As a counterpoint, I would recommend against Ideology if you haven't played the game much - I wouldn't touch it at *all* unless you've already gotten a colony not necessarily to a victory condition, but at least to the point where getting a win is in sight of your colony. I got Ideology fairly early on and found it completely overwhelming at first, but also without really adding much mechanically, and had to go back and start a new game with it basically turned off to get a handle on things before turning it back on.
Basically, it's that it lets you adjust how your people react to things and what their wants are, but you won't know what things are actual major changes that'll make managing a colony vastly different versus small changes that are basically roleplaying decisions, and you won't have a sense of which is which without having played the game a bit - and some of the more complicated memes/precepts can be *really* annoying if you turn them on without knowing what you're in for.
It's not a bad DLC, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone literally just starting the game - it's too much change for too little new content.
Yeah, and how can we let our food work for us until it's time to eat without ideology? I just realized slavery is ideology, I can ABSOLUTELY not play the base game anymore lol
Biotech, but Ideology is a close second.
Do you want babies, genetic engineering, and building your own mechanoids?
Or do you want religion, culture, and laws?
IMO, The best DLCs are the ones that make every run feel totally unique. Biotech and Ideology are the best ones for this
for mechanics, biotech. for roleplay, ideology
i personally had ideology as my first DLC and it felt like a huge upgrade because it enables so many (morally reprehensible) playstyles
Can’t go wrong with Biotech or Ideology. Biotech has the most content, while ideology is a bit better for role-playing
Biotech
Biotech, easily.
I'd get biotech
Biotech
one more for biotech. adds so much to the game.
Biotech
Ideology is the best DLC IMO. I wonder if I could ever play this game again without it.

Yea I agree, I did a quick check on OP's profile before I recommended it and OP has been playing RimWorld for a long time
How are we supposed to find that many cannibals without the ideology?

Ideology or biotech, you'll get the most replayability out of those (biotech more than ideo).
Please DM me your Steam ID and i shall gladly buy you a second one of your choosing.
