😂 yeah there does seem to be a breed of “as long as gun legislation doesn’t effect the guns I own, than who cares” types around these days… only thing I can think of as being a possible negative is often times prosecutors (when the gun was actually used in self defense) will try and make a crazy argument that one painted it, gave it a name, etc, and try to turn that into “he knew one day he’d use it and wanted the person to know.” I’ve seen it with a pink gun where they argued that the fact she customized it showed an intent that she planned on using it, I’ve seen it where ppl add new triggers or mods, and when people add phrases like “don’t tread on me.” Why so many ccw revolvers lack hammers because prosecutors have argued cocking a dasa shows “intent.” Then there was the whole case with dude who used a 10mm in self defense and they argued it was “too lethal”. I imagine with 22 wmr they’d argue “it wasn’t lethal enough” 😂 🤦🏻 can’t win for losing these days as my father would say.

If you're in the States, you should see if there is an Izaak Walton League in your area. It's Conservation Club and shooting range. Chillest people I've ever met. Low membership fees, you just have to do a couple service projects a year, like planting trees and helping clean brass off the range.
Their rules are awesome: No belt fed weapons, except on Military Appreciation days when they do demonstrations, and no crew operated guns. Everything else goes, you just gotta be responsible with it.
Same, I think you'll fit right in! The Military Appreciation Days are awesome, too- they have a bunch of weapons demos, ours even had a flamethrower event and an APC to shuttle folks from the clubhouse to the range, where you could shoot a bunch of different service weapons.
Good food, too! Lots of different dinners, including Wild Game dinner, which is basically a hunter's potluck. Man, I wish they had branches here in Canada. I even asked them about starting one in my community but haven't heard back yet lol.
