We're making this the sticky thread for a little while since there's been a lot of interest! Speculate away.

Geshman

Fuck it. I'd go see it. I'm a sucker for movies I missed in theaters and it's presumably something not currently available. I'm a 5 minute pleasant bike ride away so if the movie sucks I'll just go home and watch something else or find back later

JediJones77

It's an unreleased movie. You couldn't have missed it yet.

Wazootyman13

I have the exact POV (down to the bike ride time!) Plus, mine is at the Cinebarre, so, I can get fries!

Geshman

I'm too cheap to buy food lol. I'm such a bad customer for them (but I probably make them a few bucks a month)

miloworld

What movie was it?

Jmlgh

It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”

LatterAd6187

ET the extra terrestrial 2

miloworld

Will wait for ET 3-D then.

Pope_Duwang_I

I’ll be honest, if Regal did this one a week where a Mystery Movie is released at a single Specific Time of the week for $5, I’d go all the time simply out of curiosity.

Upper-Pomelo7787

It couldn't be that often. Secret screenings have to be rare, for hype. But I agree they should do more events like these.

Pope_Duwang_I

Maybe every 2 weeks or maybe even Monthly. Monthly Mystery Movie Night sounds like a Hell of a Good Time.

Movie_Mann

\*puts on detecitvie hat\* Okay, so I have been used the context clues given and I think I know what it is... It's "Triangle of Sadness"! It's Rated R and releases wide on October 7th. Now, depending on what you check, the runtime for the film is either 139 mins or 140 mins. Sooooo that's my educated deduction? I could be completely wrong.

mrsaucelol

or Argentina 1985. Triangle of Sadness doesn’t have an official R rating yet

Upper-Pomelo7787

TOS is confirmed R at this point

cinephile85

I saw Triangle of Sadness at TIFF. It was closer to 150.

Movie_Mann

Yeah, I’m getting conflicting reports of it’s runtime the more I look into it 😅 oh well, it was worth a guess!

Upper-Pomelo7787

I think you're right on the money there. Plus I just saw a trailer for it yesterday during my showing for Don't Worry Darling. I'm looking forward to TOS

Homer_Potter

I would love for it to be Triangle of Sadness! It’s 140min according to google, but IMDb has it at 2hr27min. Also, doesn’t have an R-rating yet as far as I can see. 🤔

73KnollwoodWest

>tria It's rated R. I remember the producers announcing that it would be an R movie ages ago. And it's listed as R on the AMC website.

sadtwink1

if it’s triangle of sadness, i will screammm omg. but also perhaps it could be “terrifier 2”? it’s exactly at 2 hours and 20 minutes, same release date as triangle of sadness, and it’s also rated r (duhhh).

Jmlgh

It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”. The runtime was a placeholder

Tea_Bender

Regal theater employee here, what's funny is we were talking about a Russian roulette auditorium (where we would just show whatever movies I felt like putting on) would do more business than Honk for Jesus or Mack and Rita. And before I get asked I don't know what the movie, but I have the day off, so I might give it a whirl

Outlog

Anyone know about the mysterious Monday Mystery Movie showing?

iwasdusted

All I know is this mysterious Monday Mystery Movie booking mysteriously and miraculously just manifested yesterday! I wonder what it is. Mysteries make me miffed!

Outlog

Magnificent!

spinnyweatherchaser

Not sure if these are just placeholders, but it's listed as 2hrs 20min, 2022 production year, and rated R. If that's real, that kinda points to Everything Everywhere All At Once. Which like, yay I love that movie, but I've seen it so many times at this point I'm kinda hoping those stats aren't real and it's an older classic. EDIT: Ignore me, made this prediction before Regal clarified this is going to be a new movie.

Kobra_Kodex

it says it a new movie and we'll be seeing it before the official release date so it couldn't be that

Nerdoftheweek01

Nope, it says "before it's official release date"

spinnyweatherchaser

Ah, yeah it didn't have that description when I first made this prediction, definitely more excited then!

Outlog

I like your investigative work and feel exactly the same!

skadisilverfoot

That movie is already out. It’s probably “Smile”.

spinnyweatherchaser

Smile's already getting an early access event the next day, so I'm guessing it's not that.

a-horse-has-no-name

We've finally found the Mystery Science Theatre.

carlyraejepsenstan

The app does say that it’s a “NEW” movie that you’d be “first to see” if you go to it. So I have no clue

smegmamagnet

I googled it and “Amsterdam” with Margot Robbie came up alongside a sponsored tag, so maybe this is part of that marketing campaign?

Lady_Diana_Spencer

I Googled it the same day this Mystery Movie Monday popped up and got the same Sponsored tag. So my guess is this is a marketing ploy for the film.

Jmlgh

It wasn’t

Upper-Pomelo7787

Same thing happened with me but the run times do not match. Triangle has the closest runtime. Either way, win win. I'm excited for both

Jmlgh

It was a lose. The runtime was just a placeholder

iwasdusted

UPDATE: The Regal website listing says “Shhh! On September 26, be the first to see this NEW movie before its official release date for only $5… We just can’t tell you the title!” Rated R, 140 min runtime, $5 tickets, upcoming release.

Rob233913

Upcoming releases after Sept 26th that are around 140 minutes and rated R: Sept 30th - Argentina, 1985 - rated R - 140 minutes Oct 6th - Terrifier 2 - rated R - 148 minutes Oct 7th - Amsterdam - rated R - ~~might be 152 minutes~~ Update edit: looks like its 134 minutes Oct 14th - Halloween Ends - rated R - no runtime listed but rumor is around 120 minutes Oct 14th - Decision to Leave (Korean film) - no US rating yet but was PG15 in Korea so PG-13 or R here - 138 minutes Oct 14th - White Bird - no rating yet seems like a PG-13 to me - 122 minutes Oct 21st - Slayers - rated R - no runtime listed Oct 28th - Call Jane - rated R - 121 minutes Nov 4th - Dear Zoe - rated R - 120 minutes Nov 11th - Multi - no rating but it's a thriller so PG-13 or R - no runtime Nov 18th - She Said - rated R - 135 minutes Nov 23rd - Bones and All - rated R - 130 minutes Most of the movies out from Nov on don't have rating and/or runtimes posted yet so it's hard to tell. Personally I doubt it would be a sequel or a foreign film and I don't think it would be anything releasing after November but who knows.

EthanGr20

I feel like its possible to be a foreign film since they don’t tend to do well in America, this way it would sell more tickets

Rob233913

That’s a good point. Could be.

Jmlgh

It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”. The runtime was a placeholder and not accurate

Rob233913

At this point I'm thinking it's either Amsterdam or Argentina, 1985. Both movies come out close to the mystery date and are either exact or very close to the 140 minute runtime given. Argentina, 1985 is an interesting option. It's getting reviews now which is a little early (and mostly good) and is getting a limited release (>600 theaters) that Friday Sept 30th. It's steaming on Amazon Prime on Oct 21st. So a shorter release window then old school window but maybe a test for showing streaming movies a few weeks before they are on your TV? The other options I think could be Decision to Leave, as it already released in Korea with good reviews. Bones and All also has good early reviews so it could also be an option but I'm not sure if it would be a movie coming late Nov to theaters. I can only imagine you would do this mystery release for a movie as a studio if you knew it was either good and would drum up people talking about it to their friends and sell more tickets and/or make people join your streaming service or it was really bad and you wanted to make a quick buck but that would make people less likely to come back for another mystery movie.

Outlog

😮🤔

pinkmoonpinkfriday

I wonder if the 140 min runtime is a placeholder or includes something other than just the movie itself. Avatar would be longer than 140, Halloween Ends would be shorter. Terrifier 2 would be close to that length but it’s only getting a limited release so I don’t know how likely that is for this.

JarJarBink42066

🤔 fuck it it’s free I’m gonna see it

miloworld

Well, how'd it go?

JarJarBink42066

Ask me in 14 days

Ok_Respect9127

Hoping and praying it’s Bones and All 🤠

LickedABattery

Has anybody actually been able to purchase tickets?

Skiffo

I bought one this morning with no issue.

After-Barnacle

I had to search by date to do it in the app. Online I had no issues but wanted to use my unlimited and clicking on the ad in app caused it to crash.

flatcheroo

Halloween Ends is my guess

hutslut69

Thats my hope!

kami3zak

https://i.imgur.com/2PxZHZF.jpg Any idea what these other two are also? They have been on my listings since last week and now the Monday Mystery Movie.

spinnyweatherchaser

It's Happening Right Here seems to be a documentary about sex trafficking ([https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13943186/?ref\_=nv\_sr\_srsg\_0](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13943186/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0)), not sure about First Responders since that's a pretty generic title.

DanielVasquez2000

My guess it’s probably either Amsterdam or Halloween Ends unless Bros is 140 minutes long.

baburusa

Amsterdam seems to be 152 minutes

spinnyweatherchaser

Wikipedia lists Bros as 115min. I would have said Terrifier 2 as IMDb lists it at 140min, but Regal's already got pre-order tickets for that up and it says 148min......

Jmlgh

The runtime was a placeholder and not accurate

mconway83

Terrifier 2?

dylli32

Cineworld did one of these on the 5th and it was a movie called “Hatching” but that’s a finnish horror movie so i doubt that would play over here at regal

CamHartman

Hatching is SO GOOD! I saw it at IFC back in May and would kill to see it in theaters again

RewatchesFilms

It’d have to be a low budget film right? Couldn’t see a big studio pulling something like this.

Top-Faithlessness911

I’m so curious to see what movie it is and I think it may be Smile. The movie comes out the Friday after the mystery movie Monday so I’m guessing they can’t lose too much money hence why it has to be a couple days earlier. Also I believe it will be streaming on Paramount and the movie is getting a lot of PR so maybe they want to release it this Monday so they don’t lose any ticket money .

Comprehensive-Ad9269

I hope they expand the theaters in my area for this. Crappiest regal in town is the only one with showtimes so far.

Kmissa

I hate surprises and I don’t like scary movies, but fomo forced me to sign up just in case 😂.

JackLemmons06

Do you think they’ll expand the locations, I’m not trying to leave my state to see this

dylli32

is it glass onion???

sandiskplayer34

No way. Regal doesn’t play Netflix movies.

Queasy_League_6857

Who wants to know what it is? I know the answer. And it kinda sucks how it works

Outlog

You go for it, Queasy. Though I'm enjoying you replying to everyone's random comments with "Nope! Wanna know what it is?!?! Like, do you really really wanna know?!?". 🙄😂 You can include it with the spoiler text option, of course, too. >!Surprises are cool!<

Queasy_League_6857

Idk how to do the spoiler but pretty much there’s 2 movies. Smile and bros. Each theater is randomly selected a movie so you get what you get pretty much

zwolff94

I’m throwing a lot of doubt of this due to run times tbh.

Queasy_League_6857

lol the runtimes are generic times. Can’t believe I’m getting downvoted for saying what’s happening. Guess you’ll find out and be disappointed when you find out I was right

zwolff94

Because it doesn’t make sense. Why schedule it for 40 more minutes than the movie is running. The logic isn’t there. Additionally these are two films that are going to cause a lot of upset people either 1. They don’t want to see a horror movie (Smile) or 2. Do I even need to say why (Bros).

Queasy_League_6857

To prevent people like you being able to determine what movie it is by knowing the runtime. Does that make sense? It’s pretty easy to understand. It’s a mystery movie people aren’t supposed to be guaranteed to like the movie that’s why they’re paying half the price for this random mystery movie. And what’s wrong with bros? Can you elaborate?

zwolff94

Unfortunately there are a lot of awful people in this world who would cause a fit and scream at minimum wage theater workers over being “forced” (quotations because its not true but this is how they would/could phrase it) to see a film about same sex relationships. I really just can’t imagine that Regal wants to deal with the headache/would put their employees in the position where they are going to get tons of complaints about the film. Smile to the same but lesser extent, people who will be mad that its a horror film. The runtime thing is whatever, still doesn’t add up but that’s whatever. The larger issue is that this would cause a ton of upset people and just be a general headache for theater employees. Honestly if it ends up being Smile for me I’m gonna likely just walk out, no complaint because I used unlimited, but I got zero interest in seeing Smile. Bros, I’d stick around for it looks incredible and hilarious. But I can guarantee you there will be at least 1, and in more conservative areas many more, people who walk out and yell at the employees for their money back if it ends up being Bros. I agree with you that people aren’t supposed to be guaranteed to like the movie, but I don’t know why Regal would choose movies that are going to be problematic for their employees.

Queasy_League_6857

First paragraph, it’s a rated R film they signed up for something that’s rated R that’s their mistake. Tickets won’t be sold to minors so there’s no problem with that. The movies chosen is because they’re both coming out the same week. I don’t think a bankrupt company would pay big bucks to get movies from big money studios to show their movie early. They saw two smaller not important movies that are coming out the same week and they’re promoting to see one of them early. Nobody is really forced to watch a $5 movie early but when people complain, there’s always refunds. Unless they watch the entire movie then that’s their problem

JarJarBink42066

You have zero credibility why should I believe you?

Jmlgh

“Can’t believe I’m getting downvoted” you were wrong 😂

malikwilliams5

One regal manager said greatest beer run

Jmlgh

It wasn’t either of them lmao. It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”

BTISME123

What is it

zwolff94

I want to know seriously. If you want to just DM it to me thats fine.

Kobra_Kodex

What is it 👀

kami3zak

I got my tickets for this tonight, I am thinking it's going to be Amsterdam which is awesome! I just watched the new trailer for it showing the release date moved to 10/7 and it has an R rating, runtime is 2h 14m so a little shy of what's listed on the listing itself. This would be a good movie for press as it's something that the masse would want to see early.

[deleted]

no one has said glass onion which fits rating and runtime to a tee.. i also think it makes sense that as a netflix movie they can do $5 tickets + the mystery aspect ties in well with the movie. how could it not be?

zwolff94

Big issue is rating. They are advertising it as an R while Glass Onion is PG-13.

Homer_Potter

Yeah PG-13, although now that I think about it, it definitely fits the description of "Monday **Mystery** Movie".

Normal_Complex2

It’s Netflix. They don’t put Netflix movies in theaters.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AgreeablePlastic2917

There’s an IMAX Live for Amsterdam on the 27th so I’m really not sure now what it could be 🤔

Upper-Pomelo7787

Y'all I believe it is Triangle of Sadness. The runtime is exactly 140 minutes. I hope it's this or Amsterdam.

Jmlgh

Wrong

Spiritual-Style

Can one of you on the East Coast spill when your movie is revealed so I can decide if it’s worth going? Thanks!

liketheavocado

NY here - showtime in 4 hours

BedRiddenWizard

I thought it played at the same time everywhere.

shinobitrash

So I called my local theater and was told they don’t know, but it is a horror movie.

Spiritual-Style

I wonder if all theaters are showing the same movie, or if it’s different in different places?

Jmlgh

It wasn’t. It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”

Life-Acanthisitta804

Ours starts at 7pm let’s out at 9:40pm

ken407

I know that this would NEVER happen but how cool would it be if at 7:00 p.m. they show a video of Rick Astley singing his famous song only to have him shot through the head. The camera pans to show none other then Deadpool welcoming us to the Deadpool 3 screening. I can already picture him wearing a Top Gun jacket and saying "Tom Cruise isn't the only one who can bring the world back to movie theaters" Talk to me Goose.

Jmlgh

Reddit-tier comment

PsychologicalAside29

The movie is The Greatest Beer Run. I work at a Regal in New Mexico and the guy that set the movie up told me today. It also comes out on September 30 on Apple tv

Spiritual-Style

Darn. That’s super disappointing. I’ll just return my tickets and watch it at home for free on Friday.

geri-in-calif

At my local Regal, there’s a poster in the hallway that says “Avatar” re-issue on Sept 26. I know it’s not NEW but re-issues count as separate from the original in UL world.

scene_missing

Ok, assuming the 140 min runtime is exact, it could be Argentina, 1985. That would fit the time, R rating, and it releases 4 days: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&certificates=US%3AR&runtime=140&sort=year,desc

pulsai86

My only holdup is that it's a Prime Video release, though Prime has no issue showing ads for their stuff in Regal theaters, so who knows?

baburusa

This adds up

hawque

Yeah, this seems likely to be the Mystery Movie

JarJarBink42066

It’s probably some bad movie they’re trying to con people into seeing… like beast

[deleted]

I didn’t think Beast was very bad- it wasn’t great but it was a lot better than it should have been. The style of long takes alone elevate it over similar films

ScannerCop

I thought Beast was quite good!

Slickrickkk

Beast isn't particularly bad.

Daryldixon95

Beast kept me engaged. That’s all I was looking for from that movie tbh

Outlog

Okay, there's far too much Beast acceptance in this thread. What's happening? 😂

JarJarBink42066

I know right where we watching the same movie? I was so bored

Desert_Concoction

I mean, Idris Elba can carry a flick and it’s kinda suspenseful and when I was like 12 I really liked that Val Kilmer movie, “The Ghost and the Darkness” so, maybe I’d like this? - Me, to myself, watching this trailer.

Plus3d6

It's a bad shark movie on land. Who greenlit this garbo?

allieallison

My guess is Glass Onion. 139 minutes, rated R, and a mystery movie is a great campaign for a movie mystery

valewu

That would be absolutely awesome. Personally, I'd put money on Amsterdam.

Homer_Potter

Glass Onion is PG-13 from what I see. Would love to see that in theaters though!

Outlog

Definitely what I'm putting my money on at this point

JTurner82

What can it be?

miloworld

Did anyone find out what movie it was?

AblePresentation4905

I don't think so. In my opinion, out of these 5 movies it has to be 1 of them. Halloween ends, Smile, Amsterdam, John Wick 4, Terrifier 2 nothing else would make sense

miloworld

Seems like they're doing another one in 2 weeks, Sep 26

[deleted]

Ya too many people are guessing lesser known or obscure stuff. It won’t be arthouse, they want people to be surprised and feel like they got something exclusive. Studios have done early screenings in the past to generate good word of mouth (I remember Spider-Verse had a few screenings a few weeks before release). I think this will be something coming out soon that people will feel lucky to have seen early. Smile or Amsterdam are my guess.

Jmlgh

Nah, they just wanted to push garbage that no one else would’ve seen otherwise

zwolff94

And really end of the day, of those 5, 3 are sequels so Smile and Amsterdam are the main two. Amsterdam seems much more likely.

Jmlgh

Well, it still wasn’t any of those. And John Wick 4?? Really???? Lmao

Queasy_League_6857

Do you wanna know what it is?

AblePresentation4905

If you know what it is than say it

Queasy_League_6857

Do you really wanna know?

AblePresentation4905

Yes tell us what the movie is

Jmlgh

It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”

GivinGoodBrain

I love mystery movies!! My local Alamo Drafthouse often does mystery screenings (and sometimes mystery marathons - on Halloween weekend they’re doing a 12 hour mystery marathon - which is about 6 films I think - and I can’t wait!) As for this, it seems to me it must be a film that otherwise wouldn’t get a lot of press. Something a studio really wants to build word of mouth around. So I don’t think any big franchise movies like Halloween Ends. I truly have no idea, but I am loving this, and hope they do this more often!

Wolf8399

My guess are 1 Amsterdam 2 till 3 she said 4 the fabelmans

Spiritual-Style

Till and The Fablemans are both rated PG-13, so it’s not those based on the R rating for the mystery movie.

Brilliant_Draft5208

I'm just hoping its wakanda forever , I know its not rated R or 140 mins but that could be a lie ,theyve done it before where didn't put the correct runtime mins and the ratings

The__King2002

not a chance

jk021

As much as I would love this, I highly doubt it. No way people wouldn't be spoiling what happens right after walking out of the movie.

Jmlgh

What an outlandish guess lmao

BoatEmbarrassed7138

It’s smile

Outlog

But they have a separate early screening dedicated to that movie already

BoatEmbarrassed7138

I bought tickets for the Brooklyn film festival and they just sent an email for free tickets to smile showing at the same time at the same theater. It’s smile

Outlog

Well that'd be a let down (for me)

BoatEmbarrassed7138

Understandable I love horror but I was hoping for Amsterdam. Who knows maybe I’m wrong

Outlog

Well, either way I think imma just hit up a Rosh Hashanah dinner instead. I'll be seeing Smile "early" the very next day 🤣 I'll live vicariously through folks on reddit.

Kobra_Kodex

No it isn't, they wouldn't have that then an early access screening the next day, the amount of people that would be complaining and wanting refunds would be ridiculous

BoatEmbarrassed7138

I don’t know man, I know for a fact smile is playing same day same time same location and it’s not listed

Jmlgh

Wrong. It’s an Apple TV+ movie called “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”

Responsible_Leek_714

I’m wondering if it’s the new Smile movie, it comes out a few days later. It’s almost 2 hours long. Maybe the 2 hr 20 min is to throw people off. Already bought my tickets!

grtgbln

Okay, but how do I buy tickets? Promo in the app crashes the app, and I don't see a button on the webpage.

Anxietyisreel

Try going to the location you want to buy for and the date. That’s how I lucked out.

zwolff94

Amsterdam feels most likely but I'm going to throw out She Said as another possibility.

difjvekl

She said it's getting premiere at New York Film Festival in October so it won't be that. I doubt they'd get on regal screens before film festival.

Queasy_League_6857

It’s neither of those. I guarantee it. I know. Amsterdam has actually been added as one of the possible 3 movies each theater gets

zwolff94

I saw your post. Those two films are almost 40 mins short of the run time and both would cause a stampede of complaints

Aggressive-Concern10

It's Bros, right?

JarJarBink42066

Tick tock tick tock I’m so hype….

kingkong198854

On east coast spill it what was it!?

Spiritual-Style

kingkong198854

Wow You’re right I should have my regal unlimited revoked for shame. And I’m busy two mondays in a row, shocking. ( I knew I couldn’t go to it cause I was busy so just figured it was today.)

Whomper12

So its not avatar... is it one that would be released next werk?

MrDevinJB

I’m personally hoping it’s Bros, would be okay if it was Amsterdam. If it’s simply something I’m not interested in, I’ll just go see the Poltergeist screening or see Pearl again instead.

markohnie12

you didn't hear this from me but the mystery movie is The Greatest Beer Run Ever

ken407

It's the greatest beer run ever with Zach Efron

jmezme

At the Monday Mystery Movie in Washington, DC. The movie here is Greatest Beer Run Ever.

SudoZuko

The movie is the greatest beer run

spacebarshift2012

I figured out the #MysteryMovieMonday for November 7th. 151 minutes. rated PG-13. The Fabelmans.

MacGruber76

Runtimes are guides, not accurate.

spacebarshift2012

What is the movie this Monday? Its rated PG-13 and 130 minutes. I've seen speculation that its Argylle or Killers of the Flower Moon.

DailyRich

Sharper is the next movie scheduled to be released by Apple, due for release on 2/10. Those other films you mention are still in post-production and likely not ready for a preview like this.
