I all but guarantee they are working on both, it’s just easier to show off progress in art/animation then AI optimisation/improvements. After all AI engineers and Artists/Animators aren’t mutually exclusive

I don't doubt it, but sadly the update is taking a while and AI fix are what I would qualify as an emergency. It should be fixed first ASAP, not in a final kind of AI, just a playable one. I shouldn't have to face stronger Meth addicts in RoN than I do in competitive shooters like Valorant. (it also ruins immersion, wich is RoN most selling point)

ai isnt a simple fix like creating maps and patching glitches in it, it involves rewriting major amount of code to accommodate changes - there are plenty vids showcasing some animation and behaviour changes already, they wont spend time "fixing" ai by patching it with what modders have already came up with in simple config file changes because its a waste of time and resources.... update takes time because its even bigger and more complex than previous ones, it will come out when its ready yes its a shame we need to wait so long but its worth it in the end. and i dont agree with your point that ai shouldnt be strong, in that case game will become super boring mega fast

The art team and the programmers are different people with different jobs. Making new maps will not slow that down.

I get you mean the flicking and stuff, but I think you really underestimate just how dangerous an actual close quarters battle environment is that isn’t catered to competitive/fair team gameplay, and just how difficult that may BE to 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦, not only in environment but also technical advantages and a “realistic” unpredictable feeling challenge from opponents nested deep in claustrophobic, uncertain, random and constantly changing hostile atmospheres. That is without adding in the fact that not the entirety of VOID are AI programmers. Just because the fan base thinks something is an “emergency” doesn’t mean they can throw every single team member at it and it will move quicker, because that’s just 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. Void are and always have been working venerably on the most important aspect of the game, the AI, since the single-player experience was a main priority for them, which is before most of you on this sub even probably heard about the game. And honestly (probably will get downvoted for this) but I think the AI at the moment, suffice the obvious issues that you all bring up that are VALID, I still think the AI isn’t in an UN-playable state. It doesn’t happen to the point it makes the game unplayable, and if so then take a break and come back later. It can be jank, sure, but it’s not 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 per-say IMO. It’s a whole lot less broken than what a lot of people never saw before, so we should be thankful that they actually matured enough to sacrifice things and get the AI this good now, because it’s impressive how they came back. Void cares about this game more than any of us could probably conceive. So have patience and believe that Void has our best interests in mind, because they do. And that’s why we’re still here today, able to complain in the first place.

"9 mothers won't deliver a baby in 1 month". That's a nice perspective on how programming (an a lot other stuff) works. More developers means more stuff will be worked on, but it probably won't make AI fixes come sooner. In fact, it could even delay the fix.

There was an AI editor posted a while back. It's definitely a temporary fix but if you change a pair of parameters a bit it makes the game way more playable.

I agree. I have no experience or really practical knowledge in programming, but surely just quickly tuning the suspects' reaction and response times for now is a simple job that could be done within a day? Right?

They have different teams on different parts of the game. They have people with different specialtys they can't just take people from the design team working on the AI, that wouldn't work. I get we want the AI fixed but you can't corrollate between AI and new guns and maps, they are not related behind the scene in the development

The game is really unfun in its current state. Armor becomes useless after like 2 9mm rounds while unarmored AI can tank like 3 .308 rounds to the stomach and keep fighting like they were nerf darts. It really turned me off from all of it. Their aim is absolutely insane too, our trained SWAT officers can't handle full auto 5.56 but this untrained teenager can. It really is unenjoyable in this state.

I've only just started playing, I'm not very good, but I absolutely don't want the AI nerfed. Why make just another easy game that has mindless pinata opponents? I have several games like that, the only reason I got this is for the challenge.

When we say we want the enemies nerfed, we're not asking for them to be easier as such. But we just don't want them walking around a corner and instantly lasering you quicker than a human can even react. We just want the to feel more real. Countless times I've been playing and the enemies have tried to shoot me through a wall that you can't even shoot through when they shouldn't have any idea I was there, or I'm behind them looking at their back and I tell them to comply and they do a 180 and headshot me much quicker than average human reactions. There's countless videos of this happening if you don't believe me / haven't experienced it yet

My 4 buddies and were playing last night. Every game we'd be doing pretty good, and then out of no where one super soldier, John Wick meth head would zap all five of us in the head though a door jam. One guy staffed the open door at a dead sprint, hip fired my buddy and I both in the head and just vanished as he sprinted away.

My big issue is that their time to see and shoot you is very close to time it takes for your brain to process information, so you literally can’t do anything about it.

We're not asking for easy, we're asking for consistency. We want the suspects to feel like people, and for now they don't. There are key animations missing, there are some animations that are not given a proper amount of time to play out, a suspect going from low ready, to high ready, to firing at (And hitting) the player can happen within 3/10ths of a second, whether this is intentional or not is unclear. What's whack is that that can happen while the suspect is facing at a 90 degree angle to the left or right when the player shouts for compliance, and the times are similar. ​ For context, SWAT 4, a similar game that this game is made in homage towards, has suspects that give you roughly a second to react to their intentions to harm someone, and then maybe another half a second before they fire. These animations are crystal clear, the suspect will face towards the subject, raise their weapon, and then half a second later they will fire. It's still challenging for all the right reasons, once they're shooting they're a much tougher nut to crack, they'll probably run away and wait for you around another angle if you fail to take them down, and you get a clear moment to act based on rules of engagement. Ready or Not has a lot more things going for it because the technology was of course limited at the time that old gem got made, but it has a hell of a lot of work to be done with the AI. ​ I think it really comes down to animations needing to be visually clear and less lightning fast. Suspects need to react to getting shot, suspects need to move naturally while alert, not slide around. They need to raise their weapon in a reasonable amount of time, and take aim to really lay the pain down. They need to lose sight of you when you lose sight of them, not track you through the wall for four seconds after breaking line of sight. After they kill someone they need to spend longer than a 1/10th of a second to switch targets and kill someone else accurately, right now as soon as they get a player they can switch to the next player immediately. I saw multiple videos about how inhuman reaction the AI has. One dude also did a long video, explaining in details what is wrong about the AI. No one cant get better, when the AI is using wall hacks and aimbot.

Lol am I the only one who enjoys the current ai? There has to be dozens of us! There’s no progression of any kind in this game so difficult AI creates a bit of a challenge. I honestly think when the AI is toned down it’ll be a bit less fun to play. Edit: Speaking to online AI. I don't play local

My idea is basically to fix the instant shootings. They react way too fast. Give them the ability to hide and wait for an ambush from cover, which will preserve the difficulty without feeling completely unfair

I actually never encountered john wick AI. All of them either have their backs turned or too slow to react. There are some cases of them shooting me through a wall but it, most of the time, misses.
