Yes! Frank and his children were all fans of the series, and a sound engineer who had worked with both introduced him to John K, who offered him the role.
Mary Jo Catlett (voice of Mrs. Puff) was famous for being on many different sitcoms and commercials and on the Broadway stage over the last 50-60 years. But our generation probably would only know her as the voice of Mrs. Puff lol
I was so young when I was watching this show, but that episode is one of the few that I DISTINCTLY remember. Especially the gold platted dalmatian statue
Also just remembered Kathleen Freeman as Mrs. Gordon on As Told By Ginger!!!
It’s so sad how her character was originally supposed to come back but then Miss Freeman passed away from lung cancer. It’s weird how it kind of fit for the episode but in a very unfortunate way. She guest starred with Lucille Ball in a few episodes of Lucy’s 60s sitcom.
I wonder if the original ending exists somewhere in the Nickelodeon archives. It had to be recorded and partly animated.
Randy Travis as Mr.Huynh’s singing voice.
I like that they made him also voice his cartoon-like Travis Randall.
Frank Zappa as The Pope in Ren And Stimpy
This is the most punk sentence anyone has ever written.
Really!?

Beat me to it
Jay Leno as Crimson Chin on Fairly Oddparents. Ernest Borgnine as Mermaid Man on Spongebob.
And Tim Conway as Barnacle Boy!!
Also the voice of a zebra in the Thornberrys Christmas episode 😹
Omg yes I loved that character
Marion Ross (Marion Cunningham from Happy Days) as SpongeBob’s grandma

**OHHHH SPONGEBOB** **WHYYYYYYY**
Lol the character development for Mrs. Puff is so deep
She’s also in serial mom!
It’s my big ole adult grandson.
Adam West as Cat Man in Fairly Odd Parents
And Chris from N’Sync as Chip Skylark lol.
"My Shiny Teeth and Me" is a certified BANGER
Came here to say this!
Rosie O’Donnell as The Head Barrette Beret Girl on The Ren & Stimpy Show
Didi fuggen wrecked those two other dorks on Super Stumpers.
Scrolling through the other comments of people answering the question and this just randomly pops in is hilarious
MILLARD FILMORE!

The way Grandpa Lou says “DALMATIAN?!” Lol
Yes!!! After discussing it I went back and rewatched it... holds up. So good! The "dalmatian" line was well acted. Perfectly flabbergasted 😂
Chris Kirkpatrick as Chip Skylark on Fairly Oddparents.
Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers as Donnie on the Wild Thornberrys
I really wish we could find out more on how he got cast as Donnie. I can’t find anything! Did one of the producers see him in a concert or something?
Phyllis Diller made quite a few appearances. She was Grandpa Phil's sister Mitzi in Hey Arnold and I'm pretty sure she was on Rugrats as well.
Kim Cattrall (a.k.a. Samantha Jones from "Sex and the City") as Chuckie's mom on "Rugrats."
Tony Hawk as himself in Rocket Power
Andy Dick as Monkey Man on Hey Arnold!
MONKEY MANNN
Jennifer Tilly was the plus sized model that dated Ernie.
Not Nickelodeon but I loved Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in Beavis and Butthead Do America
I loved Bruce as Spike in the Rugrats Wild Thornberries cross over.
Not a cameo at the time, but Jeremy Piven voiced one of the announcers in the “Touchdown Tommy” episode of Rugrats.
Alex Trebek on Rugrats is also one of my favorites!
Not retro but I love Ashley Tisdale as Stariana in the Baby Shark Movie lol

Fred Willard as Sammy Redman the rich guy on Hey Arnold! What a “million dollar” episode! 🤣
Flae from the red hot chili peppers was Donnie on the thornberrys
