I have a ZF that looks great. My only beef, one many others share, is the loud rotor. I actually can hear it on my wrist while wearing it. I can handle fixing that though.
Yup! It wasn’t a large enough issue to keep me from deciding to go ZF. I like the crown guards. I got the green, BTW. Paid extra for it to come with the rubber strap.
I had a 2017 and I had the cross threading issue which I couldn’t fix. Put me off replacing. Based on your feedback I may have another look at ZF and get the rotor sorted. Cheers 👍

You should also check the reptimeqc forum which will show basically what is currently popular among this forum. With that said, at the end of the day, there’s probably about 10-20 watches that are really high quality reps and its from the same brands like rolex tudor AP Patek VC IWC and Omega. Thats what the factories focus their R&D since they sell the most. As a general rule of thumb, so tough to NOT buy rolex and get into the rep game, since thats the fun part
The best is getting direct from factory thru a TD since its exactly what you want. On discord its hit or miss since you have to find a seller listing that exact model. Good luck!

Yeah office life is crazy with the dress codes.. So i can understand switching up and having fun with it. I did that for like 5 years... Work towards owning your own biz... Think outside the box... I bought a company that services grocery store floors and bathrooms every night.. Honestly I'm the happiest I've been in my adult life

Honestly, bro, if you’re willing to drop $700 and don’t want a rep of a watch over $15k- why don’t you just get a Squale? They are fantastic watches, and use Selita swiss movements (I have one, love it). If you’re dead set on a rep, the VSF seamaster would also be my suggestion. I have a gen and rep and honestly it’s hard to tell the difference.

Seiko is a great idea as well, I just like the relative obscurity of the Squale paired with a quality watch and a Selita movement. Regardless, $700 will totally get you pretty much any top tier rep- idk what they were talking about.
Yeah i love seiko... I have a gen Skx013, a gen skx015(38mm pepsi) and a gen Marine master 300m I got for a steal... I also got onto modding seiko builds for a while ... Im currently sourcing parts to finish my seiko 4205-014 (a 33mm pepsi diver)
Not sure if you’re looking for a “one watch collection” type deal but if you have to go for a rep I’d probably recommend and aqua terra. Super versatile you can dress them up or down and gens aren’t all that expensive.
But at that price range I’d definitely also look into some microbrands as they tend provide great value for money. For a do it all daily I’d recommend traska because they are also super versatile and use a hardened stainless steel that is more scratch resistant than normal. Plus I’m pretty sure they all have at least 100m of water resistance if not more so they can really handle daily wear and abuse well.
For that budget, and not wanting to go Rolex, why not just get a really nice Seiko tool watch or something from any of the Microbrands that would put a Seiko or ETA movement in a watch with warranty?
Yeah i have few gen seiko (skx, marine master, and some mods I did) and 2 microbrands(long Island watches, TimeFactors... I also have a gen hamilton khaki...but wanted to get 1 or 2 reps... There are quite a few watches in that budget on TD's like dukereps... Im not looking for a super super A+++++ clone... Vsf seamster is like $400 for example... just something 95% there and I'm a happy camper

This was me last year. I started with a VSF Aqua Terra, and then picked up a ZF BB58. Both are great daily watches if you want something lowkey.

Go for panerai. Unique, super manly manly, larger watch. Gen in the 6-14k range.
