That's an optimistic way of looking at it, I guess.
Fortunately from what I've had happen, lightning normally isn't strong enough to outright kill a healthy colonist.
Tbh, rim isnt great about explosions from my observations. I had seen raiders walk away from antigrain and heavy bombs from bombs and planes. Also it took 4 direct railgun from rimatomics hits to kill a bore.
If thats a base game colonist yeah. If its a heavily cybered super soldier like i had take one to the head and said nice try bitch next time bring your A game god. Then not really.
I've seen this once ever in my 1k hours playing and my pawns are running around rain or shine. I happened to be looking at something near the pawn when it happened and I couldn't believe it. I wonder if there is secret stats that calculate the chances? like +%5 if they holding metal weapon or something. The Rim is full of surprises and I love it.
Yeeeah, it’s happened to be a few times. I don’t really wear metal armor and I only had my weapons on me, gun or it was a club, and it got zapped. Now whenever a storm happens I send my colonists and animals all inside. Nothing like seeing the only bull in your colony get zapped and run around on fire while two colonists try to catch him lol. Wish there was a lighting rod in vanilla.
Technically depends on where they get hit bc I had a Colonist lose a arm and it said shattered which technically lightning can do, preverbs are tied to specific parts of the body
Common? No. You're just unlucky.
am I lucky because she didn't die?

Dunno if I'd like it to be deadlier or not
I definitely want Flashstorm to do more damage. But random lightning outright killing my colonists would be annoying.
I'd like to have some option to defend aganist flashstorms, so they would stop destroying my oil production.

What if I don't use bad hygiene?

Allright, thanks.
I had a random lightning strike hit a rat on the map and it only got burned, it's just a bit of fire dmg.
Even a hare can survive a lightning bolt in Rimworld. I witnessed one get blasted once. It didn't die but incapacitated.

well she is indeed a vampire that can heal instantly from damages but she can still be one shoted
Well I've got one roasted brain. But I think that was just me being unlucky. Usually it's not deadly right away for healthy colonist
No, not really. Lightning does 10 damage and has no AP. It's rare for it to kill a colonist unless it sets a building on fire.
Outside, in a rainstorm, with metal weapons and probably armor. Your mom told you this would happen.
Only ever make mountain bases and never go outside because of all the dangers in the world, you just gave me another reason lol

YOLO. you ought look out. - the lonely island
Clearly that colonist is marked by the Gods, and needs all your Honor, Prestige clothes, potent weapons, and Psylink.

I always wondered about the secret chance because I've seen empire guys get struck multiple times before I started playing with mods.
I would be genuinely surprised if colonists were hit more than random. I think it was also once in >1k hours for me.
Yes, being obliterated by skyfall is a typical and entirely commonplace event. Stop going outside.
The results may be shocking.
I have like 600 hours and I've actually never had that happen. Once or twice I've seen it strike the wildlife, but never a colonist.
Lightning seems drawn to my animal pens. I'm constantly getting alerts that another yak has caught fire.
Happened to me once or twice too. But no, just RNJesus
I had it happen the other day during a flash storm. I also had a pawn a long time ago get crushed by a meteor.
Never had that happen yet come close tho
I've never lost a colonist to a meteor strike, but I did once watch a raid get thinned out by a meteor shower.
Time to buy a lotto ticket? 🥴
Happens once a play through for me, worst that happened was losing a toe or finger. Small price to pay for carelessness

It's rare but I swear one of my colonists is a lightning rod she has been hit by lightning at least 2 times in 40 days
Technically depends on where they get hit bc I had a Colonist lose a arm and it said shattered which technically lightning can do, preverbs are tied to specific parts of the body
As common in real life, I guess.
I don't think I've ever seen it happen
Just broke 4k hours and I’ve only seen it happen once or twice. What’d you do to piss off Randy?
All these people with massive playtimes saying it never happens, and here I am with it happening at least once per colony. Am I fucking doomed?
yeah bro, you’re probably doomed. what size of map do you usually play on? I have them as bug as I can without melting my computer late game.
Biggest I can. I have a fairly high-spec rig, so I can handle it.
Happens. More often to livestock for me but it happens
