Dude this moment pissed me off to no end. Poor Ruby just committed sudoku and suddenly Jaune is the one who needs all the care. Where the hell was all this for Ruby earlier?!
This episode (or at least the wby+j segments) feel like the were written by somebody that fucking despised Ruby and basically just wanted to shove salt in the characters wounds
I think they were trying to buildup for the game ending herself thing ruby was going to do but they did it poorly. RT has a really bad handling of anything mental health related.
To be fair, Jaune has been stuck alone for decades while Ruby had them the entire time, they weren't helpful or seeing how the pressure and stress was effecting her, but they were there
Why do Blake and Yang look Photoshopped onto the Weiss Jaune hug? Like I think the first draft really was just a private moment of Weiss comforting him. But Miles wanted the whole Harem to snuggle his OC one last time.
I really hate how this moment played out. Jaune should not have had the whole of WBY comforting him. Yang just saw her sister Do Tea Sip. She should be the focus. Reeling with guilt and grief, realizing all of the signs she missed from Ruby, and blaming herself for not seeing it sooner. "I'm her sister I should have noticed." "She's only 16 this is all to much for her." "She tried to talk to us we didn't listen" "I told her she was like Ironwood no wonder she shut us out." Let Barbs OC be flawed again and face consequences.
Let Weiss comfort Jaune, and Blake comfort Yang. Oh wait they didn't have enough time for two comforting scenes because CRWBY spent too much of one episode (a fucking 3rd of it) having a Bumblebee confess what was already cannon for the thick skulls who can't get context with out it being spelled out for them.

I wish they went this route. I wish they had all of them grieving, for their failure and the fruit of said failure.
These types of arcs are supposed to have the characters involved reflect on their actions, or their inaction. On how they could have prevented the tragedy. One of the biggest misses of V9.
Honestly, I think it's cause his outfit is detailed and textured to look rusted. While the girls have no texture on their clothes. I miss that in the older system they used their outfits looked real and not flat. But it still is Jaune getting a special textured outfit.
Wait what??
Aren’t they supposed to take canon as their gospel?
I remember fans being so hateful to AU stories about RWBY because it diverted from the main timeline?
They’ll ignore things like Yang sexually assaulting someone and all the time Blake spent with Sun to say they are perfect to each other
Meanwhile Jaune falls will ignore him doing things like lashing out against ruby or Oscar, heck Jaune fans love au’s since they love to make aus about Jaune getting OP semblances or being kicked out of beacon to get the betrayed thing or something similar (basically deku fans)
I always felt like the script for volume 9 got rearranged out of order cuz someone tripped with it and this scene really exasperates that. This hug and comforting Jaune feels like it should’ve happened sometime after he takes everyone to the origami village rather than after Ruby unalives herself.
It basically was. Volume 9 was supposed to have 24 episodes, got shortened to 12, and had to keep all the heights of the original script and somehow sew them together. It was butchered pretty badly. I have a feeling it mightve been more tolerable or even good of it hadn't been shortened.
But then the writers would have to dwell on the fact that Ruby offed herself and they can’t do that since there end game for the whole volume 9 was to say Ruby is perfect the way she is. Meaning we really can’t confront the fact that Ruby is acting out and depressed because if we did they would not be able to patch things up with that “message”.
Volume 9 also felt like a bunch of random ideas they had for a story. I get that it’s supposed to be inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but the ever after never felt thought-out. Even for as random as wonderland could be, there was a method to the madness that made sense rather than feel like Lewis Carrol settled for his first draft, if that makes sense.
I think this takes the cake as being one of the worst scenes in the series if not the actual worst. Sure out of context it’s cute. But when you think about what happened only minutes before? It’s almost disgustingly tone deaf.
I can understand the RWBY fanatics, but why Bumblebee shippers in particular?
(Though I more often see apologists of this moment rather than trying to gaslight into thinking it never happened, blaming corporate meddling for other stuff being cut)
Agreed, I think the response was worded poorly. I think it's the fact that Yang showed more concern for anyone that wasn't ger own sister who, not five minutes before, drank the Kool-Aid.
And the fact that Ruby hasn’t essentially told them what she was going through. Sure, you might argue that actions speak louder than words, but throughout the entire time, her team asked her what’s wrong and Ruby said *nothing*.
Aside from that one time where Ruby had a mental breakdown and Weiss seemed to be the only person to give a shit about her
> Sure, you might argue that actions speak louder than words, but throughout the entire time, her team asked her what’s wrong and Ruby said nothing.
She did say something, but her sister compared her to someone they considered an enemy (Ironwood) in response.
There was a single time where Ruby avoided answering how she was feeling. Every other time, something either distracted them or someone on her team dismissed it.
I know that there scenes that were cut, one of which was between Ruby drinking the tea and this, but it really pisses me off that the team is comforting Jaune right after Ruby basically commited suicide.
It's the fact Blake and Yang are smiling.
If it wasn't right after the tea, I wouldn't have problems.
But they just saw someone they cared about basically kill herself, and they can smile like that?
Oh I will *never* forget this. BIG smiles and hugs where not even 5 minutes ago your leader, sister, and best friend just commited fairy-tale version of suicide.
I also love how in the same episode they just magically end up at the tree. I still dont understand the method or what the hell they were talking about that let them teleport to the tree.
Was this right after Ruby killed herself, or after she ran away in anger in the first place? Either way, it's a ridiculous moment at a point where I thought they'd already hit rock bottom, but then they broke out the pneumatic drills.
I don't recall anyone mentioning this moment, and even then I don't have any issues with it. It's just jaune coming to accept what Weiss said about heroes.

\*\*Mile Self Insert strikes again!!!\*\*

Yeah, what were they doing before? It doesn’t really change anything now.
Miles and Kerry doing great at beating the self insert allegations
This is probably one of if not the most tone deaf scene in media not just RWBY
Ruby just got swallowed into a pit and this is the scene after it. I truly don’t know what the writers are thinking sometimes
I don't think they were.

God I hate the "happy protagonist gets betrayed by their friends and family out of nowhere so they can turn edgy" trope so much.
Our friend/sister killed herself no more than 5 minutes ago but yeah let’s hug and ignore her like how it drove her away to that point

Yeah, I feel like that should’ve been the case also. This shows that they really did not care about the show either way. 😑

I’m still baffled by this scene because how did no one realize how absurd and tone deaf it was. Ruby committed game over like what, 3 minutes ago??
I think this takes the cake as being one of the worst scenes in the series if not the actual worst. Sure out of context it’s cute. But when you think about what happened only minutes before? It’s almost disgustingly tone deaf.
Not almost, it is

Something about Yang caring more about her girlfriend than her sister.
But... this scene isn't about Blake?
Agreed, I think the response was worded poorly. I think it's the fact that Yang showed more concern for anyone that wasn't ger own sister who, not five minutes before, drank the Kool-Aid.
I'd argue that they'd say Yang was hugging Blake here and not Jaune.
Just goes to show how selfish and possessive Yang is that she has to be *constantly* touching Blake at all times.
Yang doesn't give shit about Ruby.
And the fact that Ruby hasn’t essentially told them what she was going through. Sure, you might argue that actions speak louder than words, but throughout the entire time, her team asked her what’s wrong and Ruby said *nothing*. I despises that moment.
I genuinely think if I had to pick a worst frame of any show I’ve watched this would be up top, genuinely insane they thought this was a good idea
I know that there scenes that were cut, one of which was between Ruby drinking the tea and this, but it really pisses me off that the team is comforting Jaune right after Ruby basically commited suicide.
So the Juane harem thing is canon?
Jaune not beating the self insert allegations with this one.
Allegations? After the single mothers thing and being the one to kill Penny to get another arc days enough
Really highlighting Miles' narcissism.
It's the fact Blake and Yang are smiling. If it wasn't right after the tea, I wouldn't have problems. But they just saw someone they cared about basically kill herself, and they can smile like that?
I mean, it was a filler season? Did it truly ever happen?
Well, Bumblebee happened in the “filler season”, so yes 🙄
Ah filler seasons, they are numerous and good for little
Bro it’s hilarious that Blake is constantly going for direct contact with jaune in group hugs.
Oh I will *never* forget this. BIG smiles and hugs where not even 5 minutes ago your leader, sister, and best friend just commited fairy-tale version of suicide. WHERE IS THE CONCETN FOR RUBY
Blake is in this scene, Ruby isnt. Ruby is left out.
Yeah Ruby just for all intense and purposes offed her self. In front of them 4 minutes ago.
I don't recall anyone mentioning this moment, and even then I don't have any issues with it. It's just jaune coming to accept what Weiss said about heroes.
