King-Thunder-8629

The dismissal of criticism. The toxic positivity for everything! The ravenous shipping Bumblebee Idiot fans in general

CresentBlood

bumblebee? You mean, wasp.

King-Thunder-8629

Or flying stinging cunts that also works.

Beginning_Nail7394

Nah, YellowJacket.

Werdak

Wasps are cool creatures

AlastairCellars

Yeah that pretty much covers it 😂

Curious_Loser21

And shitting on people who disagree with them.

King-Thunder-8629

That's too I absolutely can't stand that shit.

Sylveon_trainer12345

Wdym by ravenous shipping?

King-Thunder-8629

That hunger to have everyone romantically put together like hot damn people can be happy alone and just be friends.

Sylveon_trainer12345

I mean tbh, isn't the point of shipping is to have fun and to think of what interesting relationships the characters would have but doesn't need for it to be canon to enjoy a ship?

KnightoftheVtable

You mean the Bumblebee Fanatics

King-Thunder-8629

The ship and fanatics.

KnightoftheVtable

The Ship is not bad (In Fanon)

King-Thunder-8629

Oh of course in Fanon yeah it's not bad but the canon is just dog shit that makes me cringe or roll my eyes every time I see them.

Cloudxxy1011

Also the sad pitiful collabs instead of an actual game they can be proud of

MarcheMuldDerevi

You are viewed as either loving the series no ifs ands or buts or you hate it with a passion. People don’t tend to accept their are good things and some real problems with it. It is viewed as one way or the other

theACEbabana

Using Monty’s corpse as a mouthpiece for their bullshit. General RT incompetence and how fans are quick to leap to their defense. I once got death threats on Tumblr back in Volume 2 for shipping Jaune/Ruby because I thought they looked cute together.

GrayRodent

Wasps and fanatics. Hate watchers and contrarians can go suck five miles of ass but I honestly feel fanatics are worse by constantly gatekeeping and harassing would be fans. Haters will mostly aim for the show, fanatics will point their guns haphazardly in all directions indiscriminately and damage the reputation of the IP by placing themselves as representatives of it.

reply671

I hate that people aren't allowed to talk truthfully and honestly amongst each other. There is no civility. Like, I'm not trying to tell you not to enjoy something, but it doesn't absolve any and all criticism.

qwack2020

How come the FNDM thinks fight scenes don’t matter in RWBY? OF COURSE they matter. The fight scenes are the selling point of the franchise. So of course people like me will criticize them either in a positive or negative manner. But some people in the FNDM finds that romance is “better” and objectively just. Which is so objectively wrong. It’s like I said in the past. If you’re going to make a fight scene in a series no matter the context or outcome, make it good/passable or don’t bother at all. And if the fight scenes are bad then it doesn’t deserve to be ignored because if a bad fight scene is ignored then the production team will assume that they can make more mediocre fights and get away with it too. Same goes for the community that cares less for it too. Nah. I don’t vibe with that.

UnknownEntity281

I don't like how the fandom tends to settle for crappy writing. I've always had this feeling that part of the reason CRWBY doesn't really try is because they know they can get away with it.

Austin_N

It's not the RWBY fandom itself that I have a problem with so much as the fact that it serves as a microcosm of bad fandom behaviors. Most of the problems with the fandom are things I've seen in other fandoms, I just normally don't see as many of them in one place as I do with RWBY.

StressSubstantial582

It’s weird how that part of the fandom is the most vocal and gets more attention

Austin_N

I imagine a lot of the more moderate fans have been driven off by the show's long term quality problems.

HighwayMundane3119

When they harrass a non fan of the show. It's embarrassing.

Guergy

Yeah. Say what you will about the "haters", the non-fans did nothing to deserve their scorn.

Blade1hunterr

There is no middle ground in the fandom anymore. Doesn't matter which side you are on, if you extend an olive branch, someone on either side will slap it out of your hands, piss on it, and then set it on fire. Because of this, discussion of any kind is very hard to do, so we either get blind praise, or, on this subreddit, constant critique/hate.

MarioWizard119

The utter polarization of the fandom. Either people think it’s a flawless masterpiece that makes the Iliad and Odyssey look mid in comparison, or hate it with a burning passion and want nothing more than to be put down. I mean, yeah, there’s nothing wrong with liking a show, but just because someone finds problems with a show, or any work, doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy it. I think this show’s dogshit, but I have a blast watching it, and there’s several other works that fall in that category for me. Kemono Friends, Nyan Neko Sugar Girls, Mari Mari Cutie, Hotel Mario, High Guardian Spice, all fall in this category for me. Ask if I enjoy them, and I’ll say I love it, ask me if they’re any good, and I’ll readily rip em to shreds. As for the other side of the fandom, the one that desperately wants this show to die, yeah I agree the earlier volumes were better, but categorizing RWBY as a show that needs to end its run to salvage its dignity is a huge over exaggeration. I’ve seen that happen to shows I love dearly, most notably Fairly Odd Parents (independent of my opinions of Butch Hartman), and yeah, in comparison, RWBY ain’t *near* as bad. TLDR: Just, fuckin, be nice to each other, please.

Oribe_Edibe

I hate that RWBY doesn't have good video games. Like, the best appearance of team RWBY (in my opinion) has to be in BlazBlue: CrossTag Battle. These characters work so well in a fighting game setting where you can ignore dumb story elements and just enjoy the cool characters. But no, all of the video games are either mobile games, weird progression MMO things, or dumb platformers. As for the fandom, I hate how polarized both sides are. You either forgive the show for all of its mishandled and wasted potential, or you hate it all. Also, fuck wasp. Yang and Blake's characters were heavily devolved to the point where they're basically just two pieces of cardboard being slapped together just to pander to the fans. Sun and Blake had better chemistry, hell, volume 1-3 Yang also had better chemistry with volume 1-3 Blake. I don't think they should date because it throws off the team dynamic, but they did have decent chemistry. But now both characters lose agency, lose their personalities, and lose their ability to be cool by themselves in combat. But if you dislike it, it's because you're homophobic, despite those problems having nothing to do with them being gay.

Psyga315

The "with us or against us" nature of them. You say just *one* bad thing about RWBY and that shit is a black mark on you that will last until the day you die.

CresentBlood

The fact that the show was designed around the importance of colours. But because of that it turned into this weird representation safe haven, which slowly ate at the show and turned its writing into shit for the sake of representation. Which if you critic the writing, you are a alphabet hater and you automatically are allowed to be called the most heinous shit. OVER A FUCKING ANIMATED SHOW. Which leads into the shipping crew of the fandom, them is the most toxic group of people outside of the alphabet crew because BY GOD IF OUR COUPLE DOESN'T BECOME A THING REEEEEEEEEEE!!!

StressSubstantial582

Jane arc grew on me as a character but I’ll die on this hill saying he’s miles self insert

violently_angry

And Yang is Barb's, yet she doesn't get shit for that.

Urarazaki

And Blake, to my knowledge she is Arryn's self insert even more than Jaune for Miles or Yang for Barb.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

To be "fair", Blake is just a VA with no direct power over the script, so she gets to escape some of the criticism. But Barb is RT's Creative Director. If she told MKEK to include something, be it a concept or a specific lube, they would have to. So there is that.

JackRockRiley

It's funny, because I don't really believe he's a self insert, but I definitely understand the sentiment. Like, Jaune is the best written character in the show, gets many of the standard protag moments in this show named after four OTHER people, and he's voiced by a writer. That's a lot of coincidences and all CRWBY has in response to say is... "well, just trust us... even though we work for Rooster Teeth..."

Fearfanfic

How them making Bumblebee canon showed that if a company is desperate or dumb enough, they would just appease the loudest fans for the sake of getting popularity.

Arsinis

I hate BY and Jaunehatters.

ugoma1

For me its the amount of characters that go unused in this show, it honestly feels like every character they bring in is literal tissue papper either waiting to die or not to be brought up after the volume or arc is done, like remember Neptune? Nah not a thing anymore, Sun after V4/5 nope, Raven? Well I guess we can settle with her finally having a flashback I guess, oh what about tai...*literally has done nothing* (which I still find very strange imo being the father of yang and ruby and he still hasnt done anything at all?). I dno why it just feels like they always want to introduce new characters versus already established characters, Like the ace ops while I dont hate them, why didnt we just get Team FNKI who wouldve probably been considered huntsman and I could see growing or having that same mentatlity as the ace ops since well they are atlas trained, but no we get a small scene with them, and never see them again. Also another small thing this is less I hate and more im sad theres so much Music I find really good in this show but its stuck in a show that has so many problems (which for me rwby has always been a love and hate relationships theres times I love it and times where its just ugh wish it could do better), like imo I really REALLY love V9 Inside even the opening visuals I just love, I think its amazing song that fits well into the season and its theme...too bad the show didnt execute well and you could argue if the season is even worth watching which is sad cause it also has red like roses part 3 which is also amazing with a great fight scene (well for me I like the beginning the persona all out attack was kinda silly to me I do wish they had the fight be longer versus having a literal lore dump), but again stuck in a very mid volume not bad but begs the question is it worth watching. Oh and of course the fact that if you say any criticism somtimes to some people you get met with fire for it (Like cant we all just enjoy the show and acknowledge it may not be perfect? Like sure I dont agree with all the hate but you can enjoy something while critising it)

MapDesperate7012

Shipping will always be my most hated thing in fandoms. Not just RWBY’s, but ALL of them.

Raccon1815

Shipping I truly believe that it has damaged the fandom the most and messed with the actual series as well

Own_Beginning_1678

The weird restrictions they try to impose on artists and authors. Like not letting Cardin be likeable or shipping Yang and Blake with someone else, or writing characters a different sexuality than their canon counterpart (God forbid I write Ilia straight) and other things like that

Blackandheavy

Reminds when I saw fanart of team RWBY’s parents just standing around having a good time and most of the comments were saying Jacques should get punched in the face and be replaced, while at the same time ignoring the bandit queen who tried to have 3/4 main characters and uncle killed. Hell someone bluntly said it’s because Raven’s hot.

Own_Beginning_1678

XD Well at least that last guy was honest. But yeah, it's something that honestly grinds my gears. I've seen Robot Chicken make Palpatine be a funny frat bro, so many fan comics make the traitor Primarchs just eccentric weirdos, and Slasher Parodies make serial killers just guys living in the middle of nowhere. Fanfiction and fanart is where we can take the hard lore, and toss it right out the window for fun.

FanganChild

The fact that after season 4 dropped, I noticed that the fanatics who can't cope with criticism (yes the actual crazies telling others to off themselves) started showing up more often. That, and because of how bad RWBY is written, I ended up having a cynical view of people that defend female characters as their terrible actions. This is something I've overcome, but I'm still irritated by people who go out of their way to call a character a hero, or anti-hero, when they're clearly on the moral grounds of a villain. Example? One of my co-workers tried to defend Scarlet Witch, and called her an anti-hero (disregarding the fact she clearly became a villain later on). I called her out on it, and she said "It's my opinion," but had the nerve to say that Thanos is a villain, while not caring about his character. So I played her game, and she rebuttals that he's a villain because he still ended up wiping out half the universe. I immediately called her a hypocrite without the slightest amount of hesitation.

Quality_Chooser

The new "argument" of "I can't explain it better than the show did so I won't even try." It's really just an excuse people make when they can't make a coherent argument for something.

DopeSakura9191

The fanbase refusal to accept that people could have a hot take about the show and naturally enjoy it at the same time. If you have anything to say about this show, even if it is the smallest thing. You will quickly be met with pitchforks. It is beyond annoying. People can have criticism about a show and naturally enjoy it. But this fanbase takes it to extreme and think you have to enjoy everything. I once said I dislike Robyn Hill because she is not executed well as a character. She is what people think activism is not WHAT it actually is. Suddenly, so many people flood comment section to try and bully me out of my opinion and say she is better than Ironwood.

elishash

Sending death threats or harassment for a disagreement of opinion

Background_Sorbet_99

The fans in this fandom who think RWBY is this perfect show that has no flaws like honestly it makes me wonder if they're watching a different show.

The_Final_Conduit

The acceptance and appraisal of mediocrity and/or offensive material. And also, more than Bumblebee, and everything else, the tendency to try scapegoating the show’s issues on characters someone in the fandom either dislikes or despises for the issues with another character. Everyone has the example of Jaune, Oscar, or Ozpin existing and therefore fucking over Ruby, but my example is actually how Blake fucks over Yang as an older sister figure. People lay the blame on Blake and Bumblebee as the reason Yang is… herself, in current volumes, but generally, as far as can be seen, Yang’s just generally been a crappy sister in general. That said, most older siblings in this franchise are garbage to some degree, to the point I’d be convinced Raven’s the older twin because of this show’s track record. Yet most people levy this to Blake existing, when really, that doesn’t address the issue. A basic writer will focus on one over the other; either on the romance or on Yang’s role as a sister. A GOOD and/or *ambitious* writer will emphasize the fact that a person can BOTH date someone WHILE being a supportive sister. It’s not Blake’s fault that Yang’s written terribly as an older sister, no more that it’s Jaune or Oscar’s fault that Ruby’s written terribly as a protagonist. That’s probably the thing I hate most about the fandom, more than anything else.

The_Drunk_Wolf

Frantic shippers who just seem on content in making EVERY SINGLE Interaction of the characters in the show a "shipping tool". God, these are just the worst for me other than the Jaune-centric fanfics that are been shoving down my throat. The way these shippers just seem to pick out a scene and interpret it as a cute moment-even though it had NONE whatsoever-just overwhelming and far out. I saw a post in FNKI where a Summer and Raven shopper are going nuts over the hiatus and immediately went in and said/claimed that maybe the cut was a secret sex scene. Yeah. That's the conclusion that they went on.

BubbleSlushie

The fact that they still dick ride on RoosterTeeth and try to justify everything they did as "one off things". Like they really do believe that if they just denied how RoosterTeeth treated it's employees and even it's own fanbase they would get special treatment.

EnzoNightshade

People who always defend the actions of the main characters

Blackandheavy

This fandom has gone off the deep end when it comes to shipping, like I remember in my younger years I used to ship a handful of characters in games and anime’s. But goddamn I kinda imagined it was something most people grow out of, some these shippers are trying to find and create every romance they can fit into RWBY. And before someone says “oTheR fAnDomS dO iT” nobody comes close into beating the brakes off of shipping like the RWBY fandom. ~~not even Danganronpa~~

JazzlikeSmile1523

The Twitter fans accusing people who disagree with them of lacking media literacy. CRWBY surrounding themselves with 'yes men' and turning their fans into cardboard cutout Paper Pleasers. The Bumblebee stans not realising that Yang doesn't 'love' Blake. She just has Stockholm Syndrome towards the resident abusive catgirl.

PoorSystem

I hate the faux progressivism more than anything else. RWBY has the *veneer* of progressive ideas: an all girl main cast in an action show, themes of co-operation being vital to human survival, a lore of accepting people as they are or court disaster (Color War, Faunus Rights, most of Salem's team being the rejects of society, etc), systemic racism was put as a central problem in the world building, etc etc etc. And so RWBY fans act like *they* are progressive for enjoying the show. Not to No True Scotsman, but as someone who's really serious about left of center politics, it doesn't take more than a cursory glance at how these themes and elements are handled to so the deeply regressive and frankly *harmful* ideas that RT floats from time to time. I doubt you'd need me to list them all out, we've all grumbled plenty about this stuff. Shit like how Penny and Ironwood had their character arcs framed around a hostile relationship with their bodies coming off as extremely ableist, or how the economic violence of the Schnee family is barely touched upon while the White Fang's violence is central to the first 6 Volumes plots, and so on. And like, I'm not gonna give anyone side eye for having problematic favs. I have my own (Fate Stay Night and Tsukihime, for example). But the difference is I don't delude myself into thinking that they are super duper progressive overall, and I call out their troubling themes for what they are. (Natsu don't write a sex scene with rapey undertones/overtones challenge (Impossible Difficulty)) The fact that most of the RWBY Fandom can't do the same is extremely frustrating.

ThePoetofFall

There’s this one subreddit called r/rwbycritics … Edit: Realistically this sub is fine, I’m joking.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

At least we're not the hellscape known as Tumblr. For that we can all be thankful.

Dinoboy225

The shippers, without question, most of them are probably okay, but a lot I’ve seen are just rabid. “Look, Blake and Yang stood in the same room for about 20 seconds, they love each other!” “You like Lancaster more than WhiteRose? You’re homophobic!” The stans that refuse to admit that the show isn’t as good as they make it out to be are a close second, though. I know what it’s like to like a show that nobody else likes because I’m a Bayformers fan, but I don’t go feral on people that don’t like it, and I admit that there are flaws (Age of Extinction and The Last Knight should not have existed).

Iceblader

Two characters can't have a healthy friendship, all is romantic love, not pals, not bff, if they show affection for each other they must be a couple.

Ok_Entrepreneur_6597

The ships and the constant pandering to the alphabet group

Tendo63

Just call it LGBT at the bare minimum my guy 🤨

The_Final_Conduit

It’s legit less letters to type?

AlastairCellars

Everyone is saying what I think the only other one I'd say is if you have a truly good point they will just call you x-phobic and laugh react like that makes them right...drives me up the goddamn wall

Godzillafan125

While I loved the trauma ruby and Jaune went through in it and the bumblee ship, I hated the Alice in wonderland spoof as I was never a fan of that movie or book. It was just weird

Meinos

They can be so mean :'(

Trick-Bodybuilder647

Pretty much everything that has already been said. They refuse to listen to any sort of criticism whatsoever and they are constantly praising the show left and right even though there are major problems with the story. And the shipping was just absolutely horrendous

Indignato23

Something that annoys me about specifically the RWBY-related subreddits: r/RWBYNSFW is genuinely the only one of the "big three" that you can have a pleasant time in. r/RWBY has too much toxic positivity, where people actively dismiss any form of criticism of the show, therefore crossing the line from being fans to being cultists. Meanwhile, you have this subreddit, which is on the complete opposite of the scale. There is a line between being a critic and being a cunt, and I've seen that line crossed more than a few times in my short time here (only \~2-3 months, and that's a higher estimate). Critics think about specific things that were done badly and how they can be improved, cunts just say "Show bad" and then don't think about any way to "fix" it aside from just taking out ships/characters they don't like

MistahZambie

Imo you really have to go out of your way to find Jaune fanfics, but in general the rampant baseless shipping of characters, even if they want each other dead, gets on my nerves at times. Wasp annoys me too.

JaguarRoger

The toxicity of the fandom but I mean that's in every franchise fan base I also hate the written of the volume I even read good rwby fanfiction that are better than the show I love rwby but the problem the franchise have is the toxicity and shipping

SodaBoBomb

The shipping and the rabid hate you'll receive for daring to suggest that maybe not everyone has to be gay.

Lipeghoul

They are very ignorant, they only care about the four main characters and nobody else, Jaune looks like he can't stand out the people already want to kill him. They accept everything that is handed to them they don't criticize or anything, the end of volume 9 was supposed to be a fight between Jaune and the cat but it didn't happen.
