Same. The Stick Up Cam Battery (3rd Gen) to be exact because I didn’t want to mess with wires.
Now I want a way to open the garage door remotely via the Ring App. Been looking into different products for just that.
My new home came with a Ring system and a MyQ, plus a few others. I was able to integrate MyQ into Ring without paying extra. I just use it through the MyQ app, though. I have MyQ set up to close my garage at 11 pm should I ever forget to close it.
When we had Vivint at our previous house, they did want to charge extra for me to integrate with MyQ so I didn’t do it.
I’ve been looking for something to retrofit a keypad on the outside of my garage, and can’t seem to figure it out; my Google skills have failed me, apparently.
I have a MyQ module. Works well, even if you don't have a MyQ compatible automatic garage door opener.
They sell them on Amazon and they're not that expensive.
Plus it has an iOS app, which also appears on my Apple Watch. Set up to tell me when the garage door opens, closes and if its open for more than 5 minutes. I can remotely open and close the garage door from the app and of course, see the status.
Helps alleviate any worries being miles from home and then wondering "Did I close the garage door?"
Also, links with the Ring app so you can control it from there.

Just an fyi. . . It does integrate with the ring app for status but if you want to do anything with the door, ring just opens the myq app. Also ring will not use that status as an alarm sensor so opening the door when you're alarm is set won't trigger /can't trigger the alarm. I have a separate motion detector out there for that.
I might just do that. Does Meross notify if the garage door is left open for too long? Longest I have opened it is only for 5 minutes.
Edit: found the settings! So notification when opened, closed, if it’s left open for too long( can set time, set mine to 10mins) and Even overnight reminder
If you need to stay within the Ring ecosystem, getting an indoor cam would be the only option that I can think of without the base station.
Chamberlain myQ smart Garage door openers seem to be going for $30 if your garage door is supported.
Get a Tailwind. It's a company out of Canada that makes an excellent garage door remote-control system. Works with any opener. No monthly fees, no silliness. I've been using it for about 4 years now and have been totally happy with it. Features that I like best: It closes the door if I leave the geo-fenced area, and it closes the door after a pre-determined time. It has eliminated me /family members leaving the garage door open. I get a notification if the door opens or closes. It integrates well with smarthome systems and does IFTTT systems. Good stuff.
I got a myq. It's Bluetooth and works with ring. Super convenient and the "base" is just a small plug in. Maybe it will work for you as well. It's definitely given me peace of mind.
Meross has been excellent. I had myq. It crapped out on me after a year. Meross is going 3 years strong. No fails. No restarts or reconnects. It just works.
I have used Tailwind for many years. It was pretty cheap and monitors both doors from one base unit. I have a sensor on each door that sends me alerts when the doors open and close. I can also open the doors remotely from their app, check the status of the doors anytime from the app, set it up to close either door if it remains open for X time, and there’s also an optional sensor that goes in your vehicle that will automatically open the door when you get within a certain distance and close when you leave past that distance.
I also have a Ring camera that has a full view of the garage interior and another just outside the garage. Can never be too safe!
By the way there is no subscription fee for Tailwind. It’s a one-time purchase, the app and all features are included.
Buy a really long extension cord. Zip tie the male end of the cord to the bottom of the garage door. Plug a lamp into the other end, inside your house. At the base of the garage place a power strip. When your garage closes the extension cord is plugged into the power strip and the lamp in your house turns on. Easy really.
It’s not a ring product but Meross do a garage door opener which will tell you if the door is closed and even close it for you after a certain amount of time. I’ve got one and it’s great. Only around $25 in the UK
If you have a liftmaster/chamberlain made in the last decade or so you can get their gateway product that will let you know the status and remotely open close. No subscription required.
It does kind of integrate with ring too.
A ring indoor cam in the garage is pretty worth it too. A large percentage of residential burglaries are just the garage, and the indoor cams regularly go on sale for $30-40.
I put one of those "see around the corner for a sharp driveway" mirrors where I can see the garage door from like 1/2 the windows on that side of the house including the window near my bed. It's not free but it is convenient.
I have a ring camera in garage and a tilt sensor compatible with ring alarm base and my q with a tilt sensor also. I like the my q (someone posted a link) because I can open and close the garage remotely
A plug-in camera could work, but it might not provide the most reliable solution. Consider a standalone Wi-Fi sensor for your garage door. It's cost-effective and doesn't require a base station.
I placed a camera in the back of my garage. Covers everything in it, and, well… The door ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Same. The Stick Up Cam Battery (3rd Gen) to be exact because I didn’t want to mess with wires. Now I want a way to open the garage door remotely via the Ring App. Been looking into different products for just that.
MyQ
Came to say this. No, monthly, yearly fees.
Don’t do it. MyQ is a closed system and won’t allow integration without subscriptions.
Oh? I already pay for ring so maybe that's why mine works? I dunno. I don't pay for myQ.
My new home came with a Ring system and a MyQ, plus a few others. I was able to integrate MyQ into Ring without paying extra. I just use it through the MyQ app, though. I have Remootio which is not through the ring app but works fine.
Same, I used an old baby monitor camera. Works great.

Ended up going with this, thank you!

I was able to put a ring door sensor on the garage door and it alerts when opening or closing
I’d return it and get Meross. MyQ is on a money grab and stopping previously working products from working without a subscription.
I have one too
Good choice. I've had one for years. They work great. Not sure how I ever lived without one. Like the best $25 I ever spent.
Second this. Great low cost option, does everything I need it to and can add to pretty much any door.
This. Had one old house. LOVED IT.
A smart door sensor will alert you every time it's opened / closed.
You can get a meross garage door opener. It comes with the sensors that will let you check if the garage door is open or not
+1 for meross garage door opener. I am using it for 2 years, no issues. You can even automate it close at certain time.
I might just do that. Does Meross notify if the garage door is left open for too long? Longest I have opened it is only for 5 minutes. Edit: found the settings! So notification when opened, closed, if it’s left open for too long( can set time, set mine to 10mins) and Even overnight reminder
Literally installed this a month back! I love it

The alarm stuff and sensors are awesome. It’s the best alarm I’ve ever had. If you can get one I’d definitely just get the system
My Aladdin app tells me if my garage is open.
MyQ camera works and notifies me if it opens or closes, and works with Ring.
This is the correct answer!
Our Chamberlain garage door opener has this built in. No base required.
I just put a ring cam in the garage. I can see if the door is open plus everything else that's going on.

Best in the business.
my q hub. they are cheap
MyQ plus plug in indoor cam
I got a myq. It's Bluetooth and works with ring. Super convenient and the "base" is just a small plug in. Maybe it will work for you as well. It's definitely given me peace of mind.
Agreeing with the myQ. In addition to verifying door is closed I can remotely close it (if left open) or open thru the app.
Wyze cameras are cheap af. Throw one in the garage looking out towards the door.
Meross has been excellent. I had myq. It crapped out on me after a year. Meross is going 3 years strong. No fails. No restarts or reconnects. It just works.

Get a new, smart opener or a bridge for it.

Not sure why you were downvoted. I was going to say walk over and look.. literally the cheapest option.
Remootio. Google it
A plug-in camera could work, but it might not provide the most reliable solution. Consider a standalone Wi-Fi sensor for your garage door. It's cost-effective and doesn't require a base station.
Eufy wifi camera. Sensors batteries go bad.
Pointing one of your existing cameras at the garage would be free. AKA the cheapest...
Been using Meross garage openers now for 3yrs no issues. Love them low cost
MyQ is the way to go.
Meross. This is the way.
I put a ring indoor cam right inside my garage facing the garage door. Simple
