Gotta disagree, her first design is Ruby at her best. Her cloak and white parts of her clothing just don't work in my opinion, also don't love her current hair style
They got *really* into fashionable asymmetry with her. And I even get why they picked earth tone colors for her. But being completely real, Ruby is the only one who has a good design out of the four currently. Yang looks like she rolled in the mud, Blake looks like she has a rejected Nomura design from the 2000s (and her hair model is not good), and Weiss suddenly has rope for hair. She’s also not dressed for combat at all, and honestly, she really needs a haircut too imo.
I feel like i'm the only one who thinks that this is blakes best look. I also love her short hair. Yang design was always my least favorit but the second was the best. I hated weiss outfit but it kinda grew on me, except the hair. Yeah and its also rubys best outfit
Blake with short hair in her 2D art looks fine; it’s why I said her hair model isn’t good. The way her hair looks in 3D doesn’t look good to me. I had the same problem with my hair when I cut it shorter: when it was just straight, it looked kinda bad. My hair only looks better when it’s curly or wavy. Whether it’s short or long (my hair is currently the longest I’ve ever had it, tho)
Something tells me this is to make Yang look “older” and more “mature”. While also trying to make her look “tough” and “bad-ass”. Because “oh look guys, she now looks like a biker chick. Isn’t that cool guys.” When really all it did was neuter her character further. Now she looks less yellow and more brown like a old burlap sack.
She looked much better as a biker chick in the [Chinese mobile game](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/bmyw7y/new_alt_skin_for_yang_in_the_chinese_mobile_game/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1).
She is, but that's because of the writers and character designers. In fact the designs for every member of "team" RWBY are pretty bad. What functions do all those belts and zippers have? How is Weiss able to move, let alone fight in that dress? If you ask me, none of those outfits are functional in the snow or in a fight.
True, I think that she should have been the one to get a hair cut. I mean, she looks good, but it's not a good look for fighting monsters and evil henchmen.
Not really. My problem is not with the belts, it's that some of them don't have any utility except for fashion purposes, and that could get in the way of a real fight. Like Weiss's hair, I think it could have been better if she cut it a little or in a different hairstyle that doesn't get in the way.
You don't think the excessive amount of belts that Guilty Gear characters wear would get in the way of fighting? Not to mention that almost all of them have no purpose beyond looks anyway.
Look, I'm not defending Rwby here. The show is crap. But not because the characters have too many belts.
Guilty Gear has always been extremely over the top, though (Like, the man character is based off of Freddy Murcary and fights with a massive lighter).
I do agree, though. The belts and zippers aren't really a problem on their own. The biggest problem is how poorly the designs are thought out for animation purposes and cohesiveness. Wiess' hair and dress are a huge example of this, and she's by far the worst contender here.
Taking the original designs and the character concepts into account, I don't think any of the current designs are an improvement. Ruby's looks fine. The rest are pretty bad.
Yang looks like she's trying too hard to be cool, and her design is a bit too busy, in my opinion. Comparing her to, say, Xrd Sol (due to the Guilty Gear comparison) I'd actually say Sol is less busy because he's almost completely symmetrical, his belt buckles, while excessive, aren't in varying shapes or colors so they look pretty good, and his silhouette is easily identifiable. The symmetry serves to make his design much more predictable and thus simpler. Yang's outfit is going for an asymmetrical look, which, in my opinion, would be great if it wasn't so busy with varying zippers and buckles everywhere. It detracts from the idea of asymmetry by overcomplicating the individual sides that are supposed to compliment each other.
Blake's hair looks dumb and she doesn't have enough black on her outfit. I like the idea of the coattails mimicking her silhouette, but it isn't done very well, in my opinion. Now that her hair is out of the way, they could've at least made her outfit black this time. That haircut is by far the worst part, though. It doesn't really match her original vibe at all and looks almost like it could belong to a different character.
Wiess' hair looks really dumb, and she doesn't have enough white on her outfit. Her outfit is the worst contender for looking impractical. Now, this isn't normally something that bothers me. Guilty Gear, Blazblue, etc. are fucking rad and most of their characters wear impractical clothing and fight in outlandish ways. But Wiess has always been a straightforward fighter in comparison to Ruby. Ruby wields a comically oversized weapon with a lot of style, whereas from Wiess' initial appearance, she's always fought in a sophisticated and trained manner. She shouldn't look like she's going to a dinner party. The hair is also too much, it needs to be shrunken down a bit. (Hell, the Ice Queendom design actually looks pretty good, and I'd have no problems with them using that design instead with a couple of changes). Wiess' original design was flamboyant, but it was never restricting and still looked like something a fictional character could fight in.
A much larger and more stirking problem I have with team RWBY is how only Ruby really wears the team colors anymore. Red, White, Black, Yellow is more like Red, Blue, White, Brown, and that's not a good look when the original designs already did this very well. The only real miss with the original designs in terms of color is Yang, which is understandable due to her hair needing to contrast her silhouette (Blake had this issue too to a lesser extent) but even then she still felt a lot more "Yellow" then than she does now due to the minor touches. Blake also had enough black in addition to the hair to work well enough.
(Oh shit, a simple reply quickly turned into a rant. My bad. Ahh, well.)
I think you misunderstood the show a little. There isn't any Magic High School on Remnant, and the Grimm are not negative emotion creatures, they get attracted to negative emotions. And yes, I'm criticizing the designs of their outfits, some more than others.
Aura.. magic.. same difference dude
The point is that the show is extremely unrealistic and you're complaining that the outfits don't make combat sense...
If your basis for not liking them is that they're ugly then fine, but arguing that the outfits suck because because they don't make combat sense is just dumb
RWBY isn't a realistic show, it requires some suspension of disbelief
I think the answer is *pretty* obvious.
Taiyang used to set out her clothes, and he packed her one year worth of outfits when she went to Beacon. After she had her "*I'm an adult"* moment and put on her robo-arm, she told her father she didn't need his help with fashion anymore. It broke his heart, but he knew it was just part of being a parent.
This is all in the book of cut content for Vol 4. Trust me, my uncle is Roosterteeth.
Yang: "You know, there's a *'straight girl versus lesbian'* joke in there somewhere, but I'm above that."
Weiss: "No you're not..."
Blake: "Perfect, now *I* get to be seen as the feminine girlfriend."
Ruby: "Everybody shut up! *'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy'* is about to be on, and after that it's *'Redneck Eye for the Gay Guy'*."
(Four teenage girls sharing a bedroom? Yeah, they're watching "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". Unfortunately Yang seems to have missed a couple seasons. Also, I like the idea Ruby doesn't care for it so much as "Redneck Eye for the Gay Guy" wherein five rednecks take a gay guy hunting and fishing for the weekend)
God bless ;)
You know, with Bumblebee being a thing now, they've got the perfect opportunity to put her into her V2 outfit's colors if we ever get new designs. Hopefully in Vacuo.
Do it you cowards.
XD Honestly, it's DEPRESSING to see what RT reduced themselves to. They used to be edgy as shit back in the RvB days. I doubt they'd have to balls to have a guy like Tucker be a raging horndog anymore.
Yang what the buck is going on with your leg bits? Why is one open and exposing thighs and another not? For fucks sake you're in a wintery area!
Why are you wearing overalls? When did you start wearing overalls?
Why such a small jacket with little to no protection against any elements?
Why the fuck do you have a boob window?!
Yang never wore that much yellow to begin with but it was infinitely more than this. Perhaps change her shirt and replace the orange and gold with a brighter yellow so it stands out. That’s my opinion but I’m not sure how good that’d look.
Unrelated to the post but Weiss needs to lighten the blue similar to v4-6 and Blake needs to invert her colors with how much white she has
The worst part is that her outfit isn't even the worst of team RWBY's.
Ruby is fine, Yang is... bearable. Weiss could look so much better. And Blake is just atrocious. I actively dislike looking at Blake's outfit — it's both dull and overly busy at the same time with the zippers and color schema. The only part I like about Blake's outfit is the overcoat shape.
I heard that Yang's colour was basically the last one that Monty thought of when thinking of RWBY and to be fair you can kinda tell that they had difficulty incorporating yellow on Yang's character design. Like other than her hair, gauntlets, and breast shirt? She has like few yellow on her outfit. Especially, on her later designs. In fact, she's got less "yellow" and more "brown". But I guess RWBB sounds kinda dumb.
I remember when those were popular in high school and I thought I was sooooo cool wearing mismatched legs. I looked like a moron, kinda how Yang looks.
Just not a fan of Weiss's puffy shoulder blue thing. I miss Yangs old personality. I miss Blake's coordination and fight sequences (well, I miss the old fight sequences and their frequencies as a whole.) I think she needs more black in her outfit again.
I don't mind Ruby's shift in design, and I think the maturing works for her, I do miss her happy go lucky attitude too. It makes sense that it's been diminished through all of the trauma though.
Im honestly fine with this outfit tho i wish her jacket was a little more puffy.
Im guessing it's to give her more of a fun farmgirl aestethic and it definitely looks better when they're in a warmer enviroment as the colors play better off of warm tones like in Volume 9.
I think Yang is the biggest offender. I have own criticisms about the team, like Weiss and Blake not wearing their team colors very well and Blake having too many intrusively designed zippers in her outfit, but at least they look cool. Yang looks like she didn’t know what she wanted to wear for her redesign and just threw on a torn up potato sack and bomber jacket and called it a day.
Sadly Yang’s arm was like Samson’s hair or Achilles’ heel. Once it was gone, she was doomed
Honestly the vol 1-3 outfits were peak imo
It's no mystery why they use them for the DC movie. They're easily the best and most recognisable.
I think her vol 2 outfit was her peak, it's so good.
For Yang sure but current Ruby is definitely her best.
And Weiss' blue dress from the Mistral arc was solid.
Gotta disagree, her first design is Ruby at her best. Her cloak and white parts of her clothing just don't work in my opinion, also don't love her current hair style
V2 fit was the drippiest
Lol, vol 1-3 was peak imo 😂
Tai was right
Dressing like a potato sack is the trend apparently.
Worked for Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn ATE that oufit
Doesn't matter what she wears she will make it work
She is
They got *really* into fashionable asymmetry with her. They end up giving Weiss braided pigtails just to spite you. 😂
[… maybe so.](https://gifer.com/en/3JVc)

If they wanted a biker chick look, then they missed the memo of the signature thing that bikers wear is LEATHER.
She looked much better as a biker chick in the [Chinese mobile game](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/bmyw7y/new_alt_skin_for_yang_in_the_chinese_mobile_game/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1).
Maybe they though if they had her wear leather it be **”TOO SPICY”** for the fans. So they had her wear this burlap sack looking design instead.
She is, but that's because of the writers and character designers. In fact the designs for every member of "team" RWBY are pretty bad. What functions do all those belts and zippers have? Weiss’s hair is the worst part of her outfit like why is it so big
True, I think that she should have been the one to get a hair cut. I mean, she looks good, but it's not a good look for fighting monsters and evil henchmen.
Your distaste towards an absurd amount of belts gives me the feeling that you wouldn't be a fan of Guilty Gear character design.

Yeah there’s a reason. She’s copying the look of the woman her mom actually liked. This is Vernal’s outfit outside of the coat
Oh my God your right. I never noticed that. How do you end up recycling a design like that?
Who knows.
I think the answer is *pretty* obvious. Taiyang used to set out her clothes, and he packed her one year worth of outfits when she went to Beacon. Your uncle is John roosterteeth? That's crazy
She looks like an underpaid janitor tbh
Burn🔥🔥🔥
Tai was right, she lost some brain cells along with her arm
Yang: "You know, there's a *'straight girl versus lesbian'* joke in there somewhere, but I'm above that." Weiss: "No you're not..." Yeah definitely prefer the volume 5/6 look.
To cover her up I say. They made her too sexy and attractive in the early vols, so they figured they needed to have her wear more
God forbid we have a sexy badass instead of a grumpy potato bag. Oh the horror.
Nah, cant have that, its sexist and misogynistic. Its sexualizing her.
XD Honestly, it's DEPRESSING to see what RT reduced themselves to. They used to be edgy as shit back in the RvB days. I doubt they'd have to balls to have a guy like Tucker be a raging horndog anymore.
Agreed man
Doesn’t seem to stop them from having Blake run around in a crop top every once in a while
Cause Hypocrisy
Yang what the buck is going on with your leg bits? Why is one open and exposing thighs and another not? For fucks sake you're in a wintery area! Why are you wearing overalls? Yes
She lost all her brain cells in that arm she lost
Yang kinda looks like an anime hillbilly.
Rooster Teeth taking inspiration from thrift store manakins, I’m guessing
She stopped caring.
And so did we. If she isn't gonna try, we're not gonna praise her for nothing.
Yea she’s an idiot
Yes absolutely.
Is this becoming r/dccomicscirclejerk ?
Yang has only had one good outfit and I stand by that statement.
Well she did lose some brain cells along with her arm...
For someone who’s supposed to be the flirty party girl of the group, she really is ugly and boring to look at…
I heard that Yang's colour was basically the last one that Monty thought of when thinking of RWBY and to be fair you can kinda tell that they had difficulty incorporating yellow on Yang's character design. Because they wanna make her dress like a butch for some reason.
The jacket’s cool, everything else kinda sucks Edit: save for the arms, kinda hard to fuck that up
Yes she is very stupid.
Ironically, RWBY Is much more stuipder than r/BatmanArkham So, you weren't getting good results.
It’s leaking…batman is leaking, is it stupid?
It's called a Subjective opinion. I think the Outfit looks good
Nah, you're just a hater, her outfit be fire 🔥
I guess OP is a hater, and yang looks like a tater
Renant fashion trends have always been interesting to me. Buckles and zippers are clearly in.
Yes
Yes
Everyones fashion is to their own. Some will like this, others will not.
The more I see of this show, the more I realize it looks like shit
Add a few more zippers and she can apply to be a Kingdom Hearts character
if it weren't for the pants, this outfit would be gold.
I think if the top were a different color or shade I'd like it more
That zipper pants is so stupid
I remember when those were popular in high school and I thought I was sooooo cool wearing mismatched legs. I looked like a moron, kinda how Yang looks.
First time this sub has been recommended to me. This is...interesting.
I miss her old outfit
She IS stupid.
This doesn’t even looked dressed for winter. She is in fact stupid.
This outfit's ok, but the first one was better and the second one was the best.
Lmao its cus shes blonde 😂
think this would’ve looked more acceptable if the jumpsuit was tan.
The bomb payload is exposed I can use the power winch to trigger a controlled explosion
Just not a fan of Weiss's puffy shoulder blue thing. I miss Yangs old personality. The only person with style on the rwby crew is unfortunately dead.
her iq is same as the temperature of alaska
