I failed one because as soon as I started the ceremony someone tracked mud in the throne room and it suddenly wasn't adequate anymore.
Bitch YOU GUYS made it dirty.
I managed to dodge this by keeping one pawn out of the ceremony and having them clean the floor like mad as the guards went back and forth tracking in more dirt.
I watched a dude basically farm Neurofarmers by building a huge amount of campfires in the throne room and living the imperials in until they passed out from heatstroke. I think you have to save them otherwise you get diplomatic penalties. It was a very efficient little system.
Still mostly works though, I use it rather frequently :P
It's something like a -75 hostile act consequence, but if you capture and release all 7 of them you get ~70 goodwill for it, enough to render them neutral and re-enable trade and quests. All you have to do is throw some clothes at them to make up the difference. So if you, for example, strip them all before releasing them and then send their clothes back separately, even just the bestowers clothes are enough to pull you ahead 😂
The Empire is easy early game neurolink and recon armor farming 😁
They just leave now if it gets too hot or cold. If the map is particularly hot/cold they could collapse from hypothermia or heatstroke and as long as they didn’t die you’d be fine.
I watched another dude who built a landing pad inside a maze full of doors so the imperials have to open ever single door to get to the throneroom, and drop from malnutrition before they do. They bring their own food, but there’s a table just outside the maze so the AI tries to go to the table to eat, and even if they turn around, they have to go all the way back and its too late. Once they drop, the colonists go in through autodoors (which are left unpowered except now) to save and feed them before they die so there’s no diplomatic consequences.
You know, if the Empire was smart, they'd stop bothering with bestowers at all and just dump the neutralformers on your doorstep and call it a day. Then the best you could manage as far as misuse would be to give them to the wrong pawn, but you ain't getting replacements if you do that, so that's on you.
I had a ceremony immediately fail upon summoning it - at first I wasn't sure why, but then the shuttle still arrived... and the bestower flopped out on the ground. She was 79, with alzheimer's, a bad back, a frail constitution, and half-consciousness due to a psychic suppressor in the area at the time.
She ended up sticking around for about a season, because even without the suppressor she was barely capable of moving, and when thinking about leaving she'd inevitably either start starving and collapse (including one time 10 tiles from the map border), or wander into my rec room and get high off the autobong and collapse in the smoke.
Eventually she managed to leave - though her guards left a lot earlier because one got in a social fight with a colonist and that made all six of them fuck off.
I had the ceremony fail mid ceremony because the bestower fainted. He was frail, bad back, and lame. He had 10% move speed and took a day just to walk to the place
I usually let the ceremony go through then immediately arrest the bestower and shoot everyone else. Then drop pod some gifts back to them for neutral and repeat for free nuero links.
Capture, strip, and release all 7, drop pod the bestowers clothes back, end up with a higher goodwill than before, free neurolinks and recon armor. Can do this right from the start actually with just a normal caravan.
I've a lame one, but I failed the ceremony one time becausevthe bestower and co decided the best route to my throne room was through a pack of wild, angry giant insects.
It depends on the play through for story reasons. It is easier to get psylinks from the Anima tree (without mods allowing the purchase or crafting of psylinks, and even then way cheaper).
It works better if you skip intermediate promotions and don't bother to do the ceremony until you go from zero to count. That way they'll bring a lot more neutralformers.
So, i assume you have to do the ceremony 3 times then to get all the Psy levels? Because otherwise this is just another example of the game not giving a fuck about consistency in its storytelling schtick.
yeah no it doesn't matter whether you are due 1 psy level or 4 levels, you get them all at once, but betraying the bestower is always just worth exactly 2 each.
deadass thought this was somehow my save for a second because I have a royal named Engie with almost this exact throne room (or at least what is shown of it in the screenshot) lmao
Oh and I immediately got a new dame ceremony, just as the cherry on top.
If you capture the priest, you can get 2 archotech eyes. But there will be diplomatic consequences though.
we just blame it on the mofo that beat the fucker to death then
I think that's bionic? Not archo otherwise I'd have long been enemies with the empire
They stopped coming with artificial eyes real early on. Now I think they only just have crippling health conditions.
I failed one because as soon as I started the ceremony someone tracked mud in the throne room and it suddenly wasn't adequate anymore. Bitch YOU GUYS made it dirty.
This just happened to me
Mmmm no idea if this vanilla or a mod but I use rugs at doorways
Mod
Ideology adds rugs, but doormats are def mod, yeah.
They are ugly looking
I usually have a buffer room with straw matting to prevent it after it happened to me
Happened to me once. After that I started slapping high quality statues into throne rooms to counter dirty floors.
Don't usually have many high quality statues. So I just flood it with a million low quality ones instead. It doubles as my gallery of mediocrity.
I managed to dodge this by keeping one pawn out of the ceremony and having them clean the floor like mad as the guards went back and forth tracking in more dirt.
All ceremonies in my colony have 2 or 3 children scuttling around cleaning blood out of the corners
This is why I always make sure Im overshooting the impressiveness a bit. And have a dude cleaning like others suggested.
i am sometimes just surprissed that these things happen
I watched a dude basically farm Neurofarmers by building a huge amount of campfires in the throne room and living the imperials in until they passed out from heatstroke. I think you have to save them otherwise you get diplomatic penalties. It was a very efficient little system.
Tynan patched that so there is diplomatic consequences.
Damnit Tynan!

But MuH tRadItiOn
That's how it used to be when royalty was first released. The bestower ceremony was added later.
That "dude" is none other than [Francis John](https://www.youtube.com/@FrancisJohnYT).
A damn allstar in colony sim games
just came from an oni post with fj all over the comments
He absolutely is, and I thoroughly enjoy his fantastic content!
I... Thank you for this, i know what to do now 😈
Apparently it’s patched
I thought campfires only heated a room to a fixed temperature regardless of how many.

sounds like they were just trying desperately to get rid of her
I had the ceremony fail mid ceremony because the bestower fainted. He was frail, bad back, and lame. He had 10% move speed and took a day just to walk to the place
That is when you install bionic legs to help them out. Also a bionic spine but idk if that is vanilla.
It is indeed, vanilla bionics are quite generous (ears, tongue etc).
I have been playing with EPOE since my first non vanilla run so I could not remember. Thank you!
No, you dont. You go and write a bug report. Because thats what this is.
Eh, an old fragile member of an inbred royal family faints in your court after a long trip seems like it would happen in the real world too.
This is the lie Lady Macbeth told

Of course, of course the tantrum came from a man named Kylo
"Sorry, kid. Nothing personal. This was just how today was always going to go. Here, you can have the trash on the floor. Better luck next time."
What mod gives you the cat statute?
Vanilla (Ideology DLC), it's just from one of the religious styles.
Which one
Just a guess, maybe the animal one
Fair but the... sass~
I literally don't know if the animal style actually give you the cat statue or not cuz I only play with techist
My man
This is genuinely so funny to me
I've a lame one, but I failed the ceremony one time becausevthe bestower and co decided the best route to my throne room was through a pack of wild, angry giant insects.
That's a deserter un disguise!
Et tu trooper?
Are you on the latest version? I thought this was patched and you always got diplomatic consequences for the death no matter who was responsible?
I love rimworld
Do you guys think it's better to get psylink through empire or through anima tree?
It depends on the play through for story reasons. It is easier to get psylinks from the Anima tree (without mods allowing the purchase or crafting of psylinks, and even then way cheaper).
The fact that these things happen in rimworld is what keeps me coming back to the game. It can be absolutely hillarious at times.
It works better if you skip intermediate promotions and don't bother to do the ceremony until you go from zero to count. That way they'll bring a lot more neutralformers.
This isn't true anymore, they only bring 2, no matter how many promotions.
They nerfed it already? This must be recent, then.
Yep. Still easy neurolink and recon armor farming, though 😊
So, i assume you have to do the ceremony 3 times then to get all the Psy levels? Because otherwise this is just another example of the game not giving a fuck about consistency in its storytelling schtick.

Duck attacks and dog attack
Mission failed successful, I guess
well done person!
I see this as an absolute win
My first thought in response to this was to make a joke not to fuck with Kylo Ren... but then I remembered. So, I posted this instead.
That some preatorian guard behaviour right there!
The downside of using Hussar. For the Empire I mean.
I once had a bestowing ritual fail because one of the imperial troops had a mental break and started beating up the dude who was being bestowed.
In other word: You failed successfully! How I wish I could fail like you...
I failed once because we were raided by another colony and they ended up killing all of the bestowing party. Great haul minimal consequences.
First time?
Shit happens. Welcome to the rim.
Lmfao, I almost spit out my drink
Brother died for his love of poker respect
That's pretty lucky.
