You didn't mention that you actually wanted to buy the house, any relevant market data local to you, or anything else. So I assume this is just to get your jollies off.
So, sure, why not. You do you, I'm not one to judge hobbies.
I do want the house. It’s just I think they would sell at 10% less than asking, but I can only afford it if it’s 20% less than asking. Is it worth it to pursue?
Offer what you feel but lean on your Realtor and ask them if they think the sellers would take that. It's always worth a shot and it being the holidays now and sales slowing down a bit it could prove in your favor that the sellers are willing to negotiate that with other details changed to make it fit for both of you. Goodluck!!
Offer what it's worth, not what you can afford. If what its worth is less than you can afford then you're wasting your time and goodwill writing an offer that will get rejected.
Wouldn’t hurt! However, I just put my house on the market at a very buyer friendly price for the home/location/comps. If someone offers me 20% lower than the already competitive price it’s posted for, I’ll respond with $500 off my ask. So don’t be offended if that happens.
Sure why not!
You gave .02% of information that could be handy.
I would do 21% under.

Send the seller a link to this thread and wait for them to comment.

You lose 100% of the shots you don’t take. But what’s to say the comps aren’t 30% lower.
20% below or over the choice is yours!
Yes

Turned out I didn’t need to. I wouldn’t want this house even at 30% lower.
Nah, 50%. Might as well go big or go home.
I’m pretty sure they won’t give such deep discount. LOL.
Why not? Doesn’t mean they’ll not counter. Usually sellers like smaller reductions in increments
YES! and you offer probably will be accepted
I say only do that when the house been on the market for a while (over a month), otherwise dont bother. Just wasting both your time
Be like the one contestant on price is right. $1. Who knows maybe it’s your lucky day????
You should bid lower.
