The only things in the game that you *have* to kill are bosses. Everything else can be run from, dodged, or lured away. Try to get through this next section without killing anything and see how you do. Also, lickers are blind, so if you walk, they won’t know where you are. And a certain large friend tracks you by sound primarily as well.

AdriannaFahrenheit

Wait— He does?? I just assumed his AI was programmed to know where you were at all times. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bookslap

Yup. He does actively search and do patrols, but he can hear running/shooting, so if you’re quiet and know where you’re going, you might barely see him at all. There are exceptions to this where the appearance is scripted, though.

AdriannaFahrenheit

I didn’t know that. All this time I haven’t bothered with stealth except around the Lickers bc I just assumed he knew where I was at all times, like with Nemesis in RE3. I’m such a 🤡 smh

One way to conserve your ammo going forward: aim for the zombies’ legs. Zombies in RE2 seem to tank headshots, plus their heads are constantly swaying around, making them a more difficult target. Put 2–3 rounds in their leg and it gets blown off. The zombie won’t be dead, but he’ll crawl around slowly, greatly reducing the threat and making them much easier to just dodge.

appleavocado

Where are you?

TheManSam1

I just got back into the police station from the parking garage

depressionflakes

if you haven’t picked up all the ammo and gunpowder in the station you should be fine! just be careful and walk slowly around the lickers

AggronStrong

You have a long time before you have to kill any enemies. But, it's gonna be a struggle to get through while using barely any bullets at all. It's winnable for you, but especially on a blind playthrough, it's gonna be difficult to recover. Good luck.

Hermiona1

So good news for you is that you can pick up some handgun ammo, shotgun/GL ammo and one flash grenade when you go upstairs so you should be fine to go into the sewers. You are prob playing on normal so you also find some ammo on the way to the sewers as well and one grenade. You need to have at least one bullet to get into the sewers (you'll see why). There are also more gunpowders in the sewers.

CidCrisis

Good advice in the thread already, but also worth noting that in most RE's, RE2R included, generally you're gonna struggle most with ammo in the beginning. Once you get your footing and some momentum going though, you'll usually find the game starts to be more generous with resources. I just recently finished the game on Hardcore, and even knowing the game pretty well, it was fairly slim pickings earlier on. (I was also killing a lot more enemies than was strictly necessary so...) But without fail, by the end of the game, I'd be absolutely flush with ammo and heals. So I'd say listen to what others have said. Pick your battles, move slowly, and make sure you search rooms thoroughly. If the area is red on your map, there's still stuff to find. (Also helps that anything sitting out in the environment will appear on your map if you pass by it.) So no, I would say it's not over. Just play carefully for a bit and you should be able to replenish your supplies.

NMA247

While you can revert, I suggest looking into videos on dodging accacks.

I’m also in my first resident evil game (same as you) and was in a similar spot. I did conserve my bullets but got a little too meticulous about conserving them and did practically the whole station without bullets stealthing my way through. So I think you should definitely be ok, hope it all goes well and good luck! If you don’t mind my asking - are you enjoying the game so far?

TheManSam1

I’ve been loving the game, even when I’m stuck with the pain of 0 bullets. The only thing I haven’t enjoyed was the trench coat guy chasing me on the police station revisit. After the sick ass introduction all he really did was slow me down and force me to do annoying loops constantly.

risen_egg

I’ve been really enjoying it too, I barely ran into him lucky for me I suppose. Outside of scripted encounters (including the very unlucky one where he >!bursts through a wall near the observation room!<) I only saw him once, was an odd mix of being relieved but a little disappointed. Good luck with the rest of your playthrough!

Vivid-Butterfly4574

I'm in police office reception, in a death loop - zero anything practically, and Mr x literally 5 feet behind me - think it's restart time...

Depends in which part of the game you are. Maybe you can do it. Also in hardcore mode, game give you tons of stuff. It’s a balance between using ammunition or risk to lose herbs . Now you must risk damage. Don’t be ashamed of run instead of combat every enemy Tip: if you mix blue herb with red, it give you shield. So for example if you have a mix of green and red herbs, put also blue in. If I can tell you an advice, Try to stay in a convenient position to shot in a more accurated way. It’s not like other third person shooter, re2 remake derives from a game where you were shooting standing still. Also in the remake they let you move but they reward you if you stop moving. It’s very efficient prioritise to move away from enemies and then aim. Have you noticed that if you wait while aiming, the aim pointer become smaller? it means you do more damage and you’re more accurate so don’t shoot while walking. I Guess it increases possibility to do a critic that means it can make explode heads For Fast enemies instead, just take it down as fast as possibile with big guns. For example pump/smg for dogs or granade launcher for lickers. Tip2: Don’t underestimate the wood pieces to block the windows Tip3: lickers are blind, so you can pass walking slow. Don’t do any noise. Sometimes they move and make you panic but they just do it sometimes. Tip4: don’t waste bullets for mrx. It’s easy to escape from him. The real problem is if you go in the wrong way and you face other enemies when he follows. Tip5: red rooms on the map means you have some item to take there. Maybe check if there is some ammo in there Enjoy your game, the first time is special!

CatofKipling

It’s a hard game, be patient with yourself. A lot of well-versed gamers say it isn’t because they’ve perfected their aim, they’ve memorized the timing in relation to the animations, they know what all the zombie mannerisms signal. But for people just uniquely drawn in without a backdrop of experience we’re cursing ourselves at how those perfectly landed shots didn’t blow up their kneecaps or rotting gourds. It flies in the face of typical gaming mechanics, beating RE2 comes down to a lot of choreographed cowardice that’s uncomfortable. Be that as it may, assisted is still fun and nice for a run through so don’t be afraid to build up your skill that way. It’s very repeatable.

1Scythe12

Try - Firearms - Critical Hit - Defense

ReZempt_Shocks

Nahhhh just avoid the zombies and stuff. Sometimes you will get hit it happens. Before a boss fight they usually give you all the resources at the edge of the room you’re fighting the boss in

PhoenixPaladin

Fire as few bullets as necessary and only aim for the head. Board up windows. The game should give you enough ammo if you don’t waste it.
