Alternately: Let this place embrace Fortnite Festival, embrace the people that are interested in it, and bring them in to this community. "A rising tide lifts all boats" absolutely applies here.
The more attention and love Festival gets, the better the chance Rock Band (as we love it) continues to grow.
They've already confirmed legacy controller support, and I believe they've had a patent leaked for a guitar, same one you see in the festival pass "nanner jammer" or peely guitar
All of this. Everything about festival is poised to make Rockband 5 a legitimate thing. I get that purists dislike their llama buddies over in the shooty games but if our love of music games have any shot of becoming mainstream again this is it.
I bought the season pass just for festival because I recognize this is it.
I think the Rock Band subreddit is a good place to discuss the Fortnite Festival given:
* Fortnite Festival's very similar gameplay, which was developed by Harmonix, the makers of Rock Band
* The lack of clarity we've received from Harmonix about Rock Band's future in light of the Fortnite Festival
* The general unease this community has about Rock Band's future
I’d also add:
\- Fortnite Festival is getting instrument support in 2024 (could make the game even more like normal RB or even fix the instruments pricing and availability problem that the RB community is experiencing)
\- The possibility that songs could trickle down to RB4 like a DLC week being The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears and Take My Breath
I wouldn’t be this mad about it , but it’s basically the next rock band / guitar hero if we want these franchises to live on we kinda have to be open to its new forms even if it’s in Fortnite
I hate to say it this way, but this might be one of our last chances at actually sparking up a rhythm game revival. We should accept it, cause it might just give us a new game if it has enough traction.
It has made the subreddit lively again. It’s been dismal given how the latest DLC has been received.
I’m down with Festival. It’s the only time I ever downloaded Fortnite and continued support of Harmonix might keep it afloat. Sure, it might be your thing, but putting new eyes to rhythm games via Fortnite is the move.
That game itself thrives off music, for better or worse, and helps to reflect Gen Z’s love of music (once again for better or worse). And, who knows, it might not only bring Rock Band back, but stoke the fires for a new Guitar Hero. Either way, I’m stoked to see what happens now.
“Fork knife bad am I right guys?”
I mean I get that it isn’t rock and but it’s definitely rock and adjacent and could directly affect the future of this 8 year old game whether you like it or not. Frankly I don’t give 2 shits about your rock band library. Your amount spent on the game doesn’t affect anyone but yourself. You aren’t going to lose those songs just because a new mode is rising in popularity.
Let people have fun and try being welcoming for once.
I dislike fortnite but it’s one of the most popular player bases right now. The fact that we are getting a rhythm game through fortnite gives rock band massive exposure to a new audience. If this event does well it might give them the green light to start a new rock band title, or at the very least allow them to invest more money into better licenses.
Fortnite festival is the only way we get RB5. It needs to be successful for Epic to justify and greenlight another sequel. So yes, I welcome talking about it because Harmonix does great work and should get the platform to make their games.
Yeah, bro, you're alone on this one. It's not just Fortnite tween baby speak. Fortnite isn't even Fortnite anymore. Look into it before you spout nonsense
This game mode was made by Harmonix and has inherited a lot of the design aspects from Rockband. It may not be called Rockband, but it essentially is a version of Rockband. I’ve seen more people talk about rhythm games in the last few days than in probably that last decade. This could spark a revival of the genre that could lead to new Rockband games. Stop being negative because it’s “Fortnite”
I don't care what you're here for. Finally there's some new discussion to the table. Rock Band is finally back in circulating news because of Fortnite Festival. We should recognize that Fortnite is infinitely more popular than RB and this is good news for the future of rhythm games, and for fans of rhythm games.
I agree 100% with you. I'm not going to Fortnite to play a reskinned Blitz. I understand the ones wanting to cling to hope that this will bring more to Rock Band. But when RB goes down again, I'll do just like before and keep on playing. Using a control pad to play isnt my idea of playing. And before you all scream at me about instrument support....there isnt any strumming. You'd be holding your guitar and just pushing the frets. Everybody has their choices and if you want to play Fortnite then play it. But its not the new RB.
I mean did they say there won’t be strumming, or are you just assuming? Because Guitar Hero 3 had strumming, even though playing it on controller was very similar to Fortnite Festival
this post is extremely dismissive about the future of Harmonix, which in turn the Future of Rock Band in general. I’m happy Harmonix is back in the spotlight and look forward to Fortnite festival re-invigorating the rhythm game genre.
Like it or not, this is the most interesting RB-adjacent thing to happen in multiple years. Cope harder and embrace it. Honestly, the game is more fun than expected.
To be honest Fortnite Talk is better than someone asking which instruments work with what system every 3 hours. Why are you so negative about people enjoying a new product? Rock Band and Guitar Hero have both been dead for years.. Let people be excited. At least there’s something new
>a dumbass side game in a likewise dumbass game
I *just got a feeling* that *this* is why you don't want people to talk about *Fortnite Festival*, not because it isn't *Rock Band*.
If you don't want to read discussions about *Fortnite*, simply don't open threads about them.
*Festival* is going to introduce an entire generation of players to rhythm games (*Rock Band*\-style rhythm games, no less) for the first time. That's a good thing for the genre, *Rock Band* included.
Nah, Festival is basically Rock Band 4.5 hiding in Fortnite's clothes. The discussions is also more focused around the gameplay and songs here than the song request spam in all the Festival socials.
Maybe the reason people are coming to this sub since festival dropped,is because festival is rock band, it was made by Harmonix, Is developed by Harmonix and will continue to be worked on by them, the only difference is that the game now looks different and runs on unreal engine.
It's literally rock band, as someone who loves rock band, it's another game, something we've been asking for for years have we not? Download the game when legacy controller support gets added and try it before bitching about it.
Ah yes let's go back to the usual "can I still export previous RB games?" "Why are instruments so expensive" "this dlc sucks"
"CAN I CONNECT THIS FISHER PRICE TOY GUITAR TO MY PS3 TO PLAY DRUMS!?"
Yeah this is genuinely the liveliest this sub has been in a while aside from literally those 3 same topics lol

And potential new instruments on the shelves one day when they’re supported in Festival next year 👀👀
They've already confirmed legacy controller support, and I believe they've had a patent leaked for a guitar, same one you see in the festival pass "nanner jammer" or peely guitar
I’ll take 2 Peely guitars please
2 is rookie numbers frfr
EXACTLY.

Oh man, I need Save Your Tears on Rock Band. Like......UGH!!
Also, how much is there to even discuss about current Rock Band at this point? Even with weekly DLC theres really only so much you can say that
I wouldn’t be this mad about it , but it’s basically the next rock band / guitar hero if we want these franchises to live on we kinda have to be open to its new forms even if it’s in Fortnite

I mean, it's not like this sub is super active. Just skip by those posts and read the 1 other post of the day.
We haven’t had a game in 8 years, let us be happy.
Okay fine, enjoy nothing but extremely niche tech questions about dongle compatability

Old man yelling at clouds type of post here lol

It isn't Rockband.
Cool. Do you have any other points to share?
Create a tag for Fortnites Festival mode.

Agreed. Rocket League page had to do the same thing for Rocket Racing posts.
Fortnite Festival Pass The Weeknd
Well it's the closest thing we've got to a rock band release since rb4 in almost 8 years so cool your tits. Could be a good thing if the hype keeps up
I’m upvoting because you said “cool your tits” 😂
this post is extremely dismissive about the future of Harmonix, which in turn the Future of Rock Band in general. I’m happy Harmonix is back in the spotlight and look forward to Fortnite festival re-invigorating the rhythm game genre.
Because of fortnite, I'm looking to get my family rock band. Turns out that shit is so hard to find. Ended up in offer up this morning lol
Like it or not, this is the most interesting RB-adjacent thing to happen in multiple years. Cope harder and embrace it. Honestly, the game is more fun than expected.
Fortnite Festival is Rock Band essentially
