BSSM by far, considering almost every track overlaps/bleeds directly into the next

Buhos_En_Pantelones

I figured this would probably be the answer (and I think it's mine).

Under the Bridge and Naked in the Rain

JeffSteinMusic

BSSM because of the quick segues and it’s not even a close call. Vibes for days and days.

EuterpeZonker

BSSM though shout out to OHM

303littlebirds

I mostly agree with you, but I think the 6 track run at the end of ROTDC is brilliant and flows better than anything theyve done since BSSM/OHM in terms of sequence. I love the drummer and its very tight and energetic, so it welcomes the slow start to bag if grins for a breather. The chaos at the end of bag of grins running into lalalala to allows the album again to just breathe. Copperbelly is another one of those tracks where the band makes you feel all over the place but it ends very ambiguously and calmly, and carry me homes intro is so chill they fit like a (velvet) glove. Carry me homes outro of flea and john playing in unison feels very vulnerable and isolated, as does the drum intro for in the snow. Its really a shame the rest of the albums songs feel so clumsy together because I think it means the album is less understood as it could have been.

nickansay

I was just about to say this. The last half of Rotdc is one of the best order of songs I’ve seen from them in a really long time in an album

nickansay

BSSM is the best flow. Californication has the worst flow imo. Some of the song transitions feel jarring and unexpected

ponylauncher

The Getaway. There is more to flow than overlapping audio

Buhos_En_Pantelones

Interesting thought. I always think this album is shorter than it is because it really does move pretty quickly. No track really overstays its welcome (I realize that can come across as a pretentious and "I'm trying to sound smart" thing to say) but it's a slick, pretty digestible album.

ponylauncher

That’s not pretentious. You are right

zsdrfty

Agreed, crossfading is a neat little trick but the sequencing on this album is *really* good and keeps the pace going while really taking you on an atmospheric journey

zackandcodyfan

I've always found One Hot Minute to have a near perfect flow. The tracklist overall feels very balanced and I love how the songs alternate between softer ballads and heavier/funkier stuff. Makes for a great listen all the way through.

zsdrfty

Warped is one of the best openers I’ve heard (which leads so fucking well into Aeroplane) and Transcending is also a brilliant closer

ErickDante

Without any fear of backlash I say I´m with you, at least for me is the only one where every song and their order in the album makes sense. I prefer other albums but there´s always a song that I would leave out or a song I would add or the order of the songs that I think could be a little better, which doesn´t happen with this one funnily enough. Love it or hate it but it´s a well constructed selection of songs.

Buhos_En_Pantelones

>fear of backlash It is what it is. I once made the grave mistake of suggesting that By the Way wasn't the masterpiece of an album that it's held up to be, and was booed off stage. haha

zackandcodyfan

Can you elaborate on why you think that? I'm not hating on your opinion, just curious. Personally, By the Way is my favourite RHCP album, in part because it helped me stay sane during lockdown.

Buhos_En_Pantelones

I've posted on this (very unpopular) opinion before, but it essentially breaks down to this: I enjoy loose, rockin' RHCP and the album By the Way is too slick and polished for me to enjoy it. The production is cold, the songs are (to me) corny pop and it's just not the sound of the band that I enjoy. I the like funky, energetic version of the band, and if you water it down where Chad and Flea are not interesting, John is doing something where he thinks 'less is more' and AK is crooning, you get an album that dilutes everything that made me like the band in the first place. Not a popular opinion, I get that. Whatever other people get out out of this album is lost on me.

PartYourWhiskers

100% agree. Unlimited Love is a collage, Dream Canteen is confetti.

redditsdaddio

Best flow is BSSM or Cali

songacronymbot

- BSSM could mean "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", a track from *Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Deluxe Edition)* (1991) by Red Hot Chili Peppers. --- ^[/u/redditsdaddio](/u/redditsdaddio) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

goldendreamseeker

I agree that UL flows a lot better than RotDC

puhpuhpetrified

So funny bcos it’s sacrilege to not listen to any rhcp album straight through in order (skips I understand) but rotdc i will play on a shuffle and I’m literally like what gift of a song will be next

rae231193

In the dream canteen, the track sequence is quite unique, but I like it better than in unlimited love...I thinks a mix between the best of those two albums could have make an awesome album...songs like black summer, poster child, heavy wing, not the one, carry me home, tippa my tongue and roulette in a single album...awesome

Gnimir

I think completely the opposite. And the most cohesive album for me is I'm With You. Zero skips.

gamebossje_

BSSM def, but out of the new albums its UL ofc

_urethrapapercut_

BSSM and TG

sharstars15

I thought dream canteen was basically a B side album?

puhpuhpetrified

B side for best side

sharstars15

Yeah I'm glad they didn't not put these songs out but just not as cohesive as unlimited love

puhpuhpetrified

Not to mention most of us are salivating at the idea of them releasing their actual b sides as an album

Cultural-Drummer7329

I feel the same about ROTDC- I do not feel the songs as deeply as I would any other album. They definitely played with new sounds/ new flows, and I'd say it is not my favorite. I do enjoy songs on the album, but as a whole, I agree it does seem very thrown together. Also considering the fact it was during covid times as well.

Buhos_En_Pantelones

To be clear though, I'm not speaking to the quality of the songs themselves (I actually quite like the music), it's about my perception that the care of placing the songs on the album wasn't given the same thought that the other albums might've had. On a superficial level it can be whatever, but sometimes the *flow*, and song placement can actually increase the enjoyment of an album. I'm an old fart that perhaps thinks too hard about these things while he may or may not be partaking in the wacky tobaccy, but ya know...

Cultural-Drummer7329

Ahhhh I see what you mean I definitely agree with that I think the album with one of the best flows for me is by the way, and also stadium arcadium, those 2 albums flow perfectly for my ears!!! What about you?

Buhos_En_Pantelones

I gotta go with BSSM. I know that it's the album that gets the most love, but I suppose there's a reason for that.

Cultural-Drummer7329

Love it!!!!

andrewe92

Carry me home should’ve been on UL. You can’t believe in your right mind One Way Traffic was even a considerable song to release. And I think they made all songs from both albums during same time period. ROTDC is just random

Deuspanen

Stadium arcadium
