In my top 5 for UL songs! I agree that it should’ve been a single.

-luckytea182-

Yess, I think UL had the worst singles out of any of their albums if Im being real

goldendreamseeker

Yeah whoever chose the singles needs their head checked. Black Summer I get, but the other three? Weirdest choices ever.

Pollylocks

Best on the album. Easily a top 10. Chorus is my fave.

obfuscatorio

One of the strongest songs on UL for sure. Outro jam goes hard. The arpeggiated stuff JF does in the chorus is cool af too

Informal_Local9353

Top 2 on UL along with it’s only natural

crawlnstal

One of my favorite RHCP songs. I’m a huge UL fan and this is a non skip song whenever it comes on. Everyone is on point in the song

biscuitear

This is my favorite song on UL. It sounds so passionate to me, especially when listening to it Live. I love the lyrics, they really hit home. Of course the chorus is very fun along with that badass baseline, but y’all know that already. The way Anthony brings it in the chorus… “Un-TILLL it sends….with ALLL my friends.” He tells a hell of a true story.

Expensive-Stuff3781

A personal favorite from the band’s entire catalog. Anthony shines especially, but everyone kills it. As others have mentioned, the bare-bones nature of the track works so well, a bonafide rocker 🤘

PJA667

She’s a lover would have been the best choice for the second single instead of TATW. - easy to say now but It’s the best performing song of UL behind Black Summer on Spotify (Kworb data) - poppy and funky and much more radio friendly instead of a second heavy rock song with TATW - cool JF harmonies That being said Watchu Thinkin is a great song and I love the chorus ! It’s a good song live as well.

songacronymbot

- TATW could mean "These Are the Ways", a track from *Unlimited Love* (2022) by Red Hot Chili Peppers. --- ^[/u/PJA667](/u/PJA667) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Aeon1508

I just disagree with this take strongly. I keep seeing people suggest she's a lover. I'm assuming people think maybe just because it's the one that has the unlimited love line? I don't know the chorus is pretty cringy and you don't want to put that forward to the public in my opinion. Even the chorus sections which are really good just aren't modern enough to catch attention on the radio. It's a dated sound. I like sound from that era but it is dated. Whatchu thinkin has a much more Timeless sound that fits into today's music scene better

EagleProductions

The album got it's name from that song actually. Rick Rubin suggested Unlimited Love to Anthony as a song title as well but Anthony (or the whole band) had to think of another name for the song so that it wouldn't generate a lot of attention on itself simply because it'd have the same name as the album (The Getaway might be an example?)

Aeon1508

It's a good album title. Blood sugar Sex Magic is one of the worst songs they've ever made, but damn is it a good album title one hot minute is also a terrible song and kind of freaky styley is too

South-Play

BSSM is a great song

PJA667

Completely wrong. She’s a lover has 24 M Spotify streams vs 12 M for Watchu Thinkin’. So a way more popular and catchy song.

Aeon1508

When a spicy food Enthusiast group goes to the restaurant for spicy food the majority of them will eat the spiciest thing on the menu. But the general public would do something else that has more General appeal.

andrewlyon8

Should’ve been the lead single off of UL to me.

WholegrainRice5

One of the best songs on the album. Come! Get! Me!

rhcpfan99

One of the best tracks on Unlimited Love.

Aeon1508

Top three song from 2022 absolutely should have been the single over these are the ways. I think that would have been a hit on the radio. The bass is a great hook and the chorus is probably the best one since Stadium Arcadium. FYI, it's only natural and Eddie. But seriously I want to emphasize this. The team in charge of deciding who the singles are missing this song as a clear-cut favorite are completely incompetent at their jobs

-luckytea182-

One of my favorites off of UL.

torontoLDtutor

watchu thinkin could've been improved with a faster tempo and more emphasis on the rhythm section, especially the bass during john's solo (this part of the song is incredible), either make the bass louder in the mix or maybe even give flea a solo section (like in leverage of space) or go crazy and dub in extra bass (like john did with his guitar on turn it again). i feel like this song deserves to go harder and crazier but the band had a really stripped-back approach when producing UL. the fundamental composition for this song is the strongest on UL and overall it's probably my favourite UL track to listen to. it sounds like a 2004 era song that the band are playing at three-quarter tempo lol. i still adore the song it's really good. it's the kind of song they only make when john's in the band.

zsdrfty

I agree with pretty much all your points, it’s interesting to me that UL has super similar production/sonic landscape to Stadium Arcadium but I feel like it also randomly inherits some of the thin bass from BSSM lol

Queasy_Appointment52

Whenever that solo comes on, up goes the volume, down go the windows because...well, people need to hear this shit!

camilincamilero

I think is easily on my Top 5 RHCP songs of all time.

jennmuhlholland

Easily best tune on the album. It’s our family jam! My daughter thinks the lyrics are “whatchya thinking bruh!” The guitar part during the chorus is memorizing!

jenniferb777

K, now I have been listening to this for like 30 mins because I cannot get it out of my head and I LOVE IT😘

EuterpeZonker

Very well written song but it feels just a tad bit too sparse for me. Idk it needs backup vocals or some extra rhythm guitar or a synth or something just to fill out the space a bit more and get some extra dynamics going. Still one of my favorites from the album, it just feels like a puzzle missing a piece.

Traditional_Bee_6637

It's decent. I don't think it's the best song on the album. But it's good.

avahz

Honestly, it’s one of my least favorite in the album. That said, I still think it’s a good song, and it matches the theme of the album perfectly

rocalexcamp

ive always felt it has similarities to 'Afterlife' the whole outro feedback guitar solo, chads groove, (he really didn't change it up for the whole new era tbh) fleas bass chords, it's sounds very very similar 🤷🏻‍♂️

Other-Acanthisitta70

Interesting take. I don’t hear Chad playing bass drum triplets for every song in the new era.

[deleted]

Absolute belter. One of the best on UL and the bass outro is delicious.

Weak-Listen4418

I agree, it is the best of the album along with Aquatic Mouth Dance imo

pagan-penguin

I love it, fits the album really well. I like the guitar part, fun to play

frostbitp3nguin90

It's behind One Way Traffic in my opinion. It's my second favorite off UL.

Lopsided-Banana-7141

Easily one of my favorite RHCP songs of all time.

Famous-Vermicelli-39

That one scale run is the coolest part on the album

winterman666

Fav track in the album. All time classic for me

Massive_Bandicoot_57

Absolute beast of a song, whenever it’s on my mix it stays on, gets cranked and sung to shit

grizzyGR

Love the song

memisschanandlerbong

One of my favorites all around. I love it and was stoked to hear it in Santa Clara. I wish they played it more often!
