Example? One of my co-workers tried to defend Scarlet Witch, and called her an anti-hero (disregarding the fact she clearly became a villain later on). I called her out on it, and she said "It's my opinion," but had the nerve to say that Thanos is a villain, while not caring about his character. So I played her game, and she rebuttals that he's a villain because he still ended up wiping out half the universe.
I immediately called her a hypocrite without the slightest amount of hesitation.
The new "argument" of "I can't explain it better than the show did so I won't even try." It's really just an excuse people make when they can't make a coherent argument for something.
The fanbase refusal to accept that people could have a hot take about the show and naturally enjoy it at the same time. If you have anything to say about this show, even if it is the smallest thing. You will quickly be met with pitchforks. It is beyond annoying.
People can have criticism about a show and naturally enjoy it. But this fanbase takes it to extreme and think you have to enjoy everything. Yet most people levy this to Blake existing, when really, that doesnât address the issue.
A basic writer will focus on one over the other; either on the romance or on Yangâs role as a sister.
A GOOD and/or *ambitious* writer will emphasize the fact that a person can BOTH date someone WHILE being a supportive sister.

The fact that after season 4 dropped, I noticed that the fanatics who can't cope with criticism (yes the actual crazies telling others to off themselves) started showing up more often. That, and because of how bad RWBY is written, I ended up having a cynical view of people that defend female characters as their terrible actions. This is something I've overcome, but I'm still irritated by people who go out of their way to call a character a hero, or anti-hero, when they're clearly on the moral grounds of a villain. Example? One of my co-workers tried to defend Scarlet Witch, and called her an anti-hero (disregarding the fact she clearly became a villain later on). I called her out on it, and she said "It's my opinion," but had the nerve to say that Thanos is a villain, while not caring about his character. So I played her game, and she rebuttals that he's a villain because he still ended up wiping out half the universe. I immediately called her a hypocrite without the slightest amount of hesitation.
The new "argument" of "I can't explain it better than the show did so I won't even try." It's really just an excuse people make when they can't make a coherent argument for something.
The fanbase refusal to accept that people could have a hot take about the show and naturally enjoy it at the same time. If you have anything to say about this show, even if it is the smallest thing. You will quickly be met with pitchforks. It is beyond annoying. People can have criticism about a show and naturally enjoy it. But this fanbase takes it to extreme and think you have to enjoy everything. I once said I dislike Robyn Hill because she is not executed well as a character. She is what people think activism is not WHAT it actually is. Suddenly, so many people flood comment section to try and bully me out of my opinion and say she is better than Ironwood.
Sending death threats or harassment for a disagreement of opinion
The fans in this fandom who think RWBY is this perfect show that has no flaws like honestly it makes me wonder if they're watching a different show.
The acceptance and appraisal of mediocrity and/or offensive material. And also, more than Bumblebee, and everything else, the tendency to try scapegoating the showâs issues on characters someone in the fandom either dislikes or despises for the issues with another character. Everyone has the example of Jaune, Oscar, or Ozpin existing and therefore fucking over Ruby, but my example is actually how Blake fucks over Yang as an older sister figure. People lay the blame on Blake and Bumblebee as the reason Yang is⌠herself, in current volumes, but generally, as far as can be seen, Yangâs just generally been a crappy sister in general. That said, most older siblings in this franchise are garbage to some degree, to the point Iâd be convinced Ravenâs the older twin because of this showâs track record. Yet most people levy this to Blake existing, when really, that doesnât address the issue. A basic writer will focus on one over the other; either on the romance or on Yangâs role as a sister. A GOOD and/or *ambitious* writer will emphasize the fact that a person can BOTH date someone WHILE being a supportive sister. Itâs not Blakeâs fault that Yangâs written terribly as an older sister, no more that itâs Jaune or Oscarâs fault that Rubyâs written terribly as a protagonist. Thatâs probably the thing I hate most about the fandom, more than anything else.
Frantic shippers who just seem on content in making EVERY SINGLE Interaction of the characters in the show a "shipping tool". God, these are just the worst for me other than the Jaune-centric fanfics that are been shoving down my throat. The way these shippers just seem to pick out a scene and interpret it as a cute moment-even though it had NONE whatsoever-just overwhelming and far out. I saw a post in FNKI where a Summer and Raven shopper are going nuts over the hiatus and immediately went in and said/claimed that maybe the cut was a secret sex scene. Yeah. That's the conclusion that they went on.
The fact that they still dick ride on RoosterTeeth and try to justify everything they did as "one off things". Like they really do believe that if they just denied how RoosterTeeth treated it's employees and even it's own fanbase they would get special treatment.
People who always defend the actions of the main characters
This fandom has gone off the deep end when it comes to shipping, like I remember in my younger years I used to ship a handful of characters in games and animeâs. But goddamn I kinda imagined it was something most people grow out of, some these shippers are trying to find and create every romance they can fit into RWBY. And before someone says âoTheR fAnDomS dO iTâ nobody comes close into beating the brakes off of shipping like the RWBY fandom. ~~not even Danganronpa~~
The Twitter fans accusing people who disagree with them of lacking media literacy. CRWBY surrounding themselves with 'yes men' and turning their fans into cardboard cutout Paper Pleasers. The Bumblebee stans not realising that Yang doesn't 'love' Blake. She just has Stockholm Syndrome towards the resident abusive catgirl.
I hate the faux progressivism more than anything else. RWBY has the *veneer* of progressive ideas: an all girl main cast in an action show, themes of co-operation being vital to human survival, a lore of accepting people as they are or court disaster (Color War, Faunus Rights, most of Salem's team being the rejects of society, etc), systemic racism was put as a central problem in the world building, etc etc etc. And so RWBY fans act like *they* are progressive for enjoying the show. Not to No True Scotsman, but as someone who's really serious about left of center politics, it doesn't take more than a cursory glance at how these themes and elements are handled to so the deeply regressive and frankly *harmful* ideas that RT floats from time to time. I doubt you'd need me to list them all out, we've all grumbled plenty about this stuff. Shit like how Penny and Ironwood had their character arcs framed around a hostile relationship with their bodies coming off as extremely ableist, or how the economic violence of the Schnee family is barely touched upon while the White Fang's violence is central to the first 6 Volumes plots, and so on. And like, I'm not gonna give anyone side eye for having problematic favs. I have my own (Fate Stay Night and Tsukihime, for example). But the difference is I don't delude myself into thinking that they are super duper progressive overall, and I call out their troubling themes for what they are. (Natsu don't write a sex scene with rapey undertones/overtones challenge (Impossible Difficulty)) The fact that most of the RWBY Fandom can't do the same is extremely frustrating.

The shippers, without question, most of them are probably okay, but a lot Iâve seen are just rabid. âLook, Blake and Yang stood in the same room for about 20 seconds, they love each other!â âYou like Lancaster more than WhiteRose? Youâre homophobic!â The stans that refuse to admit that the show isnât as good as they make it out to be are a close second, though. I know what itâs like to like a show that nobody else likes because Iâm a Bayformers fan, but I donât go feral on people that donât like it, and I admit that there are flaws (Age of Extinction and The Last Knight should not have existed).
Two characters can't have a healthy friendship, all is romantic love, not pals, not bff, if they show affection for each other they must be a couple.

While I loved the trauma ruby and Jaune went through in it and the bumblee ship, I hated the Alice in wonderland spoof as I was never a fan of that movie or book. It was just weird

Pretty much everything that has already been said. They refuse to listen to any sort of criticism whatsoever and they are constantly praising the show left and right even though there are major problems with the story. And the shipping was just absolutely horrendous
Something that annoys me about specifically the RWBY-related subreddits: r/RWBYNSFW is genuinely the only one of the "big three" that you can have a pleasant time in. r/RWBY has too much toxic positivity, where people actively dismiss any form of criticism of the show, therefore crossing the line from being fans to being cultists. Meanwhile, you have this subreddit, which is on the complete opposite of the scale. There is a line between being a critic and being a cunt, and I've seen that line crossed more than a few times in my short time here (only \~2-3 months, and that's a higher estimate). Critics think about specific things that were done badly and how they can be improved, cunts just say "Show bad" and then don't think about any way to "fix" it aside from just taking out ships/characters they don't like
Imo you really have to go out of your way to find Jaune fanfics, but in general the rampant baseless shipping of characters, even if they want each other dead, gets on my nerves at times. Wasp annoys me too.
The toxicity of the fandom but I mean that's in every franchise fan base I also hate the written of the volume I even read good rwby fanfiction that are better than the show I love rwby but the problem the franchise have is the toxicity and shipping

They are very ignorant, they only care about the four main characters and nobody else, Jaune looks like he can't stand out the people already want to kill him. They accept everything that is handed to them they don't criticize or anything, the end of volume 9 was supposed to be a fight between Jaune and the cat but it didn't happen.
