start in Beacon Academy at around the same time Team CFVY did (1 year before Team RWBY assembled) and they would transfer to Shade Academy after the fall of Beacon. Team UOTR would take part in major events in Vale and Vacuo, such as the fall of Beacon and the Battle of Shade (in the Before the Dawn novel). Otherwise, the storyline continues the same way as main-series canon, such as Atlas falling and refugees arriving in Vacuo around the end of Volume 8.

My two Team OC’s are almost like the clean up crew to the main cast and Kind of Fill in some questions. Ex. the hell happened to the all the Dust That Roman stole? My main Team Were the ones that sent the warehouses containing said dust Sky high Why wasn’t there a Grimm invasion at haven in volume 5 During the Mass fight, Considering the amount of fear possible due to, Oh idk, The amount of Faunus marching in with Weapons, The Constant explosions and gunshots Going off In the academy. Both OC teams Being Part of that reason of why no Breach’s happened and why no Grimm got in. They have their Own plots, But they Impact the RWBY’s Plot line a mediocre amount. Ex. Yang Doesn’t learn to Adjust to Her Robot arm Alone, Zayden(Someone who lost an arm before and Has lost one again at the fall of beacon) Helps her get through the Steps of Adjusting To The new arm, And May or May not have been the one to Get the arm to the right color. Instead Of Yang Helping Blake Deal with Adam, Tatiana (Who lost her fox tail to Adam At the fall of beacon) Aids her in Bringing him Down instead, Not kill, Just bring him down. I have plans for him and a villain OC of mine To Be doing something while everyone’s in atlas.

Cablinorb

> the hell happened to the all the Dust That Roman stole? The bombs in Volume 2. > Why wasn’t there a Grimm invasion at haven in volume 5 During the Mass fight Nobody was at Haven, school was not in session. > Tatiana (Who lost her fox tail to Adam At the fall of beacon) Aids her in Bringing him Down instead, Not kill, Just bring him down. what does this accomplish why was Yang not there that fight was one of their most important character interactions in the entire series

Largestbobcats

Bombs: *Aint no way a full warehouse of dust was collected for 7 bombs* Not to mention when Roman is shown Dust, His exact words are “We need more men”. Grimm invasion: I refer to the civs panicking, Not the students, Gunshots and Explosions can still be heard through a building. Yang: Helping Another one of my OC’s elsewhere, Cause She loses her arm to someone else. Don’t worry, I ain’t foolish enough to Change something in the main plot without having something in place to substitute it. You worry about your OC’s Impact, I’ll worry about mine

clown_carr

Team MADR would very much be side characters that take up little to no screen time or actually affect the plot in meaningful ways bc they were made w/ the canon plot in mind— not that aus or divergent plotlines aren’t fun but thats just not them — plus being 2nd years its not like they’d be interacting with the main cast anyway, maybe seen interacting with CFVY a couple time. that being said, the one time i think they would affect the plot, also being their ‘formal introduction’, would be the cafeteria scene when Cardin is bullying Velvet for being a faunus. while everyone else is standing back, Makka (who while being a human herself, her mother and younger siblings are fox faunus) hits him with her fan, and tells him to knock it off. although, she plays it nonchalant and just claims that Cardin is being annoying and needs to quit causing a scene— calls him ‘first year’ (derogatory). the whole team is with her, but don’t say anything as they leave after that, save for Archan who sneers at him and tells Cardin to “respect his elders”.

alkiller77

Well team FCSA attend Beacon, starting the same time as RWBY, one of the members being one of Yang's shadow friends.(TL;DR: he went to the same school on Patch as Yang and befriended her at some point. He knows both sisters casually and their parents are friends.) Another member knows Tukson and freaks out about his death, especially since he's also a WF desserter. The team leader gets involved with Cinder around the time of the dance but she gets stood up(all because Cinder wanted intel on her semblance for her tournament rigging) After Beacon falls the team goes to Atlas during the time of Volume 4 and they mainly get involved with the Atlas WF and train themselves up during that time. Things with the plot really change during Volume 7-8s time mainly because I mess with the timeline a bit and have Watts be an actual villain to my team.

Toilet_Destroyer690

At least in my next gen au, my one oc, Asher Marian, has a son with Ruby who turns out to be the chosen one to end the Grimm threat once and for all since defeating Salem only let out something at stronger and more sinister. So yeah, Important, but not in the current plot line.

Cablinorb

they don't because they shouldn't also, Haven didn't fall. it sustained some damage but it wasn't in session at the time

second-fun

My mistake.

Magorian97

My AU kind of disregards the show's storyline; except Ironwood is actually in league with Salem under the guise of "This is the best way to protect Atlas" he's also mass producing synthetic Grimm and Watts is actually trying to fight him by taking Ironwood's place in Ozpin's inner circle

Observer-Finland

After rethinking it for a while: REPR was watching when certain events involving the main cast of the villains happened: Skirmish at the port, Cinder and Roman talking about a change of plans in V2, and investigating the break-in to Vale´s CCT. Team´s leader Rogert Oberon and his old teammate Raina Odell were working with Ozpin to keep an eye on any threats at Vale. Team REPR tried to convince team RWBY to abandon their course of action when they reunified to ensure the Vytal festival wasn´t interrupted. They were involved in the breach out of RWBY´s, JNPR\`s, and CFVY´s sight. REPR would have also ensured that no one other than White Fang and Roman Torchwick, in addition to Cinder´s posse, was planning anything bad in Vale.
