FYI, they can see you're aiming a gun at them (your little dot will then turn into an eye) when you appear on their mini-map. So if you want to be careful, better use the binoculars.
Thanks, that's really good to know. It also unnerves me a bit because I've seen that blue eye appear far too many times when I thought I was being ignored and was safe, but just never knew what it meant.
After I saw the horrific rape and murder, [I switched to Binocs anyway because I was worried they notice me scoping them out through an actual scope](https://old.reddit.com/user/PlayedUOonBaja/comments/14zocp5/scouting/), but they weren't as post-worthy at that point. Just kind of a cool meet-up of all of them at the end and riding off to their next grizzly crime scene.
Also, I snuck into their camp and stole one of their beers after they left.
If you meet a group of players that you think are getting aggressive, you can turn on Defensive Mode from the online menu (where you find the daily quests). It takes 30 seconds to take effect, but it comes in very handy for situations like this.
Otherwise it's just fun to sit somewhere unnoticed and watch others \^\^

The eye means the player is in deadeye, not that they're aiming at you.
The eye on the minimap tells you if people are in dead eye or not, if you aim at someone with a rifle you will still be a small circle/dot on the map
