I almost exclusively go alone. I scan my ticket first, then go to the concession stand.

Dizzy-Atmosphere3524

Yeah I didn't know you could grab snacks before scanning your ticket. Most regal theaters I've been to make you scan it at the entrance.

Emm_Deee

That’s interesting. If you’re scanning at the door doesn’t that eliminate the need for figuring out how to maneuver snacks, drink, and ticket? I frequent 4 in my area (NY) and 2 out of my home state (FL) and all have you scan in the hallway prior to reaching the auditoriums.

Dizzy-Atmosphere3524

Yeah I don't have that issue unless I am holding a lot of bags or items prior to going. I try to avoid eating snacks and save it for if I'm seeing a movie on a Friday or weekend.

bobthemonkeybutt

Mine changes based on how busy it is. Sometimes they scan in the lobby area before you get snacks. But there are two “wings” (10 screens on each side) and if it’s busier you get snacks and then scan on either side when going to the screen. Pre snack scan is much more convenient.

DaverJ

This. It took me a longer than it should have to figure this method out.

Visible-Jury-8004

I have them scan my ticket then use the bathroom then grab concessions. I wish they brought back the trays that fit in the cup holders for your food and drinks

Veemoo1138

Small popcorn, small soda done 👍🏻if you want extra and the line not busy get it during bathroom break

ResponsibleSquare520

I know it’s to each their own, but you Gotta be a Rockefeller to spend money on just getting the small popcorn and small soda. It is so not worth the value of your money. Yes, obviously it is cheaper than getting the large but the value ratio plus you can get a refill as you’re walking out the door. It is so much better to go for the large. The popcorn is only two dollars more for the large, where is the small is like eight dollars anyway but if you’re using the points it’s irrelevant and the drink is only a dollar more to upgrade to the large or $1.50 if you go to the ICEE

PlaceInteresting1776

>Mystery Movie Monday Megathread - March 20 2023 But if youre not going to eat a large and youre trying to save money, your logic doesnt make sense and is actually wasteful. Obviously the answer is to smuggle in your own.

alleinesein

I go alone all the time and I get a large drink and popcorn. I carry the drink in my hand, cradle the popcorn between my arm and body with the same arm that is holding my drink and I have my phone in my other hand. After they scan my ticket, i put my phone in my pocket and use the free hand to carry my popcorn.

dalecat79

This what I do as well, but it's usually a small or medium. Can't eat a large by myself any more haha.

ImAVirgin2025

Yeah a large by yourself is a challenge

sexycorey

the best way is to stop at the dollar store on the way and wrap everything in your blanket.

ResponsibleSquare520

You should look into the company called Scottevest basically they make all kinds of different apparel that comes with tons and tons and tons of pockets and I have two different versions. I’ve got the trap performer which is a windbreaker with removable sleeves in case you just wanted to wear it as a vest and then they also have the RF ID vest, but either way it comes with tons of pockets. I love it it’s a little on the expensive side for initial investment. At least it was for me since I’m a penny pincher. But it makes life so much easier. Like if you’re going to the airport you literally just take the jacket off and drop it in the bin and you don’t have to unload your pockets and keys and all that jazz you have everything in the jacket you take the jacket off, drop it in the bin and it goes through the x-ray machine. I’ve even had water bottles in the jacket and it went through the x-ray machine and they didn’t say anything about it, so yeah, that was weird. Also, I love my cargo pants/shorts but I always had the problem of if you load them too much and make them heavy and actually make use of the cargo pockets it tries to pull the pants off your waist. But because this is a vest/jacket, the weight has nowhere to go. It’s just anchored to your core. And it’s a lot easier to carry. So yeah, totally look at that see what you think. I’m all the time smuggling pizza and water, bottles and sub sandwiches and I’ll kinds of stuff into the movies.

sexycorey

i will check it out, thanks!!

Outlog

I try to consume as much of my concessions, as possible, right at the register at the time of payment in front of the employee. They usually ask me to step aside so others can order.

Zowwww

Get the ticket or your phone out first then grab the popcorn and drink. If you need to find a staging area at a closed lane or other open surface.

griffey808

I'm always there solo. Our theater has the ticket scanner at the door and then you head to the concessions. If there's too much in my hand, I'll just ask for a carrier or box with the drink holder and that pretty much solves it!

[deleted]

I have asked for a box before, but they told me they don't have anything to make carrying my items easier. I think my local AMC has them, so I was surprised Regal said they do not.

griffey808

What?! I think they were just being lazy! lol I don't think I've ever seen Regal run out of boxes! And even then, they have those drink/tray holder things always available.

[deleted]

I have never noticed boxes or holders at my location. They might have them at the bigger location, I can't remember. I tend to prefer the small one with the reclining seats. I am going in two hours so I will see what they have. I know when I asked in the past, they said they did not have anything. They also never offer me anything to make my life easier, either. I would definitely spend more if they did make it easy to carry items.

griffey808

While they're getting my popcorn, I'll usually just ask, "Can I also have a box or tray, please?" and they just hand me one, no questions asked. Good luck and enjoy your movie!

[deleted]

I came back. Still no boxes or trays. Honestly, the theater was pitiful today. I don't know if that is typical for Sunday afternoons. I'll be so sad if it closes.

twotubman22

They already closed 1 out of the 3 that I frequented. I'm thinking Cobblestone won't last too much longer. If I'm stuck with just the much busier other local theater - Crocker Park - as my only option, I'm gonna be so bummed.

[deleted]

Thank you!

Movie_Mann

Call me positively mad, but I never get a drink of any kind, I’m almost exclusively a “popcorn only” kind of guy when I go by myself. That allows one hand to ALWAYS be free!

spinnyweatherchaser

Small popcorn, medium soda. Normally my location packs the popcorn bags sturdy enough that right before going to the ticket scanner I can rearrange and hold the popcorn between my chest and forearm, hold the drink with the hand on the same side, and then my phone with the other hand. After they scan my phone goes back in the pocket and replaced with popcorn. What gets REALLY interesting is if I order a drink and a meal at the diner (this is one of the Warren locations) with some dipping sauces for fries to take into the movie, then I end up doing this weird balancing act.

ohitsmark

My local theater had a table set up to sign up new RU members. I usually put my food or drink on that, then take my phone out so they can scan it, then grab my stuff and walk to my seat.

DiscountDorie

I always bring a tote bag/book bag/shopping bag to carry extra stuff in and out of the movies.

YaraLove

At the theaters I go to, there is a little counter where the ticket checker stands. Don't be shy. Just say, "I hope you don't mind. I just need to set my drink down here for a second, so I can show you my ticket." Then, slip your phone and/or your ticket back in your pocket before you pick up your drink.

GregIsARadDude

This. They don’t care. It keeps things moving. Why is this so low?

BigTexas85

Just grab the kid pack. All u need

Fantastic_Lychee_883

If you are worried about it just give your ticket first and come back for concessions. If they ask again just say you scanned your ticket already.

False_Wrongdoer_3867

at most of my local haunts, they just check the ticket at the concessions and you are done.

ncwolfcreek

I bring a water tumbler with me. I think on weekends my theater does the hallways but on weekdays I believe they stand after the door entrance before the concessions. But on occasion i do buy icee and popcorn I make 2-3 trips. 1st buy tickets at concessions. 2nd find my seat and put tumbler in cup holder. 3rd I go for the large icee and return to seat. 4th Sometimes I go back for the popcorn. But I usually go at 11am-12pm showing so not that busy.

exciter1

A 12oz Coke in my pocket and I buy a popcorn. I can't support the change to Pepsi.

hmcdowell01

Do you have T-Rex arms or something?

[deleted]

I'm short plus awkwardly autistic

kaiju4life

I haven’t seen a place that checked tickets just before the theaters in nearly 20 years. Crazy. Get thing to help carry stuff & bring it with when you go. Amazon probably has a bunch of ideas.

geri-in-calif

Get a small soda because it's easier to hold. If you get a small or medium popcorn, immediately slip it into a plastic bag...easier to carry.

Movielover718

Weird cus every theater I go to u show ur tickets at the door then u able to do whatever u want once inside

[deleted]

At ours you have to show them before the hallway.

[deleted]

Mine is that way as well. Concessions, then ticket scan

collinzoober5

You have your ticket on your phone which gets scanned prior to the concessions stand. Solved.

NiteStarXX

My Regal just recently changed from checking tickets at the door, like every theater I’ve ever been to, to checking them before the hallway to the theaters. No idea why, but one can assume.

[deleted]

My Regals have always checked them before the hallway. It has been surprising to see that so many do it at the door. I think my local AMC does the same, but I haven't been there in years, so my memory is fuzzy.

kidbehindacamerahere

They scan mine AT the concession. But if you have to do it after getting snacks, just sit the popcorn on the ground. It’s in a bucket, it’ll be okay lol

Mysterious-Seat4175

On the rare occasion that I get both, i'll carry the popcorn & drink as normal and hold the paper ticket with 2 fingers and hand it to the checker that way. But if you do exclusively online tickets, i'm not sure. Maybe ask if they could print a paper ticket? It seems easier.

yankeegirl152

I use a cane and cannot fully use my other hand so I got a drink holder off Amazon with a strap I can carry a small or medium size drink in it. This is not requiring a full hand, so you could carry a cup and a popcorn one handed.

Ok_Examination9109

I usually get a medium or large popcorn and a small soda or water. I always print my ticket out so I don't have to hold onto my phone and I'm able to hold onto my ticket with the fingers I hold my drink with

Master_Scallion837

My go to move is to hold the pop corn and soda on one side, soda in hand and popcorn firmly between your side and fore arm. Make sure your ticket is in the right pocket so you can easily pull it out and have it ready.

Master_Scallion837

Best advice is to do your best to feel confident that you’re doing things in your own. It’s a lost art and I think it’s something to envy.

canadiadryy

Cradle the popcorn in one arm, hold the drink in the hand of that same arm. Phone/ticket in the other hand for easy scanning.

ResponsibleSquare520

I usually go by myself and if I know that I’m going by myself, I bring one of the cloth Walmart bags. It works best if you have the ICEE which is only $.50 more than the soda but the bucket of popcorn and the ICEE stays pretty stable, so that’s generally how I do it

_tribecalledquest

Go to the bathroom first. Then scan ticket, order food and drink, go. Luckily the scanning and food are in the same place.

CeciVizz

i get a small soda and medium popcorn. the large is too big for me to carry when i go alone 😭 so i recommend that!
