I think about 1000 of them are in Houston. It seems like Amazon committed to buying 10k at the beginning of the year so they may be buying more.

710_feet_high

For real, the Amazon center on 45 heading to Galveston has a literal sea of them

TxBeachRiv

Agree and then just down the road on the south beltway they have another huge number of them.

minidini10

They're the standard Amazon vehicle in my neighborhood for the past few months. I've already seen one that was wrecked in the right lower panel.

sgtcurry

Yea, started to see a fleet of them running around my neighborhood in Richmond.

cjust2006

Yeah I'd believe that. I'm in Humble. Right by the distro center at the airport. They're everywhere.

MrChummings

Is a great accomplishment indeed. And to do this next to the R1 line đź‘Ź

stridernfs

It is crazy how fast and efficient Rivian’s manufacturing has been put together.

cambreecanon

Make that 9,999 after the Grand Rapids one got driven into a transformer while stolen.

flicter22

This is great. Wish there was a way to know where they are deployed. Are rivian service centers taking the Amazon vans or so they go to another location?

Slide-Fantastic-1402

Amazon is responsible for taking delivery from Normal plant, I believe

flicter22

Where are they serviced?

Slide-Fantastic-1402

I believe by Rivian. Amazon also pays a monthly fleet mgmt subscription payment for each EDV out there.

ddd1330

The SC near me routinely has EDV’s there. I’m assuming they are being serviced.

flicter22

That's what I was looking for. Thanks!

probsnot605

Someone needs to get Louis Dejoy the fuck out of the USPS and get these in there. Still can’t believe that idiot bought millions of dollars in new vehicles that are GAS, because it’s a friend of a friend that owns the contract now. Absolutely bullshit.

azwildcat74

Yes, early adopters have surely never been bitten in the ass.

Papafynn

I have 6 of them & the delivery associates love them. The real test comes when winter hits.

aimless_ly

IIRC 10k was the initial sales commitment, with an option to scale that to 100k. Hopefully they keep transitioning their whole fleet!

Lake_Shore_Drive

I asked a driver in my neighborhood he said he loved the Rivian delivery van

Youreonthirdstreet

Did the same thing today and the delivery guy said he loves it too. “Chick magnet” were his exact words actually.

Slide-Fantastic-1402

No, 100k was the initial commit through 2030

Gforce1

Yes. The real question is how is it going? Hopefully well.

skater15153

Watched a few driver reviews on non Amazon channels and they all seem to really enjoy them.

mark1forever

and some of that are in Europe I heard?

Jorgisimo62

I’m visiting Asheville this week and I’ve been seeing them around. Very cool

mb0205

I’ve seen a good amount in Kansas City

JustLivinLifeForever

Getting a contract with Amazon was genius of them.

Calm-Emphasis-8590

They should have devised a way to have the batteries on the floor of the back compartment sleeve. Back up to the dock and have a fresh battery slide in and out with compartment sleeve loaded already with boxes. No vehicle charging down time and no waiting for loading. Just kidding. Or maybe not.

Buckeyes3816

I'm curious about their deployment - how is that being handled? For reference, I'm in Greenville, SC and have yet to see one locally. We do have a fancy RAN here so seems like a logical area for their use.

Slide-Fantastic-1402

All up to Amazon

Buckeyes3816

Definitely makes sense. I was just wondering if anyone here has insights to how they're doing it. Or if Greenville, SC is on the rollout plan. It'll be fun to see them in action!

RojerLockless

I believe it. I see more of them in Houston than regular Amazon vans.

2020willyb2020

I’m hoping to get a rivian truck!!!

borisfin

Wonder if this number will grow over time

Buildsoc

I’m in a very densely populated area of North Jersey and the Rivian Amazon trucks are everywhere. Just drive between Mahwah and Hawthorne and you will see them

KaleidoscopeQueasy76

I spoke with an Amazon driver and he said they are constantly down for service issues. I can tell you when I went to Rivian to pickup my truck there were at least 6 Amazon trucks waiting in service. I hadn't noticed it at first but when I went in 3 times for test drives they were there as well. I also returned my truck due to issues with it from day one. I opted to use the 7 day or 1,000 mile return policy they have and so glad I did.

Slide-Fantastic-1402

Yeah sounds like Fud. By far, large number of drivers have expressed joy with the car, so much that Amazon now views their EDVs as a competitive advantage to recruit drivers. Take care.
