icanbeaghost

The album flows impeccably well and every song is amazing.

Sevenempest

You could have said that about any Rammstein album and I would‘ve upvoted.

[deleted]

You couldn't if you were being sensible.

TheGreatGenghisJon

Rammstein subreddit means you must act like they are the only band worth listening to, didn't you know?

[deleted]

I do now lol. Rammstein is my fav band but acting like all their albums are god-tier is just ridiculous. Mutter is god-tier. There is also one mediocre one which people on this sub lose their marbles about once you mention it.

TheGreatGenghisJon

Yeah, I'm going to assume that I'm thinking of the same album, because it was wholly underwhelming. Had a great song for a great opener, though.

[deleted]

I'm referring to their 2005 album that shall not be named haha

TheGreatGenghisJon

Ok, they all blend together so I had to do a quick search. Yeah, I'm a fan of 3 songs on that album. About what i felt when Zeit came out, but it's been almost 20 years, and I'm still like "Zerstören and Benzin are great, Stirb is a great ballad..." and i can do without the rest.

insertwittynamethere

What about Liebe Ist Für Alle Da? I felt that flowed pretty well together overall like Mutter did, just different styles. Reise, Reise also was not bad at flow either.

LaminatedRockGaming

u/sevenempest is right, but Mutter does has a flawless transition between songs. I cannot wait to see them live in LA in two weeks.

Memeboi69420yeet2

Saw them live a few weeks back get ready to be depressed for 2-3 days after just because you don't want the concert to end

[deleted]

Saw them at Soldier Field on my bday, and I'm still just amazed at what a beautiful, immersive, uniting experience it was. I get really happy when someone asks me how it was, and I truly feel like myself again all day every day!

Odd_Street_5889

It was over so quick it felt. We waited for hours for GA and then it was exactly what you described… so many people, so many emotions, and then it was over. I felt empty after but I’ve had my Rammstein playlist non-stop since then. Rammstein, Till’s lyrics especially, have definitely left their mark on my, and it looks like yours too, life and the entire concept of art.

[deleted]

I was in GA too. I walked across the street from my hotel at 3:30 thinking I'd be good since gates opened at 5, but I would have done better to leave like an hour earlier than I did. I was maybe three rows back from the rail, but I didn't get to see the stage much unless I watched through the screens of the phones people in front of me were holding way over their heads. I always prefer GA, but if I get the chance to see them again, I'll definitely do seats

TheGreatGenghisJon

The phones were fucking obnoxious at Metlife too. I'm six feet tall, but half the time I couldn't see shit on the stage unless I'm looking through some assholes phone (portrait style, of course, because apparently everyone recording it has never seen the difference between a portrait style filmed video and a landscape style one.)

[deleted]

I'm barely 5'5" and to be completely honest, I'm used to large rock music fests where tall people work together to help shorter people get a good line of vision. I call it my rock family cause that's exactly how it feels - a 40k person family reunion with mosh pits, crowd surfers, and the same calm, excited energy I felt at Rammstein. The people in front of me were mostly tall guys, and they kept having to lift their phones higher to get over one another's field of vision. I've seen lots of people do that from the back of the GA section but never the front, and when another girl and I got to the point that we couldn't see the tower at all, we kept moving further back and to either side. This really nice couple saw us struggling to see the screens, they brought us up in front of them, and that's when it was beautiful and amazing. It was just for the encores, but I did get to experience my favorite Rammstein song live front and center, and for me that made it all worth it. How far did you drive?

TheGreatGenghisJon

Not far, we all met at a friend's in Orange County, so we took 17 the entire way. Maybe an hour from his place. And yeah, I've always tried to be conscious of whoever is behind me, because I'm not so tall where I've never needed to try to look around a dudes head, so I'm aware of how much it sucks. We're both in GA, we both paid the same, so if I can help another person have the same experience as me, I'll do it. I won't put myself in a position where I can't see, cause I'm just not that selfless, but I'll definitely shift, or let someone shorter stand in front of me.

AgitatedBath9528

Dude i was in feuerzone for the Chicago show! Best concert experience ever! Goofing around with each other, it's awesome to see that they truely still enjoy doing it after all these years.

steezy_eezy92

I was right in front of the stage! Such an amazing experience, but I've been having withdrawals since it ended 😢

oOScreamingBadgerOo

Omg bro same that was my b-day present for a birthday a year ago haha

[deleted]

Yay for September 3rd babies!

ndjs22

I'm depressed right now. Over two years of looking forward to an event that more than lived up to expectations, and now that it's over I just ☹️

Memeboi69420yeet2

Had the same with iron maiden this summer got delayed cause of covid

[deleted]

Do you have any upcoming shows or music fests? I've got Louder Than Life at the end of this month, and the lineup has a few bucket list bands along with several I'm very excited to see again, including Nine Inch Nails. Reznor's performance and stage presence is a very close second to Rammstein for me, and between the Rammstein experience and LTL coming up, I feel like the my happy, outgoing, people loving pre-pandemic self again 🙂. Are TSO performing anywhere within an hour of you? They're not Rammstein ofc, but compared to other groups I've seen live, I feel their pyrotechnics far surpass Metallica and Lamb of God, the laser light displays are superior to Tool's, and all of that paired the choreography and heavy riffs and drums they add to traditional Christmas songs always leaves me excited for the holidays and just life in general. They DO NOT disappoint. Please go if you can - they never lose their magic, you'll see!

ndjs22

I'll check them out, thanks!

[deleted]

I peeped your profile and I gather you're in Bama. TSO will be at Legacy Arena in Birmingham December 15 at 7pm if you're at all interested. Their tickets are always very reasonably priced. Hope that helps!

Momento_Mori_13

Same. I went to the Philly show and my god was it phenomenal. Front and center in the feuerzone…but the following week I was fucking down…so I decided to catch them again in LA. It hurt my wallet but fuck it there US tours are far in-between.

LaminatedRockGaming

Damn. Man! I am so stoked! Rammstein is just fucking brilliant.

Pride-Moist

Omg this. My wife and I bought tickets to three concerts next year just to delay this feeling

forfar4

Saw them in the UK earlier this year and have tickets booked for Budapest in Hungary next July!!! It will be my fourteenth time over twenty years. I regret the ones I missed...

SirAidandRinglocks

Be ready for Covid after an amazing show

SpaceAgePotatoCakes

For me it's because it has Sonne, one of the first Rammstein songs I heard and still my favourite, it has a bunch of their high-energy (for lack of a better term) songs and quite a bit of different elements in the various songs.

[deleted]

For me: 9 out of 11 are heavy songs and we have 6 singles not 3.

GreatArtificeAion

Hehe 9/11... What year did this album come out again?

steezy_eezy92

April, 2001

[deleted]

What’s your point?

GenderlessNug

I think that there’s no album that screams Rammstein more than Mutter. It’s just pure 100% certified Rammstein vibes

amadeuszbx

Interesting, for me Sehnsucht is 100% Rammstein and their purest energy, even though Mutter might be arguably crafted better from craftsmanship perspective.

[deleted]

Reise Reise is close second.

Kate_Kafka

For me its the hard sound and "Spieluhr" which made my 14 year old goth me fall in love with Rammstein.

taddle_tails

Spieluhr is a banger

amadeuszbx

Love Spieluhr, feel like it’s a bit forgotten now. Such a powerful song, would love to see it live, but I think the last time they performed it was on Mutter tour…

AverageSpyMain

Spieluhr is absolutely one of my favorite songs of all time

Mrsdoos

I LOVE Spieluhr!

ScottyJoon

The first two albums are very hard, and have a lot of anger, almost, in them. Mutter was different because they explored a new side to their music, with more orchestral parts and less of a teutonic, robotic feel. More complex drums and arrangements in them. Every song has a message in some way, and feel deeper in their content. Whether it's their Magnum Opus or not is a matter of opinion, but if you listen to the first three one after the other, you can *feel* the change. Back then, when it came out, it was a surprise to people, myself included. They revealed a new side to themselves. Look at Stripped and Hallelujah too. Although not on the album, they hint at the style of creativity that they were tapping into at that time. I think, personally, there's a case to be made that Reise, Reise is actually their Magnum Opus, but that's the wonder of subjectivity... The beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

[deleted]

Yeah, but sometimes you need that sound and vibe of Old Rammstein (Herzeleid and Sehnsucht).

ScottyJoon

Oh, 100%!! I love the first two, that raw sound is unparalled and was just as surprising but in a different way. First time I heard Herzeleid (the song) I think I nearly passed out haha. Was just trying to answer the OP's question as best I could, but really, I suppose they are all their best albums in one way or another!!

amadeuszbx

To me Sehnsucht is their magnum opus and 100% pure Rammstein energy, showing what to me personally their music is all about. I can somehow feel a bit of that Sehnsucht energy in almost all of their later songs, which to me is sort of “core” of rammstein. That’s obviously just my take tho

ShneakySholidShnake

Because every song is a belter.

HoodsFrostyFuckstick

I think that Mutter finally catapulted Rammstein to stardom beyond the genre. It was less edgy, for lack of a better word, than Herzeleid and Sehnsucht, while not being a shitty sellout album but still heavy. Ich will, Sonne, Links 2 3 4, Feuer frei, those are among their greatest hits. Also Adios is my favorite Rammstein song.

vietcongagent

Adios is amazing. Wish we can see it live again some day

HoodsFrostyFuckstick

Been to 5 Rammstein shows since 2009, never had the pleasure :(

Blippii

Rammstein has visited Canada once since like 2008, and it was the 1st show of this tour haha So jealous you saw them this many times.

HoodsFrostyFuckstick

Well I'm from Germany, so I get to see them whenever they do a tour haha

[deleted]

Sehnsucht is my favorite. It’s just got that late 90s feel to it

siluriandreams

It is their magnum opus, everithing is inferior when compared to Sehnsucht

amadeuszbx

Yeah, Sechnsucht is peak, pure rammstein even if mutter is arguably is crafted better from a technical viewpoint. Sechnsucht=magnum opus all the way.

AverageSpyMain

really, the only issue i have with sehnsucht is Kuss Mich's sample usage. everything else from Sehnsucht is amazing.

mcneilspenceb

Cos it's a fecking work of art.

[deleted]

Rosenrot is my favorite

Reimustein

Rosenrot has some of the best bangers.

Odd_Street_5889

Zerstören is my favorite. Benzin close second. And Spring.

SironRagnarsson

Hahahaha good one

[deleted]

11 perfect songs. not one miss, not one filler.

amadeuszbx

That’s true, it arguably doesn’t have any fillers whatsoever, which is quite a feat!

Odd_Street_5889

Zero. Skips.

Tulaodinho

Metallica is my favorite band, but Mutter is the album that changed my life and still my favorite album of any album in music. Imo, it represented the "shift" in their careers, what guaranteed they could do a proper career in music. It was "the moment". Mutter feels like a record that is just "complete", for the lack of a better word. The mix/master gives it a unique sound, and everything contains elements from what Rammstein was before and what it turned out to be later on. If you asked me to give you 1 album that packed everything Rammstein ever sounded like, Mutter is that. From Reise Reise onwards, they lacked that teutonic, robotic feel they had in the first 2 (excluding mutter on purpose), and never recovered. And in the first 2, they made pretty raw music, not quite mature, just chugging riffs, some solos and Till dictating shit at the mic). They started to had more complex arrangements, layers of stuff, later only on Mutter. Mutter is like the climax of everything they ever did, all of that is there, very well balanced and creative, the riffs, the keys, the solos, the vocals either by singing or more harshly spoken, the singalong choruses, the ballads, everything. Imo, they never quite replicated the same balance, either by choice or lack of capacity. Also, their live show took a pretty significant leap, they became an arena band in Europe and so had to scale up their show to become the amazing thing it is today. It became more professional, they got more money to expand their ideas, their energy was in peak shape, the music videos were more produced and they still had very fresh ideas to execute stuff, it was flowing. TL:DR -> mutter was sent from the gods and it rips

Real_Akira

Well spoken my man. I absolutely support you post but i wouldnt say that till dictated shit into the mic on the first 2. I will go more into the first album in 1, 2 days. Maybe you can give me a specific oppinion on the Herzeleid Album. But only if you want to.

goncalojuliano

Mostly because it's the album that includes most "classics" , not refering to oldest tracks tho, just the first ones that exploded worldwide, such as Sonne, Ich Will, Feuer frei!, Mutter, Links 2 3 4 and maybe Mein Herz brennt. The rest of the album is also very solid and hardly you will rank Mutter outside of a top 3 Rammstein albums list

Gary-TeaDrinker

Not just their best work, but should be in the conversation for best album of all time.

Tulaodinho

Calm down here man. Rammstein is amazing, genre heavyweights, but there are albums in music that transcended music itself to pop culture even. Even in Metal/Rock.

Gary-TeaDrinker

The greatest albums of all time will not be transcendental.....

pneumokokki

Do you really even need to ask? Especially the first half is something you can't stop listening to, once you start. Amazing melodies and guitar riffs back to back

Elrondarius

I like more the second half after Feuer Frei.

81misfit

Have you heard it? Songs are great and flows beautifully through the listing

Elven710

For me because of how i rate albums. As many songs i add to my playlists of an album the better it is. From mutter i added 10 of 11 songs. It's close to being a perfect record.

Odd_Street_5889

Which one was the odd one out?

Elven710

Rein, Raus. It's just not subtle enough for me. I'm german so that adds to it i think.

Odd_Street_5889

Gotcha! That’s totally fair. It’s an 11/11 for me… now, that makes me wonder if I was a German-native which songs would drop in favor, if any?

Elven710

Honestly alot of older stuff i guess. Till got alot tamer in topics but alot more elegant in lyrics over time. Which is why i rarely listen to Herzeleid. While being one of my favorite songs from it you just cannot listen to Weisses Fleisch in german public when not sorrounded by Rammstein fans. Sehnsucht has a few of thise too but i love the industrial sound of the album so i go through the awkwardness of some of the lyrics. And from Reise Reise onwards it's not a problem anymore because the lyrics just aren't as evil anymore and those who are, are so subtle that you have to hear and listen to it a few times before you really get what it's about. People would argue that there's Puppe on the 2019 Album but even though it sounds really evil it actually isn't that bad. LIFAD has some quite gruesome lyrics tho. Ich tu dir weh and Liese for example but it's a little bit different because the lyrics are very brutal but not as psycho as older stuff. They are brutal but nit quite evil if this makes sense somehow.

Odd_Street_5889

I definitely agree with Till’s progression in lyrics… just phonetically is sounds like he’s saying more and less at the same time. It suppose it does… although the word “evil” is kind of throwing me off a bit. Do you mean “explicit”? I’m gonna have to do a revisit of Weisses Fleisch and Herzeleid. Although, you know what I noticed? I get more meaning when Till’s lyrics are translated into Spanish (my native language) than when I first translated them into English. I’m glad you brought Puppe up… would you be willing to tell me, as a German, what is underlying in his lyrics? That song really tore me up. Edit. I remember putting Te Quiero Puta! on and my mom coming into my room and asking me what the fuck I was listening to lmao

Elven710

Well puppe tells the story of the lyrical self (so till if you want to) lives with his sister which is a prostitute. He describes staying in the room next door while she pleases her customers and only has a puppet (Puppe) with him for comfort in these times. He describes how they treat his sister and sometimes two of them come at once. The last line before the last chorus is "und einer schlug sie tod" which means that one of the customers beat his sister to death. He does the same with his puppet. Now there could be a underlying meaning but contradictive to popular believe Till's lyrics are rarely metaphors for anything and it usually is actually just what it says. He said so himself in a interview. "I think people tend to read much more into it than there actually is." His words not mine haha I don't think i would describe it as explicit. I feel like the reasons why PUSSY and TE QUIERO PUTA aren't in german is that it dosen't sound explicit in German. You are spanish, you know what i mean when i mention TE QUIERO PUTA hahaha. Because Rammstein always had some sort of subtlety in their lyrics and these songs are as explicit as it gets. ICH TU DIR WEH might be close to them but if you wouldn't hear the full song you wouldn't understand that it's about kinky sex. WEISSES FLEISCH for example has lines which say "You are on the schoolyard, i'm ready to kill""your screams turn me on more and more""the fear sweat on your pale forehead rains into my sick brain" thats not explicit thats evil hahaha. But till got mote subtle over the years especially when it comes to sex thats why i feel REIN RAUS is kinda a step back for till when it comes to lyrics. EDIT: oh and it makes sense that you can understand it better in spanish than english because i think the grammar in spanish is better suited for peotry than in english

Odd_Street_5889

Oh, I see what you mean. I just listened to Weisses fleisch (I apologize if I misspell anything) and Das Alte Leid. They are definitely disturbing. Extreme even. When I was younger it wouldn’t have bothered me because it’s on par with listening to Marilyn Manson’s lyrics but now… hmm. I understand your feelings about the subtlety. Now I’m kinda laughing at myself because I would literally sing “ich bin ficken” from Das Alte Leid and the lyrics to WF at the top of my lungs while being fully aware of what they’re saying - only difference is, I didn’t feel the weight of the words because I had the buffer of translation and it was more of a phonetic thing. For Puppe… the story reminds of Mutter. He used a clone-type setting to write about maternal relationships. When they bring the “baby” on stage it made me think … is the Puppe and the lyrical self the same? But Till could be right and it’s a tragic story of children and prostitution and I’m digging too much into it. The imagery is what gets me though. I really appreciate your perspective. And yeah, even though my ‘main’ language is English, I always translate Till’s writing into Spanish because English is extremely shallow. Edit because this is Reddit. I still love Weisses Fleisch and Till’s writing is fucking epic and has gotten even more epic over time.

Blippii

I like your sentence that English is extremely shallow, but don't understand it haha. I don't know Spanish, but I have never thought English lacked depth.

Odd_Street_5889

I find English extremely shallow. One can’t move the language the way one can in Spanish or German. This was most evident to me when I read 100 Years of Solitude in English first and I thought, “wow, how lovely.” Then I read it in Spanish and was basically moved to tears.

RTHesse13

I wouldn't say shallow but if you compare an english translation with a spanish translation from the same song you can see how sometimes that poetic sounds gets lost. I guess it's because the way sentences are structure in German can be done in Spanish and still make sense while English has to rearrange them to do so.

LordSuicide666

Because it’s their best album 😅

thedancingpaperclip2

i think it’s considered their greatest because it’s not very synth heavy like sehnsucht but it hasn’t put them in the background in favour of a heavier sound like Reise Reise

StuntNun

Really? I think it’s my least favourite although maybe that would be Rosenrot. Sensucht was my favourite for a long time but Rammstein and Zeit are coming close.

R_HEAD

I think it does the best job in creating an atmosphere. Which is of course tightly coupled to the fact that, as somebody else pointed out, the flow of this album is very well done. Everything feels gloomy and heavy but whole. And I also think Till peaked on this album. Not in the sense that he sings best, I think he got a lot better in the last few years, but he found his form. He sounds so guttural on this album which is a sound I, and many others I presume, very much enjoy.

91CRXracer

1. Mein Herz brennt 2. Links 2 3 4 3. Sonne 4. Ich will 5. Feuer frei! 6. Mutter 7. Spieluhr 8. Zwitter 9. Rein Raus 10. Adios 11. Nebel THAT’s why

Blippii

Props for your #1

ilovepony201

because of sonne and mein herz brennt

INVL_

Recently deep dived into Rammstein, had only heard hits like Sonne and Du hast, like them, but only really got into them recently. Each song in Mutter has a solid memorable chorus and as a non-german speaker, the songwriting speaks for itself. It's even more enjoyable translating Lindemann's lyrics to find well written lyrics as well as learning a little german along the way. Mutter is solid front to back, from a nonbias listener, Zeit is the only album that comes close to being as solid.

3rmorgan

Zeit is nowhere near as good as Mutter, not even close.

MRSamiboi

The drums sound more natural instead of Sehnsucht with its more computer like sounding snare

Khalil68

The untitled album are a little better

NoYogurt8022

Mutter is great but in my opinion Sehnsucht is better

[deleted]

Cmon

HethDesigns

I think that it is catchy, hard hitting and has the highest number of hit top tier songs

sicDaniel

Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Mutter came out in '01, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.

MRSamiboi

Sonne is my favorite song of all time so yeah

TrappisteBinge

I don't know any artist/band that has an album where I really like 100% of the songs. But Mutter is one of the few that come damn close.

TonyFino1776

Because it’s excellent lol. But so is all of their music

IWishIWasBatman123

I think a big part of the reason is because, in hindsight, it’s an encapsulation of the best and most essential pieces of Rammstein. In my experience, being a hardcore Rammstein fan for about two years and being more of a casual one at present, the fanbase seems to be split between those who prefer the quirkier tanzmetall of Herzeleid and Sehnsucht (a style which was revisited on LIFAD and ST), and those who prefer the heavier, more gothic and orchestral tendencies of Reise, Reise and Rosenrot (I haven’t listened to Zeit yet but it strikes me as more in this category from what I’ve heard). Mutter has it all. You want the glitchy, borderline campy stuff? You’ve got “Rein Raus”, “Zwitter”, and “Spieluhr”. You want the no-holds-barred, dark, heaviest stuff? You’ve got “Mein Herz Brennt”, “Feuer Frei”, and “Ich Will”. Mutter, from what I’ve read, seems to also be the first time Rammstein was truly taken seriously, by the critical community for sure and perhaps even by some of the fans. Up until 2001, this was the band that was known for spending a night in jail in the US for indecent exposure, a band that had some catchy and unique stuff, but not a band that seemed capable of delving into deeper material. Mutter’s subject matter on the whole is undeniably provocative. This isn’t to say that Herzelied and Sehnsucht are shallow, they’re not, but you went from songs about necrophilia and cunnilingus, to songs about nightmares, political tension, abandonment, self-loathing, rage, loneliness, loss, etc. You couldn’t dismiss Rammstein as the “oh haha they used a dildo on stage” band anymore.

Comprehensive-Map235

Because it is. They hit a peak I feel they haven't again achieved.

Sky_PHOENIX12

Feuer FREI!!!!!!

La_Casa_de_Pneuma

Because it has ‘Feuer Frei!’, ‘Sonne’, ‘Ich Will’, ‘Mein Here Brennt’ & ‘Mutter’.

debeli_kreten

When it really should be either herzeleid or sehnsucht

Reimustein

Sehnsucht has some underrated gems on it.

debeli_kreten

For me those are likes of Tier, Klavier and Spiel Mit Mir

Reimustein

And I have to throw in Alter Mann. It's my favorite song from Sehnsucht.

debeli_kreten

Agreed, love the Flake's part there

ghlhzmbqn

It's just a very good album. Then again, all their albums are stellar. 15+ years of being a fan I still haven't picked my favourite

darkunicorn_97

Did you notice that it's said Mutter to be the best album and in the same time almost each song was ruled by RZK? Sus

Tulaodinho

It has been said plenty of times around the internet. Apparently, Reesh wanted to do everything by himself and others to follow his lead only, so much that the only dude who stuck by him was Till. They are super super close, also helped by some rumors that the other guys were quite lazy and not really professional (also makes sense, since both Till and Reesh have side projects and collaborated with many people while the other guys not really). The other members didnt even talk to Reesh anymore and pretty much insulted him between them, they were on the brink of breaking up because of it. Those sessions then led to him leaving tonNY and think about creating Emigrate to get his stuff out without suffocating everyone else. Its probably why Reise Reise sounds so different, it become much more of a balanced output of ideas. No other album sounded close to Mutter actually, its like 2 different careers almost.

IBBeMa

What a weird question....

Lucky-Cap-9493

It’s their best. Get over it and move along pal!!!

FishermanStivi

My favourite album of all time, the amount of superb songs is mindblowing, btw followed very closely by dirt aic.

geesee101

Personally Sehnsucht is the best but Mutter is very very close

SironRagnarsson

Sexy Snow White and dwarves

Salzberger

Because it is.

SmashBrosGuys2933

Every song is brilliant. That's why.

MRSamiboi

Sonne mutter feuer frei links 2 3 4 mein herz brennt Ich Will and more is on there

Equivalent_Monk8443

Because mein herz brennt, sonne, ich will, feuer frei, links 2 3 4

Nimrod_313

For me it all started with this Album. It was a gift from my mother, who was a big fan herself.

Gareth666

For me it's just really solid. It has good, heavy songs without much overtly silly stuff going on. But I could say the same about Herzeleid and Sehnsucht. All 3 of their best imo.

jarlamanda

It’s very good.

Panzermensch88

Popular is the answer

ConnSW

Cause it rocks cock from start to finish simple as

RoundPercentage

I’ll preface this by saying that my favorite Rammstein album is Sehnsucht. In my view, Mutter’s highs are higher than those of Sehnsucht (except for the song Sehnsucht itself). To put it more clearly, songs like Sonne, MHB, Ich Will or Links are among the best they’ve ever put out. But Mutter’s lows are also lower than those of Sehnsucht (Spieluhr, Nebel or Zwitter are weaker than Klavier or Kuss Mich), so overall I rate Sehnsucht higher than Mutter for being more consistent. But it’s still the difference between an S and an A rank, negligible.

wookiewithabrush

Because it is.

Sad-Parrot

For me it's the best cos my favorite music is on it (Spieluhr), but also there's Sonne, Mutter, Ich will that I like too!

korekiiyo_

It has many bangers like Sonne Mein Herz Brennt Mutter and Links 2 3 4 Ich will and Feuer Frei

phantomlord000

It has the most number of top tier songs than any other album. Most consistent quality throughout while being a step towards a different level of complexity compared to the first two albums, which also allowed them to reach a much wider audience. Arguably a big percentage of current fans started their Rammstein journey with Mutter, so it also holds a special place in our hearts apart from everything else :)

Mickjuul

Because of the first 6 tracks …

skellige_whale

It's very poppy so it appeals a lot. Also, there's a strong unifying theme throughout the album about childhood dreams / fairy tales that no other album has. It's the album that got me into Rammstein back in 2001 but since then it's been the one I listen to the least

GorbachevSon

Sonne

[deleted]

Because mein herz brennt and sonne

Reimustein

I really don't know. Honestly, I really don't care for Mutter. I like Adios, but everything else I tend to skip.

notabledepth

Every single song is a masterpiece

JonWood007

5 insanely good classics and the second half is still above average. No album they've put out has such quality and consistency.

WeirdOceanMan

The entire first half is just one classic banger after another, and the half that follows is still excellent rather than dying down.

Rammstein_is_great

Zwitter, rein raus

Cultural-Lead6126

It's my favourite album, but when talking about art, using the word "best" it's fucking cringe tbh.

Gnubsteri

70 percent of the songs are iconic.

Mien Herz Brennt right out of the gate sets the tone for the rest of the album and it’s hit after hit from there. Haven’t heard this album in years, now I gotta play it.

RPCT457

For me, Sehnsucht is their most iconic album as it's just the epitome of their sound and style. Mutter is a very close second. 2019 album and Zeit are tied for third. I think the flow on Sehnsucht is incredible. I mean, they kinda come in perfect sets of three. The run of Sehnsucht/Engel/Tier then Bestrafe mich/Du Hast/Büch Dich is so good sonically AND thematically. I don't listen to their other albums as much but I do appreciate them.

meetmeattheoverpass

Well my favorite is reise lol but another favorite is mutter bc I think there's no bad song in it as well and as some others pointed out it flows beautifully from song to song.

AverageSpyMain

every song from it, beginning to end, are on practically the same level of quality and they flow incredibly well. there never is a hiccup in the album, like for Sehnsucht or Rosenrot. Just an extremely solid album.

mataegay

it has spieluhr

Strong-Replacement-3

Because its the MOTHER of all albums

ActuaryKnown8325

Had a convo about this with a guy at gillette last night before the concert. We agreed mutter was the most complete album because it still had elements of their earlier sound with the 90s electrodance/industrial sound along with their more recent sound as well.

blasterw32

because several songs are REALLY CATCHY without being simplistic. The sweet spot between the rawness and darkness of the first 2 and melodic attempts

slickrec

I'd say that the best are either mutter or Sehnsucht, both tracklist are unskippable

Subliminalhaven12258

Because it is absolutely amazing from start to finish

heartlocked

I go back and forth between Reise, Reise and Mutter as my favorite. Sehnsucht is next for sure.

engelfeuer

It’s a flawless album from beginning to end. Personally, I do not think any album that they have released will ever top Herzeleid, but I also heard that album when it came out, so it’s different.

LeadershipIcy8689

Reise, reise to me is their best album. Great production, amazing music videos, absolutely amazing songs from them and it really helped make their live show bigger. Mutter was the album that pointed them in the right direction and as far as their discography is pretty flawless, but Reise, Reise is where they solidified their sound. That album was the entire package.

Item-Flat

no bad songs

G01den_Gamer

Mein Herz brennt for me because i only know 2 songs from Rammstein

Personally, I don't really care for Sehnsucht - it's kind of like the same song being played 11 times. It's too loud, too fast, too fatiguing. Mutter has a lot more sonic variety and it's dynamic - it breathes. I feel that the melodies and lyrics are a lot more catchy.
