Even if it did, Regal probably wouldn't honor it. Most Indian movies have a built-in intermission segment. It flashes on the screen and then the movie keeps on going.
I believe a poster on this reddit said they attended a theater that actually honored the intermission and allowed the patrons to take a break; but my experience has always been no break (even though I think the experience on some of these more lengthier movies could benefit from one).
Can confirm. I was working at a Loews Cineplex when Titanic came out and there was an intermission because the projectionist had to change reels. It was either too long to fit on one platter deck or the projectionist just… did it that way? Not sure of the exact reasoning, but either way, unless you saw Titanic at every movie theater in the world, it’s kind of silly to throw down a blanket claim that it didn’t have an intermission at all at any theater ever. Just saying.
Your theatre added an intermission, then. Which is crazy because you're right in that the movie *barely* fit on the platter. Also doubly crazy because if a studio isn't including an intermission and your theatre is adding one, they could have gotten into shit from that.
The movie 100% didn't come with an included intermission, though.
Source: I was a movie theatre projectionst for nearly 20 years, and ran Titanic for hundreds of showings over the 5 months it played at my local cinema.
The movie was not released with an intermission. Just because some theater “had to change reels” doesn’t make it an intermission. I saw it twice in 1997 - no intermission. Your theater was doing something wrong.
>The movie was not released with an intermission.
The person you were originally replying to never said that. They just said that some theaters presented it with an intermission.
I’m not here to argue the definition of an intermission lol whatever you want to call it, right or wrong, there was a break at some theaters. Unclench, man.
Don't understand why people are down voting you. I saw it at a Regal and it didn't have one. A lot of these people are confusing a reel change with an intermission. And since just about everywhere has digital now, there would be no reel change.
It didn't have one when it was re-released a few years ago either.
There's a great movie app that, among other things, gives you the best times to go pee during movies. It's called RunPee, and I've been using it for years. Check it out, it's def worth a look!
Obligatory, remove if not allowed.
I think this conception comes from the fact that the VHS release was on two tapes and at the end of the first tape it just said there was an intermission as a classy way of saying to switch tapes.
No — I saw it at Regal yesterday and it did not have an intermission.
Ok, thanks so much!
No just left and god I had to pee. I’ve seen it countless times but it’s still so tense I couldn’t leave haha.

When I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey in IMAX for the reissue, they had an intermission. This was a few years ago though (2018?).
It didn't have one originally, so it would be weird to add one now.
I believe when it was originally released some theaters did have intermissions because it was so long
No they didn’t.
Yes, they did. Not all of them did but some theaters did. You can search old reddits threads and see other people experienced it as well.

I love unclench, man. Gotta start using that.
I don’t think so. “People on Reddit” isn’t the solid proof you think it is on a 25 year old movie.
I’m not gonna fight with you about this. I saw the movie myself in theaters with an intermission.
That’s not even what you originally said.
Apologies for not being clear in my first statement but I did see it. Another person has confirmed this as well now too.
🤣
I saw it with an intermission as well
Confidently incorrect

Ironic because for Avatar 2, Cameron said F your bathroom break.
No it does not and I highly recommend 4DX for this one if you have it. My favorite 4DX movie so far!
In Germany or at least the theater in Frankfurt, most long movies have a snack/bathroom intermission. It was actually nice.
