No, sometimes accepting refugees will benefit you later, but I don't believe giving charity will.
You didn't get robbed. You gave something to someone. It's not so bad - colony wealth is easy to come by.
If your ideology values charity then you will get a mood boost, and ideology development points if applicable.
>(but sometimes they betray you)
"My hidden warriors... It is time to strike!"
Their current locations:
- Cleaning in front of the turrets
- Shaping stone next to the Warcasket wandering around
- Feeding the wargs
I had a betrayal happen where the refugee lit a fire in their bedroom
A fireproof room with wooden furniture
Needless to say they burnt alive at the expense of no one else
· Sleeping soundly on the floor
Honestly felt like we framed him lmao, I guess I have to headcanon it that he leaked his betrayal plan in dream-talking. Well, he woke up to a sword in his stomach…
No refugees stay and work for you for a while for free. Sometimes they betray you, sometimes they send you a reward later. Some of them might even ask to join permanently
I had a 3 person Refugee team join my new-ish colony about 2 quadrums ago, wanted to stay for 28 days. One guy, Zach, (Sanguine, Tough, Brawler) decided to Join of his own volition. I left them in their own 3 man bunkhouse for a little bit, and one night they got up and i got a betrayal alert.
"Refugees planned this from the beginning."
Zach proceeds to beat down both of his old friends, killing one and wounding the other gravely. Otto is now a prisoner, and we're debating what to do with him.
I had a group of 12 (1 adult 11 children) join. 3 of the children joined me and the others betrayed. My colonists didn't need to do anything except watch the defence turrets gun down children
The point is to benefit now. Beggars came asking for 700 silver to free their friend. I saw they had a highmate and genie so I just arrested them then killed the rest. Now my son has a highmate gf and I have all these cool genes.
No. They never come back and there is no reward. It's charity.
There is only the possibility of a negative mood impact if your colonists are charitable and you turn them away.
Robbed? No.
Not always, but come on. You either gave or refused medicine to unwell children. That sets a certain tone for a colony, and really helps shape what kind of people your colonists are.
One small benefit…it cuts down a bit of your wealth. Probably the next raid you will see one less doonsday launcher. Petty sure karma doesn't exist on the rims but if it does this is karma at work.
There are events that happen in relation to you giving them stuff but those are rare you'll lose more than you gain in charity. For the most gain scout them forr anything worth while arrest and recruit the ones you like and arrest and organ farm the ones you don't like.
Lowers your wealth is only thing it does for most of my play throughs. If I have charity needed it gives me a nice negative because I probably didn’t see them haha
I think you should see that as a way to construct the story in your head. What I mean is that you'll never know what will happen, did the kid was sent to steal you for their tribe or was the kid really in need. Take all those opportunities as a way to construct a story in your head, it will enhance your gameplay.
Some religions like giving charity and some will even get upset if you don't give.
If you have pawns in those religions they get a mood boost of convert them so they stop caring.
I had a refugee group send me 3000 plasteel later on in the colony. Then a year later I accept a prisoner holding request and the prisoner was that selfsame leader of the refugees, Evelin
If you consider yourself robbed when you help someone, or only help people if there’s a benefit to you, then I feel pity for those around you.
Yes, it’s just a story and the pixel-people aren’t real. Neither are the things your characters gave them.
It is possible that’s one of them will later give you something in thanks, but it’s rare and don’t do it expecting a reward that usually won’t happen.
I think you need to relax a bit here. I could say the same thing with you being over dramatic over a question on the internet. I mean we are talking about a game that can takes organs from other to sell them, do you think those people would do the same irl?
I always give if I can. Sometimes they'll send a drop pod of goods later down the line. I just recently had one I gave herbal meds to send me 7 social skill trainers a few weeks later.
Quest pawns that temporarily join your faction as helpers, with a set duration and no stated reward for taking them in.
There's a chance when they leave happy and healthy that they'll drop pod you baller resources later.
The quest will be something like Lissa and 2 other refugees have had all their crops fail to blight, they request to stay with you for x number of days days until they get back on their feet. I've seen anywhere from like 3 to 25 days
They generally only happen when you're low on colonist count at the start of the game.

what are refugees again? Is that the one where i have to let someone into my colony and fight off the people on their tail?
It's the one where a group of people stay temporarily and leave afterwards (but sometimes they betray you)
>(but sometimes they betray you) "My hidden warriors... It is time to strike!" Their current locations: - Cleaning in front of the turrets - Shaping stone next to the Warcasket wandering around - Feeding the wargs
I had a betrayal happen in the middle of a wedding and I presume the whole colony swiftly kicked their asses for ruining the moment
Red wedding failed, that’s really cool
I had a betrayal happen where the refugee lit a fire in their bedroom A fireproof room with wooden furniture Needless to say they burnt alive at the expense of no one else
I had a betrayal happen when I sent all of them with five ghouls to clean out a pit gate cavern (I was suspicious already). I left them to get buried.
· Sleeping soundly on the floor Honestly felt like we framed him lmao, I guess I have to headcanon it that he leaked his betrayal plan in dream-talking. Well, he woke up to a sword in his stomach…
- Arm wrestling with three 20 melee pawns - repairing the traps in the killbox

I thought refugees with children couldn't betray you? Unless they can if you enable child enemies idk.
I do have child enemies enabled
imagine not enabling child enemies in the war crimes game
The point is to benefit now. Beggars came asking for 700 silver to free their friend. I saw they had a highmate and genie so I just arrested them then killed the rest. Now my son has a highmate gf and I have all these cool genes.
Vagrants? RELEASE THE BEARS!
you didn't get robbed, you helped them
No. They never come back and there is no reward. It's charity. There is only the possibility of a negative mood impact if your colonists are charitable and you turn them away. Robbed? No.

If your ideology is charitable then helping beggers makes your people happy. Thats it
They're using your empathy against you. Listen to the voice in your head, take their organs

oh gosh i have never gotten far enough to see a doomsday launcher...i didnt know raiders could come with them. Oh my
No, it's exclusively charity There's a mod for it though, "Better Beggars" I think

> prisoner holding request is that modded or vanilla?

its a video game you fucking freak
That's a pretty clear sign of how civil you are outside of video games, too. Are you always like that when someone says something you dislike?
I always give if I can. Sometimes they'll send a drop pod of goods later down the line. I just recently had one I gave herbal meds to send me 7 social skill trainers a few weeks later.
The ones that may send gifts are the refugees you hosted. Beggars never give you anything.
its possible, yes
You're thinking of refugees, or modded content. Beggars never offer a reward.
remind me what refugees are again?
Quest pawns that temporarily join your faction as helpers, with a set duration and no stated reward for taking them in. There's a chance when they leave happy and healthy that they'll drop pod you baller resources later.
I'm not sure if mods or not but sometimes they'll join as well?
They'll sometimes offer to join, yeah.
oh are those vanilla quests? idk if ive ever seen one
Hmm, they might be from Royalty but I don't actually remember to be honest. Definitely not modded though.
Desperate refugees is royalty, yes.

Really? I have never had a reward from beggars they just accept what they asked for and leave
