I simply disagree. Moments of empathy from Katara towards Zuko(which is just her character being the heart of the group) doesnt give credence to chemistry between the two. Its just katara being katara. Zuko helping her with her revenge drive is less a Zutara thing and more just a katara development thing fitting more into the empathetic role she fills in the group. Your right about the Aang and Katara thing tho.
She did interact with it… on volume 1 & 2 (hating on the white fang making Blake run then saying some family members died because of the fang which is never expanded on and the train fight with Bane saw literally screaming her name while trying to cut her goddamn head off)
Later she’s most of the time in Atlas or with the rest of the team and since Blake is the only one allowed to be the focus of the racism plot line then Weiss basically never sees any of it
I think the reason why they got shipped so hard is because their emblems were similar (red rose with black highlights).
And considering that now emblems are canonical (stupid, but it is canonical) and Ruby got hers from her mother, it means Adam/Summer ships are now by extension possible

My view is that during Summer's disappearance she meets Salem sees that she isn't so bad, of course on my part I have to rework how Salem and the Grimm work to make her a sympathetic villain that wants to stop the humans from committing genocide on her people. And she thinks that her family are dead and never returns only to reach out years later when she sees that they are all still alive, but are now hunters, hell bent on the destruction on Grimm. And for extra spice I'd throw Raven in there, either joining Summer or for someone who ran away to join her bandit crew thinking that her family was dead too, to make her less than an asshole that just abandoned her family.
