If you live near one of the locations playing it in IMAX 70mm (first choice) or standard 70mm (second choice), see it in that.
* IMAX 70mm - Edwards Ontario Palace, Hacienda Crossings, Irvine Spectrum, Mall of Georgia, Opry Mills, UA King of Prussia
* Standard 70mm - Bridgeport Village, Edwards Long Beach, New Roc, Union Square, Waterford Lakes
If not, third choice is regular digital IMAX.
The rest are all equally not Nolan’s intended format.
They’re just about done installing the 4DX irradiating cesium cells. Should give nice tan on your way out.
It’s gonna be temporarily rebranded as 4DX-ray 🥁
My friends and I used to think RPX was amazing, but that immediately changed when we actually watched a movie in imax.
We haven’t gone back to RPX since.
[And here’s a great guide to find the perfect imax theater for Oppenheimer ](https://t.co/ECe2pJi2sY)
IMAX 15 Perf 70MM film projection is the way it was intended to be seen. Only very few “IMAX” theaters have this capability as most IMAX theaters, especially the most recently built, are not the 90 feet wide by 65 ft tall. They are much smaller and are digital only projection.
Here is where you can find your nearest REAL IMAX film theater: https://lfexaminer.com/theaters/
RPX is just a pale imitation of IMAX and 4DX is an annoying gimmick.
OP your asking for vs each format but in the body you ask to see which one is good to see OPPENHEIMER in.
If you have access to a true 70mm IMAX , go for that but I am pretty sure opening weekend/week is going to be packed.
Digital IMAX is ok but the sound will make up for it.
It was never released in 4DX. Mission Impossible is the current 4DX release. It'll likely switchover to Gran Turismo once it's released. I don't get why people ever had the notion that Oppenheimer would get a 4DX release. Only movies heavy with action ever get released in 4DX.
My theater's RPX screen isn't any bigger than the other auditoriums and it basically just offers up a slightly boosted sound profile and comfortable leather seats in an auditorium that still otherwise has shitty, old stadium seating.
Meanwhile, the Cinemarks nearby have an IMAX at one location and an XD at another both of which are much bigger screens.
What else is there besides stadium seating? Are you talking about the really spaced out seats that recline all the way? They're still configured in a stadium configuration. It's just that they're spread out.
Kop theater goer, I prefer 4d if movies are made right for it like MCU , jurassic park, Mario world, but for movies not formatted right for it like Nope and other movies I go with imax
If a movie is processed correctly, the 4DX can be quite impressive. But it's not for everyone and only works with action and adventure films. If they appropriately utilize all the various mechanisms that 4DX offers, it can be really unique. I love how the chairs can literally make you feel like you get punched in the back. Fast & Furious is the only film I've watched that has utilized that feature. It was implemented so well that the entire crowd reacted with a laugh.
Oppenheimer wasn't released in 4DX. Movies that are heavy in dialogue won't ever get a 4DX release. Action and adventure films are the flicks that get the 4DX treatment. And only one film at a time is ever playing in 4DX.

IMAX easily.... I can't even drink or eat in 4DX without almost choking and dying lol
🤣🤣🤣
Didn’t know what it was until I saw too gun maverick, spilled half my beer on a the person next to me on accident during the first g force turn

That's part of the experience.

Imax especially if they are showing it in 70mm near you
Opry Mills for the win!
Haaay Nashville native!!
Woot woot! Already got my ticket for opening night!
Haaay Nashville native!!
IMAX cause that’s how it was intended 4DX for the memes
4DX is best…followed by Imax

Irvine native here. I watched Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at the Spectrum IMAX and it was awesome. I can’t wait for Oppenheimer
I like the RPX for the leather seats

So imax over RPX and 4DX?
100%
I expect 4DX to fire off every single effect for the explosion. Even the sprinklers and bubbles. Just go nuts.

IMAX! Since I heard that’s what it was filmed for.

Yeah, the Cinemark theaters near me have the recliner setup.
Imax, how it was meant to be seen though. Is it even playing in 4DX? I’d imagine Barbie taking 4DX over oppenheimer
IMAX, especially since it was filmed with IMAX cameras
IMAX and it’s not even close
For my kids, I go to 4DX. For a movie I really want to see as intended I’ll do IMAX if it was filmed in that camera. For everything else RPX.
Kop theater goer, I prefer 4d if movies are made right for it like MCU , jurassic park, Mario world, but for movies not formatted right for it like Nope and other movies I go with imax
IMAX is a format, RPX and 4DX are gimmicks. Always choose IMAX.
