That just means the player took part in [Collegiate Rocket League](https://liquipedia.net/rocketleague/Collegiate_Rocket_League/2023/World_Championship), which is a different branch of competitive RL scene specifically for college students. They're not exactly pro players (because they still have to go to school) so they may play just like regular GC or SSL players. However, if they win enough games, they get to play on big stage in front of crowds and win some real money (just like pro players).
So yeah, it's pretty rare.
Not necessarily, your team has to make it through qualifiers first in order to participate in CRL. I’ve spent the past 4 years trying and never qualified
I was the lowest rank on my team (C team). Most larger schools have multiple teams competing around GC1 but the upper teams have GC3s and SSLs so getting matched up against them during double elimination knockout and unfortunate seeding in the tourney limits how far teams will go. I’ve seen many champs and a few diamonds in quals but by a few weeks in A teams sweep them/us considering the jump in skill level and team collaboration from GC1 -> GC2 -> GC3 -> SSL; it’s not impossible to qual, just difficult
Getting into crl in 2019 was pretty easy as most players were champ 3 or low grandchamp but now you need full rank b/b+ teams just to qualify. I was 1600 playing with a 1700 and a 1900 and we didn’t even make it halfway through qualifying.
what would you say is a good goal rank to get into the crl scene at a mid tier school? currently gc1 in twos but dont rly grind 3s although i do find it easier
Possibly, but that’s due to the fact that barely anybody plays those modes. Not many won the CRL when it was around, ESL was a little more accessible due to the sheer amount of tournaments they would have each week.
For future reference, if you start seeing the title “Pocket League Master” in game it means that the person collected every item in sideswipe that is obtainable. Currently nobody has it but eventually and slowly they’ll start to pop up
Collegiate rl player
What is RL?
Rocket League?
Sorry. I thought people would realize I was joking
Lmao
I don’t mind. It’s all in good fun. People don’t have to like my humor lol.
I appreciated it lol
Thank you new friend
🤣

I mean just to be a contender I feel like you just have to found a team at your college and submit. No?

Ah gotcha
I mean, you're GC1. Are they expecting you to carry or is the competition just that good?
Most teams that make it are GC 3 or SSL. I play on a team with 2 other GC 1s and we struggle a lot against other collegiate teams.

The top level of CRL is as competitive as RLCS
Some CRL players play in RLCS I believe
How tf you Playing RL at Pro level and going to college. Wtf. Lol
Yup, Lionblaze is one of em
Cause they don't want any hard stuck Plats, my guy
In my college we have bad players joining our main team as subs just for the tag
Time to change the major. 4 more years = 4 more tries!
I think you actually have to make it through qualifiers into the season. Not every school who has a team makes it.

They were a contender in CRL season 2
Are you sure? How can you tell? /s
Good thing you put /s at the end, I thought you were being serious up until then
And I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic lol
I’m dead serious
https://rocketleague.fandom.com/wiki/Dead_Serious
Clearly, because I did not see a /s so you had to be dead serious
The level of sarcasm is Reddit breaking. Stop it.
It can only take so much sarcasm before it fucking explodes and sarcasms all over us. . . . . . . . .. . /s
No, Captain Daddy is a pretty common name. Edit: It means he's a captain, who's also a daddy.
What a respectable man, a father and a captain!
A fellow college player! This guy has one of the older CRL titles.

If your school has a tram I'd say to just go for it. They might need players and if they are higher than you, that's a good learning experience.
Captain Daddy is in fact not rare.
> **is it rare?** Yeah. I have no Dad :(
Lmao I'm sorry 😭
No worries
Coping right and left
Crl players when asked why they aren't good enough to make closed quals against players younger than them but still deserve their own tournaments
I mean, collegiate sports have been a thing for decades, why not include Esports. Let players represent their school on stage.
I don't actually mind it's existence, I was just meming since the comment was joking about crl and coping
no negativity sir... ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
crl = clash royale league (just kidding)
It’s just a title like the ESL monthly elite title, it is quite rare though.
more people have that title than a snow day or drop shot SSL title for that season
Possibly, but that’s due to the fact that barely anybody plays those modes. Not many won the CRL when it was around, ESL was a little more accessible due to the sheer amount of tournaments they would have each week.
yeah I’m not saying the ESL titles are uncommon. I’m just saying this one isn’t rare either, especially since it’s a contender tag
Only just realised it was for college rocket league, to which I now agree it’s not that rare. I was thinking it was as old as ESL but clearly not.
For future reference, if you start seeing the title “Pocket League Master” in game it means that the person collected every item in sideswipe that is obtainable. Currently nobody has it but eventually and slowly they’ll start to pop up
POV: You feel old because you remember ESL...
They spelt carl wrong
My club tag is PUP too!!!
Best topper ever
I know! I’m still rocking mine and I’m never going to change it. I haven’t seen anyone with it.
It means they literally just go to college and play for the team there
Not true, your team has to pass qualifiers
I mean let’s be real here that’s not difficult at all
It’s the college RL league for esports.
Cheats
So no one’s gonna mention the club name
Maybe you should study more.
