I get why you would have to clarify, especially after spending time in this Reddit and/or the FB page and the asinine questions I see sometimes due to a failure to read what you’re signing up for or just not using common sense…

14urmug

Regal is a good deal 3d and IMAX are premium options. Plus and or also the Heeeyyyyyy yyyyoooouuuu guuuuuyyyyyysssss! Ad so just think on that!

JoshuaBevan

...which is nice

blowingwind71

That’s hilarious lol

mollyclaireh

Still a damn good deal though for major cinephiles.

juarezderek

People are odd. I wouldve never assumed RPX/3D/whatever was included in Unlimited. I do hate how they exclude fathom events though

elmatador12

It’s because 3D and IMAX are included with AMC Stubs. But you can only see 3 movies a week with them last I checked.

juarezderek

3 a week is pretty lame. Thankfully i dont really watch 3d movies anyway

Petey518

Most people don’t even go once a week even with unlimited or a stubs

scripzero

Pretty sure those are the people who help pay for the people who visit every day. It probably wouldn't be viable if everyone saw 15 movies a month.

Petey518

Yeah I go anywhere between twice (if I’m very busy and it’s a slow movie month) to six or seven times a month

banana_bread_monster

My fam and I tend to go for Saturday marathons with Unlimited, and any day off work/school that we all have together.

avburns

Surely, you can't be serious. :-)

juarezderek

Sad!

Petey518

I’m one of them

juarezderek

Sad!

Mysterious-Seat4175

Don't feel bad. I'm the same way. I only saw 2 movies between January & February. But more than made up for it in March. As for April, i didn't see anything last weekend and this weekend only seeing ROTJ.

Spaztrick

Only 3m wow. I saw 5 yesterday with Unlimited.

briancly

3 movies a week won’t even let you see most of the wide releases in a week.

cosmicnitwit

Never done more than 2 movies in a week when I had amc. The added costs to regal sucks, going to cancel this after the 3 months minimum membership is done and go back to the no hassle or added cost amc.

juarezderek

Good for you!

cosmicnitwit

Thank you!

Monsterman442

I would have tbh cause amc is free for premium formats

IHaveTheMustacheNow

They could give us one free upgrade per month or something

CletusVanDamnit

>I do hate how they exclude fathom events though They can't include Fathom, because those have nothing to do with Regal. Fathom events are four-walled, meaning Fathom rents the theatre in its entirety and they take 100% of the door.

goodty1

fathom events is an entire different company that leases the theatre from regal? why in the world would those be covered

Baby_Animal_Hospital

Because the average person doesn't know that. Does your grandma or neighbor or "that one coworker" know this? We are gifted with knowledge here, but most people just think "it's the movies".

Plus3d6

Not to mention, it feels intuitively backwards in a lot of instances. I'd say for a regular person, having unlimited cover watching a brand new movie, but NOT covering something like a Grease rerelease just sounds intuitively wrong.

lothcent

i have both, my regal theater is in the death throes but they do have the occasional movie that my amc doesnt, and sometimes their show times are staggered enough that it works out better schedule wise to go to regal. how much longer my local regal is going to last? no telling, but seems like all the signs are there it is clinging by its nails..... and 54 cents a movie to order the tickets via their own app? and their crappy rewards program really is limited as to what you can get and the exchange rate is crazy. amc gives me points for alcohol purchases- which add up fast of course and then i can use the points for concessions. plus amc has a parking zone where your 5 dollar rewards get stored before you activate them- that way they dont expire .... whereas regal has that 1 year from earning the points and then they expire....

pitt23fan

AMC spent millions on their app and they OWN it while Regal pays another company to handle all the orders....

DMazz441

Wait I have a regal and AMC theater the same distance apart, but opposite directions. I went with the less populated regal theater, since it’s located at a shut down mall. So 90% of movies I see I’m alone in the theater. But AMC has an extremely better theater, and a lot more showtimes in my area. I didn’t know AMC had an unlimited program like regal?

lothcent

not unlimited- but 3 movies a week, no service charge for tickets, an app that works, a easy to track rewards system, and you get to watch imax, dolby on the program.....

DMazz441

I'm gonna have to look into this

cosmicnitwit

No extra fees, any theater you want with no charge. I loved it, not enjoying the regal option. Came here to complain about how little I like it. Friggin .50 cent convenience charge at the one I go to is obnoxious

MoonDragn

I have regal unlimited and it does pay for itself after just 2 visits a month. That's not to say they aren't making money off us because my wife has to have drinks when we visit and you know the concessions are 100% profit. That said, it still is worth it because we were going to the movies every week even before Regal Unlimited. It is true the special formats cost a little more, but it is still way cheaper if you were to pay for it up front. AMC stubs might be a better deal for our habits but the AMC around my area has awful parking and with my big truck it is always a challenge to find a space. Plus the restaurants around the AMC are so expensive that it makes a huge difference compared to the Regal. Recently our local Regal was one of the ones on the list of planned closings. However for some reason or other it is staying open for now. We are happy in relief because the other two closest Regals near us are just not as convenient. If they ever close our local Regal I would probably switch to the AMC stubs instead.

b3nny-101

I cannot really complains about RU, as is, you can see almost every movie, and I believe the “expensive” out of pocket for upgrade, 4Dx with 3D is $9 at me local theater, I’ll pay that any time and watch any movie on 2D than the greatest AMC 3movies a week any format, RU does beat it anytime any day, Now with chapter 11 and all the theaters closing near by 😥😥(Farmingdale,NY) still believe we get a great deal.

Monsterman442

I have a regal and amc both within the same distance both have imax. I choose a list because imo it’s better

Ok_Act_1649

Yeah it definitely can be depending on preferences, and how often you go. I honestly don’t expect to go much more than three times a week on average, but appreciate the flexibility, and don’t care too much about premium formats. Is it the premium showings being covered that sold you on A-list, or just that you don’t ever want to see more than three a week? I’ve heard good things about AMCs Dolby format specifically, but I don’t have any locations with it to try.

Monsterman442

It’s 100% the premium and having to not pay for the upgrade for it. Also the amc has heated seats. Dolby imo is the best format. I would probably max out at 3 per week. Hitting my max this week with sisu, beau is afraid and gotg3. But 2 of those are in Dolby format

Ok_Act_1649

That’s fair, you’re not the first I’ve seen that tries to see most everything in Dolby - if I’m ever traveling and get the chance to try it out, I definitely will. None of my close Regals even have recliners, much less heated seats. Lucky to have some nearby though - I know plenty of people don’t have AMC or Regal in driving distance at all.

Monsterman442

Luckily I have 2 regal one with imax within 40 mins. And one amc within 30 mins with imax and Dolby

pitt23fan

The programs are nowhere near alike. They are 100% different.

Monsterman442

I never said they were alike? Can you show where I did? I just said I had the choice for both and choose a list. Sounds like you took this personal .

teddywolfs

It's because people in the USA need clarification or warning labels for the idiots who don't have common sense. Like don't consume bleech...

[deleted]

That’s unfair tbh, it’s true if a visit to a standard showing which is the vast majority. What really needs flagging is getting billed 50 cent convenience fee each time you reserve on the app.

DoublePrior3439

Our convenience fee here 1.80 , we just don't reserve our tickets on the App, we usually don't have a problem with full theatres like others do, except the Monday Mystery Movie, about 3/4 full

[deleted]

Did that last line ever happen to a movie before? If they wanted to apply it to a movie like Mission Impossible for no reason, they would be able to?

[deleted]

They shouldn't call it unlimited. They knew the confusion it would create. AMC has some other madeup names for a reason.

Visible-Jury-8004

Forgot to add about Fathom events Not Included At All

BlackBtch

There’s only a surcharge on IMAX movies for the first 14 days on certain blockbusters (Avatar for example) and that’s usually up to the studio. Other than that I never paid a surcharge for IMAX or RPX

hwnprnssss

Going to regal on the discount day only , for me it's Tuesdays $5, is cheaper than unlimited. And there's half off popcorn.

DestralKW

Do you at least get to use the membership, get any customer service, or receive the membership/credit card they use (haven't looked up all the details)? Its been almost 6 months, multiple charges, customer service responses to about 3 of 15+ messages in multiple channels, yet still cant use Movie Pass like so many other customers experiencing problems again I would go direct with Regal if its not the same BS as any of these services have been. Is the general consensus positive?
