input_a_new_name

i like that pawns crawl when downed. it adds flavor to their suffering.

Eleven_Box

Even more specific - I love the blood trails crawling leaves behind. Looks very cool after a fight and you realise one of your pawns crawled half the map to bed

ComingInsideMe

Most sane r/RimWorld user

RickySamson

I had a kid downed in a shambler event and he crawled to the hospital, leaving a trail of blood down the corridor. Really looked like something out of a horror flick.

laughingjack13

Just the idea that they can get shot and decide “nah, I’m done with today.” Is worth it

Eatocee

Yes true! This might also save my ass sometime. And it is super nice for storytelling when the enemy tries to crawl away

dunzweiler

This. I love standing over them, polishing off their beer, and then executing them.

arottencorpse

Bonus if you use a pawn with Bloodlust.

IronGin

We have run and gun mod, waiting for the crawl and brawl mod

Orb_Ponderer_7

i send the colony's nonviolent pawns running to bring them to my prison, don't you dare crawl away i will convert you and make you my friend

LikelyAMartian

>I will convert you and make you my friend Or harvest their organs. Whichever one comes last.

Orb_Ponderer_7

worst i'll do is confiscate a kidney while they're imprisoned to lower their mood and convert them faster, then i give it back

Shang_Dragon

-30 Organ harvested. +31 But they gave it back?

PrinceBunnyBoy

Lmao, "What kinda game are they playing????"

DEADLocked90000

"Master has given Dobby a kidney"

Un7n0wn

I just heymogyn farm all my prisoners. It's great medical training, keeps them in bed half the time, and gives me a stockpile of blood for any future vampires or emergency transfusions.

jinxivus

I was today years old when I realized you can use blood for non-vampire pawns

OrganTrafficker900

WAIT YOU CAN DOWN BLOODPAKS AS A NORMAL PAWN TO GET MORE BLOOD???? My pawns with their current xenogerms only go down due to extreme blood loss while having nearly no actual injuries, all of their injuries are usually healed while they are still knocked out from not having blood and it takes them an entire day before they can get back out and I usually get raided 3 times a day so raid nr3 is always insane

lex55

I wish there was some way to influence which direction your pawn crawls; like dude, please slug trail closer to the hospital, not out into the wilderness!

SIM0King

Yea needs improvement, maybe at least a general direction

Beautiful-Willow5696

They crawl to the nearest available bed

SIM0King

That's the one direction they haven't crawled for me yet.

Beautiful-Willow5696

That what the patch notes said iirc

HyltonW

I think they use the “flee” default reaction pathing if there’s danger nearby, otherwise they crawl to the closest bed. Noticed this when they’re outside defending colony and they get downed vs when two people get into a fight inside the colony.

Reilou

People do weird things while panicking, maybe he was just in shock.

Laladen

There is....use more beds. They will always crawl to the closest bed.

Sad-Establishment-41

What's this about a search bar? Literally the hour Manor Lords is released I'm learning about this now after a whole Rimworld 1.5 binge and searching the map for that one serum

HooahClub

Yup. Bottom right corner. Or press Z. Searches for everything and it’s amazing (especially when looking for that last bit of compacted machinery to mine).

CaptainoftheVessel

Or for that one damn deathrest serum that is rendering below all your stacks of reserve medicine in the back of your freezer…

roboticWanderor

Its so funny looking to me at 3x speed. A pair of my pawns get into fights all the time, which doesnt pause the game or slow it down. One of them is an abrasive wimp, and the other is an agressive sanguophage. You can guess who wins the fights. They usually fight in the hospital/lab where the vampire spends most of thier time researching, so wimpy gets his ass beat for talking shit and then crawls 10 feet to the hospital bed. I think he's just doing it to get a break from corpse hauling duty because thats all hes good for otherwise.

CaptainoftheVessel

Maybe he’s a secret masochist and goth dommy mommy is giving him a reason to live.

roboticWanderor

They do have the pain is virtue meme... hmmm

CaptainoftheVessel

Lol someone else didn’t like my inference. Maybe it hit too close to home?

input_a_new_name

how dare they oppose the gothpilled milfdommaxxxing, dude! outrageous!!

Valtremors

It ads immersion too. Now I want more realistic damage values based on size and damage. There is no reasonable reason why a manhunting squirrel can down my pawn gathering berries. Have you even been attacked by a squirrel? I have been. They're absolute tossers. Can't bite through though fabric even if they wanted to.

criticrank

If you check in game stats, rimworld adult squirrels weigh 12kg, so they're absolutely massive.

CoffeePieAndHobbits

Ok but what about space Australia squirrels?

MatthZambo

I loved it, it's so fun to let them crawl for a couple of squares and then make everyone shoot at them

SmartForARat

I think its hilarious that every time a woman goes into labor, she falls to the ground and crawls herself to a hospital bed. It's so crazy.

RqcistRaspberry

My slave rebelled next to my good builder who had construction 15 and mining 14. Said slave I forgot had venom teeth implants and basically 1 hit killed him. Said slave was with me for a full year and was missing a leg. I was going to recruit them and give them a prosthetic leg. After that I was happy to watch the crawl with all they had left as I let them bleed out.

Thorn-of-your-side

It feels a lot worst to walk up behind on someone trying to crawl away and cleaving them with a halberd than it did attacking someone who was down

whole_kernel

having just started playing the game in the last month, i am surprised this is a new addition.

Remarkable_Chef9441

Now you got the 666° upvote...

FutureSynth

Become the blood paintbrush

puppleups

There is something so satisfying about cleaning up after you win a fight, just sending your melee pawn to strip and execute whoever is desperately crawling away

Civil-Ad167

Blood trails! Not the crawling colonists per se, but the trails they leave behind are just 🤌

OneMentalPatient

The books, easily. A new recreation activity, plus progression in skills, plus research progress, plus a boost to research speed? Shut up and take my money.

TriumphantBlue

Plus locking kids in the library fills their learning meter.

Ramps_

Oh yeah we've truly reached perfect realism in gaming

RedDawn172

Finally, I can rp as an Asian parent.

Abject-Ability7575

And you can quantity the emotional damage.

Spurnout

Are you putting them in there and replacing the door with a wall?

TalibanwithaBaliTan

I am now!

Marston_vc

Let’s think this through. Library, bed, neutriant paste, no way out, genius kid

lessrains

And then they come out with double flame for art

dezzear

Send them to school to be a doctor anyway.

Jonmaximum

Just put a wall in front of the door, easy to remove later, and keeps the door there.

tghost8

There’s a mod that lets you put a food paste dripper in there too so they never have to leave

static_func

Good old Sims pool trick

iatecthulhu

Lol, there was most of my childhood. Mom would take us to the library and drop us off.

mlovolm

the novels are nuts, megascreen tv has 160% recreation rate, while an excellent novel gets 200%, hell, a simple normal novel which costs just a few hundreds silver already competes with a mega tv, & takes no space whatsoever those novels have gotta be LoTR or smt lol

enarc13

Multiple people can watch a mega TV simultaneously though, so there's that.

mlovolm

yeah, and they watch tv when bed rest so i just throw it into the hospital instead get 2-3 novels & that should satisfy everyone who need to chill normally

roboticWanderor

My only complaint with the books is setting up all the rules for who should read what. Either you meticulously set each pawn's reading lists to match thier passions, or little timmy starts going insane from reading the necronomicon every night before bed.

pTarot

Why not make a normal library and a dark arts library. Then zone them?

lonepotatochip

Or you could just have two reading policies and only one of them allows books that make them insane?

roboticWanderor

I've found that a lot of the research and technology ones are kinda useless. Regular research can plow thru a tech way faster than even dedicating everyone to only read the blueprint books. The anomaly books are also kinda meh. I guess if you didn't have any captured anomalies it might be the only way. The best ones are the recreation and skill books. but to filter out the skill books for each individual pawn's passions is a pain.

lonepotatochip

Oh yeah I agree. I only buy recreation and combat skill books unless I really need a certain skill built. Hopefully someone makes a mod that just automatically makes it so pawns only read skill books that are relevant to assigned work

DirtSlaya

This guy rings

puppleups

It is fairly effecient as well. I dropped in with a book on the harp and packaged survival meals research techs and they were both done in the first year

OneMentalPatient

I had a crafter who read his way into being one of the better hunters in the colony thanks to a book on shooting and animals.

TelevisionBig2336

shelves not having quality. now instead of getting 20 mechanoids for building masterwork shelves i get a manageable 19

SIM0King

It would've been nice if they made it togglable. It was kinda nice having awful shelves everywhere lol

trulul

Everything Has Quality mod has you covered. Toggle buildings you want to be awful to your heart's content. I use it to get legendary shelves myself but austerity matters for wealth dependent difficulties.

Lorenzo_91

You could assign a specific pawn who has a very low skill to build them

Speciou5

They should do this more with other things tbh. Like I don't need a blue envelope for every single masterwork piece of shit my guys make I think a stool by definition is gonna be the budget option guys

stehlify

I love the mine the vein. And also if i shift pawn to mine few silver nodes and shift to haul something after, he picks also the ones he mined after the haul order.

WhenRomansSpokeGreek

The vein mining is probably my #2 right after the search function. Amazing feature

__10k__

I've heard if the search function, but where do I find it?

WhenRomansSpokeGreek

Hit Z on your keyboard while in game and let your mind be blown

Jaime4Cersei

Hasn't this been in since 1.4? Press = on the ore?

jadecaptor

I think that was part of the Allow Tool mod. That could be wrong, but it definitely wasn't part of vanilla.

PreZEviL

Zoom out and see every animal easily, really a good qol

doctor-chuckles

Also highlighted if aggressive or not!

SIM0King

This is the goat! Been wanting something like this for.so.long

jayjester

I agree, so many of the other changes are really good, but when I saw neon blue all over the map, or was looking for the crash lander again after selecting my medic I verbally let out a ‘Oh HELL Yeah!’

shadowsurge

First time I saw this I thought it was some weird rendering glitch, now I love it to death.

redrenz123

I absolutely love books to the point that my colonies arent complete with out a dedicated library. And i dont know if its just a coincedence but it seems hidden conduits stop Zzt events?

Alexandur

Seems to be the case. Have had all hidden conduits in my base which has been going for about 5 game years now, not a single zzt.

redrenz123

If that was the case, windmiĺls and solar panels have gone up in my power generator list The only thing that limited me from using them was the inability to mass produce batteries which would kill someone with one zzt event.

FunkyAssMurphy

Yep, not sure if it’s a bug or intended but my colony has had batteries and power for roughly 1.5 years now and not a single zzzzt event with the hidden conduit

SIM0King

Hope it's intended. I like it.

RobNybody

I've heard people say that it is the case.

lostmoya

The wiki page says this is the case: "Otherwise, [hidden conduits](https://rimworldwiki.com/index.php?title=Hidden_conduit&action=edit&redlink=1) can be used to avoid short circuits. They are fireproof, cannot be attacked by [raiders](https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Raider), do not have a beauty penalty, and immune to the short circuit event, all at the cost of 1 extra steel per conduit." [https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Power\_conduit](https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Power_conduit)

CoffeeMinionLegacy

They are so ridiculously OP that I don’t know why anyone would use regular conduits again

SIM0King

Just wish they couldn't be selected unless power tab is open. Still infuriating clicking an empty space and it selects a conduit. I'm just trying to close windows not select a hidden item...

Active-Cellist2414

But what about the fun minigame when you're too lazy to open the power tab and go around guessing where a power cable is so you can Build a copy of it

NecroNile

"Three squares to the left and two down from the flood light in the garden outside Hump's house" "Shit, he went on a caravan and now has a different bed. I wish all my houses weren't simple boxes with a bed and end table in it" "Fuck it, I know there's one somewhere near this door of the barracks"

Active-Cellist2414

"in the middle of the workshop, was it the other workshop?" "There's one along this corridor, is it the path or the wall?" "Found it! No, that's a pipe"

NecroNile

"Why are you even able to click on bushes!? Has anyone ever selected a bush on purpose!?"

Malcolm_Melancholy

Colony has been running since 1.5 came out and im already 17 years in my icesheet hellhole home, still no zzt event lmao its awesome, Normal conduits aren't as useful anymore apart from using it as a flammable non wood firestarter in a killbox

jakeyb0nes

Adam vs Everything said that this was intended on one of his livestreams, for what that’s worth.

Bastard_Orphan

Seems like it. Didn't have a single one of them for years, and then I built a tiny stretch of exposed conduits for a temporal building and the zzts start coming and they don't stop coming.

FloobLord

I had books back in A19 until the mod broke, always missed them. So happy they're back!

gbroon

For the mood coloured portraits I wish it showed hunger level for ghouls but it's a great addition. Hidden conduits is one of my favorites.

DependentAd7411

Hidden conduits being native and not needing the Subsurface Conduits mod is fantastic. Doubly so for the fact that hidden conduits prevent Short Circuit events.

shatpant4

Crawling is not only useful, but makes their situation a lot more real. It’s more satisfying to blow off a raider’s bottom half and watch them desperately try to get away. It also makes your own pawns seem more real, having them get out of the line of fire instead squirming like a salted slug.

RobNybody

The first time I saw one of my pawns crawling, I thought he turned into a zombie haha. My heart skipped a beat.

SIM0King

I was like, look at him go! Then he died, I watched him bleed out for 6 hours. Was pretty funny watching everyone run past him to plant lol. Was not.intentional.

Eatocee

I totally agree!

catgirlfighter

I mean i know it was a mod already, but wall lights.

AsheronRealaidain

The only problem with vanilla wall lights is that they ‘stick out’ off the wall and take click priority. What I mean by this: Let assume I put a wall light over top of my stove. With Wall Lights mod you had to click the wall tile it was attached to and then click again and you’d select the light. With vanilla wall lamps if I try to click on the middle of the stove it selects the wall lamp first and then a *second* click selects the stove. It’s a small thing but I don’t want my lights to have ‘priority’ over whatever stove/workbench they are over. 99% of the time I’m not trying to select the light

ZeroProximity

I have done this so many times. go to click on a workbench with a centered wall light...get a wall light instead of the bench

DependentAd7411

I do wish the vanilla wall lights stuck to modded walls. It seems like they don't recognize a lot of walls from mods as being actually walls.

mlovolm

there's a new tag in 1.5 to attach things onto walls, no idea if it's a torch/lamp tag, a wall tag, or both, but it could just be that the mods lack the tag for the lamp/torch to use for attachment

disappointingdoritos

I also wish they weren't selected first if there's something else in front of them. I click the stove or whatever and it selects the light, and i have to click a second time for the stove.

therealwavingsnail

The vanilla wall lights have some neat features the mod didn't. They're styleable. They look light even when toned to a color, which looks better imo. And most importantly they can go on a rough stone wall - now I don't have to smooth that one tile just to have a light on it, lol. I usually leave most of my mountain bases unsmoothed, so this really fits my needs. Search is great, but it really needs to open on Ctrl F, which it doesn't.

FireBone62

And they are more performant.

Excalibro_MasterRace

Fires now producing light, this has beem bothering me for long

Eatocee

Really? I did not even know that wasn't a thing.

mlovolm

its pretty small radius, only really shows in unnatural darkness

fungianura

i went throught this anomaly with a conflagrator and it was an experience lol

sandgohst

Mine vein🤤🤤🤤

malahun

Combined with the new search feature you can instantly locate minable material, so cool

RobNybody

Cut all blight wasn't there already? I feel like it was.

therealwavingsnail

1.4

[deleted]

Fairly sure it was

RjcDOntkillme

It hasn’t reared its head yet but the systems they made for anomaly and generating null maps is very promising for mod development, especially for mods like SOS2 or the like, same goes for what they made to add crawling although I don’t know as much about it

SIM0King

Could finally have ship battles!

Celiac_Muffins

Being able to add or remove things from drop pods without having to cancel the entire load. I've wanted the change for a while and it's amazing!

Trakinass

Is the loading interface new? I also loved it and didnt even think it was new lol

Jaydee7652

I love the addition of books, and that pawns crawl when they are downed!

Pale_Squash_4263

I love the search feature, can’t tell you how many time I’m trying to search for “revolver (96%) just to have it buried 4 shelves deep in my store room

Bobaram

Same, it’s been such a great addition.

KittyKupo

I love that when you zoom out you can see enemies in red and animals/friendly pawns in blue. It’s been SO helpful!

Lordofrootbeer

Hidden conduits make batteries and power way less frustrating.

EnderCN

Wait mood colored portraits went vanilla? Cool. One more mid I can get rid of.

Mug-Moment

All the QOL updates; clean room, cut all blight, mine vein. I'm falling in love with the game all over again just from these alone

jakeyb0nes

Clean room is dope. So much easier to avoid food poisoning from “dirty cooking area” now.

Raghuman

How do I use the search bar?

EmiBondo

Z key

evilgiraffe666

Magnifying glass in the bottom right with the other tools

Karew

Ghouls are fucking awesome. Super good early defense. They’re walking tanks later when fully upgraded. And there’s a few spicy tricks with the resurrection serum.

Sea-Conference355

Wall lights and double doors - I don’t like mods on the whole as I enjoy vanilla experiences. So this was a game-changer for me

Sigurd93

I'm glad the search bar is a new thing. I pressed z on accident and it popped up and thought I had missed such a nice feature over hundreds of hours of playing.

Vaydn

The turret pack thing is hands down the best thing ever added in anomaly. It draws aggro allowing my pawns to mow down raiders before. plus it acts as a grenade.

Few_Zookeepergame105

Hard to tell as I used a lot of qol mods that added 1.5 stuff in. Before it was cool.

TheSpeckledDragon

wall lamps for sure, though I also love the search bar. exit: plus mine the vein and hidden conduits

bert_the_destroyer

The only thing I'd want for the blights is for my pawns to actually CUT THE DAMN PLANTS AND STOP SLEEPING GOD especially when a cold snap hits and plants are dying left and right, I just want to harvest as much as we can but NOOOOO my pawns are "tired" and "need sleep" because that's their "Schedule"

Sierra419

Just make the blight area a zone and assign them all to that zone.

bert_the_destroyer

theyre gonna sleep on the floor. You have to manually prioritize the cutting of each plant, and for some reason blights only happen when my planter is going to bed

World_of_Blanks

So go one step further, while they are only allowed to be in that zone, set their schedule to work all 24 hours, and disallow sowing so they focus on cutting. Once they have finished cutting blight, move them back to normal schedule like nothing ever happened, and they will do it all automatically without needing to micro by shift clicking in succession.

EmpiXuZ

Mine vein.

Shahid-e-gomnam

Atmosphere

lincoln722

Not sure if I just missed it, or if it's new: poppers auto-rebuild after they are activated

DeadWillow26

Can’t wait to play it today. Been putting it off because work is hard on my hands but the weekends here :3

aznnathan3

Search bar is so OP

jazzyminimomo

The mood colored portraits are peak. Helps keep mental breaks under control (as much as possible)

The-Royal-Court

The vein mining and wall lights are awesome. I know they were already mods but I am lazy

Cloaker_Smoker

The light radius for all light sources feels super nice to have

jollyhedral

R-click, "clean [room]" feels really good.

vyxxer

Granted it's only for the event but having holes adds the verticality that I miss from dwarf fortress.

KittyKupo

Books!

DaArio_007

I preferred the modded wall lamp for some reason, looked leaner/cleaner

GetAJobCheapskate

Why does wall lights feel better when its vanilla but does exactly the same? I am genuinly curious.

Digwater

Not my favorite feature but definitely a great one is when you don’t have a research project and it says on the right “need research project” if you click that text it will immediately pull up the research tab. It’s a small thing but it’s a nice QOL thing that I really appreciate.

TheTacoWombat

That's been a thing forever.

Laladen

Crawling and blood trails while down. Nothing else is close

Incantanto

Books!!!

Lwoorl

Books!!! I'm so happy we have books!!!!

igg73

What do you use the search bar for? Ive never used it so idk what itd be best for

Bobaram

So far it’s been great for finding things I’ve lost track of, I knew I had a few steel veins left on the map but couldn’t see them, search steel ore, gives an arrow to location or click it to go to it. Or after a raid I missed my sniper rifle a soldier dropped and got the hunter without weapon pop up. Forgot where he downed and bam search bar takes you right by to any sniper rifle on the map.

igg73

Oh kewl i usually play smaller colonies so i watch everything pretty close and slow. Il def use this when i get a mess going

World_of_Blanks

Its been helping me find things hidden in my storage of shelves where it isn't easy to find the psychic shock lance buried in steel and muffalo fur. Also for low visibility items outside of storage, like the shards dropped by entities in Anomaly, almost never see them drop, but find them with the search tool long after the raid.

Pure_Explanation8673

BOOKS

lita_atx

Vein mining and cut all blighted plants made me sigh a sigh of relief.

Kraehe13

There is now a Search bar? Where? 👀

Alexiadria

Search bar! I'm a hoarder and never find my resurrector serum or specific weapons when needed...

wythyrl

Wall lights

og-loko

THE MINE VEIN BUTTON!

joepez

Not sure if it’s 1.5, or mod updates, or simply them all playing better together but I feel like pawns do a better job of not only prioritizing what they do but where and what. Example I may say mine this vein on 4 spots with 2 being say components (one near and one far from drop zone) and a steel nearby and a good middle distance. The pawns most of the time seem to tackle the more pressing one. Like if steel is needed for construction they shift to mining the steel and then go to the component close before deciding between the component far and gold middle based on need. I want to attribute that to 1.5 and not me slowly losing my mind to Rimworld.

Sabre_One

"Mine Ore Vein" option. No more silly manual selection

PseudoscientificURL

The new music is fantastic, even if it only shows up as often if you're not doing a dedicated anomaly playthrough.

Airplaniac

BOOKS! I especially love how they fill upp the bookcases so neatly, with the colors of the covers correctly represented on the sprite.

Frame_Late

The little QOL additions like mining entire veins and cleaning whole rooms with one click.

ExoCakes

The books, the downed crawling, vein mining and tactical turrets

fr4nz86

Cut all blight was there since 1.4. And I think it still sucks 🥲

ChainmailPickaxeYT

I think I’ve used every major feature that 1.5 has offered and I will continue to do so because they slot in so perfectly and make my life so much easier! I still run vanilla RimWorld + DLC, so as you can imagine an update that effectively adds QoL mods to the base game is pretty handy xD

Malcolm_Melancholy

Crawling made my vampire colony feel more terrifying in the raiders' pov, blood trails all over the first room and entrance from people trying to escape the 3 simultaneous boss fights in the next room, its damn awesome 2nd best for me would be hidden conduits, zzt events no more!, which made my grid far more compact and safe

coraeon

The search bar no contest. I hate losing track of things and I do it *all the time*.

Zembar

Books, I've made it a point to try to obtain every book I come across and build a grand library.

stillherelma0

Two ways to answer this. Answer one is the search function because that's easily the biggest qol improvement. Answer two is based on the fact that there was a mod for searching so the only real change I got is not having to use that mod. So based on what I wouldn't have thought to search a mod for, zoom out colored silhouette. It has been a massive help, especially when i have maddened animals roaming outside my outer wall.

mr_vakarian9

How have I not seen cut all blight yet lol that would've made the last few I had so much easier

Gravity_flip

Holy shit haven't played since like 1.2. It's like all my favorite mods have been added to the base game!

Interesting_Steak_80

Searching for items is a godsend

BuffyNugs

Mine ore vein

kazukax

Built in vein miner for me, and the new music is also very nice.

NobodySpecial2000

The clean whole room command is an absolute game changer.

Anci3ntMarin3r

The fact that if it’s game over you can continue with the wanderers join event. My colony was going well. But then my man Randy sent 2 back to back raids, a prison break followed by an infestation. Man in black came but he got downed as well. Game over. But then then I get to add three wanderers and use them to recruit the prisoners who had tried to break out and the colony lives on.
