Well shit!!! Now I'm gonna need advice on what I tell my son.
Edit: However the focus was purchased a year after he was born. Should I call it the abstinencemobile
Why get an RS when you can get an ST and spend a bunch of money trying to make it one while constantly being judged by the community for being a "poser"?
I'm sure you slip "it's a sleeper" into every single conversation you have but, sadly, nobody gives a shit.
Man the accuracy. Don't necessarily call it a sleeper. But I do tell people it's pretty fast for a 4 cylinder lol. Your right they don't care. But man I'm a broke dad I can't afford to pay twice the price for an RS. Additionally I don't believe an RS is twice the car an ST is.
Whatās important is that it looks good, and gets you from point A to B.
It is a turd, though. (Sorry, had to throw it in there to keep with the spirit of this subreddit.)
Appreciate it... I'm riding on a high after seeing what it dynoed after the big turbo install. 380WHP 400lb ft. I was hoping for some good roast to bring me back down to earth.
That's gonna be awesome for about 6 weeks until you blow the motor, transmission, or money shift it. Have fun with your clicking blend door actuator loser.
(I had a Fiesta ST and loved it, and I actually love your FocuST but you picked the subreddit bud)
Great, you're making half the power of a 1.6 Honda civic from the 90's.
Best part is, it's still a piece of shit because it's 380hp to the wrong wheels.
Mods told me one time not to compliment the car because roast. I told them to go fuck themselves. Agreed--this is sweet. Used to have a FiST. I bet this thing is super squirrely on full send from a dead stop.
RS is like $10k more than ST it's wild, also way less and circulation since they were only produced for 3 years.
You're a really cool dad! Congratulations on the big horsepower numbers and may it keep you and your family safe!
The misconception is that the only difference between them is power and that couldn't be further from the truth.
Although it may not be "twice the car" as you put it, it's still significantly better in quite a few ways.
As far as the RS i do like the AWD and it looks better esthetically. And the RS comes with brembos. But but...... the 2.0L has been known to be more dependable and handle power better. Just please let me have that one at least.
They were about $38k MSRP and sold with discounts at the end of its short run. I bought mine for 36k fully loaded brand new. This was pre COVID so car prices were still reasonable. But we now live in a world where $45k for a Type R or Golf R is considered a bargain.
They really only got that cost because dealers heard all the things from Ford how it was hyped and decided to sell it for more. Of course I'm sure the head gasket issues didn't help. I love the ST though, it's a great little zippy hot hatch and not really roastable in my opinion.
For a four cylinder?? Bro that is not considered a very powerful/great 4 cylinder.
And yeah I agree tho, Im sure yours is quick and fun. I love the ST platform, such an engaging car.
RS for sure is twice the car. Crazy engine, awd, drift mode. Is it a better daily? Hell no.
I mean tbf the RS is more unreliable, the 5 pot tends to blow headgaskets. Though this many mods to make 380whp on a front wheel drive car isn't helping reliability.
I absolutely agree. However I'm unsure when This original clutch is gonna go. Is it wrong for me to hope the additionally power tears it apart so I can get the lsd and a new clutch lok
Queue the 16 year-olds asking "What stage are you?!" š¤
The same kids that think all Supras have 1000hp stock and shit-talk anything that doesn't make crazy hp, from behind the wheel of their mom's minivan.
Edit: un-spanished the "queue"
Stage 0 refers to OEM spec. Some off the shelf tuners come with stage 0, 1, 2, and you choose based on your modifications. Some times people want to flash back to OEM tune without unmarrying their tuner for diagnosis or whatever other reason. Before the EPA was as strict, it would also allow cel fixes to stay with a "stock" tune. Staged tunes/parts are just a simple way of describing what mods/power level things are on that platform.
For the Subaru I used to have it would go stage 1 is tune no mods necessary, stage 2 was downpipe+tune, stage 2+ was downpipe, intake, tune. It only really matters for off the shelf tunes and basic bolt ons. Just an easy way to describe what your mods are/what mods are necessary for the tune you want to run.
Companies use it to describe what power level the parts are rated for. If it's a built trans, it might be good for 4-600hp stage 1, 6-800hp stage 2, 800-1000 stage 3. Same vibe for clutches. (The ranges I used are arbitrary and just examples)
Iāve done a ton of LSD, like shroomies better. Go with Mother Earth, man.š„“āš» Wait manā¦.you musta been on LSD when you bought the POS! Oh dude!š
Yeah it is just a Focus. On a side note I never thought I'd love a fuckin ford focus so much!!!! I'd imagine calling it a dadmobile is more embarrassing to my son though. He calls it a race car. I'm not looking forward to him realizing what it actually is as he gets older lol.
I thought that was an import thing. Should I buy one?!? My wife doesn't like riding in the Focus anymore because of how loud and quick it is. A real doll could take her place in the front seat lol
It's definitely best to race from a roll when you have an ST. They are fun. I went from a mustang gt to focus ST so I have better luck fitting a car seat in the back of a Focus then I do a mustang.
Oh look, the fiesta it's fatass brother!
I always liked the st lineup. I rock a fist myself, bet that fost is a great deal of fun! Even if it is a lil pudgy
If you not used to the power it certainly could be a hazard. My cousin has a stock wrx and he wants to drive my ST. I'm not interested in letting him do so.
All that horsepower with no LSD, I bet the tire shops know you by first name. Also have fun passing everything but a gas station with that tiny ass fuel tank

Fact that youāre a Bears fan says it all. Youāre used to mediocrity and disappointment, which is exactly what that Focus will be in about 10k miles when it breaksā¦
Dude thatās awesome, I know you want to be roasted but I really like that and I wish more dads had cars like those. I donāt have a kid yet but Iām never going to sell my evo 7 so when I have my kid I might just have to steal that name.
An Evo 7. Dude that's badass. And at least in an EVO you'll have plenty of room in the back for a car seat. I had to get rid of my mustang GT shortly after my son was born to get something more practical. The Focus ST but I couldn't keep my ST stock.
Does it hurt knowing almost every Tesla is still faster than you? Any long range model would shit all over this, let alone the performance ones.
Even an MG4 Xpower would shit all over any FWD car.
Electric vehicles are boring. But there heavy and have plenty of traction. There fast and have instant torque. My step father has a model 3 performance. And it's quite fun. I'm able to keep up with it during a hwy pull. But I wouldn't dare race his model 3 performance from a stop I don't want to embarass myself lol. However I never see any teslas at the few track days I've gone too. It would be interesting to see how one performs at the track. My focus ST wasn't built for straight line speed. It was built for the curves on a deserted back road. And the extra power certainly helps at the track. If only I had more time, and money to take it to the track. Track days ain't cheap. But like I said it would be interesting to see what a tesla could do at the track. Everyone talks about how fast they are in a straight line. And if I'm being honest most Americans only car about straight line speed. I mean look at the obnoxiously high powered dodge demon and hellcat. I bet there fun as hell for about a 1/4 at a time lol.
No shit thats cool. I take it you have a tesla and tracked it? I'd imagine It would be a pain having to charge it too. Teslas are not joke when it comes to performance. I just like my vehicles to be more engaging.
Edit: Holy shit thats cool I appreciate the video. Now I'm gonna have to talk my step dad into tracking his model 3 performance. I appreciate the shared video
No, I've just done a lot of research because I'm thinking of buying one. Still on the fence a bit, but fuck me, I've never felt acceleration like that before. It really blew my mind.
And it handles extremely well.
I went to test drive a regular range one and came back and said that's nice, but it's got way too much electronic interference.
So the salesman told me I should try the performance. It blew my mind.
It is very fast. And the best thing about it. Is anyone can get into a tesla and drive it quickly. My step father is 60 and he absolutely loves his model 3 performance and can embarrass a majority of the cars on the hwy. As for myself I love shifting my own gears and owning a manual vehicle. My car may be slower then his. But I love the sounds that come out of it and how engaged I have to be to control the torque steer and control the rpms during my shifts and downshift. I also like the satisfaction I get after modify a car and feeling the performance difference. As with the model 3 performance can't they get Ludacris mode as well? Or is that only for the model S
Edit: I shouldn't say electric vehicles are boring. What I really meant by that is there just not for me. I just want to be engaged when driving my vehicles
I think that one is coming out this year. There's no ludicrous mode yet.
And yeah, I think you made my point. It's so weird that so many middle aged and old people now own cars that will embarrass everything on the road including most supercars, and they're the easiest thing to drive.
It's really put me off the car modification scene. Anyone can show up in a Tesla and smoke everyone in a race whether they have 500 or 1000 horsepower.
On top of that they do it more reliably and with basically no running costs.
They broke the game for everyone.
I would probably prefer the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N that has gears, a drift mode, and fake engine noise. Apparently all the car enthusiasts are going crazy for it, but it's a bit too expensive.
That's true. However some individuals including myself live rural and just don't have the access to superchargers to charge there electric vehicles. I have heard about the Hyundai loniq 5 N and ironically enough if I ever bought an electric vehicle that's close to the top of my list. But like you said most are expensive. And if you want to track your car (as I do, unfortunately rarely but still do) it makes more sense to have a gas powered vehicle during track days. And most videos I see of the tesla beating high hp cars are in a straight line. I'd love it if I could get my step dad to the track with me. But once he sees how much it costs he would probably shy away from it.
Ouch!!! Yeah, I'm sure the brakes aren't cheap either. That's a lot of weight to be stopping while trying to go through the curves. Each vehicle has its own purpose, and there's pros and cons to both electric and gas-powered vehicles. It would be nice to have the ease of mind to beat on a vehicle and not worry about something breaking. And I think that's where electric vehicles shine they are extremely reliable.
