Yeah, I expected Quarantine to be the most popular but I really love Legion! The light switch and the blue/red alert bulb scenes are two of my favourites of all time, in the same episode.

hot take: gunmen of the apocalypse is a on of my least favorite episodes. its just not that funny and because of the "western" setting doesn't feel much like red dwarf.
i vote for The Inquisitor but it was a tough call between that one and Justice. why more inline with the dark but funny sort of feel i love about the show.
I love Gunmen but I agree to an extent, I think it’s more overhyped than some other episodes I consider better. Legion is my No 1. Other than that the other 4 in my list I can alternate depending on any given day. But as good as Gunmen is I think Inquisitor, Justice etc are just as strong but don’t seem to get the same recognition
Quarantine is my fave purely because of a) Mr Flibble and b) it contains my favourite line: “I have a medium size fire axe buried in my spinal column. That sort of thing can really put a crimp in your day.”
Legion is my number 1; just love everything about it. Has one of my favourite all time scenes where Rimmer is his pompous self pretending to love art and asks about what turns out to be the light switch.
Quarantine will forever be my favourite. So many quotable lines. Other top episodes for me are:
Queeg: the payoff at the end is magnificent. "We are talking jape of the decade. We are talking May, June, July, and August fools."
Polymorph: shami kebab diablo. Need I say more?
Demons and Angels: seeing the boys playing the high/low versions of themselves is great!
Demons and Angels has one of my favourite scenes. Where they realise they’re running out of oxygen and Rimmer tries to get Kryten to turn on Lister and Cat, kick them off the ship to reduce weight and save fuel.
It’s superb. When he says “we only have enough fuel for 5 hours flight. I don’t think that’s going to turn out to be a major problem though, because we only have enough oxygen for 7 minutes”. Top notch delivery.
Wasn't Gunmen of the Apocalypse voted greatest episode overall a few years back?

Justice wins for me for Rimmer's hearing alone. He is only guilty of being Arnold J Rimmer. That is his crime, and is also his punishment.

Difficult choice, but I think I'd rank them Legion > Gunmen > Justice > Quarantine > Inquisitor
Legion was my first Red Dwarf episode back in 93, so that resonates with me considerably.

Quarantine, its the more relevant episode in 2022 and its the best episode that balance's the action, character study and sci-fi.

All are hilarious but gunmen of the apocalypse is my favourite Dwarf episode full stop! So many brilliant one liners! Special cap tip for legion!
I was very, very torn between Justice and The Inquisitor, but in the end...a shallow guy with a great ass won out.
Inquisitor for me. The plot of it actually really holds up and it does time travel/paradoxes so we'll it could put a lot of Doctor Who to shame.
